My husband & I adopted two dogs, (a bonded pair) from DASH in October. We dealt with Sherri through the whole adoption process. We had missed out on adopting dogs from a couple of other rescues. By the time I had filled out the application & been approved the dogs had been adopted. Sherri had her phone number on each of the dogs' bios. While I typed away on the application my husband called Sherri to make sure the dogs were still available. She said that they were still with the rescue & that she would call us back after she reviewed our application. An hour or less later Sherri called & said our application looked great! By 3:00 PM we were at Sherri's home to meet the dogs. We spent about 2 hours with Sherri & the dogs. She answered all of our questions. We also did not feel rushed to make a decision. By 5:00 PM we were driving home with our 2 new "children." We HIGHLY recommend DASH Dog Rescue if you are looking for an Aussie/Herding breed. I have adopted two dogs from DASH in the last 4 months. I could not have asked for an easier adoption process! I had tried to work with another Aussie rescue in Dallas but they were too difficult and I finally gave up on them. I put in an application for a dog and heard from Samantha later that day. The next day I met my dog Copper and adopted him. A few months later I decided I wanted another dog and reached out to Samantha again. She put me in touch with one of her fosters and after chatting with her I picked up Whinny for a weekend trial. She never left. Samantha listened to what I wanted for a dog, and then again for his playmate and was super easy to work with. I would definitely adopt another dog or two from this group if I had more room!! read more

My family adopted a 7-month old puppy from DASH about 4 weeks ago. We saw Jar Jar's picture online and submitted an application. His foster mom, Lauren, called me within a couple of hours after completing our application. We made arrangements for her to bring him over to meet us. We fell in love with Jar Jar immediately and Lauren could tell he liked us and felt he would be happy here. She loved Jar Jar, had taken such great care of him, and was protective of who would be adopting her sweet boy. I was also put in touch with Sam at DASH, who gave me additional information about what all was included in the adoption fee. We talked at length about what a special boy Jar Jar is and she was really happy he had found a good home. Communication with both the foster mom and Sam was excellent. I received the adoption agreement quickly and arrangements were made for pickup from Lauren. The process was super fast, easy and I could tell how much they love and care for their rescues. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to rescue a dog! read more

I adopted the cutest sweetest pup from DASH. I had applied with several other rescues and they were quick to get back to me and get us on the list for the dogs we were interested. The foster mom lived close and was very nice and easy to get in touch with. We adopted our sweet Australian mini and she gets along great with our older dog, behaves very well for an 18 month old and has fit in perfectly. We have had her now 6 months and she is a big part of our family. Thank you to DASH for helping us find her and give our son his own dog and our other dog a best friend. Highly recommend using DASH! Sara. When I met her, she seemed like an honest person that I really enjoyed getting to know. I met with her to meet the dog I was thinking of adopting. Well, as soon as I paid for the dog that I would pick up in 3 weeks, I stopped hearing from her. I kept trying to get a hold of her and finally contacted the dogs family when I wasn't hearing back from her. She lied to me about the dogs age, the dogs demeanor (she bit her owner), charged the other family $350 for obedience school as a result of the biting history, which SHE NEVER mentioned so she could conveniently pocket their money, and pretended like the dog was in a foster home when she was really still living with her owners waiting to be adopted. From the smallest detail, a lie was somewhere in between. After hashing this out with her, she told me she would refund me my money for basically confronting her (even though I told her I still wanted the dog). She said the dog could do better and she would refund me my money. No. that did not happen. I reported the situation to my bank and she sent them the adoption paperwork I had signed claiming I had adopted the dog from them but what really happened is the owner decided not to go through the agency after she found out what Sara had been doing. Months later, I am still fighting with her and my bank to get my money back. While the pictures of the dogs look amazing and sweet, for 350$, the information they have about the dog should be fully presented to you. that is not going to happen at this agency. I would go through another agency that will be honest about the dogs history. She lied to both the owner and me. Please don't go with this organization unless it is really a last resort. read more

Sherri was so so helpful through the process of adopting. She gave me a call to get to know me before we met the dog we were interested in. Sherri asked great questions and we were able to do the same that way we could find a companion that would fit our little family. Sherri was so patient with all of my questions and concerns regarding Emi that way we could really get to know each other, our dog, and everything else. Sherri clearly formed a great bond with Emi and showed her tons of love when Emi was being fostered. This "rescue" should be closed down. They care very little about the dogs and only about the "donation" to be made. I rescued a senior dog through DASH a couple of years ago after he had been horribly abused (i.e. stabbed in the head). There was a meet and greet and a "donation" payment and that was it. I was badgered when I didn't pay the donation fee within hours after saying I'd adopt him. I inquired about vet records and was told the relinquishing family would need to give me permission even though the "rescue" did the vetting. He came home with stitches in his head and back, but I was only given eye drops by the foster family even though I was told he was also prescribed Tramadol. Turns out the foster family has a father who is an opioid addict and must have taken the medication for himself. After the adoption, I was contacted by family members of the individual who stabbed my boy. They should have never been given my personal information. After recently using another rescue upon the passing of my sweet boy, and with talking to my vet about the ordeal with the vet records (no permission is required to release vet records), I'm able to see just how terrible this group is. But for years of joy I was able to give a mistreated senior pup, I absolutely regret using this group. read more

The people running the Rescue were responsive, but getting all the necessary information was painful and delayed. They are very eager to move dogs, great for their bottom line at $350 per adoption but not that great for the future owners. The dog we adopted was seen upon arrival at the rescue but a follow up to make sure that things were cleared up was not done and shortly after adopting the dog we were back at the vets to get more work done. The vet was forth coming that this is the case with North Dallas Dog Rescue, also known as D.A.S.H. They often bring in sick dogs for a single visit when they get them and then they hear from the new owners shortly there after. I will applaud that they finally capitulated to pay for our adopted dogs visit to the vet, where he was prescribed an antibiotic for something that had when we adopted him. The vet stated that had he come back for his follow up the issue would have been found and he could have been treated. While I will not directly recommend this rescue to any of my friends I would not deliberately deter them. I would simply caution them to get all the info and also talk to the attending vet prior to accepting a dog and also to be very wary if they are giving the hard sales pitch that the dog is ready to adopt right NOW. read more

Starting with, if you want to adopt a pet from DASH DO IT! Regardless or the owner being a disgusting human being, she does have dogs who need home. Unfortunately, she does not have good intentions with them. Sarah, the owner, black mailed be after adopting a dog from them saying she will take him away from me because I left them a bad review on Facebook. She then blocked me a deleted my review which is unconstitutional as we, as Americans citizens have the right of freedom of speech and press. I left them a bad review because they posted on Facebook that they needed money and that bothered me a ton! I have business knowledge and I can tell they profit a lot of money from the dogs. What kind of rescue shelter profits money out of dogs?! My dog cost us 350 dollars, and if you check their website there is a surrender fee of 250 dollars minimum, PLUS they need to be healthy and have all shots and vet records up to date. So we thought he dog would even receive proper care during the time being fostered. But No!! My poor dog was obese, his nails were HUGE, his fur was opaque, his eyes were yellow and he was diagnosed with PTSD by a professional dog behavior specialist. Please do not surrender your dog to them. They are making money with this "business" (the owner messaged and called herself this as a business). Sarah, this is for you! You try to take him away from me, and you will find yourself in jail! You don't know me, but here's a little detail about me, I'm not only a military spouse, I'm also sisters of a lawyer. I have read and re checked all my rights and purposes and I could have sued you with the snap of a finger and take all the dogs away from you, I didn't do that because I, for once, have a heart! I care for THE DOGS ONLY, (not you). You are a disgusting person! And I wish you a crap of a life. What you do is horrible and you should feel like crap! Because that's what you are!!! read more

This rescue is a scam. They do not care about the dogs or the people. They say they are a non profit however it is obvious they are making $$. We surrender a dog to them but had very serious issues with the dog that we made very clear to Sara Shepperd when we surrendered her. She had bitten two people working a 2 month period one being an autistic child in the face. She had also killed a mini Shepperd we had whom she had never shown any aggression towards before. We had had her 6 months. She was still a puppy and had just turned one a month before killing our other dog. We had also had another dog die in our yard, she was an older schnauzer. She had been in good health and at first we thought she had just died from old age but after the mini was killed by the standard Shepherd we starting wondering if she had also killed the schnauzer. The two dogs dying happened within a 3 weeks of each other and also were in weeks proximity of the two people being bitten. Sara promised me this dog would be fixed and retrained and when rehomed she would make sure she went with no small pets or any children. She had us pay 250 surrender fee plus a spay fee and a training fee resulting in a total of 650.00 being paid. She had the dog 15 days. She rehomed the dog with the family that we actually purchased the dog from originally. She did not disclose to them the dog had killed our dog or possibly both our smaller dogs, or that she had bitten two people one being a child. This family has children and small pets. They had to pay 325.00 to adopt her. When I turned her over to DASH she went with a new supply of Bravecto, and heart worm preventative, a brand new blanket and toys, brush and such not to mention all her vet records and registration papers. Sarah did not turn any of that over to the new owner. She also tried to tell the new owner that the dog had been spayed. Luckily the new owner is good friends of ours and they contacted us letting us know they had adopted her back out of rescue. We told her of the issues and she began questioning the spay with Sara because it was apparent that there had not been any surgery done on the dog and they had only had her 15 days! I tried to contact Sara about her scamming us and not keeping her promises. There is NO possible way a dog can be retrained to correct bad behaviors in as little as 15 days. Then to not disclose the fact that the dog has bitten people and killed other pets. That's totally irresponsible. Sara only turned our conversation into a personal attack, making derogatory statements about my family. She even at one point compared me to the "Texas cheerleader- killing mom"! All because she said I was pitching a fit because I was upset the dog went to a new mother and daughter and that me and my daughter no longer had the dog. That wasn't the case I was upset she scammed us out of $ that she said she was going to use to retrain the dog and to provide care for her and spay her. It doesn't take 650.00 to house a dog for 15 days. The dog was totally current on shots and heart worm preventatives. There were no vet expenses except the needed spay which wasn't done either plus we surrendered her with enough food for a week. I also never signed any surrender paperwork so technically the dog is still our dog. If there are others out there that have had this same experience please contact me kejohn67@yahoo.com. I promise the next few things I am about to say are the truth and nothing but the truth. On Tuesday, January the 25th, I had to face the unthinkable. I had to find a new home for my 10 month old Aussie. I had a small window on how much longer I was able to keep him and it wasn't long at all. I called every SPCA and Humane Society nearby hoping to surrender him there but I had no luck. That's when I stumbled upon DASH Dog Rescue on google. At first I talked to Rachel who was so nice and sympathetic. She then gave me Sarah's number, both of them were literally God sent. She was able to confirm with me within 3 hours that my fur baby would be FULLY vetted, neutered and be placed in a foster home. I then met up with her at her house for the drop off later that afternoon. She made me feel so good about dropping him off with her. I got multiple follow up text on how he was adjusting with everything and post surgeries. She also kept me in the loop when it came to his FUREVER HOME. She was able to make everything happen 4 days, from his surgery to being adopted. I know I made the right decision going with DASH Dog. Don't let the other reviews scare you, they will always be in my heart for what they did. read more

We tried to adopt a dog from DASH several weeks ago and had an absolutely awful experience. We filled out a very detailed application that clearly stated my husband and I work full time, and are looking for a companion during the day for the dog we already have. We stated that we needed a dog that was good with people, playful, and old enough to be okay with being at home without humans most of the day. Sarah with DASH recommended a pocket aussie mix named Kaia to us and claimed she would be perfect for what we were looking for. The next week we brought our dog over to a foster home to meet Kaia, and they seemed to get along. We then paid the $350 adoption fee and took her home. Once home, it became very clear she was not the dog Sarah claimed she would be. She had extreme separation anxiety, and barked and whined all night until we put her in our room where she could see us. She got extremely upset every time we'd leave the house, and clearly needed to be placed with a family where at least one human was home all day. After a few days she began to be very territorial and protective of me, and aggressive towards out other dog. She was also incredibly aggressive towards my husband and any other man that entered our house, although she was great with me and with other women. Sarah was going through some kind of personal crisis the week we adopted Kaia, and was very difficult to get a hold of. What's worse, even after a week and half of owning Kaia we could not get her vet records from Sarah. She would say she'd left them out on a porch for us, but then wouldn't give us an address to pick them up, then she'd say her roommate had tried to contact me to drop them off but I never received any messages or calls. After a week and a half we knew we were not the right family for Kaia, and ultimately decided to return her to a foster home. Although Kaia is a sweet dog with a lot of potential, it was extremely upsetting that Sarah would have tried to place her with us when our application clearly showed we could not provide the home she needed. It's been two weeks since we returned Kaia, and we haven't heard a word from Sarah. I would have thought that after making a $350 NON-REFUNDABLE donation she would have at least tried to help us find another rescue that fit our family better. read more

I am posting this as a previous dog owner who surrendered my dog to DASH. DASH requires a $250 surrender fee. While this is communicated from the beginning it makes it difficult for those of us who are surrendering because we do not have the money to take care of our dogs. The entire reason I surrendered my dog is because I wanted him to find a good home and not be in a shelter. DASH is quick to reach out and take dogs in but for a hefty fee. On top of that, the owner of DASH was told from the beginning that my dog was not up to date on shots and I was told that was not a problem - that they would take care of it with the surrender fee. The day I surrendered she called me and told me that I had to get his vaccinations taken care of before they would take him in. I was emotionally a wreck and felt like I was taken advantage of but AGAIN I wanted him in a good home and still felt like I was doing the right thing. When I surrendered him he was in healthy physical shape. After he was adopted I reached out to the couple who adopted him (via fb) and was shocked to find out that his toenails were overgrown and he was severely overweight. He looked far from the dog that I surrendered and was fearful. DASH charged $350 for them to adopt him. I took care of his vaccinations and he was fostered for 2 months and was fed Purina One. DASH made $600 by taking my him in and fed him the cheapest and lowest quality food you can buy while he was with them. I understand that they also have dogs that they take in here and there that they do not receive money for until they are adopted but between the fees that they charge and the donations that they accept I am not sure how they are not making a ton of money. My takeaway from this is that if you are considering surrendering your dog to DASH I would advise against it. My dog was not taken care of like he should have been. read more

We adopted a puppy from NDDR in December 2010 and paid their $300 adoption fee. The first night, we discovered that the puppy was quite sick and not ready to be put up for adoption. We took him to the vet less than 24 hours after adopting him. The vet told us he needed expensive tests and treatment. I called Sara Shepperd (owner) and told her this and that we would be unable to care for the puppy. She told me to return him via the Alma Animal Hospital, which I did, and that she would "square" with me later. To date, I haven't gotten my money back and she won't return my calls now. I filed a complaint with the local BBB, which has downgraded them from an A+ to an F. I see the dog is showing up as "adopted" on Petfinder; she has apparently collected another $300 for the dog. read more
