If you want to travel to Portugal without booking a plane ticket, this is the spot for you. The restaurants is small so I do suggest making reservations beforehand. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. They have a tree in the middle that gives it an outdoor open feel. And an incredible wine display in the back. Our waitress, from Portugal, did a great job of explaining the menu to us and guiding us on what to order. We started off with the Bolinhos de Bacalhau which are cod fritters and OMG they were sooo good! These tasted identical to the ones we've eaten in Lisbon. It comes with the classic pairing of black eyed peas which are awesome when eaten together. We also tried the Chouriço Assado which the presentation when its brought to the table is a treat itself. It comes out on a flaming pig and then its sliced tableside. Our waitress recommended trying the chorizo with the piri piri sauce which is slightly spicy and it was delicious. It added another layer of flavor. For entree we got the Paelha Marinheira which was absolutely amazing. First off, its a huge portion and comes piping hot. Each bite was full of seafood. We added the lobster which was perfection. It's great to share between 2 people. For dessert we ended with the pasteis de nata and its great because it brings 2 pastries and we paired it with ice cream. It makes for the perfect sweet treat without being too much. A unique find in Miami - authentic Portuguese food. Old Lisbon is a quaint little restaurant with some classic favorites like paella and seafood stew. I had the seafood stew, which was hearty and full of mussels, fish, clams, white beans, and other seafood. Side rice was just ok. My mom enjoyed her salmon and vegetables, which included eggplant. For dessert, I had to get the famous dessert of Portugal, pastel de nata, which is a mini egg custard tart. It tasted wonderful, but was different from the traditional pastel de nata because it had cinnamon and powdered sugar on top, and personally I like the traditional plain version better. My port (sweet wine) was a delicious accompaniment. Service was very attentive. Interior is small and cozy. Plenty of parking. read more

A taste of Portugal brought to Miami. We've been to Lisbon many times but this place felt like we were back. The decor inside is flawless and the service from our waitress was superb. Very friendly and helpful. We ordered a wine which was recommended and it was so good which later paired perfectly with the paella. We started with the sausage which was flavorful and came with the show which included the flames. The fish croquettes were to die for. Highly recommend for your starter. My new favorite restaurant. They have high quality food. The paellas is number one! My favorite appetizer are the shrimp in garlic sauce, get a lot of bread to soak up the sauce, so good. The shrimps in the cream sauce is so good you will have to come back for more. The drinks are quality and finally the servers are so nice, I've never had such good service. This was an amazing culinary experience! I had the special Porco Iberico over asparagus and potatoes and it was delicious and fresh. I had the Pasteis de Nata for dessert and it as good as I remember it from Greece when we were there last year. Being of portuguese descent i have to be extremely critical of the cuisine. First impression is the ambience would recieve 5 stars. The restaurant is very quaint and the real olive tree trunk in the center of the restaurant gives it a special touch. We ordrred the flaming portuguese sausage which had a great presentation arriving in full flame on a terra cotta pig dish. This was indeed very authentic . The problem with the rest of the dishes is tgey were served luke warm and for me that gave them a minus of one star. Overall food was good and service pleasant. Hidden gem! First time dining at Old Lisbon and we had a magnificent night. The service we had from the moment you get greeted was A++! Fatima was our server and she truly treated us like family. From the wine suggestions to the food was on point. An elegant and intimate setting while still being warm and relaxed. The entire staff was a delight. We had several different offerings. Mom had the Corvina slightly fried with mash potatoes and cappers with grilled tomatoes, I had the Chilean Sea Bass with sweet potatoes, asparagus and a side of capers in sauce, brother had a peppercorn steak with fries. We had one of our best restaurant experiences ever at Old Lisbon in Aventura! No expectations really, as we were not familiar with Portuguese cuisine. The wonderful lady who took our call arranged to reserve two seats at the bar since they were full for reservations. They make you feel like family from the start. Our bartender Sam made the whole night an experience and gave spot-on recommendations. He suggested an excellent Portuguese red wine. We started with the grilled octopus appetizer (out of this world!) and moved on to the fish special and paella. Sam educated us on the various types of port and we tried regular port and white port. For dessert Pasteis de Nata (custard tarts) were the perfect finish. I like the reviewer who said there's something different about this place. The place was packed and it immediately showed good customer service for them to have the table ready. The service was timely and it was good. The food was delicious, most of the persons in our table had the bacalao prepared in different ways and it was perfectly done, everyone liked it. I also had the flaming Portuguese sausage for appetizer and it was a pleasant surprise how good it tasted. I shared it with the group and everyone tasted it and said it was delicious. Then for dessert we had Pastel de Nata, a delicious Portuguese pastry. My wife and I went to Lisbon, Portugal this summer so we were interested in going to the Old Lisbon Restaurant for dinner and it was amazing. She had the paella entree and thought it was delicious and had a good amount and assortment of seafood. My bacalhau a Lagareiro was a large portion and had good flavor. Lovely decor and ambience, but I was honestly a bit disappointed. It was packed, it seemed they didn't have enough servers, and we had to wait a long time for the menu and to get service. I ordered the white sangria which was OK but not great, and the Bacalao Lagareiro, which unfortunately came with a lot of bones so I had to be very careful to eat through it. The rest of my group had a better experience with the food. I think I will order the fish soup and maybe another appetizer if I go again. read more

We did family style and i am so glad we did because we tried a little bit of everything, and everything was delicious! For apps, we had the shrimp in garlic sauce and clams. I don't normally like clams, but these were fantastic. For entree we had the peppercorn steak with cognac sauce i believe, octopus, lamb shank and a seafood mix. Why was my reservation not honored? I made reservations for 4 people a month ago for Valentine's Day. I was bringing out of town friends. When I got there the hostess said that she did not have a table for us. She said "can't you see we are very crowded". Appetizers were good. Main courses disappointed a lot and waiter did not even offer any resolution. Branzino was plain and tasteless, potatoes so dry, it's horrible. Filet Mignon they brought first time was overcooked and oversalted, sent it back, after 15 minutes of waiting when everyone in my party finished eating, he brings the filet cooked the right temperature but still too salty it makes your face skew. There is something special about this restaurant. From the moment you walk through the door, the ambiance is unmatched including a spectacular tree in the middle of the restaurant. The service was exceptional and don't get me started on how delicious the sea bass was. I got to have a chat with the owner and it was obvious how much he cared about his employees and providing the ultimate Portuguese experience.
