Problems began in 1st WEEK I think it was (I have documentation up the wazoo) I shit you not. Hopefully a fair, final outcome. I just don't feel like repeating my story for the 100th time to different employees because of: staffing issues, new hires, fired or just left employees, promotion's of staff (great for them) but I have to start reinventing the wheel because clearly they have no system to document service note, details, etc. about my vehicle. I'm willing to place a wager that my poor car has been in service for a 1/2-1/8 of the time I've OWNED it...not even 2 yrs yet.

The company blamed the victim, the towing company, suggested the tow truck driver came back and stole his belongings but refused to admit their own mistakes. After a snarky post on a local gossip page the DSM joined the page only to threaten me with legal action. But like every other promise, no corporate goons came knocking on my door. They finally offered $250 (25%) of the insurance deductible. The family had to accept this bcs work tools needed to be replaced immediately.

Just thought I'd update everyone since I posted a review a few years back. It is still a one star…read moreand has not changed, especially considering I never went back. AVOID THIS SHOP at all costs, quite literally a scummy fishy shop. Lets start at the beginning, I had brought my car to LV Auto Service Center for a transmission diagnosis since the transmission had been having some shutters and slipping going on. In the first week of my vehicle being there it was actually good service, they did their standard diagnosis for over $200 and told me that my air intake had come loose causing some issues with the motor getting to much air and they had fixed that issue. Now this is where the shit show starts... They then had me reschedule for a "transmission rebuild" and I say rebuild lightly. They also at this time told me that the repairs would cost around $4000 for the full repairs and had me put a down payment of $2000. Mind you they had quoted me for a transmission build without even properly diagnosing the vehicle. At this time I was not aware they did not know exactly what the issue was, they did not make me aware of them not checking either, now this is suspicious because they charged me a diagnosis but then didn't mention what exactly was wrong with the vehicles transmission, just vaguely stated as a "transmission rebuild". Now from here it continues to get worse, I'm honestly angry I didn't take legal action against this shop. I unfortunately do not own the vehicle they worked on anymore but they are the reason I had to sell it. Okay, anyways, I bring the vehicle back to the shop for the "transmission rebuild" and I had great feelings about it, they assured me that the vehicle would be hopefully wrapped up within 2 weeks and they'll get started on it right away. I dropped it off that day with hope but then that was immediately squashed when I called back a week later to get an update. No answer to the first call, second call I get a hold of somebody. They tell me they have not started on the vehicle and weren't sure if it needed to be rebuilt. Why the absolute hell would this shop charge me a $2000 prepay fee for a transmission rebuild that they hadn't even get properly diagnosed. Obviously, I was furious I told them they needed to start on it ASAP since they had said it was going to be done within two weeks and I needed the vehicle for daily driving, so yeah this whole time they held my car hostage I was struggling to figure out how to get a mode of transportation. After I spoke to them on the phone they said they would test drive it and give me a call back. I waited and waited for that call, it never came. I had to call them every single time I needed an update, never once got a call from them, I call them back and they tell me the vehicle is not slipping and is driving fine, excuse me? You're telling me I just prepaid $2000 for a transmission rebuild that I didn't need? Yeah no not happening, I told them they needed to drop the pan, check fluid, and to do a transmission flush if needed and MAKE SURE there is no metal shavings in the transmission fluid. They check the pan, find metal shavings! Who could've guessed, I was right there was something wrong with my vehicle. By this point they've had the vehicle for almost 2 weeks now with me having to ASK them to properly diagnose my vehicle, to get some sort of actual answer on what could be going on, its almost like they didn't know what they were doing and couldn't admit it. My guess is they didn't know what they were doing, especially cause a few months go by of complete radio silence from LV Auto Service Center. At this point I had already purchased another mode of transportation, due to them holding my car and not working on it. I give them a call some months later to get an update on the car, no update "still working on it" they said. 6-7 months go by, I have to call every single week for them to tell me anything about the status of my vehicle and turns out they had shipped it to another transmission to shop to work on it, without my knowledge. This guy was extremely rude and unprofessional, and eventually was tired of my calling for updates and then eventually washed his hands of the vehicle and sent it back to LV Auto Service Center. I call LV Auto Service Center after they receive the vehicle and they tell me they are not sure if it is fixed or not but it "drove fine" and then charged me the rest. I was absolutely astonished by this, but at this point the car was running fine. The transmission was no longer slipping and I had thought it was over there, but no I was very wrong. I drove that car for 2 months before the transmission had went out again, bring it back since its still under warranty. They refuse to work on the vehicle and said they couldn't get parts, even though they had claimed they would be able to repair the vehicle for me in the first place, they held my vehicle for 10-12 months. I just purchased a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas on May16, 2026 from a dealership in Nunica, MI after…read moredriving it home back to Kalamazoo I noticed fluid leaking I thought it was from the radiator because the fluid was clear, 10 days later the check engine light came on saying check my oil level during these ten days I started hearing the brakes squeal. On May 21, 2026, I called Master Mechanics because they specialize in Volkswagen and other European vehicles. They couldn't get it in that day I had to wait until May 27, 2026, because they were booked up and Memorial Day was coming on May 26, 2026, that's when the check engine light came on. I paid 39.95 for them to check out my oil leak issue and I paid 39.95 for them to check out why my brakes was squealing when braking. Well, they said my brakes look fine and that the noise was coming come the belt tensioner. After leaving the shop my brakes were still squealing here and there by the time I get almost home the brakes are squealing more. Well, I had to go into the hospital for a procedure on my heart in two days. I said I will deal with this after my procedure and so I did I called them back and was told to bring it in for a recheck, well the mechanic comes to me outside where I was seating saying it's your brake pads and asks me to get in the vehicle with him while drives so I can show him what I hear while driving so off we go, he says to me I wasn't the mechanic who worked on your vehicle the first time I tell him that the other mechanics said the brakes were fine, so he hears what I was telling him about the brakes squeal noise he says yeah it's definitely your brake pads so we get back to the shop he says to me let me check it out some more so we don't have any more misdiagnose- miscommunications so he takes the vehicle out again with another mechanic in the vehicle with him they get back pull it in the garage, finally he brings the vehicle out and park it I walk over to him, so he's saying he wrote some notes and the men at the counter will be with me shortly eventually I get up to the counter and they guy at the counter says we looked back from when you first brought your vehicle in and we couldn't see the brakes! But it looks like the dealership changed the brake pads but used cheaper ones but yeah it's your brakes pad and we need to scuff your rotors, so I'm livid but I can't afford to get upset or stressed because of my heart failure so know he says and yeah you got another leak going on in the housing area around the oil filter, I paid 493.00 for the belt tensioner that had nothing to do with the squealing noise coming from the brakes because I googled this after I started hearing the squealing noise come back, the fact that I was told they couldn't see my brake issue the first time is insane when they specialize in my brand of vehicle!! I want a refund for that belt tensioner, my trust is out the door with this establishment, not to mention I brought my land rover to them back in the summer of 2024 about some issues I was having with it at that time they were informative and said I needed a new engine and they didn't want to put work into it and charge me for anything because the engine was failing already, which I kind of figured that because my timing chain was making a loud noise at the time. This experience was very irritating; they didn't offer any compensation on their lack concerning my brakes and charging me for something that was not the issue. This is not professionalism at all.

Long story short I stopped at R&M not only were they SUPER NICE, but they gave me a free quote ... told me I don't need to spend that kind of money (WHICH IS UNHEARD OF) .... instead they did a quick work on the car AND TOLD ME IT'S FREE ... by far the most incredible experiences i've had of customer service at any place let alone a body shop ... I live in Chicago but I with all seriousness will consider driving 4 hours to Kalamazoo if I ever need any major work. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is a follow up review to supplement a previous review…read more 4/3/2012: Had to take my vehicle into Autobody USA - Southside to repair damage from hitting a deer. Previously I had them repair our two vehicles from hail damage. Went here to get an estimate of damage prior to contacting my insurance company, as I knew they would send me here anyway. (My insurance company uses Autobody USA as a preferred repair facility.) Met with Ted Otten, he wrote up an estimate of damage. I was in and out in ten minutes or so. Contacted my insurance provider and was told to make arrangements with Autobody USA - Southside for the repairs appointment. I called Debi and made arrangements to drop my car off the day before. I dropped the vehicle off and ran some errands with my wife. Only a few hours later Debi called me to tell me my vehicle was finished. I could pick it up later when ever it was convenient! We drove back to find my vehicle was indeed ready, plus it had been washed, vacuumed out and waiting for me! How about that for service!!!? Now that does not mean your vehicle will be ready a full day ahead of schedule, but, that is they way they do business! Should it become necessary for me or anyone I know to need auto body repairs. I will be sending them here! You cannot go wrong with Autobody USA - Southside. Had our car done from an Accident, and a few weeks after getting it back we noticed paint had run…read moreby the doors and the after market window was very noisy. We setup to return it to be fixed, when we got it back a few days later the manager wanted to argue that the paint can happen and that was the best they could do. How about doing it right the first time and not giving us a BS line about what we may or may not know about paint and clearcoat. Such bad customer service to try to make the customer feel stupid instead of realizing that the job wasn't done well and to try to find a way to fix it. This is what is wrong with Customer service and why people get tired of dealing with this crap. I would NEVER again recommend Southside to ANYONE.
