My cosmetic dentistry needs were becoming a little involved so I had a consult at Bling and have been going there ever since. Dr. Amanda and Sam are very kind, personable, and professional. They are very skilled with cleaning, local anesthetics, and did an amazing job with my cosmetic dental work. I have also found rescheduling, and scheduling in general, to be much easier with this practice than others I've gone to. Bling Dental is amazing! I'm consistently impressed with their service and care. I've always hated going to the dentist--it gives me major anxiety--but every time I have an appointment here, I leave wondering why I was ever worried in the first place. Bling is hands down the best dentist in Portland--and I can confidently say that after trying two others over the past eight years. Melissa is the best dental hygienist I've ever had: gentle, efficient, and so kind. The office itself is beautiful and calming, with TVs mounted on the ceiling so you can watch your favorite show during your cleaning. I watched Modern Family today, and Melissa didn't even mind when I laughed mid-cleaning! The front desk staff is equally wonderful--friendly, quick to answer the phone, and always helpful. I love that I can also text them, which came in handy when I needed to update my insurance recently--they responded right away. Almost 12 YEARS AGO, Dr Katie told me that I needed a $1200 crown in a tooth that I wasn't having any issue with except that it had a good sized filling in it. Present day, I still have that tooth and the 8-9 other dentists I've seen since have NEVER recommended any crowns. I love Bling Dental. Wonderful care team -- both the hygienists and doctors. I love coming here. You feel very comfortable-- there are TVs on the ceiling you can watch while they work on your teeth. I've only been for routine cleanings, so I can't speak about other procedures but they've been informational, friendly and quick. They have also do a great job about making the place feel welcoming and cute and less sterile/hospital-y. My recent visit was in December and they had holiday decorations and the staff wore holiday sweaters! Will absolutely keep coming here for future dental care. read more

Like too many others, I have pretty severe anxiety at the dentist. Bad experiences with poor pain management and bedside manner as a child and teenager traumatized me. So I often go too long between visits. But this week a broken tooth forced me to come in and Bling went out of their way to help me. They squeezed me in on short notice and took care of it in a single visit (while another place said it would take 10 days to two weeks). No one talked down to me or shamed me (a first). They took my anxiety seriously and before I knew it I was on a gentle anxiolytic, under a cozy blanket, watching Blue Planet while they worked on my tooth. I have never had such a pleasant experience at the dentist. I'm actually looking forward to my next visits because I know I'll get the dental work I need to get done without the pain and trauma. Strap in, it's a long one.* (*This review is now being transferred to all of Bling Dental's social platforms, as they paid/manipulated my review in order to remove it from Google.) I went to bling dental after seeing they had great reviews, but I grew increasingly uncertain with each visit. By the time I went back for my third adjustment for the new fillings they'd put in (at this point, I've had about EIGHT appointments with them in one month!), I was convinced that I wanted to send my records to another dentist; at that point, I just wanted to ensure my bite and tooth sensitivity concerns (which were more than normal post-dental pain) would be addressed by the staff at Bling that day (as I was headed on vacation the next). So- just when I was going to finish this round of services with Bling (without leaving a review), my very last visit there validated that it's worth sharing about my experience. I want to preface by saying the majority of the staff I encountered seemed professional and nice. But you know what they say about one bad apple...unfortunately, the receptionist I encountered at my final appointment (happy to share details of this staff member should anyone take this review seriously) was purposefully cold and barely acknowledged me from beginning to end. It's funny when staff (or people in general) think they can get away with something because they believe no one else will notice, or say anything. I'm not that person. She didn't even look up when she greeted me, making me feel as though she was perturbed to have to squeeze me in again? I guess she didn't care to think about how I, the patient, might feel for having to come back for MULTIPLE adjustments (and still came in with a smile under my mask)....after several other appointments that I've already had to schedule around work (thank God I have an understanding job). When she told them I was there, I faintly heard them say back it would be some amount of minutes (I couldn't make it out exactly, as my headphones were on and I was seated on the farthest wall from her). Thinking she would let me know (because other receptionists have done this anytime the appointment was running behind), I was alerted and disappointed when she didn't even bother to look up (yet again) or relay the message. Funny enough, another patient was on his way out a few minutes later, to which she happily wished him a good day and thanked him for coming in. Hmmm. I decided to confirm my suspicions when I left, by making sure to say thank you to this particular receptionist directly. On my way out, I asked about the whitening kit that they'd called to say was ready - yet again, she did not look up at me but luckily, the dental assistant who'd just worked with me sprung over to the cabinet to retrieve it. The receptionist begrudgingly stated to her "I'll let them know she picked it up," to which I told her "thank you," clearly looking at her while standing near the front desk. She did not look up or respond. I then thanked the dental assistant, who said you're welcome, very genuinely. So clearly, I was being heard (as in my voice was loud enough), I just was not being acknowledged, at least by said receptionist (verify this account with your own staff, as the dental assistant was right there when the receptionist ignored me saying thank you). I wonder why the receptionist felt it acceptable to treat me that way...I have further thoughts on that, which I won't get into here. And which really isn't my burden as a patient and paying customer who trusted this establishment with my teeth, and my time (lots of it in just a few weeks!). There's nothing in me that wants to spend any more of it (or my money) there. The dentist can already be a begrudging experience as it is, and I wasn't one of those people who even dreaded going to them, before Bling; but their front desk staff made sure I felt that way about their office when it was all said and done. Update: just wanted to note that three weeks post-filling I am STILL dealing with sensitivity from where they "bruised" my tooth and have only been eating "soft" food for weeks, including my recent vacation. I for one had a great experience at Bling. Everybody from the start (insurance /appointment person) was very friendly and warm. My dental hygienist was so thorough and made me feel at ease in a way a dental hygienist never has. Even though at my age I've been to the dentist 100's of time in my life, I very rarely understand what the eff they're doing...poking around, doing gum testing, etc. It also is very comfortable with a TV overhead playing drone footage of cities, forest, the ocean. It was a good distraction. For the first appointment, they take intra-oral photos, about 15 xrays of the mouth, and they do a smile photo so the doctor can get the best visual of the quality of your teeth. Overall the appointment was about 2 hours, but I was warned ahead of time. Cleanings tend to be 30 mins-1 hr after your initial appt. Based on some of the reviews and the corporate vibe of Bling, I felt like they would pressure me into getting stuff I didn't need, but they were the opposite. For how busy they are, there wasn't any point that the dentist (I think her name was Dr. Becca) made me feel rushed in any shape or form. I scheduled my 6-month cleaning so I'll definitely be back. Oh, and custom whitening trays are included and they give you whitening stuff each time you go! When they offered it to me I was like eeeeeh...no thanks I don't wanna pay for it, then they told me it's complimentary. Awesome! read more

Front desk person was very helpful. But the dentist was very young, new yet condescening as if older and seasoned. She did not keep promises made to me and I was not happy with the sanitary conditions for example the tablet they wanted me to finger-sign was covered in filth as if it had been oversprayed all day and then touched by a bunch of other patients. read more

First visit they insisted on more x-rays that were sent to them from my previous dentist but did not meet their quality required (added cost) then they up-sold on a deep cleaning stating that I had beginning of periodontal disease. Added some other services all outside of my insurance plan standard coverage. I have had routine care consistently every 3 to 6 months for the past 35 years and was never told that I had periodontal disease. On my follow-up appointment when I asked to do routine care they refused and said that I should find a different dentist. I will never go back and will look for another dentist and will never recommend Bling to anyone that I interact with. read more

I have been going to Bling Dental ever since I moved to Portland at the end of 2018 and can't see myself going anywhere else. They are doing dentistry right! The offices are located conveniently in the Pearl, parking is easy to find most times of the day, the offices are extremely aesthetically pleasing compared to most traditional dentist offices - including newest tech (bye bye heavy and bulky x-ray photo machines)! I love my hygienist (shoutout to Jordan) and Dr. Jacqueline, who are both super friendly, accommodating and patient with me. While most dentists would likely either turn me down or refuse to help with my unique requests and situations, Dr. Jacqueline sculpted my canines back for me and was also willing to take the time out of her busy day to adjust my old night guard for me. I truly appreciate everyone at Bling Dental, I highly recommend them to both newcomers and long-standing residents alike! read more

Bling Dental is the only dentist I'll go to. Their office is bright and clean, and you always get your own room which is a huge bonus. The rooms have TV's, which makes for a nice distraction if being at the dentist makes you a little nervous. The team is professional and I always feel taken care of. Whenever a friend tells me about needing a new dentist, I can't recommend Bling enough. During COVID they have added additional safety precautions, like taking your temperature. A hygienist comes to the door to meet you outside, and takes you directly to your room. They definitely have a process that made me feel safe! read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience here this morning (surprising for a dentist visit). The front staff was polite, I got in to my appointment right away, and was able to fill out my first time appointment paperwork on my phone prior to my appointment. The space is very clean and I got to enjoy watching tv with Bluetooth headphones while getting my cleaning! Kristin (or Kristi) was so kind and a great communicator. I chipped my tooth on Sunday and had an important meeting on Tuesday. Dr. Bre went above and beyond to squeeze me in on Monday morning and make sure I didn't have a snaggletooth when I met the CEO. I've never written a glowing recommendation for a dental office before, but I feel Bling deserves all the praise. I have a phobia of the dentist and terrible anxiety in general. The hygienists and Dr. Amanda go above and beyond to consistently check in and make me feel comfortable throughout my appointments. You hate the dentist right? You cringe when you hear that drill. Your stomach leaps when the hygienist scrapes that concrete stuff off your teeth (and you wonder, when did I eat concrete?). You know who you are - and this review is for YOU: First, all the staff is friendly, personable, and will get to know you (and they remember you too). Next, you sit in the [dreaded] chair, look up, and there's a movie playing on an HD TV on the ceiling. Who thought of THAT? Massage chair - oh heck yeah. Then, you're treated like, well, like YOU matter. Oh, and that sand you end up eating for about a week after a cleaning...not there. I had to get a sealant replaced on a tooth. No anesthesia, he uses "air". I'm thinking, my hair will likely fly right off my scalp from pain, but no. 30 seconds after he started, he was done. I was like, "um, when do we start?" No, we're done. Easy peasy. Then there's the Icing whitening... if you've ever tried to whiten your teeth, and end up with tooth sensitivity akin to a hot poker in your eye - this is the whitening for you. Follow the directions = NO sensitivity. YEE HAA! Every time I go in to Bling, I'm greeted with a smile. They remember me. My experience with Bling Dental is as an online customer. The physical office of Dr. Raymond Frye, DMD, is located in Portland, Oregon. In October of this year (2011) he offered an unbeatable deal for an ultrasonic toothbrush on Living Social. That deal got me a rechargeable toothbrush with 3 brushes, and the recharging station with UV chamber that sterilizes my brush(es) each time. I am sorry to see that his online site prices have gone so much higher than what I paid. I have been using it for about 3 months now. So, what do I like? Everything. The unit itself is very attractive. The toothbrush portion is easily removable/exchangeable and mounts on a rechargeable handle that fits nicely in my hand. The brush itself is small. This enables me to more easily reach to the back where I have typically had more difficulty cleaning my teeth. I am looking forward to my next dental cleaning to see if my hygienist notices any difference. I have noticed a significant difference in the feel of my teeth. When I glide over them with my tongue, I no longer feel the build up on my teeth. They feel as clean as when my dental hygienist does her cleaning. I am also noticing a gradual whitening taking place. I know the good doctor also offers a whitening product, however I have not tried it. I like the idea of the UV chamber for sanitizing the brush after each brushing. No doubt, with all the bacteria typically in the mouth, I would probably get grossed out to see the petri dish results. There is room in the UV chamber for a total of 4 brushes, which I am assuming means a whole family of 4 can share the same unit. I wouldn't.. The toothbrush has three different settings, but I usually use the high setting. There is also a gentler frequency and one that pulses that I am assuming is for gums. It is also quieter than my old toothbrush. I also appreciate the little pause at the end of each 30 second interval, to let you know to move on to another surface. While some of these features are like my old toothbrush, a Phillips Ultrasonic, which has been a dependable workhorse for many years, I do notice a significant difference in the overall feel of my teeth since switching over. What a find! Our dental insurance changed and we had to find a new dentist. Before formally changing to Bling, I woke up one morning with a toothache. I called Bling and they were able to squeeze me in that day! I received a thorough exam and X-rays and we narrowed the problem down. I was scheduled for cleaning and a filling in the problematic tooth. Dr. Bre was an excellent listener and extremely devoted to helping me fix my problem. All this and I was a new person to the practice! Since then, I've had an excellent cleaning with a delightful hygienist. Everyone who works there is so patient focused! The office is beautiful and parking is easy to find within a block of their office. (It's right across the street from Safeway on NW Lovejoy in the Pearl). I was a little concerned when I first looked at their website that this practice was awfully chic and maybe it would be a bit awkward for me to be there. I'm not very glam as a rule. However my fears were immediately vanquished when I was welcomed so warmly from everyone there. No pressures to sell me any other services either. They are there if I want them, and I may explore cosmetic options in the future but that is just one facet of their practice. I've also never been to a dental office that has flat screen TV's on the ceilings. I caught two episodes of the Great British Baking Show on my last two appointments! Everyone and everything at Bling is first class and provides an excellent experience. read more
