So I wanted to find a barber near me so I looked through the reviews and decide on trying this place. I guess the name helped out. I went to the location and it is in old town Elk Grove right next to the railroad tracks. They do have street parking and a cross the street is a parking lot. I got a spot there. When I drove by I only saw one guy inside getting his hair done so I hoped they could fit me in since i didn't have an appointment. I walked in and sat down. Only still seeing the one customer getting his hair cut. I asked if he could fit me in? He looked at his watch and said he could fit me in right after this guy. I was happy he fit me in. A few minutes went by and another guy walked into the shop. The barber asked if he had an appointment and the man said he didn't . The barber said that he couldn't fit him in today because he didn't have enough staff and he was booked up for that day. He could come in tomorrow and get a hair cut. The guy said ok and left. After he had left I thanked the barber for fitting me in since I had no appointment. The barber was named Justin. I told him that my wife wanted my hair to look like Thor's haircut and I showed him a picture. He said that the hair in the picture was different than mine but he could get close to it. I told him great. Justin did a great job on my hair and I was very happy with the new look. He charged me $30 bucks which was a straight cut and no wash. I got a card from him so that I could get an appointment next time. Great place. read more

I can't even begin to tell you how many barbers we've been to before, just trying to see who worked well with my son. He wasn't always satisfied with his haircut, so much so that once, he cut his own hair because "a piece was bothering him". Well, since coming to Michael, we've been going back. Dave squeezed in my little bro at 2:30. Squeezed us in, I was very happy. We came in as he was finishing up another client. After he was done, he sweeper up the hair from the previous client, and that's it. No sanitizing of the clippers, the different attachments for the clippers, down to the very same comb he used on the other man and his beard. Listen, we're in a pandemic. I was expecting him to sanitize. To clean up. Even a little. But no. And that's disgusting. That's how people get Covid. That's how people get ringworms. That's how people get infections. That's disgusting. Haircut was what I did on my brother myself. Just a fade up. Edged. The fade was alright but the edge was choppy and asymmetrical. Kinda annoyed at that. At checkout, he charged me $50. OBVIOUSLY I wasn't about to pay that. But the machine has real nice detection of Apple Pay I guess so it took the 50 out of my account from my phone. The cut was supposed to be $25. So he gave me 25 in cash as change. Not too shabby but please please please don't come here if you like sanitized equipment. Because yikes. read more

This Barber Shop is trash. It is so tight in there that you're brushing elbows with like 3 other bros no matter where you stand, it's always packed for some reason, and it's hot and sweaty. I thought I'd still go through with the haircut since there's some reason it's always so crowded right? Nope. After a 45 minute wait, I was sat into a chair and listened to the barbers complain to each other about life. I tried to spark up a conversation about football based on the memorabilia on the wall, but was hit with a "is that right" and dead silence from my barber for the remainder of the haircut. I don't know if maybe it's because I'm not a regular or something, but I did not feel welcome in this establishment. I have no idea why it always has so many people lined up out front. This place is a hidden treasure for an original haircut place for men. I brought my son to get a fresh cut. We arrived at 10:00am and were immediately greated and welcomed. They have a total of 5 stations and let me tell you while waiting for our turn i witnessed that every barber cleans their station and equipment after every client including changing blades. To me that is very important. They ask you how you want your hair And start a conversation about anything which leads to a full converdstion between all customers and barbers. They take their time to do a haircut, not in a rush to take the next client, they trim breards and also they do a line-up with a blade not a machine. A tale of two haircuts.... I was there last year, had a great experience, left the area for about a year, came back, went back, had a bad experience with the service, barber and cut. First time, all good with customer service and the barber took a long time, was careful and precise, had all the attention to detail you could want. I actually thought it was taking a strangely long time for a basic haircut, but it looked great and it grew in well and slowly. It was time and money well spent. So I was out of the country for a while, came back, had such a good experience the first time, I went back. And the second experience was as bad as the first one was good. Last month, they had some kid employed there as something of an assistant, though he was more into playing with his phone than helping customers. I waited for 20 minutes, saw him with a sign-up list (which I hadn't known about), asked about it and he informed me that he worked there and I needed to sign up. So I waited for close to an hour. Then I got a very quick, mediocre haircut from a guy who had about zero regard for doing good work, took about 2 seconds to shave my neck, etc. I wasted my time and money, got something worse than the same generic, mediocre-quality cut you get at cheap, chain places. When I got home, took a close look under good light, I could see that this was among the worst, sloppiest haircuts I've had. Maybe it wasn't a coincidence that this big, loud guy who did it came across as more into being sarcastic and running his mouth than doing decent work. In the course of more than 50 years of haircuts, I've had enough of 'em to when someone's focused on getting it done fast, doesn't really care about getting it done well, which is how it went the second time I was there Get right on over there, though, if you're looking for a place where people are too lazy and special to care about providing good customer service and taking a professional approach. Although it was my first time in the shop, I felt like they had been cutting my hair on the regular. The barber shop has plenty of parking in the back lot, and I didn't wait long for a chair. Went to Dave's this past weekend and loved it. Sean cut my hair and did an amazing job. Every person is different and expects different things from a barber, but Sean's style just fit me. I usually don't like to chat up a storm while getting my hair cut. I like to just sit there and relax and watch some tv. I like a friendly relationship with my barber, but I don't need to have a full conversation the entire time I am sitting there. I think other people might like that conversation aspect, and there are other barbers there who seemed more chatty. Even though we didn't talk much, Sean was still very nice and professional and very good at cutting hair. I like the old school vibe of this place and the prices are comparable to other places in town. I do not like however that there is no appointment scheduling; it is first come first serve. I don't like having to wait 3 hours for a hair cut and Dave's is usually very busy. Hence why scheduling an appointment would avoid this. I also like scheduling an appointment so I know the barber has time for additional services such as a shave. I once called Dave's and whoever answered the phone said whether or not they could give me a shave depended on how busy they were.....that drives me crazy. If that's the case, don't offer shaving as a service. But now that that rant is over, I had a good experience. I will return and ask for Sean. They also have some pretty awesome beard products which is great because the only stuff you can find these days is online and I'd rather support a local company than order online. So if you come on a weekend, be prepared to wait. Other than the waiting, I would highly recommend the place. This is also not your typical great clips so don't expect a cheap hair cut. Visiting back from Hawaii and needed a haircut. I called and they said they do walk-ins. I liked my haircut and my barber knew a lot about hair and it intimidated me a bit too much. It was a busy Thursday at noon so I'm not sure if they were rushing but I just would've liked them to be a more...approachable. I came in here based on the yelp reviews . We waited a good 45 mins . My son got seated at the 2nd to the last chair . It started out good then the barber messed up his combover line . I voiced my concerns and the barber started to blame my son for moving too much. He started to get frustrated and have an attitude . Then the owner got involved and proceeded tell me to wait with an attitude . I won't come back . Not kid friendly at all. Dont take your kids here . Hot Dog! Dave's Barber Shop is the Bees Knees! I just can't get over how swell this cozy little shop is! Excuse my 'old timey speak', but a trip to Dave's is like stepping back in time! ( with the exception of a few high tech items .. A laptop and a Plasma TV) The shop is Adorable, Clean and very comfortable for waiting clients. A table with checkers, A huge rack of magazines and a TV are just a few of the 'comforts' Dave's place has. I just was passing through on my way to Los Angeles and I called ahead and got an appointment based on his favorable reviews on Yelp!. I went about 15 minutes out of my way to get his haircut and I'm so glad I did. This was such a memorable experience to come to this barbershop.
