I called in to order for take out and the man that took my order was very polite on phone. It was kind of him to follow up my order of green current and drunken noodles to ask if we wanted to add a protein. We chose chicken for both. When I arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was clean and cozy; it would be a great spot for a date. The last time we dined at Chalit was at their previous location; it's been years. I always got pad thai in the past and wanted to have curry this time. I forgot that green curry is the spiciest when I was trying to decide between yellow or green. It's been years since I got to eat curry and at least a decade since I looked into the traditional heat levels! So, green curry is somewhat hotter than I typically choose but this was so delicious. I had it with their special brown rice - it's been so long since I dined in at the old location that I can't remember what makes it unique, but it is delicious with a wonderful tooth to it - it was perfectly cooked. We ordered the crab fried rice, pineapple fried rice, vegetable fried rice, spring rolls, chicken dumplings, and Thai tea. The standout dishes were the crab fried rice and chicken dumplings--the fried rice was packed with flavor, while the dumplings were incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. The spring rolls were also excellent, and both the pineapple and vegetable fried rice were well-executed and satisfying. The only miss for us was the Thai tea, which was a bit sweeter than we prefer. I've been dining at Chalit's Thai Bistro since 2012. Over the years, I've celebrated occasions here, recommended it to friends and family, and continued supporting the restaurant through COVID and even during the owner's family's battle with cancer because I believed in supporting local businesses. Sadly, everything I admired about this restaurant disappeared in one evening. We had a reservation for 5 adults and one 4-year-old child. We knew we'd be a few minutes late, so we called ahead. We were told it was completely fine. To make things easier for the staff, we had our entire order ready before anyone even came to the table. When we politely asked our server to repeat our order just to confirm everything was correct, she replied with attitude, "I understood." From that moment on, it was clear that we were not welcome. Not once during the evening did we receive a smile, a friendly interaction, or even basic courtesy. Our server, Brianna, introduced herself as the manager. Unfortunately, she displayed none of the professionalism, patience, or hospitality you would expect from someone leading a restaurant. Every simple question seemed to annoy her. When the bill arrived, a 20% gratuity had automatically been added. I politely asked why, since we were 5 adults and one 4-year-old child. Her response was simply: "That's how it is. Your kid took space." I accepted the explanation and moved on. As we were leaving, I respectfully asked if I could speak with the owner about my experience. Brianna told me she was the manager, so I calmly explained that I was disappointed with how we had been treated. Instead of listening, she became even more dismissive. There were two receipts--one showing only the total and another listing the ordered items. When I simply asked which items belonged to which bill, she acted irritated that I had asked such a basic question. Then came the moment that ensured I would write this review. She looked directly at me and said: "One review won't make a difference." and then, "I couldn't care less." Imagine hearing those words from someone who says they are the manager. Those two sentences told me everything I needed to know about how this restaurant values its customers. This review isn't about the automatic gratuity. It isn't about repeating an order. It's about respect. For over 14 years, I chose Chalit's because I believed they cared about their customers. Last night, I learned that loyalty means nothing when the person representing the restaurant openly says they "couldn't care less." The next day, we had lunch at a restaurant in Hershey. The waitress greeted us warmly, smiled, answered every question with patience, and made us feel genuinely welcome. It reminded us how hospitality is supposed to feel--and how far Chalit's has fallen. If you're planning a birthday, anniversary, family dinner, or any special celebration, I would think twice before choosing this restaurant. Food is only one part of dining out. The way you're treated is what people remember long after the meal is over. I've had better customer service at fast-food counters and takeout restaurants than I experienced from the manager at Chalit's. After supporting this restaurant for more than a decade, I never expected to leave feeling disrespected instead of appreciated. Good restaurants serve food. My wife and son went there this evening for the first time. The food was very good. We started with the golden triangles which were amazing. My wife ordered the crab pad Thai while I ordered the broccoli and white garden mushrooms with chicken. Both dishes were great. Our son got the calamari which he said was great as well. This was some really good Thai. They had a good menu and the decision was hard, but I enjoyed every bite. Thai food is either a hit or miss in my book and this place nailed it. Chalit's was very good! I am an avid pad thai eater and this is definitely one of the best pad Thais I have ever had. The portions were generous, I was hungry so I ate it all but it definitely could be 2 meals. There were several unique dishes like crab pad thai and thai bbq chicken (which does have bones). The wonton soup was garlicky and flavorful and the thai tea was also good. Fair prices for the amount of food given. It was pretty busy, we had reservations but nobody was really sitting waiting anyways. There were multiple birthday celebrations happening so service might have taken a little longer than usual but other than that it was great. read more

You can never go wrong with Chalit's! I've been eating there for years and I have never been served a bad meal. The food has a unique spin and the atmosphere is definitely trendy but you can have a romantic dinner or just an evening with friends without stress. I love that they don't try to rush you out the door! The servers are very knowledgeable of the menu and have great recommendations if you just don't know what to get. Plenty of parking is available and they are a BYOB establishment, so feel free to bring a bottle of wine. They will provide an opener and glasses, so you can leave those items at home. read more

It has a few years and I was not honestly looking forward for this visit. ( it has improved a lot.)This place is an up scale place for your lunch experience. So if you're on a budget you may want to consider a lesser option. Service was very good and knowledgeable of the menu. I tried several different things on their menu. All of what I tried was extremely good. Even the other dish at the table looked good. We were in and out in time. It was expensive for the portion size. But big on flavor. Chalit's has been my favorite restaurant in the area, that is until last night. I was with a group of six, five of whom were seniors. Starting with the server, we had asked for an ice bucket for our white wine which never arrived. We all ordered dishes that we had enjoyed there before, and three of them were very unsatisfactory. The Buddha dumplings arrived cold. Then we waited for almost an hour until the entrees arrived. Two in our group ordered the Cha-cha catfish, (something they always order) which came totally chewy and dried out. Someone else ordered the sea bass, which was arrived shriveled and overcooked. When explaining to the waitress the issue with the sea bass, she was condescending and reluctantly returned it to the kitchen. (The replacement was the way it should have been in the first place.) The right thing to do would have been to take it off the bill since the replacement arrived when everyone else was finished. I don't know if the problem was with the server, the kitchen, or both, along with a bit of ageism. Needless to say, we were all very disappointed and really hope it was a fluke. read more

Be aware of potentially small takeout portions. I was hosting in-laws and offered the best Thai in the area, Chalits. But it was embarrassing to return home with Prik King Chicken that looked like someone else's leftovers. The to-go container was approximately half full. I'd guess there were 2-3 oz of chicken in the entree. If that's an $18 dinner these days, so be it - but compared to everyone else's order, it stood out as noticeably "off." Even the white rice sides/compliment boxes were loosely packaged. Like, for $18, at least let me get some dang rice. This isn't the first time takeout entrees from here appeared noticeably light. The hostess was great. The food was good. Just a heads-up for other takeout folks to either order extra or elsewhere. read more

We've eaten in at Chalit's Thai Bistro once and picked up take out multiple times. Every visit has produced the same results, great tasting food that leaves me wishing I had ordered more. First and foremost, I love Chalit's brown rice blend. Most orders give you the option of Jasmine white rice or Chalit's brown rice blend. I always opt for the brown rice and am never disappointed. Most recently I ordered the brown rice blend in a spicy tofu stir-fry (hold the egg). I've also ordered the Spicy Garlic and Black Pepper and the Chinese Broccoli and Roasted Chili Pepper. All with tofu. Excellent stuff. My wife almost always opts for the Pad Thai and Spring Rolls. She has yet to be disappointed. For excellent Thai/Chinese takeout with lots of vegan options give Chalit's a try. read more

I wanted to try this restaurant on many occasions but never really had time to come in. It was easy to make reservations. One seated it didn't take long for the waitress to come. It wasn't that crowded but it did appear that the waitress maybe had too many tables that she could handle. This is the only reason why I gave this restaurant four stars because she did not come back in a timely fashion to check to see if everything was okay with our food as well as to Simply take our order for food. The Ambiance is beautiful it's low lit and somewhat romantic definitely a perfect place for a date night or a birthday dinner or any special occasion really. The food was typical Thai food my only issue that I have with the food was that the chicken satay was extremely undercooked and pink on the inside. Price point: I have tried many Thai restaurants within the area and I must say that the price for this particular restaurant was a little on the high side and quite frankly offered smaller portions then other Thai restaurants literally around the corner from this place. read more

For apps we had Thai spring rolls (filled w/cabbage, silver noodles & carrots); their thin, crispy fried shells, veggie filling & tangy sweet & sour sauce made the perfect trifecta. We also had Thai steamed dumplings (flavorful minced pork & shrimp inside tender, thin wonton wrappers w/sweet soy vinaigrette); they were my fav! For my entree, I had shrimp & scallops (so meaty & tender) w/green curry sauce (mildly hot & expertly spiced in a coconut milk base over tender eggplant slices, bamboo shoots & red bell peppers), served w/steamed vegetable mix (tiny portion--2 broccoli florets, 3 or 4 small cabbage slices & curling carrot garnish) & Jasmine white rice. It was excellent; l only wish it came w/more steamed broccoli & cabbage! My brother had the beef short ribs special in yellow curry. I sampled it & the meat was so tender it could be easily fork cut & melted in your mouth. The sauce had a sweetness owing to coconut, I believe & was served over potatoes & carrots. Our server was friendly, attentive & thorough. The atmosphere was simple w/a few decorative Thai accents--gold statues at entrance, hanging bamboo lanterns & colorful Origami-like fish on the wall. Thai tasty goodness at its finest. This place survived through the pandemic. I remember standing in the parking lot with 5-foot spacing, in a mask, waiting for my takeout. It's worth it! Reservations are a must. Always check the specials. There is always something tasty. I usually get the Pumpkin Ravioli with the Spicy Coconut Saice, with Prawns and Crab. But tonight I tried something different. It was a good choice. Crab See You. Flat rice noodles sautéed in sweet soybean sauce with egg, sprouts, crab, and prawns. Appetizers- Thai Chicken Wing dish. It had a Thai spicy barbecue sauce with sesame seeds and they were perfectly cooked. They were crispy. They were juicy. And we loved them! Steamed Thai Dumplings - plump dough filled with pork and goodness. Entrees- Crab See You Pad Thai dish with soybean sweet sauce, lots of shrimp and a touch of Crab. I was expecting a little bit more crab, since that was the first name of the dish. But to be honest, there was not much. Pad Woon Sen Silver noodles sautéed in sweet soybean sauce with egg, onion, cabbage, carrots, scallions, and tomatoes. The two appetizers, two entrées, and one non-alcoholic drink, all totaled $60 pre-tip. This is one of my wife's favorite restaurants. And I must agree, they are pretty delicious. Get a reservation and come check it out. They will also ask you how hot you want it. They give you spice scale of 1 to 10. I had a scale three and I think I can definitely go up to 5.
