The spiciness and flavor were good, although hot would have been more to my liking. The tender was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I did find it overly salted. If you're trying to decide between Hot or Extra Hot: Hot is much better in my opinion. Extra hot has a weird taste that's hard to identify but I'm going to have to say it has molasses or Maple syrup added to the sauce. Hot has a milder kick but much more flavor. Extra hot has some heat after a while, but it was hard for me to get used to the syrupy flavor. Dave's is located on the corner of College Blvd and Oceanside Blvd where Baskin Robbins used to be. The parking lot has a good amount of spaces but it's tight and can get crowded. When Rubio's reopens next door I imagine it'll be tougher to find a spot. Each time I've been to this location it's been busy but the line moves steadily. The restaurant is well lit and they play a lot of throwback music. The cashiers have always been friendly, helpful and not stingy with the sauces. One of the cashiers Layla, always has a smile on her face and consistently provides excellent customer service. Give this lady a raise and promotion! We usually order a couple of slider combos and some chicken strips with varying degrees of spiciness. I typically get the medium spice level since it has a good kick without being overwhelming. Since it's usually busy, the wait time for food has taken between 10-20 minutes. This is to be expected with a popular place so no crazy or unreasonable complaints from me. While it does take a while to get your food because evidently they make each order upon request, the food was freshly made and spice was perfect. We got a 1 (next step up from none) and almost couldn't taste spice. The chicken pieces are huge. They have a cheese dipping sauce for .49 each that is very good and the Dave's sauce is good as well. Pickles are fresh and dill. The slider looked really good, will try that next time. We went around 3:30 in the afternoon and few people there. We did take-out. Only one 'all gender' bathroom which would be terrible if the place was crowded. There was a leak on the bathroom floor. Not worthy of losing a star because this is about food. The place was clean.
