I adopted my sweet boy Benny from TMHPR in Richardson on 7/26/2024. Quite the drive from where I live and it was worth it. They really are thorough in matching their pets with the right family. Correspondence was excellent and I was put on a waitlist as other families were also interested in Benny. The staff are friendly and professional and took the time in the meet and greet to get to know about me and my sweetheart Cavachon Chloe. You could say Benny picked us and it instantly melted my heart. It was a match made in Heaven and I'll always be eternally grateful. I highly highly recommend this rescue because it's obvious they really love helping to find and match the animals to their forever families!! read more

I wouldn't use this facility. It was great when it was run by a previous owner years ago. The lady that runs it now said she would let me foster my cat and then went back on her word. I won't donate to them again. read more

Saw a young adult dog on Chewy site and he was available for adoption through TMHPR. Did meet and greet at center; they did home visit ; we now have our little guy 3 months. His foster family was terrific and we have a great little guy! I'm so grateful we found TMHPR! read more

Don't waste your time going here. I've gone twice now and both times the dogs I was interested in weren't there as the foster doesn't show up as planned. Our hopes were up and we were excited about meeting dogs we thought would be a match for our family from the website and the dog is not there. This used to be organized years ago but it's not anymore. read more

If they don't like you, they make up excuses about everything and discriminate. Went through all the processes, sent a video of our home, and told us we were next in line for a kitten that bonded with me. passed all checks, then they made up a policy not listed on any application or on the website they have. Said "Oh you live over 50 miles from here" that's too far. We made to 59-mile trips to visit kittens. On the second trip we drove all the way there and they said they emailed us that the kittens weren't coming( An email we did not see). So we looked at other kittens and we gave them a chance only to be told that all the kittens were quarantined for roundworm, while we were there. They don't answer emails within days or at all. They discriminate against men and apparently don't like firefighters, who mind you, still save cats from trees when called to do so. The ones that are suffering are the cats themselves at this place because by the time you might be approved, they are adults or infected with parasites because they don't know what they are doing. Worst adoption agency!! Dont even look at their pets to avoid getting your heart broken!! Director gave us her personal number but couldnt get responses from her, this after you give out your personal information on an application. Then to be told the foster is considering keeping her!! That is fine but the kitty was still on their post days later. This agency seriously is about "their agenda" they have no heart, cold, are rude, extremely judgemental, and twist things to make you look bad. The director uses the excuse for their behavior that they are volunteers. She throws around that she is too busy because she is moving her lawfirm. I dont care that you are an attorney, you are rude and heartless! Not one apology because there is a god complex. Beware dont even look for an addition to your family here!!! There are so many babies out there and agencies that arent full if drama, less expensive and over the top judgmental. Your money will be spent better elsewhere! read more

So far, I am not impressed. We were trying to adopt a Bischon mix, Bentley! We have a very social one , Sheldon, about the same age and size. Without calling my references, because I checked, and without setting up a meet and greet to see if they will get along, they determined we would not be a good fit solely on the application where they are the same size. The email was short and did not even express another good fit they might have. They had a great family to deal with and just blew us off. We are very disappointed in what they say on their website and what really happens in their adoption process. We take really great care of Sheldon, have a great vet, a great home, and a great puppy day care he loves! We felt badly for Bentley as he and Sheldon hate being crated and let him sleep with us, we cater to him and Bentley would have had a new forever home and a great brother! I adopted one of our puppies from TMHPR, and I can't say enough great things about them. I've been an independent street rescuer for a couple of years, and I can't tell you the number of times I called and emailed dozens of rescue groups around the D/FW Metroplex to ask for assistance in placing a rescued street dog into a foster home. I myself lived in a one-bedroom apartment with my husband and our own 2 dogs at the time (we now live in a house with a fenced yard), so we weren't in a position to foster ourselves. Unfortunately, the vast majority never even bothered to respond to emails, let alone offer assistance. I didn't expect them to jump through hoops to help me, knowing how overwhelmed the rescue community is, but I was hoping for at least some assistance in finding someone who could help us locate a rescue group with room to spare. Referrals, assistance with finding a low-cost vet -- ANYTHING. Even a simple "Sorry, but we can't help you" email would have sufficed. TMHPR is one of the very, very rare few that not only responds to its many, many emails and phone calls, but they also go out of their way to help a sincere rescuer find help. They don't always have the answer, but they work hard to help those who truly want to make a difference. I've since become a volunteer and have helped them redesign their website, launch and maintain an email marketing campaign, and work on fundraising. Even though I live pretty far from their adoption center, I don't mind the commute at all -- not only am I working on a cause I'm truly passionate about, I'm also working with one of the best-run organizations in town. Definitely recommended to anyone looking to add to their family or simply wanting to volunteer! read more

Good intentions, no understanding. In our case a working dog was fostered by and placed by a sedentary suburbanite. She described the puppy as an inside dog that just needed a fenced yard; a silly and misinformed guess. Appointments are missed and changed. IMO untrained, unsupervised, volunteers need a Board for oversight read more

One of the best rescue organizations I have ever worked with. The staff is excellent, the location is clean and they do a phenomenal job matching dogs and cats with the appropriate new forever family. I got my furbaby from TMHPR, and also one I fostered but decided I could not live without her, so we have the 2 sweetest dogs in the world!! :-) They are an awesome rescue. They also step up to rescue street dogs and hard luck cases when other rescues are desperate. I love that! read more

A tight-knit group of dedicated volunteers. They are constantly saving dogs and getting them ready for adoption. I adopted Tank from them and I could not be happier. He is sweet and such a good boy. You probably won't get a dog fully obedience trained, but I think the training helped Tank and I bond. Highly Recommended. read more

Cannot say enough good things about this rescue group. They are super hard-working, VERY hands on with the care of their animals and support for their fosters. I have done both transport, and fostered, for TMHPR and I think the world of Elise and her volunteers. And the best thing about them, for me? VERY level-headed and NO DRAMA. (Unlike some rescue groups.) If Elise says she will take a dog into her rescue - she does. And she and her team find the best home for that dog. Period. Keep up the great work! read more

We love TMHPR! They rescued our Jake from running wild in east Texas. Another rescue group tried to catch him and his sister, but could only catch the sister. TMHPR members took the extra effort to go get the sister and use her to lure Jake. Later, they worked with Jake for many months to overcome his anxiety. When we met Jake and wanted him TMHPR was very careful to make sure we were a good home for him. This story has the happiest ending ever. We have the most loving and sweet dog in the world...thanks to TMHPR! read more

I have been wowed by Take Me Home Pet Rescue. I fostered a dog for them. They provided me with all veterinary care, food, guidance, and most importantly concern for the animal that I took into my home. They took a very sickly dog out of a kill shelter and saved it. They do this all the time. I ended up keeping the dog I fostered and continue to foster and help. Rescue is hard work. Take me Home takes in some difficult cases. Dogs that have broken legs, mange, dogs that nobody else wants, dogs on death row, and dogs that have never been loved. They are transformed once they arrive at Take Me Home. read more

We tried to adopt a puppy from them last week during clear the shelters day and were told that because we had 2 registered females with breeding rights we were not responsible pet owners because our dogs were not spayed. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more
