I hesitated to write this but I cannot stay silent. I ordered my rehearsal dinner gown in April (for June date) from this store in particular. The dress was guaranteed to arrive by May 18th and when the end of May came I had not been contacted the dress had arrived. I called and was told "oh yeah, we've had it in the back for a while now." I asked why I did not receive a call or email and the sales associate was not sure. Upon trying on my dress in store it looked wrinkled as if it had been thrown in a ball and taken out right before I arrived, also it was way too big and hanging off of me as I had been dieting and exercising, working my butt off for my wedding and honeymoon. When I initially ordered the dress the consultant convinced me to go two sizes up due to my bust but I had feared that the dress would be too large which is exactly what happened. I went to schedule an alterations appointment to which I was told "we don't have anything available for all of June." (this was a lie as I went online when I got home and scheduled an alterations appointment for the next week)They didn't really seem to care that no one contacted me when the dress actually came in and that now there was no way to get the dress altered. The worst part was the same consultant that told me to go with the larger size was also upfront and upon learning that the dress was way too big (hello!) said "OH YOU DIDN'T GET SMALLER, THE DRESS GOT LARGER!" (followed by laughing - she was the only one) I didn't even know what to say as I was in shock as was everyone else standing there. Come to find out this same consultant also entered my information in the system incorrectly which is the reason no one contacted me when the dress actually arrived. I was given three different dates as to when the dress actually arrived in store so I still have no idea. The only helpful associate checked to see if they had a smaller size in store for exchange but they did not. She told me to order the smaller size online and then return whichever dress I would not wear in store. I did just that and the smaller size fit perfect. I went to return the larger dress in store, explained the whole nightmare experience and the manager on duty could care less. She became argumentative with me when I explained the facts to her about what happened. I was in tears explaining the story and also having to deal with this less than a week before my wedding and rehearsal dinner. She could care less and kept explaining the policy is the policy, returns within seven days and how I was treated is justified. I asked her when the dress actually arrived and not only did she give me a fourth different arrival date, but also repeated the email address on file which was still wrong in the system. I explained it's not fair to me that I was not contacted when the dress came in, I had to order a second dress, and now I am not able to return the first dress. She just shrugged her shoulders and said the policy is the policy. She offered store credit to which I replied I will never shop in this store again after this experience. What if this had been my actual wedding dress and I was treated like that? With shoulder shrugs, a care less attitude, no contact, and body shaming! She said best bet would be to contact the store manager or corporate as there was nothing she could do. My now husband did contact the store manager that afternoon as I was too upset to do so. The store manager gave a fifth and different arrival date for the dress and the same nonsense that the manager on duty had given earlier that day. I now have to contact corporate to go over this horrible experience once again but have hesitated to do so. I have never been treated with such disrespect nor body shamed in the way that I was in this store. I worked retail for over ten years both as a store manager and also a sales associate and you do not treat anyone like this, ever! It still brings me to tears when I think about the whole experience. I warn any future brides going to this store. What a horrible, awful, body shaming experience. read more

Went to David's bridal today (9/3/16) after seeing a dress on their website. I found it on the rack within 10 minutes. Perfect fit except for the length, which is normal as I am on the petite side. Amanda hooked up up with next day alterations. We also got the perfect dress for my maid of honor. I never thought dress buying would be so easy. I tried on exactly one dress and bought it on the spot!!! I love David's Bridal!! read more

We had the MOST amazing sales girl. Amanda. She was...simply put...amazing. Busy? Yes! Sometimes running around? Yes! But amazing amazing amazing!!! And everyone we met there was amazing as well. The ladies behind the check out desk were also kind, polite and easy to work with. My daughter had selected bridesmaid dresses, and then changed her mind, and guess what?! NO PROBLEM. We exchanged them without a single issue! I am a wedding planner and have seen crazy expensive gowns that didn't look any better than the broad selection provided here. And my daughter found her dream dress. I would have let her spend thousands if she wanted to...but she would rather have that money in an envelop than wear it for a few hours. avoid avoid avoid. I came here out of sheer desperation for a wedding dress. As soon as my mom and I walked in, I knew we should just walk out. But we stayed. Regretably. Now, I know a couple of gals who got dresses here and were THRILLED with them. I have also gotten two bridesmaid dresses from here. They're o.k. As we walked in, we were instructed to sit down and fill out a form before looking through their catalog. After I looked through it (carefully and slowly so as not to be judgmental), I pinpointed one dress that was anything remotely close to what I wanted. The sales lady came over and asked me what I liked so she could start pulling dresses. I showed her the one. She insisted, "oh no, there must be more! Let's look through the catalog." I told her I already had and she said, "No, we need to look again." So we did. Slowly, painfully slowly. "Just point at anything that remotely catches your eye!" she said. So, to appease her, I pointed at a few features of a few dresses that were ok. However, I also described to her in great detail what I knew I wanted (after already having tried on dozens of dresses at other salons). I asked, "Do you have any made from silk?" She laughed at me. LAUGHED! She whisked us away to a seating area while she pulled dresses for me to try. Now, my only requirements were strapless, beadless, and full skirt. I wasn't expecting any Alcenon lace embroidered beauties here. What she brought over was: 1) A slinky mermaid 2) A beaded monstrosity 3) A halter dress As my mom pointed out, this girl did NOT listen a word to what I wanted. I along with my mom, flower girl, and 2 bridesmaids went dress shopping yesterday at David's Bridal in Danbury CT. For what should have been an amazing experience turned into a horrible experience and this bride reduced to tears!! We were greeted for our appointment which we were on time for then we were greeted by whom was supposed to be our assistant to help. At first she was there then as another party came in a few minutes later we were pushed aside!! Ended up in the back by the dressing rooms to be forgotten. We were told to go look and find our own dresses without any direction and assistance. I am disabled and require a cane to get around due to a stroke at a young age so navigating isn't easy. I had to dress my flower girl and find accessories for her as well while helping my mom with her dress and trying to decide and help a few in my bridal party. It was impossible. I came prepared with my wedding book swatches of my dress bc it is a blush pink, ideas of dresses and so on. Well to be ignored pushed to the back and forgotten is not my ideal experience. If I could give less stars and a minus rating I would. My fiancé came in to see our niece aka flower girl and the woman behind the desk completely ignored him and us without so much as a hello. He was completely turned off by the whole experience. With being a veteran and the lack of so much as a warm greeting we are taking our business else where. The same is I had made other appointments for my bridesmaids, maids of honor and other flower girl and mother n law because not everyone could go at the same time. Came here for mother of the bride dresses, the girl in there sent us all over the store looking to get a name tag.. when we finally found it they called the SAME girl to help us. Well HELP is an over statement. She stood there and braided her hair 4 times while my mother tried on dresses offering NO help. this SAME girl also proceeded to say that she felt sorry FOR HERSELF because she had to help us. UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE. Will NEVER return again. read more

I drove an hour yesterday to go to the closest Davids Bridal store to get sized for a bridesmaids dress for my best friends wedding in October. I was in the store for about 10 minutes before anyone noticed me standing at their front "desk" for someone to come over and help. FINALLY this one women looks up my name and the brides name, I explained I just needed to be sized, my dress is an online purchase only & wanted to see how something similar would look. She sends me off to Wendy. First of all Wendy grabs the paper out of my hand that I had printed to show them the dress I wanted. she disappears & starts dealing with a bride that was there getting sized (might I add, who already had an associate working with her) Wendy finally returns to me with 2 dresses that weren't even some what similar to the one I want & sent me over to try them on (without asking what size I am) they both were 2 small. I come out of the changing room and WENDY of course is no wheres to be found. I waited around for about 5 or 10 minutes looking at shoes. Wendy finally comes back over, I explain the dresses didn't fit and weren't even close to the dress I wanted. She seemed to get alittle angry because she had to go find another dress for me to try on. Finally she returns again with the same dress just bigger size.. Once again I go and try it on and came out of the dressing room wearing it, to see how it looked and to have her zipper the back. Well Wendy was to busy helping the bride to be, then to be bothered with me so I went back in and changed. I come out and wait again for her to come back to see me. not only was she incredible rude but so inconsiderate when I had told her that the size bigger was alittle to big and I was confused why they didnt just take a tap measure and size me like that.. HER RESPONSE WAS well not all of us are a perfect size 4 or 6. mean while I only weigh 120 pounds and 5 foot... She made me feel absolutely awful about myself and made it seem as if I was a bother to her. prior to this the brides mother also had to deal with Wendy yesterday and she had the nerve to roll her eyes at the brides mother when she had mentioned that her daughter was not changing her last name. The brides mother also left the store yesterday almost in tears because of this women.. read more

Upon walking through the door I was dissatisfied. I was not greeted as there was nobody in the front at the welcome desk. I showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment. I had to walk around the store before I was noticed! Even though I was early, I still ended up waiting after my appointment time's start for my consultant. The consultant, Rachel, was too young for her position...I would have been much happier if I had someone over the age of 21 helping me...but there weren't any other older women working! Also, the store was understaffed...I counted 3 total people working. While I'm sure Rachel is a nice girl, she lacked confidence. She also lacked an attention span. She didn't seem to care much about my experience in the store. She didn't offer to help me much with getting into the dresses...I would come out of the dressing room needing assistance and she was nowhere to be found in between every dress (and I only tried 4 on). I shouldn't have had to call out her name so many times! It was so frustrating. Aaaaand...she had no clue what different necklines were referred to as either! She just isn't the right person for that job. The store also didn't have the ONE dress I actually wanted to try on, and all the other dresses I tried were wrinkled, ripped, and NOT representative of what the designers OR David's Bridal should stand for. I'm definitely not returning to any David's Bridal after that experience an most certainly would not recommend any bride-to-be to waste their time in that store. read more

When I arrived at the Danbury location to look for my wedding dress, my fist impression was terrible. People were leaving angry because they didn't have enough staff to help the customers that were "walk-ins". I didn't have an appointment either! So, I put my name on the "waiting" list and browsed around for a dress. If it wasn't for Hannah in Danbury, I would have left the store. She was so sweet and helpful even when she wasn't supposed to help me. When I finally tried on my first dress, she looked over and said I have a dress just for you. The beautiful gown she brought to me ended up being the dress I bought! I love it! Thank you sooo much Hannah for your help! Tiffany was also a great help. read more

I will never purchase another piece from David's Bridal again. Unfortunately this is more directed to their corporate office but I purchased the dress from this store so they will have to bear the brunt. I purchased a dress a few months ago for a wedding I was supposed to be in in Colorado. On the plus side, the woman who helped me was quite pleasant but I feel bad that she has to work for this company. I brought my dress home and anxiously awaited wearing it for the wedding. It needed no alterations for me. Unfortunately, a few days before I was to leave for said wedding, my father suddenly passed away which obviously meant I would no longer be flying across the country to attend the wedding. I contacted the store 2 weeks later to ask that they consider letting me return the dress as obviously the situation was not your typical. I now had a perfectly good dress, unaltered, tags still attached that I would never wear. Now believe me, I'm already well aware of their return policy which I find to be a bit ridiculous but so be it. This is a perfect dress that hasn't been touched since I walked out of the store with it so there really isn't any excuse as to why they wouldn't take it back. The store told me they could help me and offered me the number to the corporate office. I called them and was treated with disrespect and basically they couldn't be bothered with me. Now, I'm not naive. It's obviously a large national company and my measly $175 wasn't gunna make or break the bank for them so obviously why would they care. But it's the principle. I spoke with a manager who took all of my information, offered his sympathy (thanks, sir) and told me he would get back to me that afternoon. He called the next day to get more information from me....what more do you need? Perfect dress, never worn or altered, tag still on. I even offered to send a copy of the death certificate for proof (which is ridiculous but often companies will ask- we had to show one to the airline to cancel our flight). He never got back to me. Never even bothered to call me back. So now I have a dress I'll never wear, a funeral that has yet to be completely paid for, and a permanent nasty taste in my mouth for David's Bridal. read more

I didn't expect much when I went to Danbury David's bridal shop at first. I went in for my wedding dress, and I thought I would just try some dresses on since it was my first time trying dresses. However, Tiffany, my assistant, made everything so easy yet special. Honestly, at first I didn't think she would know much about the wedding dresses since she looked much younger than me, (sorry I do tend to judge the book by its cover!) but I was definitely wrong on that! She already had dresses that I added as favorites at their website, told me which style I picked and also kindly recommended different type of dresses that might look good on me relying on my body type while respecting my budget. I fell in love with the first dress that Tiffany recommended. My friends gasped, and I fell so right in the dress. Of course I tried other dresses too, just to make sure that feeling that I had at first was right; no other dresses were even close to the first dress Tiffany recommended. Tiffany went out of her way to make sure everything I wanted to try on was there, and also asked that if I feel right, comfortable and most importantly, if I see myself walking down the aisle in this dress. If I can give this location zero stars I would! My mother was looking for a simple wedding dress & I was looking for two dresses for two different weddings. We both found three dresses each that we liked after looking thru the entire store which was messy & disorganized. When I asked the front desk for a fitting room, they said they were packed/no rooms available. Mind you, they didn't even bother accommodating us for just ONE fitting room. We were offered to schedule an appointment, BUT they didn't bother putting the dresses on hold for us (24 hours only), their next "available appointment" was Wednesday 01/17/2018. I walked out of the store furious, meanwhile the customer service rep informed my mother that if she did like a dress, it wouldn't be ready in time for her wedding. Also mentioned how "your daughter is upset with me because we can't help you guys today!" WE COULD'VE LEFT THE STORE WITH 3 DRESSES, BUT DUE TO POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE & LACK OF ASSISTANCE, WE LEFT WITH NONE! I have done a lot of business in this particular location and am happy to report that I have had a pleasant experience every time I have worked with employees here. I tried on and purchased my wedding dress here on August 31, 2011, and to just comment on the below poster who states that their consultant did not listen to them, no consultant is going to know exactly what you are looking for unless you come in with specific style numbers. That goes for many different bridal salons as well as many different divisions of the service industry. In any event, I surfed the website ahead of time, since you only have an hour for the consultation, and came in with about five different dresses that I wanted to try on. I was going for the puffiest and poufiest, and for the heck of it, I tried on a fitted, non-puffy style.... and fell in love! The consultant was super nice and read that I was set. She got me a veil to try on with it and even held up the under bustle and tolerated my mother taking over 100 pictures to show my family. She was great! I have been there numerous times since, to get my mother's dress, to shop for my 'maids' dresses, to pick up and purchase their dresses.... and I've never encountered any rude staff. Some of the managers are SLIGHTLY pushy but it's not beyond what you expect for their job. I've only experienced an issue with them accidentially not telling me that my slip was in via email (but I had come in for another reason 2 days later and they had it so I got it). Compared to other DBs that I've been to, this is a great store and I wouldn't go anywhere else (and yes, Yonkers is the worst!!). But I will say to do the following to make your visit the best it can possibly be: *Come with a few different styles for you or your 'maids to try on, otherwise, you will waste most of your appointment time. *Make an appointment for a non-weekend time (like a Wednesday night). You will get all the attention you deserve without worrying about having to deal with an understaffed DB. ALSO remember that this place stocks prom dresses, so they are going to be very busy this time of year! For your sake and theirs, please be patient, and happy shopping! :) read more

I went to David's Bridal last night with 2 of my Bridesmaids, mom and Aunt. Briane was helping us. She was amazing! Very polite and friendly. She pulled all the dresses we asked for and more. She let us continually pick more off the rack. She was helpful with zipping and tying without it being uncomfortable having a stranger help you dress. Our appointment ran long and she didn't rush us at all. Even though I wasn't there for a wedding dress, we tried some also. Briane was knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. My review is for the seamstress Cecilia. She was absolutley outstanding!!! I went to her with days before my wedding wanting additional alterations. She did everything to help me along the way. She made me feel at ease and I knew with her confidence and expertise my dress would come out to be exactly what I wished for. Being a chain of sorts, I know experiences can vary greatly from store to store. But I have especially high praise for the store in Danbury, CT. My sister/MOH made an appointment to look at wedding dresses specifically for when my mom from the midwest was visiting. It would be our only chance to have fun and for me to try on dresses while my mom was here. First, and I understand this has a lot to do with how busy they are at that moment, but they let us stay way past our scheduled appointment time, and the salesgirls kept checking in and helping to point out differences between the dresses, encouraging me to identify elements I particularly liked and didn't like. Second, after we'd identified a few elements I particularly liked, they brought out more dresses with those elements - even if they had other elements I didn't particularly care for in the beginning. Third, they even brought out their alterations gal to help show me what certain dresses would look like when I bustled the dress. Fourth, what was strictly an exploratory trip to have fun with my mom and sister turned into me falling in love with a dress I may not have considered at the beginning, and ordering it that day. And, it came in so much faster than expected, although I appreciate the staff explaining how and why the turnaround times could vary. I was very pleased with my experience there - and my sister found and bought a pair of fun shoes on a whim, which the staff was kind enough to go and dig through what they had to see if they could find her size, as they were discontinued! Awful and unhelpful service. She didn't listen to any of our requests so We had to go find dresses ourselves. This obviously took longer than if the consultant knew what she was doing and could pull the right dresses for us. We were constantly waiting for her while she talked to coworkers and put dresses away because she kept insisting that she needed to be the one to zip the dress and put clips on. After being there for 90 minutes my sister asked to try one more dress but we were told that it was 7pm and they were closed. Really?!? read more

Purchased my dress from David's Bridal five months ago and had my first appointment with alterations yesterday and it did not start out well. When I received my dress after purchasing it, I decided that I really didn't like it and it just wasn't me. That feeling was confirmed when I got back into the dress for alterations. I seriously hated my dress! I wish I could remember names because the lady in alterations and one of the young ladies that works on the floor were absolutely fabulous. They had me look at other dresses, try a few others on and gave me options on what could be done to my dress to make me love it. In the end I went with the suggestions and changes that were added to my dress and I absolutely love it!!!!! Simply put: the employees here are kind of rude and pushy. I went there mid January with my mom's friend who is having a destination wedding and doesn't speak english too well. We went on a Tuesday afternoon (I must admit with no appointment) thinking it wouldn't be too busy and we could at least look around to narrow down a style even if we didnt make a purchase. At first we were told that we needed an appt then a manager said that they could fit us in 2hrs later. We decided to just look around until the appt time that was given to us. Within the 2hrs we waited there were several employees just hanging out, the store was virtually EMPTY and we were confused why someone couldn't help us. When our appt time came customers started to arrive and we were ignored for another 20mins until we spoke up. The employee acted like she didnt know I was given an appt, when she followed up on it we were finally given a consultant. This young lady was very friendly, patient and helpful. We ended up purchasing a dress from her... A little over a month later, due to a family emergency the bride decided to have a smaller wedding and wanted to exchange her dress (which wouldnt be ordered until the final payment was made) for a simpler one. We went on a Friday this time and it was understandably busy. We were greeted but not helped by anyone. When I went to the register to find out the details of an exchange (or if it was even possible) I was brushed off and told that we should just look for a dress we wanted then come to the register and a manger will help us with the changes. We found a lovely, simple dress and waitied at the register for a manager. Stephanie was the manager who came and she was very short about explaining our options. She spoke as if we were stupid and should already know how things worked! No one goes into this kind of situation expecting to have to change the original dress that they wanted. Therefore the fact that she acted annoyed with explaining our options was very off putting. Overall our experience was not what we expected (both times) and I wouldn't refer anyone here. I rarely write reviews on Yelp, but my experience at this David's bridal location was so terrible that I felt compelled to make others aware. When we arrived at the store, everything seemed to go well. It then began to go downhill. My bridesmaid tried on 5 dresses, and when we asked our assigned associate it we could see a dress in the color I liked she disappeared for 10 minutes. When we saw her again, she was helping another bride into a fitting room. When she saw us, she exclaimed, "oh! I was looking for a dress in that color! Upon perusing the clearance dresses, I found a bridal gown to try on. Another associate helped us into the same fitting room then left. I put on the gown, came out to show my mother and friend, and was stopped by ANOTHER associate who told me they usually don't allow people to just try on dresses. We explained we were just abandoned. As I was changing out of the dress, our original associate came over to apologize for disappearing and then said she was going on lunch. My wife had an awful experience here. They collected fees for work they never did on the dress. When confronted about it we received nothing but double talk and back peddling. In our opinion these people are the worst. read more

This was my first experience dress shopping. The poor customer service I received on my appointment turned what was suppose to be a joyful once in a lifetime experience into a miserable uncomfortable ordeal. I was treated rudely by a staff member who appeared to have rather been doing anything but helping me and I was made to feel like I was not wanted there. She would bring me one dress at a time then disappear for a long period of time. She was completely disinterested in any opinions I had on the dresses she was bringing. I made the appointment on a Monday afternoon, so there was only one other customer in the store at the time. The one other customer appeared to be just as unsatisfied with the customer service as I was. Since my visit I have been to several other bridal salons and have always had a pleasant experience. read more

BAD EXPERIENCE. We went here yesterday to find my mother's dress for the wedding. We had a girl named Amanda as our consultant. She did not listen to ONE thing my mom or I wanted. As a bride, I have a vision, and so did my mom of what she wanted. The consultant didn't listen nor did she help us in any way. We wasted an hr over there. She kept leaving us and not listening to my request. And when we needed clips, another girl working near us gave it to us rather than our own consultant. Not a good time here. My daughter's (12 yrs old) dressing didn't fit upon trying on in Sept after receiving in Feb and I paniced. I called and Karin helped me on the phone and had me come in with my duagther and dress. I bolted over and Karin was able to fit her and order to next size up and expediated delivery...wedding 10/10/15. I then tried on several dress, with Karin's help, and purchased a special occassion dress for the same wedding all under an hour's time due to the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff at David's Bridal in Danbury, CT. You have earned a customer for life with myself and my daughter because of the customer service we received. I drove 30 minutes to get to the David's Bridal in Danbury because the one in the town I live in did not help me. Danbury was great. Sherry helped me and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She let me meet with the woman who does alterations and then helped me find shoes, exchange my veil, and get other accessories. I was very happy with my visit because Sherry, Elaine and Alda (I think that was the seamstress' name) made me feel so much less nervous about my upcoming wedding.
