My favorite piece of fried chicken is the wing. Not buffalo wings, just fried chicken wings. I read other Yelp* review of Juicy's, and was dying to try it, so I checked their hours and headed over around 2PM in the afternoon. When I arrived, there were no cars in the parking lot and it looked closed. I went up to the front door to see if there was a note but all that was posted there were their normal hours. Based on that, they were supposed to be open. Not a good start. I posted about this on Facebook, saying it looked like they were closed for good. A friend of ours replied the next day that she had moved down the street from Juicy's and she saw the restaurant open for business that day. I headed over again and they were open. Soul Food, Comfort Food, Home Cooking, whatever you want to call it, that's what they're serving at Juicy's with a large side of FRIENDLINESS. I grew up in south Texas, so a bowl of pinto beans with a piece of cornbread is a meal I love to this day. However, I was craving chicken, so I ordered the chicken plate (you can specify 4 wings) with mashed potatoes w/brown gravy and pinto beans (of course). Have you noticed that most dining out today is underwhelming? It seems to me the restaurants are using cheaper ingredients. Everything tastes bland. BUT NOT AT JUICY'S! The meal hit the spot for me. The wings are "whole wings," meaning there are no "drums" and "flats." Each wing at Juicy's is BOTH PARTS. It's the whole wing! I was full after just three but Bonnie grabbed the last one to "keep it from going to waste." (I think she was keeping it from going to MY waist...) The beans reminded me of my mom's pinto beans. The brown gravy on the potatoes reminded me of my grandmother's gravy at Thanksgiving. The cornbread was almost like cake. Even the music was great, featuring R&B and blues. We found ourselves humming along to the music as we feasted on the food. We're definitely going back. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic. I found it while trying to find some shrimp tacos and somehow they showed up in the algorithm. Thank god it did. I must say my absolute favorite is the fried chicken those wings hit a part of my soul that hasn't been explored since my grandma was making chicken. Not to be out done the pork chops and the turkey wings were absolutely amazing. Don't sleep on the sides as those greens and yams are all seasoned great so I know somebody at least in their late 40's back there with some blessed hands. Super excited to try Juicys new location. She closed her Soul food Rest and moved here with less Main dish offerings. Mainly all fried foods except for Sundays where she refers to this as Soul Food Sundays with all the favorites. Meatloaf, baked chicken etc. We opted to try the 3 piece Fried Chicken, Fired Pork Ribs and Catfish. Sides consisted of Green beans, greens, Mac n cheese, Mashed tasters, and fried corn. I'll start by saying the food is good..really good but it's not as good as the other location. The fried chicken has a different batter. It's crispy and juicy but thicker in texture. I'd argue her chicken was the absolute best at her previous location. It had that "cast iron salty flavor" and was delicious. It's good and fresh but it's typical for fried chicken. 3 stars out of 5. Fried catfish. It's the star of the day. Cooked to perfection. I'd argue a bit more seasoning is needed but it was delicious. When I learned she was moving locations I suggested that she offer Fried Cod. DFW needs a restaurant that knows how to prep and serve a delicious piece of fried cod. 4.5 stars. The Fried Pork Ribs was good and different. Seasoned to perfection and tender. 5 stars. The sides. Greens beans just as good as her previous location. Really enjoyed them. Seasoned and tasty. The colored greens were good, not as seasoned or tasty as the green beans but still good. The mashed taters and gravy and fried corn was a home runs. Mac n cheese was nice and tender. I like that it wasn't mushy or overcooked but would prefer it to be a little more cheesy. Service is impeccable. Everyone is friendly and The new location is airy and bright. read more

After a 12-15 minute wait, my lunch--breast and wing with crinkle-cut fries and a drink for $10.25--arrived piping hot. The chicken was indeed hot but leaned salty and garlicky, with oil that tasted a bit over-used and lingered on the palate. Got the 3 piece fried chicken meal with mac and cheese and collard greens and add on of the Catfish. Fried chicken was good, good flavor, very crispy. Mac and cheese was okay, tastes like krafts cheese or American single cheese. Collard greens was good but super salty, nice smoked smell tho. Corn bread was gooooood. I've never been to the Soul Food restaurant in Fort Worth, but I've heard great things about it. I didn't stray too far from the basics and went with a fried chicken wing basket. What I can say is -- these wings are huge. Big and delicious. They fry them fresh when you order, so they came out hot -- popping hot -- and so good. Seasoned just right. I do wish the fries had a little more seasoning, but that's alright. They also threw in a roll, which was pretty basic, but my daughter tore up the strawberry shortcake -- she ate the whole thing in one sitting. This is probably the best fried chicken I've had in the HEB area. Great flavor, crunchy, and holy sh*t it is indeed JUICY! That being said, the real star of the show is the catfish. It had my boyfriend and I arguing over who got the last bite. Delicious. The sides were nothing to write home about, but I came for the chicken and fish so I'm not complaining. Now even though I'm giving them 5 stars, I will say that it was disappointing that we had to wait an hour for our food. There was one other group of two in front of us, so it wasn't busy by any means. But the ladies were extremely apologetic, they gave us a refund and still gave us our food. Loved this little hole in the wall place. The counter staff was friendly and walked us through the menu, suggesting the cornbread over the roll and it was delicious! We got the three piece with two sides. The chicken was crispy, beautifully seasoned, and juicy. The fries were crispy and hot and the pinto beans were a little spicy and very hot. The fried okra was crispy and fries and the mac and cheese was hot and cheesy. I will highly recommend this place to everyone and we will be back! read more

I know their name has fried chicken in it, and their fried chicken is absolutely delicious but the best thing I've had here is the catfish. I went back again today for the fourth or fifth time and had the snack pack, which includes one piece of catfish or fried chicken or a pork chop along with fries. It is a steal at only six dollars. I also got a side of their pinto beans. The snack pack plus the beans was less than $10 and I couldn't even eat it all. The catfish fillets are large and the catfish is real catfish, not that Chinese swai fish that a lot of restaurants pass off as catfish. You can tell because it is very mild, delicate, and flaky and not wet and mushy like swai. The cornmeal breading is perfect and they cook it when you order so it's always hot and fresh. This was the first time I had their pinto beans and they were delicious. Well-seasoned and cooked all the way through. I can't tell you how often I have pinto beans at a restaurant that are still slightly firm or even hard in the middle. They're supposed to be really really soft and the juice is supposed to be brown, not clear. If the liquid part of your pinto beans is still clear, you haven't cooked them enough.. The fries are crinkle cut which are my favorite and they're fine. I need to try some of the other side items on my next visit. The employees are really friendly and helpful and seem to enjoy working there. Tried Juicy's for the first time today. Excellent!! Hubby had the catfish basket and I had the wing basket. Both came with fries that are seasoned with something better than season salt. The catfish filets and the whole chicken wings were cooked to perfection. I tried both of their sauces, buffalo and sweet chili. Both were very good. The little cup of pickles and peppers was a nice change from salad or coleslaw. And their sweet tea was just right. Not too sweet. Lameshia took our order and brought to our table in the time of 15 minutes she said it would take to prepare. I like that everything is cooked to order and not sitting under a heat lamp. The dine-in area was clean and not jammed up with too many tables. The music was playing at a volume that you could still carry on a conversation and not have to raise your voice. This is not a fast food restaurant. It takes time but so worth it. The food is authentic home style cooking and very hardy portions. The side vegetables are stars themselves and the meat you choose follows suit. Served as a to-go order but I needed it. The portions are plentiful and enough for a later snack/meal. The only downfall to some may be the drinks. They are side cans or bottled water but we brought ours in and really didn't care. Definitely worth the time. Rarely do I post Yelp reviews, but this place deserves it. I ordered the wing combo (full wings+2 sides) and I got hot flavored wings, Mac n cheese, and fries. The service was fast and very kind. They were extra busy though! Everything was obviously extremely fresh and seasoned extremely well, even the fries! They provided a pickled jalapeño as well as banana peppers and regular pickles. These were great and extremely needed to cut through the savoriness of the rest of the meal. For the chicken they put the sauce on the side to keep it extremely crispy. It was hot and moist and when the hot sauce was added it elevated the chicken to another level. Bummed I didn't splurge and get a dessert. Noticed on Sundays it was soul-food Sundays! The past couple of times I came I've been told after I paid they are out of something. They usually don't have greens or okra very early in the day while waiting 30min in my car. Also I ordered three full wings dinner that was advertised but when I receive my meal, I got a breast a leg and a small WING.
