First and last time coming to Dave's Hot Chicken. I brought my family in for a nice meal, expecting a casual, enjoyable experience, but we were immediately met with chaos. While we were eating, a fight broke out between two groups right near our table. It was completely uncalled for and ruined the whole atmosphere. I get that things happen, but this wasn't just some minor disagreement - it was loud and disruptive. My kids were scared, and honestly, it's not the kind of place I want to bring my family again. The staff didn't seem to do much to handle the situation either. The food was fine, but after what we witnessed, I don't think I'll be coming back. I expect a lot more from a restaurant, especially when it's supposed to be a family-friendly spot. Not impressed at all. read more

This review hurts my heart as I love me some chicken....love me some spicy hotness as well This is my first time there and more than likely my last Not the absolute worst chicken I've ever had but definitely far from the best! My first star is for the chicken being cooked great, it wasn't dry.(with out the spice) That's maybe as far as I go about the good of the food. Sadly I don't think I have ever used the word dusty or powdery when I ever talked about chicken. This chickens "hotness" comes from just being caked in powdered spices after being cooked. Not spiced before the breading...not spiced in the breading process but after everything is said and done just cake it in powder. Almost like they forgot everything until the last minute. The fries weren't great either, I tried it on the sauce and definitely didn't marry like it would have with a nice fry sauce. Note to self use the sauce on the chicken. I will say we probably could have split the slider meal as it seemed bigger than a "slider" size that you're thinking of. I read the reviews after I tasted everything and thought there's no way I'm the only one that thinks this. For sure I'm not! There's a lot. If I may make a suggestion instead of hoping for it to make its own sauce you take a little of that hot oil and spices and put them together to make a sauce. (If wanting to add the spice last) but would be great to do the spices during the making of your chicken. And if you realllly needed to, you could sprinkle...sprinkle a lil spice after the fact... SPRINKLE! This powered chicken isn't it and actually makes the chicken experience very dry...even though when it's just the chicken it isn't dry at all. The sauce that comes on the side with it you definitely need to dip your Sammy in it to get it down. The lady at the counter that took our order wasn't very personable. I had questions as it was my first time being there. It was a chore to answer and I feel like she was made to come in on her day off... at least that's what the attitude reminded me of. The second star comes in for the cleanliness. It was clean in there but it should have been as we were like the 3rd couple to be in there. I'm going to say something that does kind of throws you for a loop as not being waited on and you having to put order in at counter and go pick up as well. When you ask for a tip for this self service it makes it feel like you don't pay your employees enough. We all understand a waitress doesn't get paid as much as the other workers because they get tips. But there's no wait staff here...so everyone should be getting paid well. I'm not one to ever complain about a tip as I was a waitress and I've also worked food service where you don't ask for tips but if they are given out of the blue it is nice...but not mandatory and how it's set up is like it's mandatory or they aren't putting in your order. I don't know it's odd. The person I was with did too but thought it was super weird when they found out that we do everything but cook our food. I wish this was a good review and feel bad it's not. I had my first Dave's Hot Chicken today. I had the single slider medium heat with slaw, pickle and cheese, fries, and a side of mac and cheese for our table to share. I loved it! Enough heat to make my nose run but not make tears in my eyes. The seasoning on the crispy fries is yummy. The Mac and cheese is very creamy, a good thing to eat if your tongue is on fire. My son got his chicken hot and gave me a bite. The jump in heat between medium and hot is significant! I can only imagine how hot the two levels above hot are! He ate every bite and had sweat on his forehead. Lol! The girl who took our order patiently answered our questions and made good suggestions. I noticed other reviews were critical of the service but for us it was just fine. A long line did form after we'd sat to wait for our order, but I attributed that to the popularity of the place and the huge queue at In and Out Burger just across the parking lot. The dining room is cute and the classic rock music was good. Seems like they've worked through the initial customer complaint at opening. So, give Dave's a chance. We'll be back soon! read more

Pretty nice little place, been several times. Tonight is Valentine's Day, ok, not the most romantic of places but it was her choice. We walk in, it's busy, and there's a long line with only one register working. And that's my rub. About 8 minutes into the wait, I'm wondering a few things: 1) why aren't both registers working? 2) why is the order taker asking 30-40 questions per person in line? 3) do I really like this place that much? 4) how long is the wait for food, if the wait to order is this long? 5) why is that little kid (not a baby or toddler) being allowed to screech at the top of his lungs? 6) is In and Out Burger a more tempting option? I don't know, but I'm thinking my visits to this place are coming to an end. Even the over-priced pizza joint down the line seems more appealing. Sorry Dave, just not a great experience. read more

Considering they only have 5 menu items, I would expect the order line to move a little faster, but the place is new so ‍. Also I paid an extra dollar for cheese and didn't get any. The tenders are delicious. However, there was a very large disparity in the size of the tenders. My parents' in their sandwiches looked just like the picture in the menu. Mine was quite small in comparison. I told the manager and he told me that is just how it comes. He said, some are big and some are small and skinny. As long as it is 4 inches even if a skinny piece that doesn't cover the bread, too bad. He didn't offer to exchange or apologize. It was my fault for saying anything. After hearing so much about this place I had to try it out, it's honestly pretty good! The chicken is crunchy and stays crunchy even when it gets cold. The sauce is alright, you'll enjoy it if you like mayonnaise. The chicken was fresh and hot, fries were crispy, and the pickles are perfect as a palette cleanser between bites. This place in particular was pretty spacious, so I enjoyed that. The girl at the window had a great attitude, but it was my first time and all my food was wrong. I ordered the chicken and waffles which come with 6 bites and only got 3 in my order. I got the rocket crème slushee which only got red slush in it and not blue. Which they had the blue slush at the time. And I asked for a single cauli tender and got charged and received a whole slider meal. The only thing that was right about my order was the side of Mac and cheese. Which not having the whole menu listed on the board is a bummer. The wait was long. Not sure if there just wasn't enough staff . But overall food tasted good. To be honest, i've had the one in LA... idk what they are doing here but that chicken shouldn't taste straight on like powdered seasoning. it just shouldn't. Do not order the cheese unless you like sliced kraft cheese that's usually dry when you get it so it tastes like plastic. the amount of coleslaw was like a taste tested amount. pickles were good tho. fries were heavily seasoned i couldn't finish them. chicken itself was juicy, cooked well. i did add honey packets to mine, it helped with the powder seasoning. it's heavily priced but considering the economy, i get it. Not a place I'll visit again, i tried it, didn't like it here. i do love the one back home but not here. service was eh, feel like the line could have went a bit smoother. tables weren't really wiped down , a few had bits of food on them, I say give them a shot but not my cup of food.
