I let their TV commercials convince me they were good. Wrong, they were always changing dentisit without telling you. I had a upper denture made here and it has never fit. I've worn dentures for over thirty years and never had to wear any adhesive. This upper they made for me will not stay in unless I put lots of dental glue on it. They never could make it correct, I kept going back wanting them to make it correct but it never happened. Now I'm stuck with a $2,000 denture that won't stay in. I would not reccommend this dental practice. There may be a good dentist in the group but unfortunately I was not fortunate enough to get one. This was a horrible experience. I was not given and pre-dental medication for anxiety and only received nitrous during procedure, despite me crying (along with my mouth being held open) and begging for the procedure to stop. Not once was any thought from anyone to help with the pain. I am a registered nurse, I have a high threshold for pain, but this was the worst experience I have ever had. Had an Emergency appointment, down came off, worked me in the next day, checked in at the window, gave me a receipt for the visit and said there was no out of pocket needed, insurance would cover. Waited 70 minutes, office staff walks in while I'm in the dental chair and tells me I owe $42.00 co pay, and says she needed payment right then while I was in the chair. This place had some great doctors, but they overbook and never tell you exactly how much you owe. This is the second time this has happened to me here. First time I checked out asked if I owed and Y copay, they said no, then 3 months later sent me a past due for over $1300.00 saying my insurance would not pay it. And they had already turned it over for collection. They are all about money here. read more

I spent $14,000 a few years ago getting veneers on my bottom teeth. What I found out is they took perfectly good teeth and took the top layer off and put veneers on that pop off all the time. And it cost me $200 every time I go just to get them put back on. Do not invest here because they will not invest in you. read more

Had broken crown, went to David & Associates... only 10 minutes of the doctors time for evaluation and 2 x-rays, cost $94.00. After the eval, was told cost of new crown between $1800.00-2000.00 dollars. Went to Walmart dentistry, $40.00 for eval and 2 x-rays. Estimated cost for new crown, $750.00. I understand businesses have to make a profit, but almost 3x the cost? Absolutely unacceptable. How can they justify the difference? Is the material something special? Will never consider this dentist again, not for anything. read more

I have loads of anxiety and expressed I had a fear of the chair. The female staff was outstanding doing my x- rays. One was only on day 3 she was wonderful. Another lady came to help her. My c-rays are hard to do. I was very direct to the dentist. Do not poke me with the tools unless I have gas. Due to my fear. Nope. He was poking around. Angling i expressed . No. I don't meant you doing this. Ever spoke with me told his assistant. Get her an appointment with gas and walked off.. never would I allow him to touch me again. Never! Bedside manner needs to be be retaught. I have an appointment with Dr. Jimmy. Not sure if I'll go. Not the same after David passed away. I was impressed by the assistants . It is with much sadness and disappointment that I find myself in the position of writing this review of David & Associates. I first walked into D&A in March of 2016 to get a D5 Ultra in my upper arch at a cost of $18,000.00, which wasn't IMO an unreasonable fee. The procedure included the implant, the denture, and the extraction of the remaining natural teeth. D&A even provided a car to pick me up in the morning and drive me home after the procedure as well as stopping at my pharmacy to get the prescriptions necessary. I continued as a patient with D&A. In September of 2018, while chewing on a piece of bacon, the denture broke. When I came in to have the situation assessed, it was determined that I would receive a brand-new denture at no charge and no questions asked, as the denture was warrantied for five years. This is all good stuff, and I continued to entrust D&A with my dental care. In the summer of 2022 when I came in for a single implant in my lower arch, I began to notice a definite decline in the quality of service and attention to detail. A sort of lackadaisical, casual approach to customer service. And to be clear D&A is a business, first and foremost. 1. A staff member, or some kind of hygienist called me into a procedure room ready to work on me, but she was set up to do a different procedure on another patient that wasn't me. When I asked why all the equipment was out for a cleaning, she realized her error. Double check please! This is why incorrect legs get amputated in hospitals. 2. When I was in the room to get the aforementioned implant, another technician informed me that they were going to be extracting two teeth. When I pointed out that Dr. David himself had told me that I would need just one extraction and the second tooth would be healed with a filling. Communicate much? 3. I had a credit of $427 until I didn't. And all I got from some from some office functionary was a bunch of Mumbo-Jumbo. I paid. 4. I arrived for an appointment and was told at the desk that I didn't have an appointment, even with a confirmation call a few days earlier. 5. In November of 2023, I was experiencing some discomfort on the left side of the D5 Ultra upper arch. The X-ray revealed that one of the implants "failed" and that it had to be extracted and the denture would have to be "trimmed" because that area wouldn't be supported by the other 5 implants. I agreed to go forward. They also did a bone graft to the area because there was bone loss. All for around $3000.00 all out of pocket. 6. Yesterday Sunday January 21, 2024, I was eating a grilled cheese sandwich, (not chewing on golf balls or a two-by-four) when the tooth next to the one that was trimmed in item 5 above, broke. I can understand that a denture might not last forever, but I don't understand why an implant would "fail". Isn't the purpose of an implant to not need other implants to the same area again? I'm kind of at a loss as to what I should do next. I don't think I trust D&A to provide quality dental care commensurate with the fees they charge. Everything was out of pocket. Let me be blunt: I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE ENTRUSTING MY DENTAL CARE AND TREATMENT TO THE HANDS OF THE PEOPLE AT DAVID & ASSOCIATES COSMETIC DENTISTRY. Let me further state that I couldn't feel right recommending this practice to family and friends. Look, I get it. D&A isn't going to go out of business on the power of one bad review. But word gets around. And I believe that for every one person complaining openly and loudly, there are ten quietly experiencing similar or worse outcomes. What would Dr. David think of all this? I had an implant put a year ago I went there 6 months ago, and I have not been able to go again, I went there yesterday It's a problem with the implant they put in. They put it in the crooked part of the top is not touching my gums the other side is, I will never have this place Touch me again, apparently the dentist that did it is no longer there, so something must have happened. They said they sent me emails and stuff. I never got anything. What a joke of a place. Make sure if you have anything done by this people. Having 2 implants done , it's taken months , had no e mail etc for when to go back for final fitting , I had to contact them which is a ordeal itself getting through to then it's now close to mid might and I'm in ALOT of pain , and implants incorrect so STILL have to go back in 3 wks time , will NEVER USE this dentist again ! This was the third appointment in a row that was canceled because the dentist could not stay for the appointment. Each time the appointment has been cancelled I was called on the day of the appointment asking if I could arrive early because the dentist could not stay till the 4:00 pm appointment. I do not know why these appointments are scheduled if they are only going to cancel them. I can no longer keep rescheduling my calendar just so David & Associates can continue canceling and showing me how much my time is not valued by them. Hopefully this feedback will encourage them to adjust how appointments are scheduled and realize their patient's time is also just as important as theirs. read more

Review for David and Associates. I've tried to hold off in reviews hoping that things would improve and that I could get the most objective feedback I could. So after three visits, here are my overall thoughts: Scheduling was easy, getting in was easy, working with finance was easy, for the most part. On the first visit, without introducing himself, an assistant took me to get x-rays and then took me back to an exam room where country videos were blaring on the TV screen. When in the room, I noticed there was an empty Panera Soup cup on the counter. The room appeared dirty with a variety of other things on the counter. Also, when it came to procedures and more x-rays, there was little to no heads up for what was coming. The assistant was a bit rude and short with me at times while performing exams. When the doctor came back, he appeared knowledgeable and calm, so that put my mind a bit more at ease. Afterward, I had a cleaning visit. The hygienist, maybe trying to be nice, commented on my toenails looking nice. However, it made me feel uncomfortable. He proceeded talking to me and asking questions while he was cleaning my teeth! I obviously would not reschedule an appointment with him, but I tried to brush this off knowing that I could hopefully get a different hygienist if I were to go back. Fast forward to a couple of visits later. In light of my experience, I had told the front office that I wanted a female assistant instead of a male- they did not listen to this. Instead, the same male dental assistant from before came out to get me for my appointment. I'm not one to make a scene and complain, but I found it to be careless and apathetic on the scheduler's part to not pay attention to patient requests. I go back to get a temporary crown taken out. I told him that I was having pain, but he put a wrench-like tool in my mouth to take out the crown. In obvious pain, I stop him, and the dentist, happening to walk by, comes in to give me something to numb my tooth. I felt like this numbing injection should have been offered to begin with. I felt like I should have been given a heads up on potential pain associated with the crown removal. But none of that happened. I'm glad the dentist happened to see what was going on, but had he not been nearby, who knows what could have happened. Later on, I could tell the assistant felt bad. it's the responsibility of dentists and hire ups to make sure that expectations for patient care are clearly articulated with staff. I'm unsure that is happening. I'm disappointed by the overall levels of unprofessionalism. Unfortunately, I will not be back. read more

Due to genetics, I've spent the majority of my adult life in a dental chair or cosmetic dentist office. I'm now 54 and well versed when it comes to dealing with the ups and downs of having veneers, bridges, bone grafts & failed implants. With that said, I thought my bases were covered, and for the most part, I was prepared when I entrusted David and Associates to performing the D5 procedure on my upper Veneers & implants. This was a life altering decision that has changed my perception forever. This office is run like a farmer who herds cattle for a living. There is no personability or continuity when it comes to dealing with the staff. You never know who you're going to see or when they'll get you in a chair, despite having a scheduled appointment. I've never waited less than 45 minutes due to an unexpected emergency or issues logging in to their dual computer systems. You never see the same assistant or doctor for that matter, so it is always. Therefore, you're at a huge disadvantage when they don't take efficient notes or, more importantly, LISTEN to the patients' concerns and address them prior to surgery. I've been self-employed for 20 + years, so a lot of this comes with owning and operating a business, and I could've dealt with the unprofessionalism and their inability to operate like a professional dental office. However, TRUST ME when I tell you that since Joel David, the owner, passed in July, there is no one at the helm of this establishment. You can not speak with an actual Dr. or Officer of the company. You are directed to deal with a lab tech assistant by the name of Steven, a regular "jack of all trades who reports to a gentleman by the name of Luis, who manages the lab and entire D5 side of the practice.. I've asked for full names of the techs, dental assistants, and staff I've seen, but apparently, I don't have clearance because I've yet to become privy to the information. Nor have I received one returned call as requested from one of the "associates" or surgeons on staff now that David is no longer alive. I can honestly say that for the 1st time in my life, I'm more worried about my physical health and the complications caused by the inadequacies and lack of professional medical care I'm receciving than I am about my smile. This is the 1st review I've ever left. They just aren't my thing, but if it helps one person dodge a bullet that's contemplating using David & Associates, to revamp their smile, it was worth it. I sincerely hope no one has to endure the trauma or go through the ungodly amount of pain that I'm experiencing. read more

MY ADVICE!! STAY AWAY!! I was told business sold and now is First Coast Dental Center. I have tried to contact D&A for 5 months for refund of $12,000.00 for veneers. My dentist abandoned me and company after two visits. There are currently only two dentists and one is Dr Steven Strout and he only works two days. He owns three other practices. I have been unable to get past Isabella at front desk. She refuses to route call to owners, managers or insurance adjusters and now I'm going through the same thing with her and new company. I've been told I have to contact the deceased owner estate to receive my refund because new owner don't keep old records or transactions. I believe that's illegal. I received my medical records and they are inaccurate and missing important notes. Please tell everyone and post everywhere of this experience and of the name change. . There is deceptive practice and unethical issues. . This company and Dentist needs to be reprimanded.. If you don't answer their call when they are confirming appointment, don't show up at office because they have already canceled you. Front office staff are always so nice and helpful. Treatment coordinator help you understand the course of treatment. Marlena the hygienist is absolutely wonderful! Very careful and caring with her cleanings and sensitive teeth/gums. Dr. Cortes is very good with implants. I've had one and in the second stage of my second one. He is too, very gentle and quick to get the job done. Truly cares about his patient's and takes the time to talk which makes it more personable. Definitely recommend this office to anyone who needs gentle dentistry. read more

Currently mask optional due to COVID guidelines. I went in last week for two fillings and advised my tech how nervous and hungry I was due to a busy morning. I have to wear my new dentures for 2 weeks before they will "schedule " me for an appointment and then wait weeks for that appointment all while crying each time I put them in. The dentist told me that I had to wear them for two weeks that way he could see where the sores are in my mouth and then fix my dentures. I have many more bad comments like this but have never shared them but this is the straw that broke the camel's back! Unless you are getting implants, that cost upwards of 35k, I would not recommend this place to my enemy. read more

Had another runaround today after going to my appointment thinking that I would get a fitting for my implant, I was told again that I would get another call that I didn't get the first time from previous appointment. I read so many reviews that this dentist is not the same after the death of DR David. If I don't don't get the call that I was promised within 1 week, I have to go somewhere else. This place is a factory and all they want are quick and easy patients not the difficult cases. Do not come here if you have a difficult case, you will not be treated with care or compassion. Long story short I was suppose to be having my surgery to have the top and bottom implants done requiring removing the rest of my teeth today. Friday I get a certified letter from the office, they are cancelling the procedure because they don't feel I am the best candidate and they want the best outcome. All fair points but should have been brought way before 5 days before surgery. I had already taken off work per instructed, made paid arrangements for help. So I'm out that money. That's not what makes me mad they knew my case, they knew it was difficult, but they agreed to do it anyways except to back out anyways. I have had a consultation.. everyone was so amazing. I'm in stage five kidney failure so I can't go on with the transplant till my dental is done..it's just one of many steps but the dental is the last thing so I can be called active in the kidney transplant list...so I felt like I was in the safest hands as they knew my situation. Don't waste your money. Paid $7,000.00 for dentures that never fit correctly. Went back two times to have them fitted, each time the problem was never fixed. Went in today to have them looked at again... was told we'd have to pay $372.00 for an alignment on teeth that never fit I the first place. I was surprised to see low rankings on Yelp for this practice! I had a wonderful visit today as a new patient. The only downside was one of the machines was loading slowly, so we skipped one X-ray and moved onto the next. My initial technician was friendly and had great techniques for painless xrays. My dentist was equally friendly--he took time to explain what he could see with my xrays and gave advice for future correction. Even the woman working at the checkout was lovely. Look, when people have a bad experience they often jump to complain. Based on the full waiting room and happy clientele...the rating now might be more a reflection of the minority of disgruntled patients than the majority of satisfied customers. You be the judge.
