They quote one price and then you get a bill from SF for twice more than the quote. Recently, we dropped in at his charming office on Miller Avenue (lovely old house!), and his associate, Gabriel Alves, could not have been more accommodating. Not well organized. Unresponsive. I own a home in Tahoe, a fire zone, and had a conversation with David Wong about the concern of being dropped when the policy renews at end of December. In mid December, I learned from my lender that the policy was not renewed, not my insurance agent! I sent David two emails to ask what happened, to which there was no reply. Now I have to scramble to find new insurance. It is frustrating to hire an insurance agent who does not do their job. read more

Most disorganized company I have ever interacted with, the least helpful, and least professional. I canceled a debit card in December, and have had to call State Farm FOUR separate times, and each time they promise me that yes, this time, they finally have my new card on file and everything will be fine. And then I get a notification yesterday saying they couldn't bill my file. I called, and Priscilla Wong kept accusingly repeating that my bank had declined the card, without actually listening to what I was saying- except this exact problem had happened repeatedly already: they were trying to bill the old card yet again. Even though last month they had billed the right one... Yes, I am frustrated- but instead of trying to work with a customer, when I said "I called the number on the stupid sheet you sent me", she freaked out, said she wouldn't stand for that kind of language (!?!?), and told me that if I called back SHE WOULD NOT PICK UP, AND THEN THREATENED TO CANCEL MY POLICY. When I asked to speak to her boss, she said "I am my own boss". A true professional. If she had said a simple "I'm sorry for your frustration, lets see if we can get this resolved" (common sense in any customer facing role), it would have diffused the whole situation. Instead, this people-person decided to go with the "accuse customer unapologetically" route, which only escalated things. Their lower ranking staff has been supportive, understanding, and apologetic in the past, which is the only reason I stayed with them. My experience with David Wong has also been positive, even though they kept making mistakes on the billing. But Priscilla is a different story. Priscilla Wong should not be allowed to work in a customer facing position. If the word 'stupid' used to describe a form they sent to me (I never said anything negative about her on the phone) is enough to trigger her, maybe she should take an anger management class before working any kind of job. read more

Since you aren't licensed in the state we now live in, and you have known that for over a year, your team should have had the courtesy to forward our policy on to an agent in our new area. That is how our other State Farm agents have provided actual client service to us in the past. Instead, your office never followed through when we tried to update our information, lost our billing info on multiple occasions, harassed me, and finally lost our business for your parent company. I have a record of written communication with your staff. Please don't try to blame me for the poor service we received from you. That is tacky. Your business is to provide customer service and you don't do it very well. I am not the only reviewer here with this exact complaint. read more

My insurance bill went from $145 to $281 a month. I have made no claims and when I tried to change my insurance to a better company I was told that an accident is appearing on my record as my fault. I was rear-ended and it was not my fault and the driver who rear-ended me paid for all repairs. State Farm & David Wong did not help at all and on top of it, they recorded the accident as my fault so they could hike my rates. read more

I have had State Farm insurance for years but after my encounter with Pricilla Wong, I changed to Geico. Everyone I have spoken to in this office over the past three years have always been courteous and helpful. However, when I called to insure a new car, Pricilla was so abrupt and and quoted me an extremely high rate to cover this car. I asked if this was the best rate she could find she said that it was. It was obvious that she put little effort into finding a better rate. Because of this lazy and rude attitude I looked for insurance elsewhere and found the same coverage with Geico and saved more than $700 less per year. Why pay more for rude and crappy service? Get online and find insurance agents who are interested in keeping your business and give excellent service. read more

I recently switched to State Farm and David Wong for my cars, and my experience has been horrible. I just switched back to GEICO. 1. David's office seems to have a revolving door of people - I have worked with 3 people in the last 6 months - one after the other as they leave. The staff that takes over doesn't seem to want to be responsible for any actions of the prior staff, nor do emails get returned. How difficult is it to turn off email if a staff member leaves so customers emails don't go into a black hole? 2. They have quoted me auto insurance rates, only to find out a few weeks later that the actual bill was TWICE what I was quoted. This is after his office took 3 days to confirm each of our records and went back and forth on the ratings for both drivers. What made it worse was that I happened to open the paper mail envelope which had the details of the policy, as David's office never called me to let me know that the rates were double what they quoted. This is the worst. A) I understand underwriting has the final say, but given that his office did the research, there shouldn't have been a change and B) if there is a change, the ownership is on the agent to let me know instead of hoping that I don't catch it? A change that doubled my insurance? 3. I unfortunately had to file an auto claim last month when my wife's car was mildly damaged by debris falling off a truck on the highway. Horrible experience with State Farm. (Not David's fault). A) emergency roadside assistance - kept on passing the ball back and forth between roadside assistance (outsourced) and State Farm agents. 90 mins go by post accident and they can't figure out how to get a tow truck. Roadside assistance needs a claim filed first, and claims passes it to roadside assistance as its urgent. I finally called David's office to be told that yeah - this happens and is an issue, and I should feel free to find a local tow company. Really - you expect me to have the local tow companies on speed dial? 4. Lack of customer service. While David's staff has great intentions, they are unable to get things done, outside of taking your business. On the accident in point 3, not only did they expect me to have a towing company, I was also asked - where do you want the car towed to? I asked them if they have preferred repair shops as its minor and his office told me NOPE. You have choice, they said. After 30 mins of calling repair shops within 5 miles (tow is apparently limited, which they don't tell you), I get the car to the Audi of SF dealer. Next day, claims calls me and tells me that they can't guarantee that they will pay for the entire repair as I didn't go to a preferred shop which is pre authorized and wouldn't have required appraisal. ??? I specifically asked for this and was told by David's office that this wasn't something State Farm did. I would not recommend David Wong's office or State Farm to my enemies. By the way, GEICO was 450 dollars cheaper when I switched both cars back to them. read more

Additionally, I regularly bid out and comparison shop my coverage and policies, and have found State Farm to consistently remain competitive in a tight market. That is true value. The best protection at a competitive price with exceptional service. David's staff appears fully informed and helpful when selecting policy types, deductibles, and coverage limits. I don't like writing reviews but this office well deserves it. My fiancé just bought a new house and insisted the agent David Wong who he talked to was very knowledgeable and the best. My fiancé added my name on his new house and INSISTED I change my current policy from Travelers to State Farm. When I called thinking they are going to ask me a million nonsense questions, try to sell me more than I need and other products but David didn't. He was very professional as my fiancé described and helpful with what I didn't need but what I should increase and explained why but never felt pressured to do so. The policy I received has more coverage than I originally had and paid less. Wow! Received a copy of new policy via email the same day. That's what you call service. We told our coworker who was closing on a house last month they must call this State Farm office for their policy and they did and he came back to the office from a meeting to thank my fiancé and I for recommending State Farm. Luckily I listened to my fiancée. My parents asked me today they need to renew their home insurance, my fiancé and I both said don't renew and call David tomorrow morning. Which led me to remember to write this review. I will recommend everyone in this office. Better customer service than Disney. That's saying a lot since Disney is known to be the #1 in customer service in the world. read more

Fortunately, we didn't have many claims but when we did, their response was immediate and very simple to manage. Having the personal touch they provided was comforting during times of need. As an example, during the Napa / Sonoma wildfires of 2017, they allowed us to increase our home's insured value mid-fire, as we had done a lot of work on the house and we forgot to update the policy. I have never experienced quit a frustrating service as the one I received with this team. It would take weeks to get an email response. I recently called to get some help with my policy and was given very minimal assistance and when I eventually decided to transfer out, they still billed me for one extra month I was not covered.
