Dr. DeAinza is an absolutely excellent dentist in all respects. He is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, explains very well the procedures and options, and very patient. He has been my dentist for more than a decade, and he and his staff are all very professional, competent, pleasant and always helpful. Several times, including very recently, I had to get in for an emergency and each time he accommodated me with a very early or over the lunch hour appointment ... and each time he resolved the issue (fixed a broken tooth, relieved tooth or gum pain, etc). I've been coming to Dr. DeAinza since 2014 and I would highly recommend him to others. He is knowledgeable, thorough, polite, and always explains in simple terms what is going on with my teeth and how best to address a treatment plan. The practice is small and there seems to be low turnover, most of the folks have been there for the entire time I've been going there, which I take to mean he also treats his employees well, too. Going to the dentist is basically the equivalent of torture for me, but Dr. DeAinza has a calming presence that makes it a less traumatic experience. It's hard to know how to pick a dentist sometimes - I picked him initially simply based on distance from my work. But really glad I did. read more

Impossible to schedule basic cleanings within 6 months even as an established patient. If you cannot reply to their reminder phone call, they give away that appointment you waited 6 months for. They should hire more hygienists or not take new patients to maintain an appropriate level of care for established patients. read more

I've seen a lot of dentists in my life, and it's easy for me to say that Dr. DeAinza is the absolute best! So here's why: It starts with his demeanor, which is beyond calm. I'm sure he can and has soothed the most intense of anxious patients. But it goes beyond his even-tempered, cool and collected approach. By the way he takes his time in addressing every. single. question.--extremely articulately--you're instantly aware that he knows his stuff, and he's happy to fill you in and bring you up to speed. My two front teeth were chipped in a running accident when I was a child. My teeth are relatively large, and the chips didn't seem to interrupt my smile too much, so I left it that way. For over 40 years. Every dentist I ever had since the accident tried to get me to fix the chips, but I never trusted any of them. I feared they'd make the situation worse. Enter Dr. DeAinza. I've been seeing him for at least a couple years, and he's also offered to fix the chips. I refused. And then I realized that, if I didn't let him and his obvious ability fix my teeth, they would never be fixed. Of course, I had a thousand questions, and he answered every last one of them, which actually took a back-and-forth of several days. I'm happy to report that I did finally take the plunge. I tell you, the studied skill and precision he brought to the moment impressed me immensely, even in the moment with my mouth wide open for over an hour. Needless to say, my teeth look fantastic! I couldn't be happier with them! I would be extremely remiss if I didn't also comment on Dr. DeAinza's staff. His assistant, Wendy, is likewise incredibly skilled. She works with grace that mirrors and feeds his actions. She anticipates the next moves of any procedure and, moving with fluidity, she is the definition of prepared. Beyond ready. Beyond capable. Her infectious smile and similar calm demeanor also truly help to allay any anxious moment. Dana, the hygienist, is absolutely top-notch. She too brings a serene touch that is what the profession requires. She listens to any and all concerns and addresses them with obvious experience and expertise. She also introduced to the practice a means of numbing prior to certain procedures that nullifies the need for needles. I am very happy with her work. And last but not least, there's Paulette, the office manager. Fuggetaboutit, they don't come any better! She's not only a friendly, attentive voice on the phone and smile when you enter, as evidenced by the smooth-running operation, she's an accomplished administrator. But again, the matter goes deeper. Paulette is a former dental assistant. So she's able to explain procedures and describe processes in a manner I dare you to find anywhere else. I could go on. This is simply the best dental office with the best staff I've ever come across. And I'm truly grateful I have. read more

I absolutely had a great experience working with the dental team at the City View Dental: Dr. De Ainza office. They were prompt, accommodating, and really easy to talk to from my first visit all the way through. The staff was friendly and upbeat- always which I loved! Not only did they make me feel comfortable right off of the bat but being so professional made it clear that this is an expert group who knows what's up when it comes to dentistry care;) The office has lovely natural light coming in from big city view windows as well as small touches like decor for a welcoming environment with calming effects throughout - it felt cozy (and clean!) I felt safe during my appointment because they have individual air filters for each patient room--a major bonus! Their staff is so professional that you can tell it's not just about business; what truly matters to them are making sure patients enjoy themselves while getting quality treatments from knowledgeable people who care deeply about their health. I went to Dr. DeAinza after having had several dentists that either wouldn't listen to my concerns or tried to sell me a bunch of stuff and he was absolutely great. I have been going to him for around 9 yrs. I originally saw him because his office was close to where I worked but I haven't worked in Portland for 8 yrs, I live in Washington, and I deal with traffic and parking because he is just that good. My husband who has a deep dread of most dentists loves him too. I really just can't say enough good things about him. I tried going to someone closer to where I lived once and then I went right back. The office is very well-run, and the staff is friendly and professional, and will really work with you to keep your teeth healthy. Just don't try to make an appointment on a Friday! I have been going to Dr. De Ainza for about 5 years. He and his staff are the kindest and most professional dental office I have ever been in. Not to mention the fact that the view from the dental chair is phenomenal and will keep your mind off of what is happening inside your mouth.
