I'm so happy a friend told me about this establishment, actually, a fellow Yelper. Their chicken is so fresh, and the crunch you get with every bite, every seasoned bite....Heaven! Their fried fish is the same. They use real catfish, whereas some places claim you're getting catfish, but you're actually getting Swai at the same price. The fried chicken was fantastic with a delicious flavor and great crunch. The fried catfish was fresh and an awesome seasoning added to the batter made it all the better, the oakra, and sweet potatoes were equally as good. The restaurant has a very generic atmosphere which lets you know all the attention is on the food and not trying to bring customers in based off looks, its all about the food quality. The service was super friendly and the manager came out, without us asking, to change the tvs to some toddler movies for our little one. She was dancing in the booth with a mouthful of yams. The place seems to be more of a takeout restaurant, but their booths are nice and clean. My only criticisms are the white bread slice (I know it's traditional for a lot of people, but it's not my favorite) and the lack of access to plates and cutlery. The food is great for the most part. My only complaints: - they frequently run out of items. It's 5:55 and they told me they are out of sweet potatoes. A couple of days ago it was the Mac. This has happened many times and prevented me from ordering. - sometimes the chicken skin get soggy in the way home. It might be from the juices of the sweet potatoes leaking onto it. Or how they pack it. - chicken breast is often pretty dry. So I stick with dark meat. - lastly. I wish they would expand a bit an add tenders or chicken sandwiches. My wife and her sister came home one day and said that our local catfish restaurant was serving a "catfish" imported from Vietnam called Swai.. They said it was inedible. First of all, the food here is amazing. Hand down some of the best fried chicken and catfish I've had in the DFW area! The pieces are really well fried, flavorful, and juicy. The Mac and cheese was appropriately cheesy and was well seasoned, and the okra was also good (although I wish it could've been a bit better). The portions are big enough to split with another person or save some for a second meal. Don't be fooled, the food is so good but it is rich and heavy! The place itself is super tiny and most people took their food to go. There is a wait to get the food so order in advance. This is not a sit down restaurant or a place to bring a large group. For this purpose, I really wouldn't recommend it for lunch for a group. But if bringing back to place of work, then it's ok. As far as value, I thought it was a bit on the high side, I think I paid around $25 (I tipped although I took away) for lunch.
