That part was on me. The barber there couldn't take me--understandable--but he did offer to call the other shop to let them know I was headed over. When I got to the second location, things went downhill fast. Even though a big "Now Open" sign was displayed, the lights were off, the door was locked, and the place looked completely deserted. No barber in sight. No sign of life. Nothing. A few minutes later, I got a call from Weez informing me he wasn't working that day after all. He said he'd try to get me another appointment and promised to call me back in three minutes. That call never came. No update. No apology. No follow-through. By this point, I had wasted my time, wasted my morning, and was now late for a meeting across town because of their complete inability to manage basic scheduling or communication. We've been to this place a few times and have gotten haircuts from Jae. Yes, he's great at what he does--his haircuts are solid. But his professionalism? Nonexistent. He has been late to so many of our scheduled appointments, rarely responds to texts, and frequently cancels with last-minute excuses. We gave him multiple chances because our 15-year-old son really liked him, but today was the final straw. My husband scheduled a haircut for our other son about a week ago through the app (we stopped texting Jae directly, even though he prefers it to avoid any fees from the platform - because he never replies) After a long day at work, we made the 20-minute drive for the appointment--only for him *not to show up at all.* No text, no heads-up--just a complete no show. After a few texts wondering where he's at, he cancels the appointment through the app! We've always been polite to him, and he never had an issue accepting our tips after a service, but that's beside the point. I'm just stunned that he thinks it's acceptable to constantly show up late, cancel on us, and then completely ghost an appointment. We gave it a solid 10 months, but he's just not worth the hassle. I hesitated to write this review cause I've heard nothing but good things about the Fade Room; two of my boys have been getting cuts from Trent for years and have never had a bad experience. Everyone's chill, too, and it seems like an independent shop; each barber runs his own gig and the store takes a piece. But my Lord, I was not prepared for what I would receive. I came in asking for a low-taper fade, short on the top but not buzz cut short, and don't push the hairline back too much. I left $45 lighter, with an indescribable cut. I do not understand how it is possible to mess up a cut this bad. I've paid $7 for a cut better than this. I've cut my own hair, and it has looked better than this. I've had chunks of hair cut out of random spots on my head for genetic testing and it looked better than this. I thought, man, maybe it's just me, but then my mom said it looked rough. Then my girl said it looked rough. Do you know how bad a cut has to be for your mom and your girl to say it looks bad? I thought, man, I'll reach out to the barber, and see if I can get it fixed. He sent back $15 and said "yeah I'll gladly fix you up". Bmac said he wasn't tryin to do a whole new haricut when I got there, rather he'd "fix up the parts I don't like". He buzzed the top to a #6 and I left in a beanie, hiding my onion looking head from onlookers. The worst part about this whole ordeal is I knew darn well the first time I stood up out that chair that this was beyond messed up. I knew darn well my hair looked unbelievable. This place opened up near our house and I've been wanting to take my son and husband to check them out but the reviews made me caution coming here. Recently a friend tagged them on IG and I was impressed. So my son and I took a look at some of the posts from their barbers and he really liked the line ups of Huicho. So I set an appointment for him that same day. Huicho was super nice and chill. My son really liked him and told me that's his new barber. He did exactly what my son liked. His old barber was good but the lineups were never consistent and often times sideways. Thankfully not pushed back but I would have to fix it. However, Huicho lined him up straight and the rest of the cut was perfect. My son came out with more confidence and came back telling me he needed to go tip him more because the cut was so good. So if you're looking for a barber in EG check out @huicho_blendz for sure. I sent my friend and her son and they had someone named JJ and his work was also very good, I believe they said JJ will now be their sons main barber. I'm sure any barber here you go to will take care of you. But I can only speak on the ones I first hand saw the results. So huge shout out to Huicho and JJ. Took my 2 boys (6 & 8 yrs old) to the Fade Room. They both had a great experience. Place was clean and everyone was friendly. My boys both were seen my Gerald who was super good and patient with them. Explained what some some clippers did and what things were used for. Staff are very very unprofessional. When I was getting my haircut the guy kept stopping in the middle of cutting so he could take a sip of his beer and look at his phone. It wasn't just him there were 3 other barbers doing the same thing. The way they talk around clients is unbelievable. They cuss a lot even in front of little kids and I even heard some racist remarks and I couldn't believe the things I was hearing. The haircut was okay and my guy could've done it faster if he wasn't stopping so much but they need to change their behavior around their clients because it's completely unacceptable. Will not come back here because I do not feel comfortable. I called in the morning for an appointment and was able to schedule same day at 4p for 2 kids. The barber confirmed their names and was sure to ask if I will really go in. I confirmed that I really need to get my sons haircuts done today so I'll be there for sure. He said make sure to ask for Nu. I got there before 4p and was told that Nu will help me next as he was still helping another person. Nu told me he would be another 15 min. I was fine with that as I was able to get a same day appt. I sat down with both my sons and waited patiently. After Nu finished he asked if I had a picture of how I would like their cut and I was about to show him the picture when he told me he could only do one kid. He said he had another appt and won't be able to cut both kids hair. I asked if another barber can help but they shook their heads too. This was very frustrating since I had been waiting with no updates the whole time. I hope this review helps these young men realize the importance of valuing their customers time and setting clear expectations ahead of time.
