I was concerned grinding the stumps down wouldn't get deep enough to remove all the material, and I would have caving in problems in the future when the organic material decomposed. Of all the companies I reached out to, they were the only ones who could grind down deeper than 12-14". They gave me a very competitive quote for all stumps at a maximum depth of 3ft from the base. They came in fully ready, with a sizeable crew and got the job done in less than an hour. They removed absolutely everything and exceeded my expectations. They also made sure to clean after themselves with no traces of dirt left on my driveway. I had the chance to talk to Beto for a bit, a very honest and knowledgeable guy. I picked his brain about a couple future projects, and he gave me very good insights. I will most definitely be reaching out to them again when the time comes.

The issue is not with the actual work, but rather the business model and lack of communication. We have since moved on to another gardening service. Luis wants guaranteed business by charging a monthly fee to show up 2x/month year round. However, for simple lawn/hedge trimming and leaf clean-up, the amount he charges does not make sense. We struck a deal with him for ad hoc service, because nothing grows in the dry months of summer. However, we had a "no-call, no-show" during the rainy season when he had told us multiple weeks in a row that he would come by. When he finally showed up weeks later, he decided to charge us TWICE for overgrowth. Had he shown up the first time he said he would, that would not have happened. It seems he decided our business was no longer worth his time, so he decided to extract the most cash he could from us before we moved on. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Lona's to anyone after this experience.

We went through the stuff to trash and to keep. Fortunately for me he had some time the same week. He is very responsive when texting. On the day of the service, he gave me a heads up that he was running a little late, and adjusted the start time which he did keep. Please don't hold that against him! As a person, he is very polite, attentive to any concerns you may have, and overall seems like a very kind hearted individual. He was working with his Father, and had a couple of gentlemen to stop by to help pick up some of the heavier items. I would highly recommend to reach out to Luis to get a quote on any projects you may have. I know his number will stay in my phone for any future needs. Mahalo Nui Luis, great job.

While our plants were dying because the sprinklers didn't reach or because of the pests (cotton scale?) or biological disease, they maintained them while watching them die. In probably 8-10 years they never added mulch or thatched our lawn. New plants added were full of scale, aphids, you name it many died. Look at the plant maintenance at CVS shopping center 1888 Pacific Coast Highway, you'll see their ongoing quality of care. Check plants added for landscaping. Bougainvillea where a low small spreading plant should be used. Probably 20x. Unbelievable!
