OK--another visit to Dave's and a pleasantly opposite experience. Stopped in at around 1:30 on a Monday and ordered essentially the same meal. Service was quick and the food was hot. As in my previous review, the tenders were enormous--close to half a chicken breast each. At first glance, the price point might seem a bit high but you get a lot of food. Another word on spices: Dave's seems to run "zippier" than most. I ordered mild spice today and it still had plenty of zing. That's fine with me, but considering ordering "one level down" if your tastes are on the milder side (like my usual companion's). Based on this most recent experience I'll definitely stop in again when I'm on The Pike. read more

Finally, a spicy chicken sandwich!! I've been longing for a chicken sandwich reminiscent of something along the lines of a Louisiana chicken sandwich. Not Cajun, but it's definitely got the good kick you're lookin for! I went with the extra hot slider with fries. Big chicken portion for a slider and it's hot!! Not only the temp, but the extra hot spice is prevalent. The Dave's Sauce is great for dipping the fries into and extra for the sandwich. The staff were friendly and quick with food orders. I had no intention on coming here today but as I was driving by, I saw there was no crowd and I took a gamble and stopped in. Debating my life choices in the car while perusing their online menu and ordering system, and BOOM! I created an account and placed my order online using Apple Pay. So easy to make and pay for bad decisions! Knock off one star for lame Mac n Cheese. Otherwise, one very tasty and hot (spicy) chicken slider that made me sweat (in a good way). Kale Slaw was very good. Interior and the decorations are all part of the restaurant chain's image and who doesn't like a toy rubber chicken? We have been wanting to try this place out but was always so busy so we happened to be trying the new car wash out beside them a notice.It was very slow, so decided to give it a go. We got daves #1 mild for 11.99! The two pieces of chicken that you get are literally HUGE!!!! You also get crinkle fries which i love! The chicken was amazing and the flavor was on point!! Ordered the "Extra Hot" meal with a slider and a tender, plus fries and a drink. A bit on the pricy side, but good - although my girlfriend ended up with a two tender meal but made "Mild." Also I appreciated the sauce and pickles - a nice touch. Service was quick and the restaurant was clean, with several employees coming out to clean while we enjoyed our meal. The dining room is a bit small, but there is a drive-thru and the place is open late, so I would take it home next time. I took my leftovers home and it didn't make much of a difference heating them up in the microwave. While I'd come back solo, I'm not sure my girlfriend would ever need to return, as the menu is limited for someone who does not like spicy food. read more

We waited a few weeks for the craziness to slow down before finally trying the new Dave's on the Pike. We dined in, and the interior is very cool but small. We got there right at noon on a Saturday and grabbed the last open table. The chicken is fantastic -- super crunchy, and huge pieces! Loved the slaw on the slider. Hubby got the hot level and it made his eyes water, which he was happy about! Fries are excellent. I wouldn't recommend the mac and cheese -- it was watery and bland. We will definitely be back! One negative note -- it was a rainy day and for some reason the floor mats were outside, so the floor inside the restaurant was really wet and slippery. First and last time for us. My kids and husband are not picky eaters at all, they'll try almost anything at least once. This place opened up not that long ago and all we've been hearing about is Dave's Hot Chicken so away we went to try it. None of us were impressed. The chicken was overly seasoned and breaded, the flavor was just not there. It's also pretty pricey for something we didn't enjoy eating. They took a really long time to get our food out (we thought they had forgotten about us) and got one of our orders wrong even though it wasn't busy. We had to clean the table before we sat down. Other than the chicken is "halal" (hopefully) it's really bad powdery breading. Disproportionate chicken for the sliders, or the tenders are too thick. You get this blast of breading and the chicken flavor doesn't make up for the weird dryness that the breading leaves in your mouth. I ordered a slider and it had 5 pickles and a teaspoon of slaw. When I held it looked like a very "happy" man's nether regions. I wanted to eat it in my car, but I didn't want to give the construction guys across the parking lot any wrong ideas. I had Dave's Hot Chicken for the first time this past summer while in Vegas, so I was excited to see it in PA while traveling through Harrisburg area. I pulled in during what was a little slow spell. I ordered right away and waited about 3-4 minutes for my food to be ready. Space was very clean and seemed to be very new. As I sat there eating the restaurant filled up pretty quickly. I opted for a mild spice level as I had a long drive ahead and felt it may be the best choice. I wish I had ordered hot however. The chicken came out piping hot. The chicken was well spiced. I opted for the combo that had a slider, a chicken strip and fries. By the time I added a small drink my total was up to $16 however. A little pricey for fast food, but admittedly it was a lot of food. I enjoyed the slider the most, but added a little more Dave's sauce. The pickles they gave with the food were really good. First couple of weeks you couldn't drive past this place anytime near lunch and not see it packed. It's dropped off hugely, and when I noticed it wasn't packed gave it a try. I like a simple menu, but this was too simple. Basically no options. Chicken tenders or chicken sliders... which is a tender on a roll. Got two with Mac and cheese. Other people have commented on the price for the simplicity of the food. The struggle is real. I don't remember what I paid exactly - $13? 15? Whatever it was it was way too much for two chicken tenders, a couple of pickle slices, French fries, and a slice of white bread. Seriously. White bread. What the hell am I supposed to do with that. Calculate the value of those things and tell me it's like $15. Did I mention I got fries? I ordered Mac n cheese, but by the time I got to where I could open my container to find I had fries, it was too late. The fries are crinkle fries. The worst of all the fries, excepting POSSIBLY waffle fries from chick fil a. These fries were so heavily coated in seasoning they were virtually inedible. Anyway, they were soggy and crappy like crinkle fries always are. The chicken... was cooked fine. The problem isn't that you'd barely know there was chicken. The coating is so thick and granular that it was like eating chicken buried in sand. Seriously one of the least satisfying meals I've ever had. I took a bite of the white bread to see if I was an idiot and it was some kind of magically fantastic white bread. It was not. I ate less than half the food, trashed the rest, and got something else to eat a little while later. Believe it or don't. Try it. If you like it, good on ya. I wasn't expecting much cause it's fast food, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food came out fast. The order was correct. The portions were bigger than I expected. The slider was the size of a full size sandwich. About the same size as a Chic-Fil-a sandwich. I got the Hot and my wife got the extra hot. The heat was about as much as I could handle, but not too hot. They give you a good amount of sliced pickles and the fries were seasoned well. My only complaint is drinks are not included with the combo meal. You have to purchase them separate. If you're serving hot and spicy chicken, drinks should come with the meal. This was our first time at Dave's got Chicken. Wife had nuggets. She got the hot. They were hot but not out of line with other spicy hot foods. They were ok. I took the chicken tender out of the bun and ate it without the bun. The lady that took our order was very nice. She gave us alot of Dave's sauce for dipping. We also got honey. I didn't think the Dave's sauce was anything special but the honey on the chicken was very good. All staff that we encountered were nice. Hard to hear inside the restaurant. Everything echoed alot. Curious about why so many people lined up at drive thru , I decided to give it a try. After what seemed like an eternity to have my order taken, I decided to try the one tender one slider with fries combo #3 medium... order taker was speaking so fast I could not understand him. 28 minutes after getting in line , I finally got to the window. Food had an odd smell, kind of like burnt plastic. Had a strange taste as well, and obviously the oil in fryer must have been really old. Dark brown tint to both fries and chicken, very unpleasant taste, chicken inside was okay but the burnt dirt coating on it was inedible. Came with some pickle chips and a piece of white bread , actually the only part of the whole package that was edible. I ate about half of it, then threw the rest in the trash. Felt like I had just wasted a bunch of time and a whole lot of money on food not fit for human consumption. It's that bad. And how they crammed a drive thru in a lot that small is a wonder. Here's the thing, the first 3 times I had Dave's I would rate it 4 or 5 stars. Their food is pretty tasty. But oh boy, this last time was a journey of pain. The second tender tasted a little off...but I ate it any way. That was probably top ten biggest mistakes of my life, and I am a man that got his nipples pierced on a dare. What happened next was 70 hours of the worst food poisoning that I had ever gotten. The large Chocolate shake was delicious...but it was almost $5 and it was slightly more than 12oz. My wife and I shared a two slider meal with fries and Mac & Cheese side. The best part of the meal was not the chicken. The chicken seasoning/coating (ordered hot) was super salty. The Mac and cheese salty as well. It reminded me a of Velveeta cheese sauce. 1st & likely last time here. We went to the drive thru (on a Tuesday) at 1:45 pm, waited til about 2:10 til we got our order. They have a traffic director which, okay, it's a new place, understandable. What is NOT understandable is said traffic director coming up to our car & asking us to pull up as far as we possibly could in order to "get as many cars in the lines as possible". Uhm. What?! I just kinda gave her the side eye & replied that I would pull up about one foot, but that there wasn't even anyone behind me at that point. *I was only 3 feet away from the car in front of me before she asked* She tried to tell me that she was "just doing her job". I told her it was our 1st time here & we just wanted to enjoy it. The whole interaction was weird & made for a bad taste in our mouths before we'd even tried the food. Onto the food- yeah, pretty much matched the drive thru experience. It sucked. The chicken is overpriced, overbreaded & seriously overspiced. The Mac & cheese was nuthin to sneeze at. Like. At all. Went here last night to pick up food.....we decided to give it a second chance, still disappointed. The food is average....but the customer service was horrible! The chicken we ordered was advertised at $40...rang up for $45 the fries advertised at $10...rang up for $12.50 (all pre tax mind you) . When this error was pointed out to the cashier they stated "oh our prices changed, we just didn't update them"....Okay, understandable but not the customers fault, the business law is a company must honor the advertised/ticketed price. A manger happened to walk by, we addressed our concerns when them, "sorry, there's nothing I can do about it for you". They didn't even offer a complementary beverage or simple apology. Shameful.
