I've always seen Dave's Chicken online and finally tried them out. I had their tenders and chocolate cookies in cream shake. I love their shake it has more of a frosty consistency and the cookies add texture which I love in a shake or ice cream in general. Chicken is fresh, service is great, and the wait is not long. Both times I've visited this location, I was serviced pretty quickly despite the line size. Staff is friendly and attentive and the most important for me is that the facility is clean! I was on my way to Just Salad and made a right instead of a left. We were excited to give this a try. My son ordered the sliders while I ordered the tenders of course so we can share and see what this is all about. My favorite hands down are the sliders. The sauce with the chicken and the coleslaw just goes together perfectly. The service was alright not special about it. You order the food at the counter and your pager goes off to pick it up. Like everyone else, I've been seeing Posts, and NEWS Stories about Dave's Hot Chicken for the past couple of years or so. Let's get to the Heat Leves; Lite Mild Mild Medium Hot Extra Hot Reaper (rumor has it that you need to sign a waiver before consuming). I ordered a two piece combo Extra Hot (because I can handle the HEAT) and an extra tender with the Kale Slaw, My buzzer goes off and I grab my order. Much to my surprise the tenders were much larger than I anticipated; I see why they're only two pieces per order. My first bite was good, spicy and tons of flavor! It got better as I chewed. Wait a minute! This is HOT! I mean DAMN HOT! WOW! Not expecting this level of HEAT! By the time I get to my third tender, my eyes are watering, and I'm sweating like I just finished a discussion with my father about my latest report card. I have been looking forward to trying this place but I gotta say it was a bit of a let down. First the positives... the customer service was great! The place was clean and the order came out fast. Now to the not so great. The chicken tenders were so messy. The spice rub got all over my hands. Between the mild I got and the medium my daughter got, the tenders looked the same. I'm not opposed to messy foods but it looks like the spice mix mess from Doritos or takis, which is fine for chips but I don't want that on my chicken!! I've heard about Dave's Hot Chicken through word of mouth and decided to order a meal during my lunch break from work. I ordered the Dave's #1 meal which was their 2 tender and fries meal. The sauce wasn't too bad though I felt like I ate a mix of ketchup and mayo altogether and a bit more sodium than I usually ingest. This is probably one of the best seasoned chicken I've ever ate in my life. I chose medium in case the spice was too spicy for me, but actually, the medium spice wasn't as spicy as I thought haha. Like I'd say the medium spice is definitely for beginners who like a little kick to it. Next time I come here, I'll definitely order hot because I love me some spicy food! I ordered the 2 sliders with fries with no sauce. Sauce was added to it anyways, no problem happens all the time, I tell the young lady and she gets it corrected. As I am enjoying the meal I eat one of the French fries the moment I bite into it to tastes like someone added fecal matter to it or something similar, I instantly spit out the French fry and run to the bathroom to throw up everything I ate. The taste in my mouth was that of fecal matter. Absolutely gut wrenching and disgusting. I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, If someone acted out of malice and tampered with my food, after the restroom I went to bring this to their attention and got a refund on my meal. My girlfriend enjoyed her fries form her order, however mine could have seriously hurt someone , pure biohazard. I told the employees In a very calm fashion.. one of them even said it happens sometimes. Never again will I put myself in harms way by eating here ever. Edit- to add to this, there are only a few factors that can possibly contribute to this sort of taste. The fry could have been tampered or the fry could have been rancid or incredibly contaminated. It came highly recommended by a buddy at the gym, who told us to go for the "hot" chicken, as the "medium" didn't have much flavor. There are a few points I'd like to mention. First, the menu is quite limited in terms of options. We ordered the slider and chicken tenders, both in the "hot" level, as we were advised to skip the medium. The "hot" chicken is extremely spicy. While the chicken itself was good and the fries were tasty, the heat level was almost unbearable--especially considering they offer two even hotter levels, which seemed excessive to us. On our second visit, we went with the "medium," and as our friend warned, it lacked flavor and wasn't spicy at all. If they could create a level of heat between medium and hot, I think they'd really find the sweet spot. Overall, the experience was fine. It's a fun place to try once or twice, but it's not something you'd likely crave on a regular basis. Whatever you do, do NOT go to this location! I found a bug in my food right when I started eating a piece of chicken. I ended up vomiting and throwing away all of the food that my family had bought.
