Amazing little diner , the food and the service was great , thinking about coming back next year on our camping trip!!!!

Stopped in on a Friday for lunch, a few weeks ago. I looked at the menu and saw the high prices. I wondered if the quality will justify the high prices. I was un-sure of what to order. I finally decided on the chicken salad with mixed greens and other salad fixings. I was expecting a medium scoop of an "outside" source chicken salad and what I got was more than a giant scoop of what tasted like made on site. The chicken was in nice sized pieces and the entire components of this salad all went together to make it wonderful and very fresh. I saw other eater's with big burgers, bowls of soup, and desserts. Everything looked great. I will be back here soon and even though the menu is priced higher than other diners, the quality makes up for this. read more

You know you eat somewhere too often when the staff asks how your family is doing every time you come in. This is how a diner is supposed to be done: simple comfort food, quick and cheap. The place is always packed with a line out the door on the weekends but during the week you can get right in. They no longer take credit cards but there is an ATM if you forgot to bring your paper. Weekday breakfast specials are so cheap you'll feel guilty when you get the bill and it's almost always exactly what you wanted. I'll admit, the homefries are kinda 'meh' but that seems to be everywhere around here these days. The trick is to ask for them deep-fried! The omelettes are always good and usually more than I can finish, which means I get a midnight snack out of the deal too. Their lunches are also quite good and the portions are enormous. I've tried most of the options but always come back to the chicken finger sandwich. My only real complaints here are the 'bagged salad' lettuce which tends to fall out while you're eating and the frozen hockey puck hamburgers. Weird thing is, I've been eating here since they opened (remember when they were open late and kept the register out front?) but still have never met Dave. Guess he's too busy cooking my food! read more

Keep in mind this is about an hour outside of Philly and last night was the Super Bowl. I saw the reviews for this diner and decided to give it a try. I pulled up and there were only three cars and it's twelve-thirty. Umm... we went in. I have to say, if you like bacon you'll love Dave's! My partner loves BLTs so that's what she ordered with a side of baked beans. Dave's uses NINE rashers (slices) of bacon on their BLTs! Now I ordered a Cheeseburger Club and guess what? Yep! NINE rashers of bacon! It's worth opening the sandwich and eating a couple by themselves. Let's talk about their homemade baked beans; not exactly what you'd think when they are brought to the table. Navy, cannelloni, pinto, waxed... I'm no chef but these aren't your grandma's baked beans. I had to prod her to try the side of beans and she was glad I did. I tried them as well and they are surprisingly good. Vicky was our hostess/waitress and friend to all. She was very pleasant and efficient and, as I said friendly. The whole place is spotless! The silverware had not a spot on them and the restrooms were beyond clean. We enjoyed the food and our experience. read more

I loved this place because i felt like i walked into a Time Warp ..a place where neighbors know each other and it's not weird to say good morning. And waitresses are warm and welcoming...it is a sweet old-fashioned tin diner with old school feel where values still remain and Instagram doesn't exist...i loved the simple mom type cooked delicious food great service and low old time prices...if you want both good good and nostalgia. When we first walked into the place it seemed crowded with a lot of locals on a Sunday morning and were asked to put our name on a waiting list at the counter. Based off the amount of people that where in the diner I figured I was going to be in for a treat. When we were seated at our table which didn't take to long the table was still wet from when the waitress wiped it.. As I glanced over the menu I was pleased to see that Sausage Gravy was available but no biscuits. Weird but ok I will deal. Our food arrived shortly after another tables that had placed their order well after ours it was anything but cooked properly. I have said for a few years that I would try this diner out. They close at 2 PM so I would miss the chance, usually I would be going to or leaving the Mad Hatter across the street. I had looked at the four star rating and said I would try it. The gentleman at the Mad Hatter said it's a great place to eat as they go their everyday. When I first entered there is an area to sign in and sit and you will be seated. Well this is only when the diner is full. I signed in. The waitress laughed at me and I thought it was funny myself. I had the grill cheese hamburger and my wife a cheeseburger. We left full since there were enough French fries served and each hamburger was just the right portion. The food was cooked perfectly. The two stars I would not pay attention to. The food was excellent and my wife said she was glad that I suggested the diner. When we travel we always carry some money so the cash only is no problem. The service was great and they made you feel welcomed. The diner was clean. I think you will enjoy the food and atmosphere. The cost for the food and drinks for two were under $18.00. Worst place to eat in Pennsylvania hands Down! Place is dirty and staff is extremely rude! You would be better off starting

I wanted this place to be good, and the food was decent diner food. Service was friendly but slow. I'm sorry, but on a Sunday at 10am you can't say you were surprised by a "rush". It didn't help that one of the servers was more concerned about her parents who were in one of the booths, stopping by and chatting... even sitting in the booth with them. I'm not exaggerating... had to wait for the menu (5 minutes)after being seated and then a box at the end of the meal... literally had to ask twice, once AFTER we paid. Lastly, cash only??? You were doomed to a 3 star rating at best as soon as I saw that. Accepting credit cards is a convenience to the customer... it's an expense of being in business. You have an ATM, sure, but the charge is $1.95. So, let me understand, not only are you making it inconvenient for folks who don't carry cash, but we're also paying for you to have the ATM terminal. It was exacly what you'd expect from a diner in this part of the country ... timeless old fashioned food. I had coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Not bad, not particularly memorable. I tried to come and eat here with my small family twice. I was ignored both times. The first time my son got sick while waiting and threw up in the lobby and when I tried to get a waitress or someone to let them know it took forever to get someone to listen to me and then I was rudely glared at until they realize that I was being nice enough to let them know that my son had thrown up in their lobby and I had nothing to clean it up with. The second time it was the same situation. There was a pad that you are supposed to sign in at but apparently some people don't have to if they know the place. So we waited as long as we could and were never once acknowledged except by another customer whom let themselves in. We did attempt to walk in and seat our selves but did not see any open tables that were cleaned or staff that wanted a paying customer. read more

Went there for lunch and the food was very good. I had an egg and olive salad sandwich, which was piled high and very fresh. The side salad that came with it was huge and very crisp. So I tried breakfast a few weeks later and was completely disappointed. Homefries were undercooked and tasteless. I had to salt and pepper them to death to eat them. My friend ordered an omelette, which he had to drown in ketchup to eat, it was so dry. Now I don't know what to think of the place, so I guess I'll have to give it one more try. Both times the service was very friendly and pleasant, although a little slow, but it was very busty. read more

My husband and I have come here for breakfast twice before today and the service and food was great. Today was a totally different story. While they did not have a wait time they were busy. We went in and got a table right away. Another table came right after us. Our waitress totally ignored us and waited on the table that came in after us, walked around talking to other tables, then finally came back to us. Keep in mind all of her tables except ours had all Caucasian's. My husband and I are an interracial couple. Once she took our order we waited about 20 minutes for our food which isn't too bad but our waitress didn't even bring out our food! A table that came in after my husband and I got their food at the am time as ours was finished and you guessed it, they were Caucasian women she took the food to instead of our table. She didn't even check on us until we were almost finished and then she asked if everything was ok. I had to ask for hot sauce for my husband even though he was almost finished because she never brought it even though he asked for it when we ordered our food. I am highly disappointed and I don't know if we will ever be back. No waitress should ever blatantly disrespect a customer especially because of race. To the owner, shame on you for employing a person that would act like this in your establishment! read more

Stopped here on the road because of the good reviews. Very small menu for a diner. I have no idea how anyone could rate the burger or roasted chicken sandwich as good. Burger was tiny and overcooked, roasted chicken boring and reheated mixture of dark and light meat, with canned mushrooms and processed cheese. The best thing was the vanilla shake. I have to leave this review so that others will be aware and not make a special trip. Our server was very good, though. read more

This is a very plain, no-frills little diner where we got fast service, delicious food close to where we wanted to be, which is the antique shops along Rt 272. We could not believe the lack of food establishments along such a busy road in a part of the state that calls itself the Antique Capital. I don't think there was more than 3 and one was a big pub (bar) which we passed up. We just had burgers and sides but very, very tasty. The burger was so good I wanted to get another: super fresh GRILLED (nice touch!) potato roll with a nice size beef patty. I had the bacon cheeseburger and the bacon was very crispy like it should be. The only thing I would have changed was to have a bit of lettuce, tomato and onion on the plate to put on the burger. Came in on a Sunday at 11:45. They stop serving breakfast at 11:45. What kind of diner doesn't serve a later breakfast on a Sunday, especially when they close at 3? Anyway, we begrudgingly ordered some lunch. I had the blandest, dryest roasted chicken sandwich ever. My husband had a chicken club. He asked for no mayo. It was covered in mayo. That sort of thing happens, yeah, but on top of the other issues, it adds up, and it's annoying. We should have been like the folks who sat beside us, who ordered drinks but left after they learned breakfast was no longer served. What a dumb place. read more

We stopped here on Saturday 9/29/12 around 11:30AM. Only had to wait about 15 minutes. Service was quick and friendly. Tomato soup was fresh and tasted homemade, grilled cheese and tomato sandwich was excellent. Chicken fingers were fried a little longer than I like, but still good. Has a nice small town family diner feel about it. Next time we are back in town we will stop in. read more
