Darya's brunch buffet used to be one of the best dining deals in Halifax. It was a genuine standout that included a generous spread of high-quality Mediterranean dishes, all at a price point that made it feel like a treat without the guilt. We were regulars, and for good reason, sometimes going every week. ...but that's what makes the recent changes so disappointing. The buffet price has jumped from $35 to $42 per person (about a 20% increase) and yet somehow the offerings have gone in the opposite direction. The number of dishes on the buffet has been reduced, and most of the accompanying sauces have been quietly cut back or eliminated altogether. The toum, in particular, used to be a highlight (garlicky, creamy, and addictive) and its absence is genuinely felt. Now, two people are now easily spending $100+ for what is demonstrably less food than before. Since tax and tips are calculated as a percentage of overall spend, you end up paying quite a bit more per person than what you did a few months ago. The food that remains is still good. Darya's kitchen hasn't lost its touch, and the quality of the Mediterranean cooking is evident. And of course, the views are spectacular. But value is about the whole equation, and right now that equation doesn't balance. Paying more for less, especially when the "less" includes things you loved, is a hard sell. We probably won't be back again, at least for a long time . Here's hoping they reconsider and restore what made this special for everyone, locals as well as seasonal tourists, in the first place. read more

Best Meal of the Trip - Quality Over Quantity Done Right Our brunch at Daryâ was hands-down the best meal of our trip so far. For $35, the brunch buffet is an absolute steal considering the quality of food and the overall experience. While the selection isn't massive, everything they offer is executed flawlessly--and honestly, you don't need 50 options when each dish is this good. The potato latkes were a standout--crispy, flavourful, and probably the best we've ever had. We also treated ourselves to the 12-for-$42 Mimosa Tree, and it was such a fun and tasty addition to the meal. The variety of flavours was impressive, with Cranberry Vanilla, Guava, and Pistachio Pear being the unexpected stars of the lineup. From the elegant atmosphere to the impeccable food and drinks, this place nails brunch. Highly recommend if you're in Halifax and want something elevated without being stuffy. read more

The water view was beautiful. Unfortunately the food was not very good. We ordered the warmed olives and fried halloumi sticks for apps. The olives were ok. The fried halloumi sticks were very tough to chew and very little taste. For dinner we got the chicken shwarma and spanakopita. The chicken pieces in the middle weren't bad but on either end the pieces were dry and tough and should not be served. If you're grilling chicken all pieces need to be same size to avoid this problem. The spanakopita was a huge disappointment. It was a round pie which looked good. The filling was some creamy tasteless cheesy mess. Could not taste any spinach or feta cheese. Probably heavy on the ricotta. Service was forgettable. Cannot recommend this place. read more

Our 1st time to Nova Scotia and the west jest flight attendant highly recommended this place. We made reservations for 6:45 and it was busy! We were sat at a view table that was perfect. The staff we all very friendly Our server Pantea was fantastic! She knew the menu and how the food was made. Also made great recommendations on things we may like. The food had so much flavour. Wow, just wow! From the minute you walk in... the decor, the music, the vibe. It's all there. Staff was absolutely wonderful; great recommendations, mannerism and attentiveness. We ordered the fried cheese to start. Well that was an added touch of fun to the table; they light it on fire right at the table in front of you & the flames are huge lol. I also got the sea bass crudo which had a TON of flavours in every bite. The lamb was the main hit. Not only is it so tender you don't need a fork, but the flavours in there were incredible, especially the mint. 100% would recommend. My daughter and I dined here tonight, after a wonderful afternoon on the Halifax waterfront. The food was simply amazing. The beet salad was a surprise to us both, with composition and flavours that were absolutely divine! Our main courses (roasted cauliflower Shakshuka and Beef Tenderloin kebab) were both so delicious. The service was excellent! My one comment to the shift manager is that the lighting was very dark. Many phone flashlights were being used in order to see the menu. I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys flavours that are atypical of your everyday North American cuisine. Can't wait to go back. read more

Ambiance is fantastic - outside views are amazing. Food is fine. Service okay. Go here for the view. I do recommend the bread and olives. Chicken kabob was good too. But I would return to sit on the back patio and look out at the waterfront. read more

Like most do with the new buzz of a restaurant, I move been here numerous times. The one thing you can count on here is that the food is delicious. The drinks and service on the other hand, started off great but have taken a horrible turn. If I'm paying $16-$20 for a cocktail, it better be an experienced mixologist making my drink, not a 20 year old who haphazardly tosses all of the ingredients into a shaker cup and doesn't use a strainer. Last night I had 2 of their cocktails that I've previously tried and they were awful. So off balance and my first one even had little chunks of ice in it because they clearly didn't use a strainer after shaking it. The server was not attentive whatsoever so I didn't even have a chance to mention that my drinks weren't good. We won't be going back for a long time. read more

In my view of an inspection, I've noticed that hygiene wasn't it was very well. I checked the back of the restaurant. Nobody was washing hands after smoking or using the bathroom. Floors and tables were not well kept up and this is my final inspection. The next time restaurant closes. read more

went to this restaurant on Sunday. We asked about ala carte menus and were told they had one. We were seated, then ordered drinks. When the server came to take our food order, it was only then that we were told the ala carte menu items were in addition to the $40 brunch. Not impressed. We told them we would finish our drinks but would eat elsewhere. When I asked for the bill, the server came over and said that their $40 brunch was a good deal and we wouldn't find anything better. He wished us good luck trying to find a place to eat for a better deal! The website doesn't say anything about the brunch being the only option on Sunday. People who walked in as we were leaving left when they were told. At least the guy learned to mention that after our experience. PS - we had a fantastic lunch at the Cable Wharf Kitchen and Patio minutes away. Much more reasonable prices. read more

Overall I really liked this place. The servers were very nice and understanding and the ambiance was great. They had a nice outdoor seating area and the inside had unique bamboo tree lamps. The starters were great, I don't like sardines but they were good and the fried cheese and olives were a great combo. The entrees were good too the chicken leg was flavorful and juicy and the lamb dish had great flavors and the meat was very tender. The only complaint I had was that my lamb sirloin kebab was very undercooked and I had to send it back and ask for well done. read more

Daryâ is a confusing place that is perpetually seeking an identity. From the Moroccan lattices, the Persian name, the Greek, Lebanese, Turkish and north-African cuisine to the Nordic inspired lights and minimalist trees. It's a strange place. The service was exceptional and the staff is attentive. The kitchen delivered food quickly. But the overall food was bland and neutral. It felt like a numb representation of its inspiration. The value is not there for me. The cost is high but the food just didn't deliver. read more
