I'm sharing my experience to warn anyone considering buying a vehicle from David Rice Motors in Schoolcraft, Michigan.I bought a Camaro from them, and the problems started the very same day. I had to drop it off at the mechanic immediately. I found out the starter was going out, the battery was bad, and after filling the tank, I lost a quarter of a tank of gas just sitting in the mechanic's parking lot -- which turned out to be a fuel pump leak.The dealership did pay for those repairs, but the car was gone for a week. When I finally got it back, the check engine light came on again -- another $200 sensor.After that, I discovered the headlights didn't work properly. They lit up, but the light only reached about three feet in front of the car, making night driving unsafe. When I told the dealership, they said they had "put enough money into this car" and only paid for half of the headlight repair.On top of that, they told me they were giving me $1,000 off the price, but when I checked the paperwork, they had actually charged me $1,000 over the price.I also kept hearing a rattling noise on startup. I finally caught it on video and took it to my mechanic -- he confirmed it's the timing chain, which is a $6,200 repair at the Chevy dealership. When I brought this concern to the dealership, they told me maybe I "need a new mechanic" and said it wasn't covered.All of this happened before I even made my first car payment. Not to mention they had it fully inspected with sticker still on the window, I think some things got overlooked. I'm writing this review so other people don't end up in the same situation. Be extremely careful buying from this dealership. Get your own inspection, double‑check the paperwork, and don't rely on their word. I wish I had known what I was walking into. read more

My son bought a car from this car lot. Upon closing the deal, my son was told that he would have to pay an increased amount for the car because he wasn't financing it. What kind of business does this to a customer. The listed price on the car didn't say anything about the fact that you must finance it or pay a higher price. I didn't find out about this until after the fact. Shame on this business for taking advantage of a younger buyer. read more

WATCH WHAT YOU BUY . I was lucky enough to notice something wrong with this 2014 Cadillac Escalade that I was really interested in and was very excited to buy from them. They said that if the issue was too expensive to fix, they would take it back to the auction or sell it to someone with a "disclosure form" telling them something is wrong with it. Then I proceeded to tell them I would like to buy the car if you could make me a deal on it, and they wouldn't budge their price NOT EVEN A PENNY . When it's a $3000 fix, just very shady business practice right there. Definitely not going to tell the next person that the car's got a $3000 problem. And when I was in the office with David and Zack because Zack was the guy I was dealing with, but he I believe is new. started off as a decent experience, talked to raymond, and was told and put in writing that we were first in line for a rav4 at $8000 before licensing and everything. when showing up after waiting a week and a half for it to show up, both of my parents test drove the vehicle and liked it, and when talking final numbers the salesmen screwed us over by bumping the price to $9,995. That is very poor sales etiquette and they were told that they would be getting a poor review based off a ridiculous experience. 1/5 stars, DO NOT recommend!! read more

I was interested in buying a vehicle they had listed for sale. After asking the salesman about rust several times and each time getting a response saying that the condition was fine or No response at all, I ordered a 3rd party inspection which came back as "Minor surface rust". After this I agreed to purchase the vehicle and have it shipped to me in NM. After some delay, the car arrived and although the body was in beautiful shape, I found severe rust causing perforation of the frame, pieces of sheet metal broken off or cracked through, nuts that are permanently fused. In addition there is a large crack in the exhaust manifold. After contacting the dealership letting them know of the situation, They said I purchased the car as is and refuse to let me return the car and refund the purchase price. I purchased the car as they told me it was, under false pretenses, which was not the reality. According to my local certified inspector/mechanic, the car is unsafe to drive and would not pass inspection or be eligible for registration due to its condition. The dealership was aware that I intended to purchase a car to drive up to my job in Alaska, a drive that is not easy on any vehicle. As a result of the car's poor condition, I was forced to search for and purchase another vehicle to take to Alaska, forcing me to postpone my departure (and my arrival up there), thereby postponing my start date for my summer job. They cost me a lot of money as well as lost income! I'd leave zero stars if I could. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! Absolutely awful experience. Mr. Rice agreed to sell me a Nissan NV200 with the verbal agreement that things that "missed" inspection would be fixed. He wrote up a contact and he took a $1700 deposit. After a few days, Mr. Rice called and said the things that I pointed out that needed fixed were now to much money to cover and he would not sell me vehicle unless I came up with another $800 on top of the agreed upon purchase price. My real concern with Mr. Rice as a person and his dealership is his ability to be trusted. His word does not mean anything! Before making a 2 hour ride out to his car lot, I inquired about this vehicle before driving out. Mr. Rice said it had been inspected and was in good shape..., ALL LIES! All the issues I found at purchase should have been caught in his "supposed inspection"??? I am not even a mechanic and I found in this this little work truck a rattle in the muffler, a severe pull in the front end (bad ball joints) and the back door lock was jammed and not working. In all reality, Mr. Rice was hoping I was another car buyer not paying attention to the quality of vehicle and this would of all been stuck on me after purchase! This vehicle supposedly has a 90 day/ 3,000 mile warranty? In the end, I did not want to deal with Mr. Rice and his auto lot. I was dealt with completely wrong as a consumer and done dirty by him. While he "thanked me" in the end of bringing these issues to his attention, I told him it wasn't my intention to drive two hours away to do the inspection of his vehicle for him and then to be told that he has "reneged on the deal" because he didn't do his due diligence in this vehicle. David uses shady business tactics. My girl and i drove from battle ceek, found a 2011 ford edge the navigation didnt work,, he said he would get it fixed. So we went got the financing, got insurance, played phone tag for a couple of weeks, and it was always its gong to ford in vicksburg for repair, then zieglar on Stadium, finally after 3 weeks of this he finally said he sold the car,,even though we had a verbal agreement from him and his helper nick, he said he sold it because their wasnt a deposit,, one was never asked for..we were told it was our car, and they wouldnt sell it from under us, money wasnt the issue, we could have payed cash for the car but we wanted my girl to establish some credit. We told nick we were putting 4,000 down, which we had in hand, in a cashiers check,, so putting down a deposit wasnt an issue..so please be careful with him, record everything david says and if possible, take an attorney with you Rob C. read more
