I for one had a wonderful experience here! My assistant Dana made it a very wonderful experience. When I walked through the door it was the beginning of my wedding dress search, when I walked out the door a few hours later, I was basically all ready to get married! I had found my dress after Dana made numerous trips to find dresses for me and helping me with my fittings! I had my shoes, veil, and accessories! Dana made the whole experience fun and her wonderful personality made her easy to talk to and likeable from the start!! I would highly recommend her to anyone! read more

This store needs help! I am mother of the groom. The dresses were crammed in so tightly I could barely find what I was looking for. This store is very unorganized and old. Needs a makeover! Purchased a dress and returned it - did find one I liked, but ordered it because I wanted one that didn't look like it had been tried on hundreds of times. Asked for dress to be shipped and it did come in a timely manner, but stuffed in a mailer that looked like it had seen a war. Really ?? A $200 dress should have come in a box with tissue- you are a wedding /special occasion store. Time to act like one! read more

My daughters both shopped for prom dresses and the women who helped were great. Very kind, considerate and super helpful. They also told us they can alter dresses no problem. When were were assisted by the cashier, I mentioned that we needed expedited service because of time, she assured me we didn't,. I got notice the dress was in and assumed that the alterations would be done during the pickup since no one mentioned anything during payment. We were greeted by the hostess and told her we were there to pick up the dress and I asked about the alterations to one of the other workers and she said we needed to make an appointment but they were booking into June. The hostess told me that I should have made an appointment when we bought the dress and that she always does, which is not true since she was our cashier. I'm so disappointed that this shop, which claims to be a 'one stop shop' didn't take the time to ask me about alterations during checkout, assumed people knew that and made no effort to assist us in finding someone else to alter the dress or anything else. Needless to say, we won't come back here and will spread the word about the poor service. I don't normally make complaints but I needed to for this shop. read more

My first experience at David's Bridal was a amazing but my second time, when I was attending to help my cousin find a dress, was frankly horrific. My cousin is a plus sized woman and the moment the attendant saw us she instantly wrote her off. She didn't measure her, didn't pick out a single dress for her or even comment on one she tried on. I picked out every dress she tried on and our attendant probably spoke two words to my cousin and proceeded to sit herself down in a chair and eat a chocolate bar. We eventually found one my cousin liked, even though it didn't fit. I then asked her if we could order the dress in another size and she told me It couldn't be ordered. I went on the website and found it available in seconds. Very very angry with the treatment the woman gave to us. read more

I had an appt today to look at wedding dresses with my mothers and MOH. The woman at the front desk was very polite and directed us what to do first. My consultant was Yvonne and while she came off as overly friendly, she was pretty rude and almost sidetracked my entire appt. She was helping another family, so she pushed us aside and said she would be back. Then she came back, to tell us she would be back again. She finally started to gather the dresses I had marked I was interested in, but she told me I didn't pick well bc they didn't have some styles in my size (I'm bigger, but that's still rude). She was very rude to my Maid of Honor, barking orders at her and getting annoyed when she didn't understand of promptly follow direction. And she kept making mention that my size was an issue and that some dresses will just not fit. I am aware of my size, you don't have to remind me. I ended up finding my dress but the experience was just pretty awful. My party and I kept exchanging looks because it was ridiculous enough to be on a bad comedy. Everyone else was so nice, but she was just overbearing and rude from the get go, especially when I disclosed I would not be buying accessories. I will be back to get my dress and alterations, but I think I will look into other shops, or ask for someone other than Yvonne. read more

I went as part of a small group interested in looking at bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses. We were told that we could not try on any dresses bc they're assistants were too busy to assist us. We asked if we could just help eacho ther to which we were told no and told specifically that "if we choose to look around" to not take any dresses off the rack for any reason...... ok fine no problem. So as we're looking around at different wedding dresses one of their assistants pops up from no where to rudely remind us we are not allowed to remove them from the rack (which we weren't by the way) and then proceeds to look at what we're looking at and then promptly direct us to where all the clearance dresses were specifically ones for $99. The tone about it rubbed us all the wrong way. As if we looked like we somehow didn't belong where we were. Needless to say I will not be buying my wedding dress or any other dress from them, nor will my friend whose wedding is coming up first. Oh my God. How do I even begin to describe the awfulness of this place. Six months before my friend's wedding, I came in to place an order for a bridesmaid dress. Apparently February is a popular time to shop for prom dresses, because the place was flooded with children trying to cram into tiny, skanky dresses. It was a zoo. I tried on my dress in the style that I had picked out already and ordered the dress and a matching sash. The sales staff are a completely clueless bunch. I was never helped, assisted, it was like they didn't know what they were doing there. It took the lady a while to figure out how to put the order in, and when she took my measurements (which I'm not sure why she needed, I had told her the dress size to order), she accidentally drew on my shirt with her pen. Fast forward two months before the wedding. I had not received a call from them so I decided to call. They inform me that my dress is ready to be picked up. When I get there, I have to talk to two different people in order to talk to the correct person who can look up my order and retrieve the dress from the back. I get home and realize that the sash is not included. I call them again and ask if they can mail the sash to save me another trip, and the lady replies to me that I will have to pay for shipping. I asked them why because when I came to pick up the dress in person the sash was not there and that was not my mistake. She informs me that that's because the sash has "just" come in. Like I believed that. I asked to speak to the manager who agreed to ship the sash, but I did have to call two more times because two weeks later I had still not received it and it was getting close to the wedding. Just based on the price I paid for a plain, knee-length dress with a dumb sash that I will never use again, I would give this place two stars. Add in the awful, unprofessional experience and general ghettoness of the physical store, one star is even too many. Brides, please do not make your friends go here. read more

I've been in a few David's Bridal weddings, and I always have a sub-par experience, but this one takes the cake. We show up early before the store opens, so we can be prompt for our appointment. There are a few other groups there this morning also. Our assistant, or whatever the person who is supposed to help us out is called, is paged 3 times, making us wait 20minutes after our appointment time. She asks what we're there for. Well, as our appointment booking says, bridesmaid dresses. "Which dress" no, we're there to pick out dresses, as our booking says. in persimmon. "We don't carry that color" ok, not even one? Well, we still need to pick out the dresses, we'll risk it on the color. By the way, I found one in persimmon to try on. We can use rooms 3 and 8? ok great, we'll double up in the rooms. Our sales woman was zero help, and very frustrating. Cut forward a few minutes, each bridesmaid with an arm full of dresses, doubled up in dressing rooms, changing and another saleswoman opens the door (WHILE I'M NOT CLOTHED) and tells us we need to get out of the room because it's for her client. I told her I need to change first, we gather our dresses and head out. I apologize and explain that our sales assistant, Shirley, told us we could be in there. So she gives us that room and no apology for opening the door to flash the whole store. In the end we were happy with the dresses chosen, but decided not to order right away, as the wedding isn't for a year. The entire thing was extremely frustrating, from the unhelpful/borderline rude associate, Shirley, who desperately needs to be re-trained, to the disorganization. After all of that, I went online to look at the dress I had chosen and excitedly email it to show friends... and it's not available in our color. c'mon Shirley. read more

I have both a good and bad review....first off I would like to say that Yvonne helped me pick my dress out and she was AMAZING and soo much fun. I love my dress. On the the other hand...the store manager who I think her name is Mary is horrible. She is rude and has zero customer service skills. She's wasn't rude once, all three times that I have been there so far she has had a rude comment to say and is down right mean. Okay, I'll start off by saying there were some good things and some bad things about this place. Overall, I have decided that I would not recommend this place. But I'm gonna make a little pros and cons list anyway, to let you all know what my experience was like. (I am a bridesmaid and I went here this morning with the bride.) Pros: -We did not have an appointment and they took us right away. -Overall, we were in there for maybe a half an hour. It was not long at all. -Checkout was quick. And they took Discover. -During checkout, the lady at the front desk called around to see if they had my shoe size in another store. So she did try at least! And gave me tips on how to widen my shoe. (put the shoe in the freezer and fill a bag with water. The water will freeze and will widen the shoe. Or I could buy some type of thing that I have to, I dont know, do something to it and it widens it. I'm going to have to research it) Cons: -The lady asked what dress size I was. I said 10 or 12. More so a 12. I doubted that I would be able to fit in a 10, but ya never know. Figured I'd try both. She came back with an 8, 10, and 14. Turns out they don't carry a 12. I'm sorry, but exqueese me. Baking powder. (waynes world reference) How in the world do you not carry a size 12. I am sorry that I'm not a size 2. I'm a normal girl, with normal curvy body parts. Am I the only size 12 that comes in here?Is a size 12 uncommon? I ended up purchasing the size 14 and now that I'm home, I feel like I should have said, call me when you get a size 12 to try on. But I felt like I needed to decide and order today, so I didn't even ask if that was possible. I just went with the 14 and figured they'd just alter it. oh well. I wanna lose weight anyway so I guess who cares!! - I tried on shoes and it turns out I'm a size 7wide. I tried on a 7 and the length was good and my foot fit snug in there, okay great, however, a wide would be nice. So they called another store and it turns out they don't carry it at all! So, I guess my feet will be hurting by the end of the night! But don't you think they should have that size? Is it uncommon? Overall, I would not recommend this place. Poor selection and even poorer customer service. I felt like I was being rushed and the girl "helping" me was constantly no where to be found. I had to ask other associates that were working with other girls to help zip up my dress, unbutton it, etc. I have been to a lot of bridal shops looking for my wedding dress and this was the worst experience I've had. read more

I am the maid of honor in a wedding in August due to another company closing she was left to find a dress last minute while the original girl who was supposed to help her was anything but helpful she only was concerned with making a sale wasn't really listening to the brides needs the manger took over and kept the store open until the bride found her dress the manger was amazing and couldn't love her more she truly cares about her customers if it wasn't for the stylist who was rude (keep in mind others were nice and helpful to their brides) I would have given 5 stars thanks again to the amazing manger read more

i have to find a dress for my cousin's wedding in may. and while we had this horrendous session in the city at a dress warehouse, we only found some that we Kinda liked. and not in the color that jenny wants. so last night kenz and i came here. we were greeted instantly upon arrival by a Very friendly and helpful girl. she immediately found me the dresses that jen had sent me and then remained helpful while also assisting other customers. they had a pretty good collection but i was a bit sad that they didn't have the one line that we had finally settled on in the city (after trying on around 40 dresses. and if you know me and my feelings on shopping you will know what torturous hell this was for me. the final dress even bit me. ok, a bit of the hard lining had come out of the fabric and gouged my skin. but it Felt like it bit me.) i was very impressed by the service and selection here. oh. except that apparently all brides' maids are expected to be young and this with no boobs. all of the dresses are strapless more or less. that simply will Not work for me. so i may keep looking. we'll see. read more

I purchased my dress at a different David's Bridal location, but had my alterations done here. The alterations were SO expensive- the bustle alone cost around $150-200. On my wedding day, one button came off before the ceremony even started, before I had even touched the bustle. Over the next few hours they just popped off one by one. My bridesmaids and husband had to run after me all night long with safety pins, rearranging my bustle so that the train stayed up. If I had known better, I would not have spent that much money on the alterations- at a minimum, I had expected a level of quality that would hold up for one day! read more

Their customer service is non existent and the place is just chaos. Girls searching through in organized racks for bridesmaid dresses with no help from a consultant. And then some manager looked up and down at one of the girls in our party, tells her to turn around and in front of everyone says that there's no way she's a ten, she's a 14 at least. Then when asking about alterations and prices, they got extremely snippy when we mentioned it was a little high "well sweetheart if you think you can go some where for cheaper and not have our master seamstress do it then go right ahead" just a bad experience. I have to say I went to look for dresses for my bridesmaids and ended up ordering my wedding gown. The consultant who helped me(Dana) was wonderful. Very helpful, attentive and kind. Sadly this is where the positive ends on this review. I placed my order for my gown that evening and was told it would be in by April 2015. I received a call about 3wks later it was in and that I had to pick it up in 7 days or they would ship it to me. I ended up going to pick up my dress WITHOUT an appointment because I was never told I needed one for a pick-up. I went on a Sunday and was there at 11a when they opened. Well they had over 60 appointments that day and I was told I wouldn't be able to try my gown on I'd have to take it home and I'd have to go online to set up an appointment. I drove over an hour one way to get to the store and now I have to take the gown and make an appointment. I asked why wasn't I told I needed an appointment to pick-up either when I ordered it or when I received the call that the gown was in and ready for pick-up. Well they didn't know when I was picking up and they SUGGEST you make one if you are picking up on the wknd. When I called I said I would be in Sunday at 11a, no-one said to make an appointment. When I got there(1/18/15) to pick-up my gown they did get me a room because I said I wasn't leaving with out trying it on. Thank God I did. It had a HUGE snag across the back of the dress about 6in wide and had small orange stains in various spots on it and a small hole in the front of the skirt. So they reordered it. Now they said it would be in 4/27/15. I called to make an appointment this time. I spoke to a very rude and obnoxious woman named Debbie. You told me no I did NOT need an appointment and no one would EVER tell me that. I said they most certainly did say I should make one if picking up on the wknd which I was on a Sunday. She said well they are wrong. I said your store manager is who told me this. She then asked what was her name and that she would speak to her about it because it was a lie. Transferred me to appointments and I then spoke to a very nice associate. Made my appointment for Sunday 2/8/15. Well here in NY we are having our 2nd bad storm this week and I called them yesterday 2/7/15 and asked to come in and just pick the gown up but could I PLEASE try it on before I leave. They accomodated me. Drive down once again(3rd time) to get the gown. Guess what. Orange stains, a snag and this time black pen on the dress. I was in tears in the fitting room. I am so upset and pissed at this point. So they are reordering AGAIN. This is the last chance for them I am sick of driving 2hrs round trip numerous times. I mean come on check the damn dress before you call me. Oh and try some customer service classes Debbie you crabass! Ladies save your time and spend the extra cash for a place who treats you like you deserve and not just a number. read more

As two men we weren't sure what to expect and we wanted to get an idea before all of the girls go. Patty was absolutely amazing! She made us feel so comfortable and excited for our special day. This is a grocery store for Bridal shopping. Not a bridal experience any bride would enjoy. The place is dirty, the areas for the bride to try on dresses and show her party are crass, uncomfortable and uninviting. The people retrieving the gowns can not be called consultants because they know NOTHING, are very unprofessional in their attire, speech and knowledge. This place is NO WHERE a bride should go. Arrived with my sister, the bride, without an appointment and without my two young kids, on the first snowy day of the year (and still snowing). We were let in and helped by an incredibly friendly staff. Evidently the shop hadn't opened at 11 due to weather, but at 1pm... it was 12:45pm and they weren't open yet. We looked at all the bridesmaid dresses (love the poster of all the options on the endcap! Plus all the color options on the next endcap!), pulled out our possible options, then were helped by the employee to find the right sizes and she took them to the fitting room area. The girl was.... overly enthusiastic about every dress we tried on, which ended up being less than helpful, however, the store was basically empty in comparison to other reviews (thank you, snowstorm!!!) and we did have her attention. She got different sizes, colors, styles, ran and found the Vera Wang dresses just in case, and then... We ended up finding a bridesmaid dress that is probably IT on our first stop! Hurray! And she was great about finding something else with the right neckline in the color we wanted, just so we could see whether that was the right color... which it was. All in all, quite helpful and exactly what we were looking for. I think we'll be back for the dress.... Should we go get measurements, etc, I guess I'm hoping for another snowstorm! I am a former employee, I didnt last long for various reasons. I enjoyed the customers, but the employees along with management, just terrible. The main reason I quit was the employees. A few in particular. I will come back to that. Anywho, as a customer I recently visited the store with my daughter. As we arrived, we were not greeted, yet frowned upon by Mary (store manager) and the unpleasant customer service girl. After we were sneared at for several minutes we were put with a consultant, who was great. While trying on dresses, I had more snickers and questions from the unpleasant girl and Mary. While getting set up in the system I overheard Mary speaking negatively about me. After I left the store the unpleasant girl who I ABSOLUTELY did not like asked her coworker several negative questions about me of which Mary jumped in and encouraged the conversation. Its really unfortunate that my daughter found a dress there, but based on the employees behavior Im very uncomfortable with making the purchase. read more

She stated after the fact that she was very busy and overbooked, however we had an appointment prior to. We felt extremely rushed and unimportant to the business. Talk about rude. I had to call the store to oder a dress because shocker it wouldn't let me online. The rude B that picked up clearly didn't want to work. She wouldn't let me talk. She kept interrupting me. Smacking her goddamn mouth. They should have had my size an the dress but nope I wasn't in the system under my cousins registry. Then the RB ordered an charged me without even telling me when the dress was gonna be in. I find other I should have it a week before the wedding. Her words "hopefully." An and the dump RB would even email me my receipt. I read the reviews of this place and expected the worst. When it comes to plus size formal wear, your options are limited. I decided to just go here and find my own stuff. But then I meet consultant Vaneesa, who was impossibly lovely. She pulled dress after dress for me. Just when I thought I was finished, she had another dress for me to try on. She went above and beyond to help me find a formal dress for an occasion 3 days later. I was really nervous shopping by myself, but Vaneesa was so kind and attentive. I had a great experience. If I could give 0 I would. My daughter had and appt. yesterday 6/25/17 at your Central Avenue, Albany NY store. Her appt. was for 10:30 a.m. and we arrived 15 minutes early. We waited outside conversing which was not a problem as other bridal parties gathered after us and did the same. At approximately 10:45 the doors were finally unlocked and we were let in like a herd of cattle with the sales personnel saying come over here etc to sign in and have their "consultant" assigned to them; ours was Paisley. While she was pleasant initially, I could see that her enthusiasm decreased with every dress she had to retrieve. When 12:00 approached, it seemed to be even worse, as her appt. time was overextended, as it should be due to being locked out. I am so appalled and disappointed in our experience at your shop, mainly saddened for my daughter who was very nervous yet excited about her very first wedding dress shopping. This cannot be undone and totally blame David's Bridal and staff. There was such an undertone of stress and dissatisfaction between all of us and we were all thinking the very same thing as it turns out when leaving the appt. and discussing the entire experience in detail over lunch. Your staff to include the manager should be better trained, especially when dealing with a bride. Our consultant did not have an "eye" if you will for my daughter's taste or body frame. I felt as if we were at a chain store with a salesperson to simply check you out. The dressings room are smaller than expected, no mirror for the bride to see herself before coming out to her companions and mirrors. It was as much a surprise to her as us seeing each dress. Her consultant barely assisted with the dresses on and off or hanging up the unwanted dresses. This is totally unacceptable. Her dress size was not available, two sizes too large so it was very difficult to actually imagine the fit of the dress. Other stores had it but could not be sent internally so she could try on her "true" size. Staff unsure as to whether that style would be restocked in her size, if at all, as their inventory is basically a crap shoot if you will. We were advised that we would have to order it and it would take 12 weeks. The seamstress also came out with the consultant and store manager and all three concluded that the dresses are usually "stretched" out from being tried on so often. Really? I have never, ever heard of that in my 59 years. This was the absolute worst experience ever. We have made an appointment elsewhere, in a smaller, more personal boutique and will look at that experience as her "First". We will use David's Bridal as a gauge of what we DO NOT WANT in a consultant or store. In conclusion, David's Bridal has lost the business of one wedding dress, two mothers of the Bride/Groom dresses, one flower girl and 4 bridesmaid dresses. I will never recommend your store in Albany or anywhere else for that matter. Update: I was contacted by the actual store manager, Mary (who was not the manager at the store during our visit) and had a nice conversation. She offered to have my daughter come back to the store for a much better experience with Patty. We will think about it and get back to her should we decide to revisit but I think we are going with another boutique at this point. read more

I personally don't even feel like they deserve one star this was my experience The girl that was assigned to me came over we spoke for a little while told her exactly what I wanted and how much money I had to spend which is an a lot I'll give you a little bit of background i've been with the same man for 27 years were going to the justice of the peace we are having a small reception afterwords I told the girl I wanted to dress off of the clearance rack I did not want to spend more than $100 on the dress and shoes obviously would be extra told her I had $200 to spend for everything. I also told her I did not want a white dress. She brings over five dresses every dress is down to the floor long and it actually looks like an overpriced wedding dress but there was one pretty one was $250 It was called the goddess so she says just try it on so I did and of course it was beautiful and I felt beautiful . Then another girl goes and gets a corset bra.. Another girl goes and gets me shoes ...another girl goes and gets a thing for my head . Everybody is telling me how beautiful I look but in my mind of knowing I can't afford the stress but the pressure was on . Then she gets a seamstress woman to come over in the one woman says OK it will be $75 to alter it .. Little bit of more time goes by another lady comes over and says oh no no no it's $95 to alter it ... so now at this point I'm totally on the fence then they bring me over to actually have the dress pinned and that woman says it's going to be a flat fee of $150 to have it altered.. so I get through that I get my clothes back on I'm up at the cash register I have my credit card out I'm about to buy the stress that 1. I know I don't want it it is not the dress that I visioned in my head. 2 I know I can't afford it and 3 I was totally pressured through the whole thing. Just as she was about to take my credit card she says to me do you have the date to come back and pick your dress up I said to her now she said you have to go back to alterations to get the date I said OK so I go back to alterations now the same Lady that just told me it was $150 flat fee said this to me it's going to be another $50 and I said absolutely not I don't want the dress and I walked out . Later that night Mary the manager of David's bridal's called me and apologized and said oh my god this should've never happened come back I'll take care of you . The next day I went to JCPenney's and I bought my wedding dress it's exactly what I wanted. So two days after this happened I went back to David's bridal I wanted to buy the shoes and the bra spoke to Mary she said you have to come back with the dress on that's the only way you know everything's going to fit now this whole time she's trying to sell me another dress knowing I have already found my dress . I also looked on the racks of dresses and they had several of the style of dress that I requested in the beginning. So the very next day which was today as a matter of fact I bring my wedding dress and I go back to David's bridal to buy the shoes in the bra. Now I'm told the shoes are sold out. Absolutely one of the worst experiences of my life I didn't ask for much I'm not one of those brides that are spending thousands of dollars on a wedding but I did deserve to have the same respect as somebody that was just because I couldn't spend a lot of money doesn't mean that I should've been treated any differently . Don't use this store!!!! I wish I didnt!! From ordering my dress to calling the store to find out why I haven't received my dress in the mail, it was a complete shit show. No one knows what's going on. I ordered my dress over the phone with them and the girl didn't even make sure we were both talking about the same dress or the same size. I am from new jersey I called to let them know my family member will be picking it up, again no communication because they are calling me telling me they are mailing my dress. After multiple messages about them mailing it to me I stopped trying. Then weeks go by and I don't have my dress. I call, no one knows where it is. Oh well finally found it and she says someone was supposed to call me because they don't have the right address. Are you kidding me??? No one called. I will NEVER EVER go back to this place. This is possibly the worst Davids in the country. The staff are unhelpful and basically nonexistent and only pay (still barely any) attention to brides. I was looking for a prom dress and made an appointment and after showing us to the back the stylist disappeared and never came back and the dress I tried on in the store had a fault as did the one I end up ordering. I went to a new store in another state while on vacation and the difference was night and day they did everything the Albany store didn't, the stylist was attentive and took my measurements and despite also working with another customer at the same time listened to my feedback about the dresses she was bringing. I came in to David's Bridal September 3rd and spoke to Kay and Stephanie about a dress I saw online. I gave them the description of the dress and they knew exactly which one it was. It was on clearance, they helped me pick a color, and ordered it online so I didn't pay shipping from the store. They were so helpful, I walked out so happy and excited. I would never recommend this place. When getting married you would like a consultant who at the very least, pretends to care about you. They made us wait 1 1/2 hours AFTER our appointment time, they scolded us for even perusing the merchandise, the consultants are rude and abrasive, and the family/bridesmaids/etc. have NO say in any dress choices. Simply put; its a MEAT MARKET. Disgusted. read more
