I had my 1st progressive pair of glassed done couple weeks ago. I experienced severe head ache, distorted vision led to nausea and dizziness. I went back to let them adjusted the frame twice, but still didn't work. I left the message to see the doctor to help me with an issues. Guess what, I have to wait another 2 weeks or more? Well, to be honest i felt the staffs are pushy and blame about something else and don't even want to assist in fixing the problem. They made me feel like, my mistake and I have to pay extra money for it? I was greeted by an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Dr. Kowalski was a straight shooter which I liked. I asked about contacts and he said I'd be miserable since I have a case of dry eye. He gave me some ideas and coupons for OTC eye drops to remedy that issue before going to contacts. I ended up getting a new pair of sunglasses. A few weeks later my 1 year old cracked them in half. Best Optometrist my family has ever been to!!! He is amazing with how much time he takes to make sure your contacts fit properly! We drive in from Laguna Beach to see him. Also his progressive glasses are the bomb!!! He uses a computer to detect where your pupil is and it's so accurate. Last year we went elsewhere here in Laguna but they didn't have the computer to mark your pupil so they did it with a marker directly on the glasses. Could never wear them! Was a waste of money! Been coming here for the past three years but been a client of Dr. Kowalski since he was at Spectrum Vision Center six years ago. He's a wonderful optometrist, none better than him. Many times in the past, I've had optometrists either give inaccurate exams or they are just plain rude. Dr. Kowalski does neither. He always recommends the best fitting contact lenses for my eyes and does a great job checking my eye health. His office is very upscale, has a great selection of frames, and his staff is friendly. I needed to have my daughters eyes checked because she has had trouble seeing in class. I have never been here before but wanted her to have a good experience and decided to try it since it said WALK INS WELCOME. Well I got there right at opening, waited a few minutes to speak to the girl at the desk, only to be told they are too full to see my daughter. I told them their website says walk ins welcome anytime and they are FLEXIBLE. She responded "not today". If you are going to advertise something on the website, you need to follow through with that EVERY SINGLE DAY. If not, you need to change your website. read more

Great customer service. I had a really bad eye allergy and couldn't get into Kaiser right away because they kept giving me the run around. Good thing I go to date springs optometry for my regular eye check ups. The optometrist exams my eyes, gave me instructions on how to take care of it, was willing to meet with me on short notice, and had very good communication and follow up to make sure that my eyes were doing better. I have been to this office a couple times since 2010... What fabulous customer service. The assistants are well versed on their responsibiities, and very professional! The office is immacculate, and has a very comfortable environment. I have been to offices that are stuffy, or dark, and this one is not the case! Dr. Kowalski is always able to answer my questions with confidence and encourages me to call if I have any other questions. It is obvious he cares for his patients and is passionate about eye health. I enjoy coming in knowing that I will only have to complete one eye exam because he has the latest technology (whereas "other" places do some things by hand and I had to visite more than once). I have been very pleased with my glasses and the options that are offered in frames. My lenses were crystal clear; I could see perfectly and felt comfortable in wearing and knowing my eyes were being corrected. I highly recommend this optometry center!! This man is of Rock Star status! Without his expertise and aggressive approach, I might not be nearly as optimistic as I am today. I was seen by him last Wednesday because I feared the worst. I had fallen asleep with my, prescribed by the manufacturer as, sleep in contacts. FYI: NEVER, EVER SLEEP IN YOUR CONTACT LENSES! What I originally thought was just a bad case of pink eye, turned out to be a very severe corneal ulcer. I had this happen about 5 years ago, but that was mild in comparison to this. Dr. "Mac" immediately started treating me with an eye antibiotic which he administered every 5 minutes himself for 3 hours. Not his assistant, but he, personally. He wouldn't let me leave his office until his staff had found a specialist and gotten me an emergency appointment. Two immediate things came to mind. He believed this was a very bad ulcer, and he was genuinely concerned for my health and well being. He wanted to be sure I received the care needed to give me the best possible outcome. When the specialist turned me away on Wednesday afternoon (another story, for another time), Dr. "Mac" wrote me a Rx for a very expensive eye antibiotic and then found me a coupon that knocked the price down by 2/3! Who, does that! Never, have I experienced such compassion and caring from an entire staff! I strongly recommend this man and the wonderful people in his office. YOU GUYS ROCK! As of today, on my second visit to my new specialist, I am happy to report that he believes my eye looks 80% better than it did last Friday. While there is a way to go, I am very hopeful. To say I have poor vision would be like saying the Hunchback has a small bump on his back. I can not function without glasses or contacts. Period. (Well, sleep, yes, I sleep without either. And sex. But that's it). Having such a strong prescription of course requires a greater expense so the glasses don't look like extremely unattractive Coke bottles. High index and thin lenses later, they tend to run $500, with insurance, between $200-300. Thus, my procrastination on the glasses buying. I haven't had a new pair of glasses in six years and my pair I had once loved so dearly had broken and been glued back together far too many times in the last year. Around Christmas I started getting some serious headaches when I wore my glasses so I could tell I needed some new ones. I dug out my vision card (Vision Plan of America) and looked up the various eye doctors on the approved list. There were a couple really close to me in Temecula, but I checked out reviews on Yelp and I looked around the web some more until I found Dr. Kowalski's office. Simple things like having a well maintained website and a Facebook page mattered to me as I wanted someone keeping up with technology. When I called I was able to get an appointment within two days and in the morning before work. I loved that I was able to go to their web site and download the patient information sheet to fill out before the appointment. Much more convenient and I got the "ooh, I'm a big girl all prepared" feeling. Now, the office. First, I must exclaim how much I loved how the office is set up. The windows bring in such a nice natural light (when it came to picking lenses this helped a lot). The front/reception desk doesn't take up a large footprint and is off to the side and the eyeglass fitting stations aren't smack in the middle either. A very refreshing open office. I also liked how the waiting area was around the corner from everything else so those who are waiting to see the Dr. and those looking at glasses aren't disturbed by the other. Simple, non-obtrusive photography lined the waiting area, including a picture of Dr. Kowalski and his family. Great touch! Ok, now to the actual eye exam. I hate eye exams. As a child I wore glasses at an early age, before I even turned a year old. We have the hereditary Stickler Syndrome in our family so my parents were pretty on top of our eye care, with regular visit either every six months or a year. The whole "this one...or this one" memory is far to strong than it should be. So, I was anxious to get this over with. I was greeted with a friendly smile by Dr. Kowalski and we went back (across the hall really) to his office. He looked over my info sheet, we discussed family history and then explained all the fancy machinery. I couldn't recall a thing he described but they seem much more simpler and comfortable than I recall from even six years ago. My favorite part was when he showed me pictures of my eye on his screen. Never, in all my years of visiting eye doctors has any of them shown me my eye. Awesome. He did this while explaining about my eye pressure and other issues and pretty much connecting the dots for me in regards to my eye history. It's so amazing when doctors treat you with respect and share info so you can be aware of your own health. So very important! After the eye exam I was a bit overwhelmed looking for frames, but eventually started from the left side and moved along the options. I knew my insurance covered a decent amount and that I could handle the remaining amount but I didn't want to jump into a pair of frames before I knew I really liked them. The style I was looking for is pretty common but I am extremely picky with color so it took a bit. I was trying to decide between some gorgeous teal frames or the deep purple ones and the assistant actually suggested the purple ones even though they were $60 less. So, purple it was. I did upgrade some of my lenses options because I could afford it (had the scratch protection injected in lense instead of a simple coating and had them trimmed down) but it was worth it. The best part? I ordered my glasses on a Saturday and received a call on Wednesday that they were in. Even the woman who called was a bit surprised, but hey, I'll take it. it is amazing to SEE again. My prescription actually improved and items/people have edges to them. Like Sully's fur in Monster's Inc., I wanna reach out and touch my friends' hair, it's unreal. My contacts don't bug me as much, but I'll be returning in the next couple months for an eye fitting and to purchase those as well. I highly suggest Date Springs Optometry and Dr. Kowalski. His staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the Dr himself was a welcomed change. I made an appointment but they did have a sign up saying they took walk-ins as well. read more

With so many 5 stars reviews, it almost feels needless for another one. When we went to this Optometry Office it almost felt like going for a walk, NO PRESURE at all. The staff took the time to help us and treated us like their friends and family, listening and making you feel that they CARE. The office is clean and well maintained, plenty of the latest equipment, good variety of products and what it's maybe the most important: A doctor, Dr. Kowalski, that cares and likes his practice, PERIOD. I just left Dr. Kowalski's office disappointed and, quite frankly, very upset. I was very happy to find the office that could accommodate a last minute same-day appointment for a new patient on Saturday for an eye exam and contact lens fitting. The check-in was seamless and easy. The exam and checkup with the doctor went well. Why the 1 star? The office manager Sandra should take some interpersonal classes to learn how to interact with people without coming off insincere, rude, or disingenuous. Also, prescription for glasses does not include the pupillary distance and they have a policy against providing it to anyone for "liability reasons". Not sure why, though I suspect it is to make the patient purchase glasses from them. My previous provider had no issue in providing mine that was measured by a machine. When we returned shortly after leaving the first time, the doctor relented and allowed Sandra to measure... but she said she'll do it with a ruler instead of the machine so they "are not liable". Sure, measure it manually with a ruler instead of the machine. She verbally gave us a measurement, but she gave us a measurement 3mm off from a previous year's measurement. I'm not an eye doctor, but I doubt the distance between your pupils could change that much in 1 year. I will not return. read more

I called a ton of places around the Temecula/Murrieta area looking for a first time appointment in December, but everywhere I called was booked. It was really stressful. I went to the chiropractor next door to Date Springs Optometry and on my way out I saw them. I decided to chance it, since it was my day off. I walked in and asked if they had any availability for an exam that day and she got me in within 45 minutes! I left to get lunch and came back 15 minutes early for my appointment, so the assistant started my exam early! When I met Dr. Kowalski I was relieved to find that, despite his foreign sounding name, he does not have a strong accent which would be difficult to decipher. He took the time to explain to me the conditions in my eyes, he helped me understand why I get migraines, and he was very pleasant and friendly. I was surprised to see how much he has invested in having the latest and most progressive technology in optometry. I felt very well taken care of. And to be honest, the entire experience was life-changing because I haven't had a migraine in a month! If you schedule and appointment with Dr. Kowalski I really don't think you will be disappointed! read more
