When I joined I asked if they have 24 hour access, as advertised on their website. This is important to my business because several times a month I need to pick things up at 5-6 AM and drop off after 11PM. I was assured they did. I was told that I could pick up a key on my next visit after joining. I tried knocking on the office door the next time I came in - nothing. I called and was told that I would have to come between 9 am and 11 am to get the key. The next week I did come at 10:15. Still nobody in. Finally today after calling three times with no answer, I was told that they are no longer giving out keys for afyer hours access, and are closing at 8pm. I dont mind that they close early, thats honestly what most storage units do. But I was clear when i joined that I was joining them specifically for 24 hour access, which i need for my business. They lied. Repetedly. Im out at the end of the month. read more

I dunno about professional, but Dennis is certainly personable. My unit is a bargain and I'm glad to do business a local business run by a real person who answers his cell phone on the first ring. Overall, I'm a happy customer, but: The units are not air conditioned or lit. They're just partitions in shipping containers sitting outdoors in a half-abandoned wasteland. No frills whatsoever. Also, Dennis doesn't send you bills or take credit cards. You have to remember to send your check to him at a PO box that's not listed on his website. Going on a year using Sheehan storage, all I can say is that it's one of those places that preserves the character of old San Francisco - It's unpretentious, economical, accommodating, clean, and accessible 24hrs a day. Dennis, the proprietor, is affable and very professional. He explains things without trying to upsell, gives you honest recommendations for how much space you will need, and keeps the place running smoothly without drama. What he does not do is spend money on uniforms, banners, signage, or much advertising, near as I can tell. He seems to rely principally on word of mouth for his business, and that speaks well to the reputation he maintains. read more

I have rented storage units at Sheehan on two separate occasions and both experiences have been positive. I love the location and how accessible the units are. The pricing is very competitive and Dennis, the owner, is an all around hardworking , good person. Denis was quick to answer his phone and respond to my requests. The units are simple partitions in shipping containers. The location is all the way down at the end of Cesar Chavez. I didnt feel comfortable being there alone at night but that is probably just good common sense. I never felt concerned during the day. I highly recommend this as storage space. read more

2nd time for bay area and 4th time overall I've been let down by Yelpers since 2010. This place was not open (7 p.m. which is still listed on their Yelp profile) during the times advertised (when a 2.5 star rated U-haul in the city was) so I ended up not having time to find a 4 or 5 star rated storage place. I've rented at storage places in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and all throughout Florida, so it's a bit of a disappointment that San Francisco, California doesn't have the same hours most places around the country seem to. read more

My husband has been renting a storage unit from Dennis for 8+ years. He visits daily to pick up tools for work and then drop them off before coming home. This place is not a fancy storage facility with temperature control and vending machines, so don't come in expecting that. It is down near the pier in a sorta sketchy area. I shopped all around for storage in SF and Sheehan Storage is the best place. The prices are reasonable and you have 24 hour access to your storage unit. Most of the other storage places close early and have shorter hours on weekends, which can be very inconvenient when you need to access your unit. The place is clean and well maintained and safe. Dennis, the owner. could not be more friendly and helpful; he will even help you load and unload! His assistant is great and the place is super easy to access. Been using this place for almost 2 years now and am quite pleased. Got a huge storage unit for $110/month which is significantly less than those fancy-pants storage places. Units are clean and safe. If you go at night, just bring a good flashlight since there aren't any in the units. The location seems a little questionable at first but it's not as bad as it seems. Once you go a few times, you get used to it. I've never felt anything but safe and there's usually always someone around and usually I see Dennis working on something. Overall, a great place and Dennis was more than accomodating and honest. Highly recommend for storage when you don't want to pay an arm and a leg. read more

WONDERFUL! Love is an understatement. Because I'm about to start grad school and am on a crazy tight budget, I had to call a bunch of places to find one where I can store my things for the year (my first year of school is abroad). If you're hunting, here's a tip: some will charge a large monthly fee, and some will charge a smaller monthly fee but with the requirement that you pay a large moving fee for their moving services. Sheehan, miraculously, charged a bargain price that beat out all the competition. Furthermore, they're awesome. Dennis is maybe one of the nicest people I've ever met. He brought a friend (employee?) along to help me move, who was also wonderful. Overall, the process was totally painless (dare I say "enjoyable?"). I wish I could give them ten stars. read more
