Dr. Bekhit (sp?) and his staff provided amazing quality care to me to resolve some work I needed. The front office is super helpful and efficient. They have a great system for texting and calling to remind you of your appointments. The hygenist, assistants, and the Doc himself all provided very respectful and quality care to me over the course of a few appointments. Dr. Bekhit is super friendly, knowledgeable, and proficient. He was very patient with my questions and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the process. He is thorough and made sure my bite was perfect when I left the office. This practice does some weird/questionable things. I waited a little for my appointment on one day. Another day my husband went in (both new patients) and he was made to wait after his appointment time. When he asked the front desk what was going on they made up some sort of story about an "emergency". He then let them know, well why didn't you call me to tell me to come later? Didn't really get an explanation as to why. The reaction tells me they never have people call them out on running behind. Finally my husband goes back, Brock asks how his day is, my husband responds with not great I've been made to wait. He wasn't belligerent or rude, but matter of fact. He said Brock and hygienist just sat there uncomfortably stunned, don't really say much. Mind you he's a new patient, so never mind having any customer service skills to want to make this a better experience for him. Next day we get a call from the office that Dr Brock doesn't feel comfortable treating either of us. I had nothing to do with the interaction between my husband and dentist, but I guess I must be punished too. I'm really glad they kicked us out of the practice. We went to another in-network dentist down the street (Brock was in-network for us too). Low and behold, the EXACT SAME WORK is significantly cheaper than what Brock was trying to charge us. I have always been accommodated and never made to feel I am high maintenance (as another unnamed Monterey dentist did). I have a spiffy new crown and it was attached with minimal pain and fuss. I have been to good and bad dentists and this one is pretty bad. I was referred here by a co-worker and saw Dr. Brock a few times. I came in for 2 routine fillings to be done. Dr. Brock couldn't seem to get me numb and I felt a sharp unusual pain after one of the shots. I cringed and almost asked him to stop because I could feel that something wasn't right. He began to continue my filling when I noticed I couldn't close my left eye. I kept trying to close both of my eyes but couldn't!!! I asked him to stop and let him know that I could not feel nor move the entire left side of my face! He looked panicked and then blamed me by saying I was his, "once a year patient that this happened to." My face looked like I had a stroke. I couldn't cry, close my eye, or smile. We were halfway done with the fillings and I could still feel most of the painful drilling. I didn't say anything because I was too scared to receive more anesthesia and sucked it up so that I could run out of there. To this day, the fillings that were done, were not completed correctly and still do not feel right. I will never be back. The office may look nice, but do not be fooled. read more

By far one of the worst dental experience I've had! Upon walking up to the entrance you can hear each dental patient's appointment going on (windows open) and conversations/children crying. Mind you this was my first (and last) visit to this location so my expectations were already dropping significantly. The receptionist had no idea how to file or handout the necessary paperwork needed to get me in the system. I even showed up 20 minutes in advance to prepare for this scenario and still managed to have to wait until after the scheduled appointment time to be seen. The hygienist was very rude during my entire x-ray and cleaning process and after informing her about moving in the next couple of months, she seemed even more aggressive and unfriendly for the duration of my time in the chair. Because I wont be a long term patient that gives you the right? It wasn't until after the cleaning that I was "introduced" to David Brock, who hardly even acknowledged my presence. He informed me of the event where if I did need a root canal, I would have to wait a 1 1/2 months to first receive a filling, and if that didn't work a root canal would be needed. He followed that with the "possibility of getting a root canal on a friday, and if it bleeds out the next day you would have to wait until Monday before seeing anyone." First of all, why would you even tell someone that when you're not even certain if your patient needs a root canal... And second of all, 1 1/2 months before getting a filling done on a tooth that clearly is in pain and needs the attention sooner?... Obviously my experience didn't end there. The same lady who didn't understand how to process my insurance still couldn't figure out how to obtain my information for the third time (after she had made a copy of my card) I would receive "Unknown" calls at unnecessary hours by multiple receptionists each telling me something different. You'd think they would at least get caller I.D for the office and have one person communicating with the patient so there wouldn't be a mixup in communications. After requesting that my x-rays (that I paid for) be transferred to an alternative dental office, all they sent was an itty bitty notecard size copy... Never again. read more

New to the area, I picked this dentist out of the proverbial hat. The reception/hygienist staff were very friendly and the oral care was comfortable and careful. They alone deserve 3-4 stars. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Brock was the reason for the reduced rating. I will say that he is also friendly and gentle in the dental care dept. Unfortunately, in my experience, that's where the positive experience ends. I had a shallow cavity drilled & filled with surprisingly little discomfort. The tooth, however, continued to bother me whenever I was chewing with it ever after. I called and had a follow-up during which an inspection and X-ray revealed nothing unusual. I was grateful to have neither a copay nor get billed for that visit. Then he instructed me to take some ibuprofen, see you in 6 months. Upon my next (6month) visit I complained of the same problem to the hygienist. Eating on one side of my mouth was not a lifestyle I was eager to accept. She dutifully took notes for Dr Brock because he was absent for my dental cleaning and he could see me the next day. I'm not accustomed to having regular cleanings without a dental exam, nor having to schedule extra time off work to do so. The next day he apparently didn't bother to review my file because he asked, "so, tooth sensitive to cold?" and immediately dove into my mouth without explaining what steps he was considering taking to problem-solve. I value being informed about what the dentist is thinking and doing. Before I could ask (mouth full of instruments) he had a drill in my mouth. I assumed he was grinding down my filling but he never stated what he was doing. At the end of this he said that if it's still sensitive "I don't know what to tell ya, man." Not exactly comforting "bed-side manner". He said I must just have a sensitive tooth. I explained that I've had several cavities/fillings over the years yet never before did that equate to putting each of those teeth out commission---permanently. Nonetheless, it was apparently my "sensitive" tooth and not an issue with the filling (nor his craftsmanship). He said that 2% of his patients have sensitive teeth and that if everyone did, he would be out of business. Perhaps I was supposed to have my heart-strings tugged by the economics of the situation. Either way he was done and out of the room. The degree on the wall was evidence of a Harvard dental school credential but that was no consolation. He was the best dentist I ever had: knowledgeable, an excellent teacher, skilled, kind, patient, and pretty much painless!. Went to Dr. Brock's Monterey office for several years - by far the best dental experience I've had to this date. Rebecca at the front desk was always organized and friendly. The dental hygienists that give you cleanings are professional and do a great job. I always got the feeling here like the staff was being honest with me, but at the same time being sensitive to my fear of people poking around in my mouth. Here is I have a great story to tell. I was looking for a new dentist and went to a doctor in Santa Cruz. She found four (!) caries in my teeth. I was shocked. I don't have a dental insurance and was facing a thousand dollar bill, minimum. Since I work in Monterey, I decided to deal with my caries there and went to Dr. Brock's office. Much to my astonishment, he found nothing wrong with my teeth! I was stunned. He explained that some coffee/tea discoloration might, in fact, look like caries and some inexperienced doctors wouldn't make a difference. I couldn't believe my ears. Besides saving me a lot of money, Dr. Brock saved my healthy teeth! I had no idea that the second opinion matters so much at times. Just went there after a horrible experience at another office and 3 years (because I was skeptical). But the office was clean and well taken care of. The staff along with the Dr. Himself was very friendly and amazing because they were all welcoming and just made you feel like they were genuinely glad that you chose their office. I had to bring my youngest (almost one year old daughter) and Dr. Brock's wife (Rebecca) took care of her the complete hr I was in their and even had her sleeping!!! She also have her a teething banana toothbrush was just the cherry on top! Obviously, I didn't expect this and told them before my appointment if my daughter is too much, I will gladly leave and reschedule. Very apologetic but they were having none of it---they were soooooo sweet! The cleaning went beautifully and took their time! I believe her name was Lauren---she was super sweet and thorough! First and foremost, I am afraid of dentist. So, it takes a special Dentist to gain my trust and Dr. Brock has not only earned it but he has totally overhauled my smile and appearance. If I showed you a before and after picture of my smile, you'd be truly amazed. My oral health and appearance are where they should be. Dr. Brock had a vision of what he could do and it took us about three years and 20 appointments but I am just about done. 20 appointments should tell you how bad my oral health and appearance was--I never liked to smile. Along the way, because of my visual progress seven of my co-workers have become his patients--we are all satisfied. In addition to his vision and abilities, his staff is 5-star, pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. I have read some write-ups here and if your on Yelp, you know there are always a few people who complain just to complain so don't buy it. You will note most patients give this professional and his staff a 5 for a reason--because they are damn good!!! So as a 59 year old man who feared dentist all his life he has restored my mouth, my confidence improved and I like smiling again! Horrible dentist! He seems to hate doing dentistry, and I feel like I just have a $$$ sign on my forehead every time I go in. He causes pain during dental work, even fillings. He did a crown which he pronounced "good as new," but I ended up having to get the tooth pulled a few months later because of "a bad crown" according to the oral surgeon who had to pull the rotten tooth which Brock supposedly fixed. I had to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for the crown, then hundreds more to have it pulled, and will have to pay thousands more now to get an implant and new crown over the implant post. Forget about getting in soon if you have a true emergency and pain. Save yourself a nightmare and don't even consider going here, no matter how nice they seem on the phone. read more

I was tired of my upper conventional denture and was looking for an alternative. I chose Dr. Brock for an implant retain permanent denture and was glad that I chose Dr. Brock for my procedure! His office is very well run, I never experienced a wait because they were backed up like many of the other dentists that I've used. The office staff is friendly and I was always greeted like a friend, instead of a patient. Dr. Brock is very knowledgeable and answered every question and concern that I had. The work that he did along with the person that made the appliance were both top notch. I had put off going to the dentist for over 5 years due to terrible dental experiences with rough, unprofessional dentists, and my teeth were in horrible shape as a result of my lack of dental care. I was in desperate need of a dental checkup and a friend recommended me to Dr. Brock. I went on Yelp, read his reviews, checked out his website and decided to make the call to set up an appointment! Now, as a new patient of Dr. Brock's, I can say that I have never felt so comfortable being at the dentist as it was something that I absolutely dreaded before. His front office staff, hygienists, and dental assistant, along with Dr. Brock himself are WONDERFUL! His hygeniest Lauren was very sweet and kind. She was so thorough with my teeth cleaning and explained how important it was to floss my teeth every night. I knew I need a lot of work done on my teeth and was a bit embarrassed about it but when Dr. Brock came to look at my X-Rays he never once made me feel bad about my poor dental care and immediately began setting up a treatment plan. He is truly the nicest dentist I have ever been to! I was completely impressed about how calm and relaxed I felt throughout the entire appointment. They were able to set up my next appointment for fillings for a week and a half later and today I had those fillings done on two big cavities. Dr. Brock had prescribed me Valiums to take before the appointment because of how anxious I get before dental procedures which made me relaxed the whole time, and I even dozed off for a bit. He used plenty of anesthetic so I couldn't feel a thing. I could not believe how pain free the procedure was. They even took a little break in between fillings so I could take a breather. It was a two hour appointment that felt like one. Once again, Dr. Brock and his entire staff make up an AMAZING dental office and I would highly recommend him to anyone who has had a miserable dental experiences in the past. I highly recommend Dr. Brock! Not only is he a great dentist, but his front desk staff and hygienists are so wonderful, I'd probably keep coming back just because of them! Dr. Brock took me, a new patient, on short notice to take care of an emergency root canal. Upon finding out that I had no insurance, he kindly did as much work "in-house" as he could to avoid sending me to a costly specialist. I felt they did their best to ease the pain, or at least be comforting and communicative throughout the procedure. The Dr. and his assistant told me what to expect, and what to do after the procedure. I believe they took their time and did quality work, unlike previous doctors I've seen (the reason for this root canal was due to a recently placed filling that fell out). The ladies at the front desk know me by name although I've only been in a few times, and I've witnessed how they greet other patients--like old friends they haven't seen in a while. They really are genuine and kind and help ease any tension you might feel when heading to the dentist. I was only more thrilled when I found out Dr. Brock is educated through the Harvard School of Dental Medicine! What more could you ask for? read more

My first appointment they had me waiting 10 minutes to get in. Not a big deal. Most Dr. places make you wait. Second appointment. I called to let them know I had been caught up at work, and that I was going to be 10 minutes late. I missed a meeting for this appointment and was already on the road for 20 minutes. I had 10 minutes left to get there, but wanted to at least give them a courtesy call. They told me I would have to reschedule my appointment, that they wouldn't be able to leave by 5. This makes no sense, as my first appointment I didn't leave until 5:10 when they finished my cleaning. Thank you for making me miss a meeting, drive 20 miles one way, make me wait 10 minutes for my first appointment, and then cancel my appointment. I will never go here again nor would I recommend a place that is such a hypocrite and doesn't care about it's customers! I would give it zero stars if I could. read more

My husband had chipped his front tooth, and because only recently we moved to Carmel, we didn't have a dentist. I live in Los Angeles and was visiting my daughter in Monterey. During my visit I had an unexpected problem with a procedure I had done on my teeth prior to my visit. My daughter called her dentist, Dr. Brock and explained the problem and his office made a space available for me immediately. Already having a fear of dentists, I was really nervous going in regardless of how wonderful my daughter and son in law told me Dr. Brock was. The second I walked into the office, i was greeted by his wife who works with Dr.Brock. I immediately felt a sense of relief from her sincere warm welcoming. Once I met Dr. Brock and he looked at the problem, from what was suppose to be a "temporary fix" till I returned home, became a far more thorough repair. He not only took the time to fix the problem, he ended up doing a better job on the procedure than my regular dentist! Dr. Brock is awesome! Great dentist, very professional, and always does an excellent job. He's the only dentist I've ever meet that I fully trust with my teeth. He does an great job, cares about your smile, his staff are great, and he always works to get you the most cost effective solution for your teeth. I've had numerous cavities filled with him, internal bleaching on a root canalled tooth that another dentist screwed up, and two crowns. I called Dr. Brock's clinic. I called the tel # provided by my dental insurance. It was the wrong number. I googled Dr. Brock. i saw 2 good reviews. I called up 2 Mondays ago. I place a message on their voice mail because the office is closed on Mondays. There was a cordial voice mail from Dr. Brock"s telling to call back and that Dr. Brock was booked until August; I did that last Tuesday. I spoke to the receptionist. She explained to me that Dr. Brock is booked. I explained that I had to fight off the pyorrhea infection. My periodontist cleaned gums and did a bone graft of my sinus & cheek bones. I further explained that my insurance was the dental connection. The receptionist or whoever answered the phone only said Dr. Brock is booked with the current patients. Never gave me an appointment. I felt the brush off. Just a few minutes ago before I wrote these review, I searched the google. Dr. Brock has one of those companies that screens "attackers". I guess it meant bad reviews. read more
