So we are here visiting from San Antonio and went in for an ice cream cone a little disappointed because we asked if we could get a sample of some flavor we had not heard off but the guy said no. We were disappointed because for us to pay more then $4.00 and up for ice cream and not knowing if your going to like it makes it hard to try something new if you don't like it you are pretty much sh** out of luck. The place was small just like old school ice cream shop clean guys we're nice ice cream was good but again went with your regular plan ice cream only because they don't give a sample we did want a spoon full just a little sample see if we liked it. It will be a shop we will revisit but maybe by then they will allow a sample like smaller then a dime would have been enough who to say I would have gotten a cup instead of a regular size cone. Small ice cream store on the Port Isabel side of the causeway. Hours of operation vary based upon peak/non-peak tourist season. Basic ice cream flavors are available. I didn't count them but if I recall correctly, they had approximately 20 flavors. Please don't hold me to that amount. I've only been here 1x. The servings were large. A fair amount for the money spent. They also have a few types of candy and an assortment of fudge that can be purchased. I didn't partake of either so I have no opinion. Bottom line - Basic ice cream store with a decent selection of flavors. Large portions. Eat it before it melts. Bon appétit. read more

Nothing special or outlandish here, just good Bluebell ice cream, delicious home made sweets, and an extremely engaging owner/operator. We wanted something besides DQ and were turned away from Dolce la Roma by all the negative reviews. We found this place by its old name, Lighthouse some thing something. We went in and found the shop clean and bright, if a little small. Two adults and a child all ate delicious ice cream for about 8 bucks, so the prices were beyond reasonable. Free samples were not an issue. The owner, Gwen, was very nice and very sweet to our kids. We ended up talking biz, because my wife is really interested in those sorts of things, and it came out that Gwen has only owned the place since April. She mentioned the review below regarding minimum charges for debit cards, and assured me that was an old regime policy, and certainly no longer in effect. There's a fun bird guy outside who will let you play with parrots. Can't give it 5 stars, only because I would have liked more options, like sundaes and banana splits. Gives the shop a personal touch. But highly recommend to anyone in SPI looking to satisfy their sweet tooth. read more

Not sure how this place got such good reviews. When we visited the staff were grumpy and when my son asked about sizes you only got one size and a single scoop. We thought this place was very expensive. I got a brownie sundae (which was delicious) for $6 and my husband a cookies and cream shake (he said was also great) for $7. Neither of which were notably large. I also got some saltwater taffy ($6 or $7 a pound). The coconut taffy was sooo amazing! They did have a lot of variety (snow cones, taffy, sundaes, floats, ice cream cups/cones, shakes, etc.) So other than it being overpriced, everything was good.
