They charged for diagnosis when they did not disclose what the charges would be and if there were charges. They also said the truck needed work when it did not. Stay away! When I asked to not service the truck and for explanation they said the truck was already up. I told them to get it down, and they reluctantly did only after I paid a bogus diagnostic fee. Go next door to E&T - he is now at unlike these guys and does not charge for diagnosis. We needed a minor repair only. read more

Oh my gosh this place is absolutely terrible. I will NEVER come back here again. I popped in because I needed an oil change and an inspection. I'm new to town and they had a sign out that said no wait. Now I know why there is no wait. My oil change took over an hour. I had my 1 year old with me, there was literally no other customer there. Ants had infested this wall, thousands of them in the sitting room. There's finger smudges of oil all over the inside of my car. Seriously what the heck is happening at this place. Whoever was at the desk didn't even want to talk to me. Disgusting. I'm nervous now about if my oil change was even done correctly being it took so long. What a mistake to stop in. read more

I love Discount Tire. I got new tires Saturday and they recommended Austin Automotive in Round Rock for a wheel alignment. I called right away and they said they can get me in Monday at 7:30. When I got there Monday morning, the manager, Mike Small said I wasn't on the schedule and his alignment guy was not there. He smugly said are you sure you called this place. I showed him the business card Discount Tire gave me and it was the right place. The employee sitting next to him admitted he took my call Saturday. From there the manager stuttered for a minute trying to get out he wouldn't be able to fit me in but would try. I got out of there as fast as I could. I would never allow a business to work on my vehicle with that kind of business practices. Poor customer service. read more

I have been taking my vehicles to Austin's Automotive Specialists on I35 for several years with good results. This changed DRAMATICALLY with my last transaction with them. I have a Ford F150 that was having transmission problems. Upon examination, Andy informed me that it needed a new torque converter and that it would be best to replace the entire transmission with a remanufactured unit because of the age and high mileage of the truck. When asked the cost to do this he told me "around$6,000.00" A few weeks later I took it in for confirmation of the work needed and he called me and again told me with would be "around $6,000.00". I took the truck in and told them to proceed with the work. Imagine my surprise when I went to pick up the truck that the cost was OVER $9,000.00!!! I was dumbfounded! When I confronted Andy and told him he had said it would be around $6,000 he said Oh No, that is just the cost of the transmission with no labor!! At no point did he EVER say the cost would be $9,000.00. At this point, all I knew to do was pay the bill and go home. But no, this sad saga was not over! While driving home THE TRANSMISSION EXHIBITED THE SAME PROBLEM THAT IT HAD BEFORE THE NEW TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED. Needless to say, I was furious and returned the truck the next day. So after 2-3 weeks of waiting for ANOTHER transmission which was installed, it now seems to be repaired. Needless to say I will never be back. read more

Been there for wheel alignment recently. The people that check you in are the NOT the friendly people you expect . The feeling you get when you talk to the guys at the front desk is the feeling similar to when one gets pulled over by a cop for speeding over 100 mph . Good thing is they honored the coupon I had. Called around today to get estimates on some general maintenance type things for a used car i just bought.. I was looking for availability of service and ballpark cost of each... Services desired: -Oil Change -Alignment -Front Brakes I had already called around to 3 other businesses who were more than willing to tell me they either did or did not offer each service and if so, what the approximate cost would be, along with the disclaimer that prices may vary slightly once they see the actual vehicle. Cool, understandable. I called this place today and Mike answered the phone: He refused to tell me 1: if they offered each service, and 2: what the ballpark cost would be. He insisted on trying to get me to come into the shop before divulging any prices. i know the game, you want my vehicle in pieces and on the lift already before you tell me prices so that i will give in and say go ahead and do it .... rather than put my vehicle back together and ill take it elsewhere.... Took my vehicle in for a free AAA 40-point inspection and asked for them to check the rear driver-side tire which had a slow leak for months. The manager told me they couldn't find anything wrong with the tire and had even put soap on it to look for a leak. Went home and immediately found a nail in the tire. Took a photo and sent it to the manager who told me to come in the next day for a free plug. Took the car back, manager out, and they couldn't find nail. I showed photo and he told me it was just a rock and it had probably fallen out. Insisted on showing them the nail, went back into the garage but they had the wrong tire off and claimed they had already checked the driver-side rear tire too. I was able to point out the nail in 15 seconds. After removing the tire, they rolled it in claiming that they could not plug it. By fiddling with the nail, they caused it to leak even more as evidenced by all the soap bubbles. On top of that, they don't sell tires, so they sent me off with a badly leaking tire. I drove 2 miles to Sam's and lost 5 lbs of air pressure. Total incompetence! read more

Mike snd his guys were fantastic and did a VERY thorough inspection for a fair price. The only place they could improve would be on communication- I had to call in twice to get updates. Incredibly rude, condescending, and disrespectful!!! In the past, I used to highly recommend this shop to friends/family. They were amazing, helpful and professional. I used them for 2 years. Most of the staff is the same, but they've undergone a horrible attitude change... the first time I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they were just having a bad day. But today my husband went in and they were horrible to him, talked down to him for no reason, and actually expected him to leave his car with them after that. Needless to say he didn't, and we will never take our cars back, and my recommendations will stop. Found another wonderful little place right across the street from them called Little Shop of Automotive. They were amazing and that is where we will go from now on. I was seriously overcharged for a couple of simple tasks. Replaced bulbs in back tail lights and repair a tire (nail pulled and patched). 84.00, that is too much. When I questioned the charge I was advised by the manager that they charge 120.00 an hour and I was paying for the convenience. I told him I was sure I could have gotten this done a lot cheaper elsewhere and he basically said I had only myself to blame. He did not like me questioning the charge and handled himself poorly as a manager. I was not advised up front what the charge would be and I was shocked once it was done. I will never take my car back there. Update: the manager called me and humbly and sincerely apologized. He was kind enough to compensate me and I feel we've come to an agreement. I have taken 2 cars here and couldn't be more pleased. Great service. They make me feel taken care of and are attentive. Never tried to over sell me on anything. Respected my feedback and concerns. Took good care of my eldest son and got his car college ready so my wife and I do t worry. Probably not he cheapest but I also didn't shop around much. Based on experience price was fair. Their prices are by far the fairest and most affordable, and they're super friendly. This place is a RIP OFF BIGTIME!!!!!!!! I did my homework before I brought in the car. My check engine light came on. To fix it, it just needed a part replacement. We are talking 6 nuts and one electrical plug in connection. Simple switch out. The part was easy to get to, unlike some components of a car. They quoted me almost $1K for the repair, my jaw nearly feel. I said no thanks. He called back, said he could work out a discount bringing total to $600. Frustrated I was without a car, I reluctantly told him to go ahead to avoid another appointment somewhere else. I was already out $100+ for them just looking. When they completed, I took it to a garage next door. I told them the exact same thing I told this place and asked how much it would cost. They said maybe 1 1/2 hour to replace the part for $120 labor + part cost. The dealer had the part for $240, for a total of $360. That is over $200 I could have saved. I really could have done this myself, but was so busy. I regret going to this place. The agent Mike really screwed me. This is not an honest place. They will try to make as much money on you as possible. I cant believe their initial quote was $1K. Absolutely ridiculous for just changing a simple to get to part. read more

Well right off the bat, i call a couple of Austin Automotive this one and the off of parmer. The one on parmer offered to top off fluids, rotate tires, for 57.99. This one on 35 did not offer anything. It is 35 extra for tire rotation, unbelievable. The only reason i didnt go to parmer was the fact that I'm going out of town at 1pm and it was going to be a 45 min wait, if not it would be worth the wait. read more

I went in for oil change and to top off transmission fluid. They wanted to charge me an EXTRA $75.00 just to top off the transmission fluid claiming it was for the "Procedure" just because it is filled from under the car. It is no different than checking your gear oil. Most shops will check AND top off your fluids with an oil change. I have been doing maintenance on all my vehicles myself for 30yrs but I was in a hurry and needed it done, but after seeing how big of a RIP-OFF they are.............. I left. After spending thousands of dollars on repair for overheating, I now have my engine boxed up in pieces in the back seat. First they tried to get me to use a head gasket sealer on it and then sell it to the next sucker that didn't know any better, but I don't live my life that way. When it overheated again, they wanted to charge me $900 just to put it back together on an unauthorized tearing apart of the engine. Jon, the front office guy, told me the reason I needed to pay this charge was that "I shouldn't have expected them to fix it", but they sure took my money for a head gasket repair. They have caused me huge loss, and I'm considering a lawsuit. It will be a great day for Round Rock and Austin when Brake Specialists goes out of business. I wouldn't trust them to take my trash to the curb. read more
