Not that I enjoy multi grain bread (I'm a purist- white bread only please) but the simple fact the location is in Milwaukie a local town I am very familiar with. (Well, If I am familiar with it, why did I not know about this place?) Dave's Killer Bread can be found in many box stores and larger markets across the west coast, including Hawaii. I first heard of Dave's Killer Bread from a friend who said his son is a fan of Dave's Killer Bread.... so, those who know me know that "I will try anything once" Bread aside, I had the opportunity to stop at the actual bakery and outlet store and to my surprise!!!!! Not only bread BUT bagels, chips, other breads all in a variety of flavors was available for purchase at outlet store prices. In addition, they had locally sourced honey, locally made sauces (and hot sauces) and much more. They do have the day old bread and also have freezer loaves. There is ONE cashier who verbally, from her cash register guides you through what the daily specials are. Using the price of a loaf of bread, I can safely say this outlet is priced at LEAST $2 less that the box stores or markets. You just have to get there is all. 5/15/25- I love a good english muffin..especially if they have a few more nutritional values added to them and can still remain crunchy.. First time with these new Rockin Grains.. Topped with almond butter and an organic apricot jam.. Tastes and crunch like a regular English muffin-.. but with benefits.. They do look smaller- but I guess it could be good if you're watching your intake. Glad there's so many options and stores to shop at.. read more

Christmas morning seems like a great time to post a review that has a story of redemption in it. It was a few years back when I first tried Dave's killer bread. I was at my mothers house and we were having breakfast and she served some bread that I was pretty impressed with. When I asked her about it, she told me it was Dave's Killer bread. She then proceeded to tell me about the history of the bread, and that Dave, a convict, had gotten out of prison and eventually taken over his family baking business. Their business model involves giving people that have come out of incarceration a second chance by teaching them a skill, and giving them employment. I was very intrigued with the story, and looked up to find out more. It turns out the business was sold by Dave several years back, And David has apparently had problems staying clean. Well, the ongoing struggles with addiction, or a sad story for Dave, Thankfully, another baking company purchased the bread company, but kept the same business model. Today they run a brand that has several products, including the nations, best selling organic loaves of bread. If you have never tried them, I would highly suggest that you do! And as far as Dave... Although he is no longer involved in the bread business, he is still an advocate for second chances, and redemption. read more

This is a small outlet store attached to the factory. You can't really miss it as you can follow your nose and smell the aroma of bread baking! They do not offer factory tours, although if you peek through the windows you can see the sandwich bread loaves making their way through the cooling towers before they get packaged. They have to cool down a bit or else they will condensate in the bags, making an unpleasant texture and potentially allowing for microbial growth. The lady staffing the store was pleasant and knowledgeable about the products they sell. Definitely worth stopping by! read more

A small store with a decent selection. Great bread and great staff. They love what they do and love to tell you anything you want to know about the bread. You are able to view the back chilling towers from the store. Good options to choose from. Fresh, to day old, to imperfect loafs. Loaf breads and English muffins and bagels available. This review is old, but still important to provide. We found the Dave's Killer Bread outlet one day while visiting Bob Mills. Dave's Killer Bread outlet is located directly across the street. I learned about and began trying Dave's Killer Bread originally through Costco, so finding the original bakery and outlet was a nice surprise. They have a variety of breads as well as items like English muffins. It's a great place to stock up; remember bread freezes well. They also carry a few additional items like local honey, jams, etc. While it is a small shop, they have a huge variety of their bread products to choose from. What I really appreciated was that this store also provides free bread often to those who may not be able to afford such staples of food for their families. They are truly a mission driven organization both in the organizational structure of the company as well as providing and supporting their local community. Whoever is on the closing shift keeps shutting down early. Like 30-40mins early. I'm right out front and this is the third time in the last month that I have come down, only to find the store is closed earlier than posted. I don't have much time after work to make it here, so it is really frustrating when I can't shop during posted store hours. Please stay open till advertised hours or adjust the hours if you are slow at the end of the day. At least your customers would then know and be able to plan accordingly. read more

Dave's Killer Bread began in 2005, at the Portland Farmers Market when Dave Dahl and his nephew brought some loaves of bread to sell. They knew they had something killer and unique. I totally agree with them. I barely took note of the commercial on television. One day I saw Dave's on the shelf at my local grocery. When I read the label and ingredients I decided I'd give it a try. I decided I wanted the "Powerseed". Let me tell you this bread has made me look forward to breakfast! It so crunchy after I toasted it in the toaster oven. I like it best smothered in peanut butter. It's also great with my liverwurst and mustard sandwich! Haven't been here in five years. After walking in, we won't be back. Not stocked at all. The store has shrunk considerably from last time we were there. They used to have a great selection of items and now the smaller store sits with empty cases and shelves. The person working was on their phone on social media, not working. Dave and Bob. Who knew these two spots would be tourist attractions but they are across the street from one another. The bonus of stopping at the factory store is the selection and option to get imperfect loaves for low cost. The bread is great and so fresh you have to enjoy in your favorite Sammy. read more

I hate "healthy" bread. Every one I have tasted I didn't like it. I work out 6 days a week and im an in shape man, so I try to eat healthy. I pretty much cut all bread out of my diet because of the taste of the bread that is ok to eat. Until, my mom told me to try this brand. I love it and have been eating it since then. I don't get how this doesn't have 5 stars for all the reviews. It doesn't taste as good as other breads but things that are bad for you, usually taste better. Long time customer of Dave's bread. Very tasty and healthy but believe I have bought my last loaf. Could not believe that the most expensive bread on the grocery shelf has been shrunk down to a child size slice. It is not even fit to make a grilled cheese or any other adult size sandwich. While I love Dave's Killer Bread, I'm not a fan of this outlet store. When I think "outlet" I think really good deals and far better prices than if I bought the bread fresh in the supermarket. This was not the case here. Unless you are buying in bulk, the discount is maybe a buck. Heck, most supermarkets have deals better than that. Quantity and variety very limited. I walked in, looked around, checked out the prices, walked out without purchasing anything. Other outlet stores become a destination. This one is a pass. read more

I love Daves Killer Bread, but recently I purchased a loaf of "Good Seed" and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the difference in the slices! I was super disappointed! I buy this brand, because not only is it delicious and organic, but the size of the slices. This time the slices were extra small and if this is how it's going to be I will stop purchasing. I could not find a sell by date on the packaging and at $5.99 was a complete waste of a senior citizen's money. Dave's Killer Bread was giving away free loaves of bread at the Portland Farmer's Market in celebration of being in business for 12 years, so I got the sprouted whole grains one. This particular kind had a thick texture that tasted great with the jams they had on hand. It was nice of them to also offer free swag such as trucker hats and sandwich bags as well. read more

This my 2nd review. Normally, I buy at Costco & am very happy. However, I am currently staying in northern California. (Rescue) In the last 3 weeks, I have purchased 2 loaafs & been very disapointed. Both times the bread was almost stale. I purchased them at Raley's Bel Air #5153510 in Cameron Park. Perhaps the distance from Mukwaukie is too great for freshness, but as long as I'm here, I will only buy bread from local bakeries. (21 grains & seeds) read more

Dave's Killer Bread...the title of the company is about as interesting as the owner's life if you ask me...but I will stick to our purchase. We bought several loaves of bread at the store location here. Currently we are chowing down on the three bread loaves we got here. The Multigrain bread is excellent, soft and it just feels like you are getting a good bread experience eating them. They don't make bread that is too seasoned like onion and basil flavored bread and what have you and the same goes for sweet bread too however they do have these selections available but it's a different brand. They have pretty good specials and discounts on select breads and if you use the Yelp app you have a coupon for a free loaf of bread if you spend a certain amount. The cashier was a little leery of it and asked someone else but they approved the Yelp coupon so we got our free bread loaf! read more

I visited the Healthy Bread Store [aka Dave's Killer Breadquarters] today and was pleasantly surprised to find all varieties of Dave's Killer Bread in the freezer marked down under $3 each! I snagged a Sin Dawg for $4, and a Peace Bomb under $2. There is also the "imperfect" bread for sale at a reduced price, (which seems silly because it all looked normal). In addition, there is plenty of fresh bread, cookies, and shirts to choose from. If you have the opportunity, definitely visit the Healthy Bread Store and stock up; I understand they give you a special price on loaves purchased by the dozen. read more

"Mama, just killed a man..." for Dave's killer bread. OK maybe I shouldn't have just confessed that to the Yelp world. But I'm sure once you taste it, you won't turn me in. I saw this stand at the Farmer's Market each week, but I never got to sneak my arm in for a sample because it was also so packed! People would just swarm to this carboholic heaven. Every flavor is great, but their best seller is the good seed. I could seriously eat half a loaf in one sitting without realizing it. It's natural, complex, chewy, and chockful of nutrition. It's $5/loaf, but well worth it. I also got a sin dawg once. This thing is crazy. It's like a hearty wheat bread cinnamon roll that was never cut up & super intense. The goo has cinnamon, sugar granules for a crunchy texture, and finger-licking stickiness. The entire thing is coated with pumpkin, sesame, and sunflower seeds. This thing packs serious weight.
