I'll be honest guys, I went the cheap route and had a family friend fix a few things on my truck. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Wrong parts where install and others left so lose that they could have easily fallen off and caused me an accident! After I thought everything was done I brought it in for a wheel alignment. The mechanics on deck noticed things were completely wrong and lose. They gave me their best recommendation and brought my truck to a safe and drivable condition. Then.. they told me my calipers were not working correctly and should get them replaced and it would cost me 1195.00. DON`T TRUST THESE PEOPLE, I called and made an appointment for 7:30 am and explained my third break light on top my camper shell quit working (there is only 1 wire besides ground) and it must be working work in Texas. They called back after 9:30 after dropping it off and said it would be an additional hour because the mechanic needed to run a new wire, and it would be $280. ANOTHER HOUR AND $280, that is some expensive wire, so I told them NO and I`d be down to get it. It still cost me $103, to be told the light is not working, that is what I told them at the time on making an appointment. I say STAY away from these people, and if not, BE SURE TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH BEFORE GIVING THEM THE KEYS. Taking advantage at a time like this. read more

Really friendly staff, but when it's $75 for a cabin air filter change I think that there's something wrong with the whole system of automotive repair as the filter itself cost me $29 at your favorite box store and about 3 minutes of labor to change it myself. 4 stars for the friendly knowledgeable staff but I don't think I'll be coming back unless the repair is extensive or I don't have the tools to do it myself. read more

This is my second time stopping by for a state inspection, the first time they were so busy I couldn't get it done that day, but they were so helpful I came back with my other car when it was due. It was quick, and after the inspection they send you an e-mail detailing the current status of the car with pictures and everything detailing current fluid levels, possible areas where work needs to be done, etc. Amazing. Got a quote on a CV axle replacement that was well under what NTB is charging for the same thing, I'm going to get it done this coming Monday. I've lived in Texas for about 16 months, and have never reAlly needed any car work done. However, the other day I ran over a screw which created a slow leek in my tire. I read up on the Yelp reviews and choose Dave's automotive, I'm glad I did. I walked in explaining my day, both people behind the counter were extremely friendly and seemed to actually care about me as a person. They had asked if I had ever been here before? I said no. They took my car in the shop in about 3 minutes, plugged my tire, and back Ln the road in under 45 minutes. The part that really blew my mind was when I went to pay for the labor, there was no charge! Welcome to Texas!! Dave has earned my business from know on! I dropped my car off having a general idea of what was wrong. I was told I needed a new transmission and a catalytic converter. The estimate was $11,000. I was told they only use transmissions from car dealers. Which is crazy but understandable. Last year my other car was an estimate of $6000 from Honda. I picked up my car and was told I should have it towed because the transmission could drop at any moment. I took my car to Eagle transmission on Buell. They did my other car. They ran all test and said there was nothing wrong with the transmission. I went back to Dave's and ask general questions without telling them they had given completely wrong information. I asked how he knew what what was wrong with transmission. He stated he never looked under the hood at it. He drove it around and that was the issue. I am sad to say they were trying to take advantage of me. I would not recommend them to anyone else unless you want bad information in transmission or anything else. I have not had my car fixed yet due to financial issues I hope to find an honest and dependable shop to do my catalytic converter. This happened in October. I am just getting around to this review. I went here a week before today. I had this confidence of taking my car to them because of the good reviews I've seen. I took my car on a Friday @ 9am.. they didn't say anything else but just told me they would look at it..I didn't get a call from them from the time I left my vehicle..i had to call them at 4pm to find out what's going on. They said they replaced my freon/ refrigerant, pressure was okay, minor leak and added dye to trace where exactly the leak was coming from. "It's so small that we can't really detect it". So sure, me as a limited competent individual when it comes to cars, TRUSTED them. They charged me $210. My problem here is, they took the liberty to do whatever they deemed necessary and just charge me at the end of the day without calling me even once. . Less than 24 hrs, my A/C acted up again. I took it back the next day, 09/12. They said they were not gonna charge me for looking at it again (I mean, why would you even? You failed the first time) This time, it was my compressor. And somehow my compressor is different from any other regular Hyundai's - that my compressor is a valved-type & it wasn't building correct pressure--contrary to what they said earlier. Granted, freon is cheap, it would've been good if they contacted me that diagnosis first hand was $130. We complained about this, and never got a refund or a discount, or any type of customer service at least. Or never got a courtesy service. NOTHING. Better Business Bureau needs to look into your business processes. read more

And this is hilarious given that repair shop that did fix it had a similar opinion of Dave's work and found that their inability to find the cause of the problem in the first place caused the problems. Dave's $1200 bill and "free" work was a summary of things that not only didn't fix the problem, but things I ultimately had to pay for again. Nothing is free lol. read more
