I was highly recommended this place as authentic and it sure delivers! The location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. As we entered we were greeted with a smile and seated. The tables, chairs, floors and restrooms were clean. We ordered aloo tiki chatt, samosas, onion nan, dahnawali chicken, chicken chetinadu, and mango lassi. Our meals were medium heat. I love spice heat and this delivered. They do have a mild options but medium was great and it didn't bother my digestion. Every bite was amazing! Got take out from this restaurant with my coworkers. Spice level: spicy has a little kick to it, makes your taste buds tingle. Chicken biryani: I felt like I had a little taste of home eating this biryani. It was flavorful, the chicken came right off the bone, and you can see the saffron added to the rice. It traveled well. Naan: definitely recommend the chili garlic naan, the garlic naan was good as well. malai kofta: soft, the kofta was flavorful, has cashews in it Saag paneer: very good, the saag is blended but not completely so you still have the mixed greens structure to it. The paneer was nice and soft Chicken tikka masala: chicken was soft and it tasted good, a little too much food coloring but it did not alter the taste. Best Tandoori chicken I've had outside of India. I tried about 6 of the dishes available from the lunch buffet. All very well prepared and seasoned. Kadai Lamb had tomatoes and onions that were not sliced at all and had four pieces of lamb for a $19 dish. Still charged me for the Ice Cold Samosas which were $20. No apology. Did not get our other appetizer, false charges on the bill. Immediate stomach ache mid meal, which has never happened. Still recovering. It was a cinematic experience driving back home. We even did catering before and food was good but one complaint was the fact they forget to pack us the rice so my husband had to drive another 40 min to get the rice. This past weekend we decided to try the buffet and I must say we were very impressed. There was goat biryani, veggie biryani, goat curry, chicken curry, paneer, vegetable curries. Like they had so many options! All of the goat options were amazing. I'm usually very picky when it comes to goat bc it if it's not cooked well it has this meaty smell but this meat was seasoned and cooked so well. Buffet was $20 per person and comes with complimentary dosa and naan. Overall I think it was totally worth the money. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in the central Pennsylvania area and I must say this is the best. As a Bengali I definitely approve of this place and recommend it to everyone bc the food is actually catered towards the desi community unlike a lot of other places that cater towards the non- desi community. The food was served in disposable plates due to the Covid-19 situation and there was only one person who took our order and served us. He wore mask and gloves all the time. Coming to the taste-samosas were bad,cut mirchi was good and biryani was average at the best. Prices were slightly high when compared to the portion size given. Decent food, but way overpriced. We tried it on a Sunday so they had the buffet on. You can order from the menu, and I wish we had. The good: The channa masala and the puff samosas with it were delicious and I also enjoyed the goat curry and the eggplant. The less good: the service was almost nonexistent for the buffet. They ran out of napkins, set out some plates that weren't thoroughly washed, and the whole vegetarian side of the buffet was cold (I assume the warming unit was broken, but that should have been obvious when they swapped out any of the trays). Bottom line: you could go to Kritunga's buffet for the same price, so why wouldn't you? read more

Their food is fresh, bursting with flavor, they offer a wide variety, they have everything you want in Indian cuisine. A little uncomfortable when we took out of town guests there (should've taken them a place we already vetted). The fact that it was totally silent inside too made it more uncomfortable. A good friend of mine recommended this place. He told me it was too spicy for his tastes but that everyone loves it. So glad I listened to his advice. I frequent this place a lot. The Banana Leaf restaurant is one of the newer additions in the growing Indian restaurant scene in the HBG area. Occupying a former fast food restaurant's building along the Pike in the Walmart shopping plaza, provides easy access and ample parking for customers. The interior is sparsely decorated and bright, which is a nice change from many Indian restaurants who adorn everything in bold colors. Service was very attentive and welcoming upon our arrival. The food was very good and the menu contained standard dishes offered at many restaurants, but also included some new dishes on their menu. I liked how their menu was organized into specific categories, such as curries, tandoor items. Vegetarian, etc. This provided a way to browse their menu quickly. The portion size was quite large and we had multiple leftovers to take home. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly! The samosas were very good and full of flavor as were their naan bread service. This is the best Indian food I've had. The samosas were fresh and lightly spiced, perfect with their mint sauce. You could tell it was made in-house because the texture of the pastry was crumbly and fresh. Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Biryani were full of flavors, which were well-balanced.
