My travel companion and I stopped at Dassh for a late breakfast on the way back home after a trip to Oregon wine country. We both ordered a breakfast sandwich and an iced tea. We were given our iced teas, and due to the small size of the place were asked to wait outside for our sandwiches. When we got outside, we both discovered almost no ice in our lukewarm iced teas on a decidedly hotter-than-lukewarm day. The person who took our order (the owner?) popped out to deliver food to another group who were waiting, and we asked her if we could get a cup of ice for our lukewarm teas. She told us that "I don't have an ice machine and I buy bagged ice so I can't give you any more. Sorry." Ouch. Little empathy in the words, less in the tone they were delivered with. Evidently iced tea that is less than iced is what you get at Dassh. Having to then wait for 20 minutes for our sandwiches in direct sun on a 90+ degree day didn't make things any less unpleasant. With the volume of great reviews for this place, and the excellence of the sandwiches (definitely 5 star in our case), this review likely won't move the needle for yelp readers, nor does it need to - it seems quite clear you'll get great food here. But as this listing is claimed, I thought the owner should know that as a supporter of small businesses, I felt treated just as coldly (or lukewarmly?) as I feel when I visit a multi-store franchise. Worse even, since I was sold something that quite clearly couldn't be delivered (that is, iced teas with a reasonable amount of ice), and the request to make it right was declined. That's a one-star performance regardless of how great the sandwiches were. Maya Angelou once said "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Unfortunately, Dassh, that applies here. You can do better. read more

I came here because of the good reviews on Yelp. We had a breakfast sandwich, quiche, and got 2 half-sandwich wraps to take on the road for lunch later. The breakfast sandwiches sounded good, they were on bagels. We asked if we could have it on a croissant, because I saw that they had croissants. One worker said, "sure" but then a woman who I believe was the owner, simply said "no," that I would have to buy the croissant separately (I think $3.00 or $3.50) in addition to the sandwich (apparently no discount for not using the bagel for the sandwich). I was ready to pay the extra, but she kept telling me how expensive it would be, so it really seemed like she didn't want to make one on a croissant. So we decided not to push and went with the bagel, and it was good. Just a weird exchange with the owner. She acted like she didn't want to do anything special for me, even though I was willing to pay for it. Quiche was flavored well, but it was wrapped in paper, then microwaved and all the cheese stuck to the paper. It was very hard to eat, and I was thinking that the owner probably never tried her own quiche to go. Otherwise she'd think of a better way to package it. The half-sandwich wraps weren't made fresh, she said they make them only every 3 days. (seriously?!) They do make fresh wraps, but I was 15 minutes early for their lunch time and they wouldn't make me a fresh wrap, because I was too early. Although she happily made a salad for the woman behind me. They are very friendly to "regulars" who they greet by name and chit chat with. Several regulars came and went during the 20 minutes it took for them to make my breakfast sandwich and warm up the quiche. I really didn't experience any of that friendliness in my direction. Perhaps it was obvious that I was only passing through town, but I wouldn't expect my being and out-of-towner to be a reason to treat me with less courtesy. read more

They have Udi bread as gluten-free option on sandwiches. They also have gluten-free pastries and breakfast options, although it is not an exclusively gluten-free bakery. They offer almond milk for lattes and my chai was yummy. Husband had regular bread on his sandwich and regular pastry and found them both delicious. I was most impressed with how accommodating and conscientious the owner was about my dietary restrictions. I didn't know the sandwich had cheese but when I ordered my latte with almond milk, she asked me about the sandwich. read more

Baby's first Yelp review right here! Great little bakery. Fresh pastries and incredibly friendly staff. You can tell this is a local favorite because they had tons of customers come in that they knew by first name. This is just the kind of small town shop we were craving. We ate inside and watched the baker make fresh bagels behind the counter. My husband and I ordered the biscuits and gravy and the bacon jalapeño quiche. The biscuits are on the sweeter side, which balanced well with the peppery sausage sauce. The quiche is very moist and a generous portion. This is a fantastic Grants Pass shop. We'll probably return tomorrow before we end our vacation! read more

Yay, I'm the first one! This bakery used to be Jumpin Bean cafe on 6th St in Grants Pass, but now they have moved into the downtown area and became a bakery. Same owners, same atmosphere, only newer space in a better location. Very friendly service and a good selection of pastries and treats. Great coffee, free Wi-Fi! I had Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Quiche there this morning, followed by a Cinnamon Roll. Can't wait to have lunch there. read more

Stopped in on our drive home to Portland. My husband and I love the small and family business feel. Pastries looked amazingly incredible but we were going for the breakfast sandwiches. The hubs ordered the ham breakfast sandwich on an English muffin, it was very good but we were both very disappointed that they no longer make their own English muffins as everyone raved about the homemade breads in their reviews. I ordered an iced coconut chia and the veggie breakfast sandwich on a pesto bagel without cheese, my sandwich was ok but I found the bagel hard to eat and my sandwich was slightly bland. If I could go back and have a redo I would go for a cinnamon roll or breakfast burrito and we would definitely stop again. Total for my drink and both sandwiches was $18.25 read more

If you want great delicious baked goods, this is the place! If you want friendly service, this is definitely not the place. I have been to dassh twice. First time I stopped by they were pretty new and the owner, I believe, was overwhelmed. I didn't hold it against them. I decided to try again on a Friday morning recently. There was only one other customer there. When I walked in nobody greeted me. I was asking questions about different pastries and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was annoying the girl! She never once smiled or offered any form of hospitality. I am sorry for this review because I really want to support local businesses. Owners really should hire friendly staff. There is no reason a customer should leave feeling like the employees could care less. I mean, really, what is wrong with them. They are in the food service business. read more

It's no secret to people who know me , I love bakeries, especially good ones. The Dassh is a wonderful bakery which is getting harder to find . They have a nice variety of pastry items along with other breakfast and lunch goodies. I live almost 40 miles away but when I come to Grants Pass to do my shopping I always make a point of stopping here to stock up bags of goodies to take home and restock my freezer. It's also great because they offer new things all of the time yet keep some of the standard items that people have come to love. I highly recommend a visit here if you enjoy well made pastries and other delights. read more

My coworkers and I are OBSESSED with their sandwiches. Two of us get the club and one of us gets the roast beef, both are super good. The bread is AMAZING and the pickles are super good too. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Dassh is now making ham and cheese croissants. Yay!! Of course they are awesome, but IMHO they could cut the amount of ham in half, which would allow them to make even more!!! When I lived in So Cal just about every donut shop sold H&C croissants, so I was really glad to find a place up here that makes them. But none from down south tasted as buttery as the ones at Dassh. To the proprietors, thank you for adding H&C croissants to your menu. Now I will have to get one each of ham and bacon when I come in :^P read more

This place is pretty darn good and a more than reasonable stop for locals and people transiting I-5. I had a mixed experience that leans in the positive direction with room to grow. My visit was necessitated by a need for breakfast and caffeine. My intent was to enjoy a croissant breakfast sandwich and latte. They only make bagel breakfast sandwiches and wraps. I was disappointed about inability to have a croissant, though, the bagel sandwich was excellent. Farm fresh eggs, thick cut bacon, melted cheese, and a taste garlic aioli. Only way to improve this sandwich would be if they made their own bagels in house or sourced from another local bakery, and not Winco. This place is a bakery so it's kind of disappointing to hear they use mass produced bagels from the grocery chain. I hope they start making their own bagels in the future. I was pleased to hear the coffee is locally roasted. However, the espresso is a blend of 6-8 different beans and my personal preference is for single origin or maybe a blend of two or three max. Additionally, this particular roast is very acidic with a dominating flavor. In ordering, their original recipe only calls for 1/2 oz of flavor and with the powerful flavor of the coffee beans, 1oz or more is necessary to achieve a noticeable blend. Thankfully, the baristas were very knowledgable about all their products with accurate descriptions. I asked for a little extra flavor and the girls made a wonderful latte on the first try. In other reviews I read about the quality of their cinnamon rolls and wanted to try one. Unfortunately, I got their late enough in the morning, about 1045, and they were out. I guess cinnamon rolls are quite popular here. Wanting to try a baked good of some sort, I asked about the Coconut Macaroons which looked very yummy in the case. The girl behind the counter mentioned they were gluten free, which initially turned me off, then she described the treats as tasting better than a Samoa Girl Scout cookie- which happens to be one of my favorite cookies. Despite the gluten free label, I decided to try one and holy cow, it was amazing! GS Samoa's can't even come close to DASSH macaroons. These were truly awesome. I'll look forward to eating here again and trying other items out. It'll be interesting to see how my next experience is. read more

First of all, the cinnamon rolls were absolutely amazing; the roll itself was nice and light and there was just the right amount of cinnamon and icing. We also tried a vegetable quiche and a ham and cheese croissant, both of which were delicious. Its super yummy as were the desserts not shown here because we ate them:) Priced more competitively than the near by local ice cream shops. We were down visiting my grandma and like to take her out for coffee...we typically go to Rogue Roasters, but wanted to try somewhere new that offered other milk alternatives. Her favorite is coconut milk and this place had it so we thought we would try it. I am assuming this is mostly a bakery/deli that also happens to have coffee. The coffee was awful and the milk was lukewarm on my grandmas mocha. I ordered an iced chai and couldn't taste anything but the coconut milk. I even asked to make sure she added the chai, so she added a little more and I still couldn't taste it. I was so disappointed. They seemed annoyed that we were even there. I will stick with Rogue Roasters from now on! read more
