Not bad! I was excited to try this place after I found out they were finally bringing one to Boston. There are a few options for spice level. The spiciest has a waiver which my friend tried and it was no joke. I don't think I'll be trying that one anytime soon lol. I've had the very hot which was great and the fries are so good! My only complaint about this location is I never get my full order.. I don't even feel comfortable ordering online for delivery anymore. 3/3 with this location that I'm always missing something. I always get the #2 Combo which includes two Hot Chicken Sliders with Fries. Each chicken sandwich is topped with pickles and cole slaw and each combo contains a small container of Dave's sauce and additional pickles. No joke this is the best fried chicken that I've ever had in my life! The chicken was seasoned to perfection. It was spicy, but very delicious at the same time and had the perfect crispy and moist texture. Their menu is small and is basically just tenders, chicken sandwiches, milkshakes, and some sides, but they are good at what they do! Once in a while, I would get cravings for Dave's Hot Chicken and I'm so happy they opened a location in South Boston! Dave's really only has one thing on their menu, chicken tenders, and they do it very well. We visited this branch on a Saturday night and although there wasn't a lot of customers dining in, they had a lot of mobile orders. We got their chicken tenders in the medium and lite mild spice levels with fries. The chicken was delicious, tender, and well flavored. Their spice levels are on the more tolerable side so I would recommend getting a higher spice level if you like the kick but the seasoning is always amazing regardless of spice. The fries are good as well, especially dipped into their special Dave's sauce. This store itself is on the smaller end with some seating. During warmer weather, they also have a number of outdoor seats available. However, your best bet is probably ordering delivery or takeout during their rush hours, which is a bit unfortunate as fried chicken doesn't travel very well. Additionally, the store gets a bit chaotic due to the lack of space when there are a number of people waiting for their orders. I hope that they are able to find a way to rearrange the pick up area for more standing room in the future. Some of the best hot chicken I've had in greater Boston. I passed by the Dave's in newton several times but never pulled the trigger on trying it until they opened up in South Bay. I scoffed at their menu prices ($13 for 2 tenders and Fries? Really?) and was initially skeptical. Dave's only has a couple of menu options as a heads up so there's not a lot to choose from but you can customize your heat level. I got their combo #3 which includes a chicken burger, 1 tender and fries for about $14 and I'm so glad to report that it was worth every penny. Don't let it fool you, it's a good amount of food. I can usually kill multiple pieces of fried chicken but I was full after 1 tender and some fries from Dave's and split it into 2 meals. The chicken is juicy and the burger has a nice slaw that comes with it. I especially loved the heat that Dave's was able to deliver - I got the extra spicy and if you're sadistic like me and love your lips to burn from spicy food you won't be disappointed. read more

Expect the service to be a bit slow since it is popular, it's on par with Chick Fil A and other food places, nothing uncommon nowadays in 2023. I couldn't help but notice the overwhelmed staff for food delivery section. With often delivery people taking precedence and space over the patrons who were waiting for their food. But wait it gets worse...My order was wrong. Not a big deal but to pay so much for chicken and fries and all of the chicken and fries aren't in the bag is a problem. Especially if you buy takeout, and it's towards the end of operating hours. I get home see that I'm missing almost half my order, I call the store number on receipt to explain the mistake. Well can't talk to anyone because it's automated and directs you to their website to comment. So I followed the prompts online to no avail.
