Just wanted to do teeth cleaning. Very nice doctor came for several seconds looked in my mouth and called it Comprehensive Oral exam, charged me $185!!! Mediocre teeth cleaning - she cleaned mostly frontal teeth, not cleaning between the teeth, flossing - just putting the floss in between the teeth and removing it the same second - it's not the proper way to floss. Overall the cost for that service $343 (including $7 for appt compliance barriers??) it was unprofessional, as if i just brushed my teeth at home. read more

Although I believe he is a good dentist, after trying to charge my wife for a mix-up in appointments (not a no-show and unsure of who was at fault) his office manager accused her of doing this repeatedly-patently not so. Instead of diffusing the situation he said he would have to look into it, in effect calling her a liar after many years of seeing us as patients. I wrote a letter explaining our point of view. He never called to say he looked into it nor apologize. Even after I requested our records to change dentists he didn't call. I am stunned at his arrogance and lack of concern for patients of many years, self paying patients at that. I didn't mention that he kept her waiting 40+ minutes for a less than 2 minute quick examination after her cleaning. read more

Would not recommend. Traumatizing experience here. Dr. Schlactus may be very nice but his office has terrible practices which have resulted in terrible damage. The hygienist, Kristy used the ultrasonic scaler without telling or asking me, which should not have been done. The ultrasonic scaler hurt like hell and I related this to Kristy but she disregarded me. The dentist then examined my teeth and it was concluded that the scaler harmed the nerves in my teeth and jaw. Despite medications and rinses, I was in horrible, constant pain for 6 months. Significant time later and I am still getting pain when eating hot or cold foods. I never had a problem with my teeth before this. He said they use this because it saves the hygienists' time (which is clearly more important than patient's health). She also did not check my chart before the exam which showed I was due for x-rays. So that wasn't done. At each appointment, I found Kristy, the hygienist to be rude, aggressive and insensitive. The receptionist, Denise has the worst attitude. On one of my visits, I called on my way to notify them that I was going to be a little late because I just had major surgery, was on crutches, and therefore was having severe mobility issues. When I walked in the door, the first thing Denise said (yelled) was "YOU'RE LATE!" No "Hi", "Good Morning," or "let me help you with the door." When I left, she didn't even bother opening the door for me, she just watched me struggle to open it myself to leave. They also play pop music really loud throughout the office, which they will not lower during your visit, no matter how nice you ask, which makes it difficult to relax. Yes, Dr. Schlactus is kind but he is the one responsible for overseeing a poorly trained staff with very harmful practices. I remain still in pain and hope one day it will heal. I went back to my original dentist who is far away but he and the entire staff there are so amazing and kind. read more

Great dentist and great hygienist. As others have said, Dr. Schlactus is friendly and personable and is good at what he does. He is happy to answer any questions you may have and is very knowledgeable. Even the hygienist is very friendly and does a great job with the cleaning. There is one hygienist that uses the baking soda spray method to clean if that is something you are interested in. There is plenty of parking on street, lot, or garage and the office is located in a small building so easy in and out. In terms of front office staff, they have recently changed and are very nice and easy to work with. Once you visit schlactus your search for a good dentist will be over. read more

I don't see any Covid reviews, so I feel compelled to leave one. I felt completely comfortable at this office, and I follow the science and news on this virus closely. I was put at ease as soon as I walk through the front door. First, I had to call from outside, and they checked if they were ready for me. They leave enough time in-between patients for the air to be exchanged and cleaned. More on that in a minute. Then, I walked up the stairs, however I could have taken the elevator. The building upgraded all their HVAC systems to put in a high-grade filter, and UV cleansing. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a dental assistant in a face shield and two masks. She asked some questions, took my temperature and had me sanitize my hands. Very friendly and professional. Then, they took me right back. There is no waiting in the waiting room. The room was sanitized between each patient, according to the assistant, and the chair was still clearly wet from the sanitation process. In each room, aside from the upgraded filters for the building, they put in a medical grade air cleanser, to turn the air over and clean even further. I sat in the chair, they had me gargle with hydrogen peroxide for a full minute, and gave me a sanitized pair of safety goggles protect my eyes. (Remember, you have mucous membranes in your mouth nose and eyes, which can be infected by virus). Then Dr. Schlactus came in, also wearing two masks and a full face shield and gloves. He worked quickly and efficiently, while still being friendly and chatty. I had two veneers put over exposed roots, and I was in and out in a half hour total. No pain or discomfort at all. If you are looking for a dentist during these trying times, strongly consider this office. I was completely comfortable, and I'm one of the people following guidelines extremely closely. Of course, not for myself, to protect others. I'm healthy. This was not paid, I'm just some dude that went to a dentist, and you can trust that I paid close and careful attention. They care and it 100% shows. read more

Dr. Schlactus is a licensed general dentist and is good at routine care. He is not an endodontist, periodontist or an oral surgeon. Last spring he did a root canal on my wife. He couldn't find one of the roots, and did a poor procedure on the other roots. Ten thousand dollars later, seeing dental specialists and still an implant is needed. I agree: the front office staff are the staff from hell. The first time I went in, I called to say I thought I'd broken a tooth. The receptionist told me over the phone that she was sure it wasn't broken, but that I probably had a piece of food stuck between my teeth, and so it FELT cracked. She told me to try flossing my teeth. I said that I was pretty sure it was broken. (Yes, tit turned out that the tooth was broken, almost split into two pieces.) So I went in. After spending an hour and a half dealing with insurance questions at the front desk (because the staff were to busy to call my insurance company themselves), I finally got in to see Dr. Saddique, Dr. Schlactus's partner at the time, because Dr. Schlactus was too busy. Okay, that was fine, except the cap that Dr. Saddique eventually put over my broken tooth was a totally different color than the rest of my teeth, so that when I met Dr. Schlactus later, he remarked on it, and suggested replacing it. The actual dental technicians are great, and Dr. Schlactus himself is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, thorough, clear, caring, effective, and kind -- but he is very very busy. I could deal with his prohibitive busyness more easily if the front desk staff weren't so rude. One morning I had the flu, and was too sick and feverish to get out of bed to get to my appointment at noon. I called in to say I was sick and couldn't make the appointment, and the receptionist said "You should come in anyway. Everyone here wears gloves, so we don't mind if you're sick." I said I was sorry, but that I couldn't even sit up, and couldn't come in. She seemed to feel personally insulted that I was cancelling my precious-as-gold appointment just because I had the flu, and a 102 degree fever. read more

His office is up to date, service is not cheap - but not outrageous and in his case you actually get a real professional, who cares about the quality of his work not some overpriced prima donna. He has done all of my work over the last year and is the best dentist I have found in about 15 years. They do accept and work with some insurances. read more

Dr. Schlactus is very nice. I didn't see much of him during my time as a patient; I would either see him very briefly at the end of the appointment or an associate. All the dental hygienists are very friendly and nice, I never had an issues. However, the front desk staff could be a lot better. I chipped a tooth at work and came in on an emergency basis to get it fixed. I offered my workman's comp insurance (since it was covered) but they insisted that I had to pay upfront. Sure, no problem. Turns out the insurance company did pay them, they kept that money too and never notified me. They just put it on my account for next visit. I didn't find out till I came in a for my general cleaning, they then informed me there was a credit on my account. It just put a really bad taste in my mouth and I felt like they weren't very honest. I've decided to see another dentist who I'm very happy with. read more

He ruined 2 good teeth to make a bridge that didn't last 6 weeks. It fell out and after he recemented it twice, he said I should get dental implants because they are more permanent. Except now I need 3 implants instead of 1 because he drilled down the 2 good teeth. Not to mention $800.00 for a bridge that didn't stay put. I never went back. I did eventually have to get 3 implants to replace the bridge, but not from him. read more

Dr Schlactus himself is fine..but he seems to always be fairly busy, and being a newer patient I didn't really ever feel like I was getting a ton of personalized care. The dental assistants I've seen have all been great-very nice and personable. His front desk staff are THE WORST. Basically every time I've needed to talk to someone they've been rude, impatient, unwilling to work with me, and overall just very bitchy. Our entire family--including kids--have been going to Dr. Schlactus for more than a decade. He was good with my young kids (as young as 4 or 5) as well, so we stopped using a pediatric dentist. He is great--thoughtful, nice, and very competent. He , listens to the patient, and doesn't encourage unnecessary procedures. On the rare occasion that I have had a problem he was not comfortable treating himself (possible cracked root) he appropriately referred me to a specialist. Staff is all very nice too. read more
