    House salad.

Someone recommended this quaint restaurant to me because I absolutely love French onion soup. Hidden off PCH and 5th, this restaurant is a hidden gem First impression, more upscale than the other places i go to. Staff super nice, clean and very relaxing. A definite local hangout. I had my go to drink, a Manhattan, oh my this was delicious. I ordered the French onion soup and house salad. The soup was so flavorful, rich broth, big pieces of onion and super cheesy. The salad was nice and crisp with a nice dressing. Please enjoy the pictures Remember to do random acts of kindness as it will make everyone feel wonderful. It's time I stopped gatekeeping this fabulous eatery. Tucked in a quaint strip mall, comes steakhouse that is also small in stature. But despite all things appearing to be diminutive, Patty's Place brings the grandest of all accoutrements that you would expect of a 5-star steakhouse. As you walk through the doors, on any given evening, you might find any of the Seal Beach dignitaries sitting at the copper plated bar. You're greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both upscale and cozy. And from behind the bar, all of the bartenders are incredibly attentive and friendly, making you feel like a valued guest from start to finish. But the one bartender who makes me feel like one of the SB locals is Jake. Words cannot express how Jake has made me feel welcome every time I pass through the wooden entrance door. From many visits due to work, he knows all my food tastes as well as my choice of liquors. Jake's knowledge of whiskeys, scotch, and bourbons created conversations with him that increased my wisdom of such liquor spirts. You can tell he enjoys his craft and it shows in every drink he makes. The food? Phenomenal. As you can tell from my photograph submissions, I've had almost all the bar menu meals. I had the bone-in ribeye, and it was cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and paired with mushrooms and asparagus that were equally divine. The burgers are a blended patty that is cooked to a perfect medium-rare and juicy each time. My favorite dish is the Filet Mignon Stroganoff with fresh pappardelle pasta infused with a rich cream sauce that is heavenly. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, just want a memorable night out, or just want a great cocktail, Patty's Place delivers on all fronts. It's clear why this place has such a stellar reputation. My next visit can't come soon enough.

This breakfast hit the spot, Kobe Patty and eggs, Hash-brown and fruit. More than enough to shared. Always great sitting at the bar, but it will filled up quick. Curtis is great, funny and Nick is always there to greet you with open arms . Nothing wrong with Sunday champagne, delicious meal and football.

When I made the reservation, I was asked whether we were celebrating a special occasion. I said yes--it was my friend's birthday. When we arrived, our server acknowledged it by saying, "I hear we're celebrating a birthday," which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. We waited quite a while before our server took our order, even though she attended to two nearby tables multiple times first. I couldn't help but notice that those tables appeared to receive more attentive service than we did. I don't know the reason, but it certainly left us feeling overlooked. We ordered three dishes to share, yet we rarely saw our server afterward. In fact, we had more interaction with the busser than with our server. After brunch, two dessert menus were silently dropped on our table by someone other than our server. Since the restaurant had asked about the birthday twice--once during the reservation and again upon arrival--it felt odd. It almost gave the impression they thought we were expecting a complimentary dessert, even though we never asked for one. We ordered a single dessert to share, and our server eventually brought it out, then returned moments later with a candle. I don't expect complimentary desserts or special treatment. My only suggestion is this: if a restaurant asks guests whether they're celebrating a special occasion, there should be some meaningful acknowledgment--or simply don't ask. Otherwise, it creates unnecessary expectations. More than anything, I felt disappointed for my friend, whose birthday brunch should have felt more welcoming and memorable. FOOD The meal itself was a mix of highs and lows. The standouts were the peaches and burrata and the blue oyster mushroom pizza--both were excellent. The baked eggs, however, missed the mark because the yolks were completely overcooked and solid. The burnt cheesecake was another disappointment. While Basque cheesecake should have a deeply caramelized, dark brown exterior, this one was so blackened that it tasted bitter. One helpful tip: mimosas are available even though they aren't listed on the menu. They cost $18 per glass. ATMOSPHERE The restaurant itself is beautiful. The modern design and patio-style seating create a bright, inviting space with a pleasant breeze on a nice day. Unfortunately, the inattentive service overshadowed what could have been a wonderful atmosphere. Would I return? No. There are too many restaurants that make guests feel genuinely welcomed, and I'd rather support those establishments.

Upscale Restaurant on 2nd Street with Delicious Food…read more I've visited Saint & Second on multiple occasions: for drinks, a casual lunch, and my birthday dinner. Reservations are fairly easy to get, which make it an optimal choice if I'm looking to have a nice meal. The ambiance of Saint & Second is what sets it apart from other Belmont Shore restaurants. There's indoor seating and rooftop seating upstairs, and both areas are designed impeccably. The food menu changes every few months, which is great because it allows the chefs to experiment with new menu items, but I have been left missing past items. When I returned for the third time for my favorite hummus, I found that it was discontinued for a nice, but less tasty green hummus (which leaned more into an avocado flavor than traditional hummus flavor). Overall, if you'd like to return to Saint and Second, you should expect some changes to menu items every few months and plan accordingly. One appetizer I'd recommend is the tuna on crispy rice. This is a consistent item with great flavors that trump other tuna crispy rice dishes I've had at other restaurants. The amount of fish on this item is generous. If you are celebrating your birthday here like I did, they offer a delcious smores-flavored dessert. However, this dessert is not complimentary, and we were charged without the server informing us of the dessert's price. Overall, in terms of food, this restaurant offers a fresh array of menu items. I believe the server told us that their kitchen is a scratch kitchen, which contributes to the great quality of the food.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

The Food: My party had lunch here specifically for the Thursday deal: $7 smash burgers. And we were pleasantly surprised to find out that not only was each smash burger huge (two cheese patties with bacon) but it also comes with fries. What a deal! Though it doesn't come with lettuce and tomatoes, and it was a little greasy, the smash burger was large, juicy, and satisfying. The fries were also really good; crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. The Service: Our server was friendly, knowledge, and quick to respond when we asked for help. She also did us a solid by providing a side of lettuce (so my mom could get her veggies in) without charging us extra. The Atmosphere: Picture an Irish (American) pub and that's exactly what you get here. Fun decor, TV screens, wood furniture, and a bar area. There's also a small covered outdoor area facing Main Street. The Parking: There's a very small parking lot but there's a free street parking. Just note that they fill up quickly during peak hours. The Conclusion: If you're looking for good (but not amazing gourmet) food in a lively place near the ocean, Hennessy's Grill will serve up a good time.
