Had a great experience finding bridesmaid dresses here and Jesse did the perfect job of finding my dress and veil!

I wanted to write this review to warn other brides before they even think about buying their wedding dress and/or bridesmaid dresses from this place! First off, my mother and I went to see what kind of bridal dresses they sold and if I liked any of them. I really liked one of the dresses that was on the clearance rack but wasn't completely sure that I wanted to buy it that day. The salesperson made my mother and I believe that the dress wasn't available for purchase online in that color and in my size, so we decided to buy the dress that day under the presumption that it wasn't available anywhere else. FALSE. It was available online for 6 months after we bought it! The salesperson most likely knew this but led us to believe differently...VERY unprofessional in my opinion. Secondly, I had 4 bridesmaids who needed to get fitted for their dresses at David's Bridal. The location in Illinois went great for 2 of my bridesmaids but NOT the location in Grand Rapids. I went up with one of my bridesmaids for a scheduled fitting - no one knew the color or style of the dress that I had selected for my bridesmaids (luckily I remembered). They didn't even know I had purchased my bridal gown there a couple of months earlier. Not to mention that one of my bridesmaids had to go up there twice to get fitted, because no one bothered to write down any of her measurements. In sum, I had a horrible experience with this place. Customer service representatives are rude (I had a lady call me a "brat" once), they gave misleading/false information, and the employees have no idea how to do their job (i.e. write down measurements). So if you are looking to purchase your wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride/groom, and/or flower girl dresses, my advice is to look elsewhere. read more

If I could give them negative eight stars I would. The service was awful, and the woman helping us (I use the term helping loosely) knew almost nothing about her job requirements. She botched our measurements, brough the wrong dresses, and was overall the opposite of helpful. I'm very skinny, something I'm self conscious about, and she continuously commented about how small I was, making me feel bad about my body in front of my party. "We never get people as tiny as you," and "you have almost no bust" were things she said. I swear I almost drop kicked her. I will never be going to this location ever again, much less any other David's Bridal if they allow their employees to body shame their customers. Find somewhere else to go! My fiance drove three hours to find her perfect wedding dress with some of her bridesmaids. They were under staffed and had to wait 30 minutes for each dress. The workers rude and clueless. She kept telling the lady there what kind of dress she wanted to try on and she would bring her totally different styles, even tho she all ready picked out the dresses she wanted to try on their website. Horrible customer service! The 4 people that went with her couldn't believe the bad service! read more

I would never recommend this place to any bride to be!!! I swear they crammed everyone they signed up at the bridal show into a one day appointment book! The man we had helping us, also had another bride to be to work with and she was in her own right to demand his time, so that left us with no help! I was supposed to have an appointment 30 minutes after my daughter started and her mother in law to be had the same appointment time as I! One dressing room was allotted for both of us! Run far away from this place!! The manager ordered me the wrong bridesmaid dress! One I didn't even try on. The dress came in 3 weeks before the wedding (very short engagement). When I picked it up and I realized it wasn't the dress I asked to speak with the manager.I only tried on one dress to get the size I needed, I had already looked at the dresses online and picked the style. The dress ordered was the correct color and size, but the the style was totally different. I don't understand how this was a mistake, especially when the manager placed my order originally and I brought the exact dress to the front desk. She gave me two options. First, I can return the dress and place the order for the new one, but she couldn't guarantee that the new dress would be in on time. The next option is to buy the additional dress so that I could have the original just in case the new dress doesn't make it. Keep in mind Davids return policy, the first dress had to be returned within 14 days to get my money back. They screwed me over. Instead of the all the bridesmaids having a different style dress in the same color there are two of us with the same style. The part that surprised me the most is that the manager never once apologized for their mistake. read more

This was a horrible experience! It was a cattle call and the employees were very unfriendly, not happy, stressed and they we were way over booked. We had a 5:00 appointment and didn't get helped until 5:45! We had dresses reserved on the website under favorites and they said we didn't! Funny we pulled it up but it defeated the purpose of an appointment and preregistration. This was worse than going to Walmart and a horrible experience, so unprofessional. I chose David's bridal as one of my 4 places for wedding dress shopping because of affordability and the convenience of trying dresses on in my size. Keep in mind that, because of this convenience, your consultant will likely be splitting her time with you and at least one other bride. I highly recommend you choose a weekday to find your dress. Overall, finding my dress was a good experience. However, my dress was very dirty when I picked it up. They were able to get it cleaned, but it was definitely worrisome. read more

DO NOT ORDER from Davids Bridal online. They do not give you time to see if alternations can be made before it needs to be returned. It will not tell you online while you are ordering that you only have 14 days to get a Return authorization. The packing information does not give the return information either. I did not think returning a unused dress with tags would be a problem but it is. I do not feel safe doing business with the company. If you chose to work with them be very careful. Since we had a limited amount of time to get them in, she only pulled the dresses that would come in time in our sizes and color. Emily was my consultant at David's Bridal on 28th street. She was great! I was worried about it being awkward, but she was so relaxed and made it a great experience for me. I narrowed it down to 2 possible choices from David's, but I didn't find "the" dress the first time I went. I'll probably be headed back soon. Overall a good experience at a fair price! read more

Although I didn't end up buying my wedding dress here, there was one that I really liked, but it was lacking sparkle. This was my first dress-shopping experience and the consultant I had was fantastic. She had long reddish-brown hair (sorry that I forgot your name.) She was running around like a mad-woman and was doing a fantastic job at keeping up. Once our appointment was nearing the end, she said that my mom and I could stay a little longer and re-try on the dresses that I liked and to take our time. As for the bridesmaid dresses, I think that they are overpriced and I wish they would offer the color that I want. (Very light aqua/water color) I also wish they would do returns and not just exchanges, especially for items still in the garment bag and never worn. They won't even do a merchandise gift-card. I'd still recommend this place, but if you are a bride, do not go on a busy day, ask for their slowest time slots. read more

***Brides, only go to this store if you want to be insulted or take care of yourself when picking out dresses. Several of the consultants are rude and unhelpful*** Below is my experience if you are interested. I went in to David's Bridal 3 weeks ago looking for bridesmaid dresses. The experience was okay but we had already picked out the dress online. Wasn't too much to do for that part of the visit. Once we switched to bridal gowns the visit turned very sour. I showed the consultant a few pictures and gave her a ballpark figure and she wrinkled her nose at me and said there was little to know selection for a lace dress around $500. I felt like my money wasn't good enough to buy there. I tried on 3 dresses and left with nothing. I went home and found several dresses on the website in the ballpark price and decided I would give it one more chance. I went back a week later with my maid of honor. We searched the racks and pulled out my own dresses and asked for a fitting room. I found "THE DRESS" in the price I wanted on the rack right next to one that I'd tried the visit before (when I was told my price point wasn't do-able). I basically had taken care of myself during the visit but at least I found my dress. I ordered it and my shoes before leaving. I was told approx. 6 weeks for delivery. They both arrived in 2 weeks. They never asked what color to dye my shoes and never told me I had to buy the garment bag for my dress. I took my mom and sister when I picked up my dress. I asked if I could try it on to show my family before leaving. The consultant was rude and condescending throughout my visit. She asked at least 4 times if I wanted a corset or slip for my dress. Every time I told her I was all set and didn't need them. My dress is very simply with shoulder straps and a 10" zipper. She insisted on telling me how to hang up the dress and wanted to show my sister how I should put my dress on. I was very insulted. I'm 34 years old and have no handicaps. I'm perfectly capable of dressing myself or putting 2 straps on a hanger. I told the consultant that I had it under control. I just wanted to show my mom. I also told her I was not wanting alterations until it gets closer to the wedding (which is over 6 months away). As I stepped out of the room the consultant started nit picking the way the dress fit me and that she could see my under garments and that I would be thoroughly embarrassed on my wedding day if I didn't buy her slip and corset. I knew I didn't have proper garments on but it was not a professional fitting or alteration appointment. I was only picking up my dress.. That was it. I knew I had a blue bra and a white dress. My moment with my family was ruined. I felt like my dress looked horrible. If that had been my "purchase" appointment I would have left without a dress. If I could return my dress I would. Erin (the consultant) was very good at making me feel like crap about being overweight. I don't know how she has a job where she should be building up a Brides confidence because there wasn't a positive word in her vocabulary. One star is generous. My time spent here was absolutely wasted. I had made an appointment to try on dresses for Monday night as I was told weeknights were much less crowded. They were right! Yet, despite this fact... Diana, who was supposed to be helping me, made me wait more than 25 minutes to start. In the two hours we were there she brought me a whopping 6 dresses to try on because she kept disappearing for long periods of time and coming back with only one dress. Not to mention, the dress would not come close whatsoever to what I described that I was looking for. I was massively disappointed by my experience altogether! Don't waste your time here. I went in to look at dresses, not planning on buying anything, just LOOKING. This was a weeknight, an hour until closing. I was helped immediately, and shown dresses in my price range and size. Melissa helped me. She was kind and patient. She did help other customers while I tried on dresses, but I didn't mind. I don't like that fact that there are no mirrors in the tiny dressing rooms, you HAVE to step outside for everyone to see you. I ended up purchasing the VERY first dress that I tried on. My first experience with David's Bridal was over 10 years ago. It sucked. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and I argued with the salesperson what dress size I would be needing. She ordered me the next size up anyway, it was too big, and then I had to pay to have it altered. Flash forward to yesterday. I am again in another wedding and the bridesmaids dresses were going to be from Davids (strictly out of convenience. The bride's dress was purchased at the WONDERFUL Becker's Bridal... trust me ladies, go there. It is SO BEYOND worth the drive). We had an 11am appointment. At 11am, the bridal party, and other bridal parties who also had appointments, stood outside the door in cold, blowing wind while watching the employees inside scurrying around, not unlocking the door. They finally open the doors late, no apologies, nothing. Everyone is shuffled inside and it is just mass chaos. There were approx 5 bridal parties with multiple people, all standing around not knowing what to do. The employee assigned to our party took our measurements in the doorway. No offer to take our coats- they didnt even have a place to put coats. So we heaped our stuff on the dirty floor, and stood there like cattle getting measurements and info taken. We were then brought to the back corner of the store, along with 25+ other women from the other parties. Along the way the employee just points and shows us where to go look for our dresses. No suggestions. Nothing. Just 'There you go. Look over there. Bye.'. *** TRUST ME when I say this is NOT acceptable. Once you go to a great bridal shop with excellent customer service, you learn that this type of treatment is crap. This isn't Kohls or Walmart. This is a place that people are dropping serious coin for a dress to be worn once, and are deserving of more hands on help and class from the employees. *** It gets better. There are a TON of dressing rooms in this place. Yet, all the bridal parties were clumped into one corner of the store, and given only one dressing room to change in per party. We again heaped all our coats and purses on the floor, and went 2 by 2 into tiny changing rooms to try to speed up the process. We requested another room, and were told no. Seriously, there was a row of rooms running the ENTIRE length of the store that were not being used, and they would not open them up for anyone. It gets better. TWO hours later, we have dresses picked and go to purchase. Stand in line forever, get to ordering... and are told 1/2 the dresses picked were NO LONGER AVAILABLE. No apologies. Just shrugging of shoulders and a crappy 'Oh well' attitude. We wasted 2 hours of our time. 2 hours of terrible customer service and terrible company policies. I don't know why people go to this place?! **Check out the David's Bridal fb page and see all the complaints! ** PLEASE BRIDES- Go to a non-chain. They are NOT more expensive- but you will be treated with respect and kindness. You will NOT feel like herded cattle. You will NOT be given high pressured sales tactics (ie- You need to order today or your dress might not get here in time!). Ugh, this place made me so mad. I am thrilled with the experience I had at this location. After ordering a dress from a different place and having many, may issues with it and ultimately not being able to wear it, I was forced to find a dress off the rack to wear to my wedding less than two months away. At first I was not excited to go to David's Bridal because I hadn't heard many good things, but the staff was terrific. I went in on a weekday in the middle of the day without an appointment and I had two people help me find gowns that they'd be able to order quickly or could sell me right off the rack. I was there for a little over a hour and find dress (they sold me a sample gown) and cannot say enough about how great their customer service was. They even brought someone in from alterations to do a quick review to make sure what I needed done was doable in a short time frame. I was very appreciative of everyone who helped me that day after I had learned that my first dress was not going to work! read more

When I went to find my Mother of the bride dresses, I was so disappointed by the service that my daughter and I received. I made an appointment but had a hard time getting our consultant to show us any dresses. We finally found one and took it to the register to order when the cashier was going to give me the dress that I tried on. The dress had beading it was perfect. At check out we noticed that the beading was coming off. We told her that we wanted a new one ordered. A new one was ordered. I picked up the dress tried it on and it was beautiful. The day of the wedding I got dressed, it fit great and it looked great.... while in the receiving line, I went to hug someone and both of the arms ripped..... then the beads stayed to come off... as the night went on more beads kept falling off.. I was horrified, embarresed.. I just spent almost $300.00 on a dress and it was coming apart... Please be careful when buying from them.. read more

I agree with all the other reviews! I wish I could give them a zero! Too bad I didn't read the reviews before I went. Customer service is terrible! The young workers were more interested in carry on a conversation with each other, than helping me. I had to ask for help after wandering throughout the store for 10 minutes and no one approaching me. Reluctantly, one showed me where the mother and mother-in-law dresses after I described what I wanted. And yes, I needed two! Even though I was told they would 'clip' the dress so it would fit, neither woman was around to help. I was left in the dressing room and never even checked on. So I hung up the dress and left. Nobody said anything as I walked past them out the door. They were too engrossed in their conversation. Maybe they should work on commission. David's Bridal needs to do a better job of hiring and training their workers! This is David's Bridal in Grand Rapids, not California! read more

I have been to David's Bridal a handful of times as a bridesmaid and most recently, a bride. I've heard a lot of negativity about David's Bridal from numerous people but still decided to try it out. 3 of the 5 times I've been there Abbie Butters has helped me and she is by far the best associate at the Grand Rapids location. Every time I've had her, she's been attentive, helpful and knowledgeable of the products. She goes above and beyond her call of duty, including staying late past her shift to help me. I would highly recommend her to help you if you're looking for a wedding gown. Abbie is definitely a great asset to your company! Although the other 2 times I've been in there were just okay, I've never had a bad experience with David's Bridal. I would definitely recommend them! read more

David's Bridal is the "fast food" of a bridal salon. My sister had called the day before and scheduled an appointment. Of course, they had no recording of her appointment time and we waited for 15 minutes for an available assistant. Tyler did a great job of listening to my sister's plan for her wedding gown and pulled dresses accordingly. The dresses he brought included one that had serious makeup stains around the neckline. That one was not chosen to be tried on. Gross! The dressing rooms are jammed in side by side and you are stepping around papers, hangers, and whatnot to find a chair. Gowns from previous fittings were all crammed on the hanger near the fitting room door. My sister had to push them out of the way to close the door. The store does not have the elegant, clean feeling like other salons. The prices are not cheaper than others, as well. The customer service has more of a feel of rush, rush. The other 3 salons we visited that Saturday, a very busy day for bridal salons, still felt like we were their only concern....even clearly with other brides/families in the shop. I would hate to see how the "fast food" alterations would be handled. The pricing for alterations was clearly higher than others.....by far! My vote: go elsewhere. There is little that would ever draw me to Davids Bridal in the future. My sister will be returning to another salon to order her beautiful gown. read more

Came here with my daughter and the bridesmaid's dress that she had ordered back in Feb, which my mother accidently ruined. Renee-the alterations manager was a tremendous help and came up with several different options....the wedding is just 4 weeks away, so options were slim. But Renee didn't give up and contacted other stores trying to find anything that would somewhat resemble the original dress (that was discontinued) and be available in under 4 weeks! I was in a panic, but after 2 hours we finally found something that would work! THANKS RENEE for saving the day! Renee was everything a customer in a panic needed....she was calm, very helpful and creative, giving us her full attention and truly helping us! read more

Unfortunately, I have to strongly discourage anyone from shopping at any David's Bridal. The customer service is embarrassingly unprofessional and buying my dress and accessories from them turned out to be completely frustrating, with special-order items not fitting and not being allowed to return them. Even after writing a letter to the president of the company, my concerns were not resolved. A very poorly-run business which is not customer focused. read more

Two words: Poor Service. I had an appointment to try on dresses at another davids bridal on the east side of the state and had an awful experience. I ended up finding my dress at a different store completely. But since I live in Grand Rapids and still needed a sash for my wedding dress, I stopped in at Davids Bridal on 28th st. I knew where the sashes were so I went straight back to them and started looking. After finding a sash I liked, I approached a group of 3 sales clerks at the front of the store. They were gossiping as I approached. I stopped facing them waiting for some sort of acknowledgement, but never received it. They continued to gossip. Two of them even made eye contact with me but again proceeded to ignore me. It must be a theme there because there were two older sales clerks gossiping unprofessionally nearby me when I had been looking at sashes. I had to approach yet another sales clerk who finally answered my questions. Also - CAUTION: They will call you on a regular basis if they have your phone number on file. It's so annoying! They also give your email address out to outside vendors. I just received an email to day stating that they got my email when i signed up at davids. I cringe at the thought of going into that store. I understand that a job is a job. But a little manners can go a long way. read more

We ordered a size 4 dress and received a size 6 that was WAY too small....there were obvious sizing errors in the dress. I called the store and was placed on hold for 25 minutes!!!! Not even exaggerating!!! I then called back and spoke to Cierra. She was helpful and friendly. We brought the dress back the next day and she went above and beyond to help us out with appropriate sizing!! She definitely helped calm my nerves!! She had great customer service skills!! read more

I would highly suggest avoiding Davids Bridal for bridesmaid dresses. I was in a wedding tonight as the maid of honor. We order and altered our dresses through Davids Bridal assuming they were the best. Our dresses were hemmed from floor length to tea length. The alterations lady neglected to take out the tulle like promised and we all look like 800 pounds. So we were forced to leave our dresses their and pick them up 2 weeks before the wedding. I also paid EXTRA to have a lingerie holder installed. This should have prevented my bra from showing. It absolutely didn't work, my bra was showing all night and it was a complete waste of money. My hem was terrible and they bunched up the zipper making my butt look funny. I know that when I get married I will avoid this place like the plague. read more

If you go to David's Bridal, ask for Abbie! She's awesome with customer service and knows what she's doing. Going to a retail chain for your bridal experience might not be ideal for everyone, but Abbie tries to make it special for you and does whatever she can to help you with what you want! I went there three times so far searching for my dress, then with my bridesmaids and felt like she was a friend already! She made it a great experience for me as a bride! read more

If you want to experience true customer service, do not go to the Grand Rapids location. Make the drive to the Port Huron David's Bridal! The gal that helped me in GR never smiled. When I showed her a picture of the dress I was interested in she said she has never seen it so it must be discontinued (even though the website stated in stores and online). So I looked for other options. When I tried a different dress on, I came out of the fitting room and she stood there with her arms crossed, no smile and says "well?". I new this wasn't the place for me. My maid of honor insisted more than once with her to check other locations for the dress I initially went to try on. There was one in Port Huron. She wrote down the phone number and said "you can call them". I did and was so glad! They were very friendly and helpful in Port Huron. It was definitely worth the 3 hour Drive! Since this experience, I have heard many stories that were similar and even worse.. The Grand Rapids location needs some training... read more

Worst experience ever. We arrived half an hour early and checked in. Was told at the front desk that they wanted to make me feel important and have all the focus on me. My bridesmaids and I pulled dresses off the rack. Not one person offered to help. Not one person offered to set them by a room so we were carrying like 7+ dresses. Our consultant comes (15 mins after our appt time & we arrived early, AND they weren't busy) and not one smile from her. Not even a handshake. Quizzing me on the dresses. Wouldn't let me try on the dresses that I or my bridesmaids picked out. Kept walking away from my bridal party & socializing with someone else. I was limited to a number of dresses. I wasn't feeling important at all. Then to end this horrible experience, she says to me "do you even want to try on dresses" NO Hannah, not anymore. Not with your negative & terrible attitude. I was excited for this experience but she ruined it for me! I found my dream dress at Renee Austin so I highly recommend them! They have such a positive and loving attitude towards the bride & guests! read more

BEWARE!!! Do not shop at this business!!!!! The most impersonal and horrible experience any bride could image. The receptionist was crude and impersonal and the consultant was worse. Shows the "big box" philosophy of bridal shopping. Consultant Jenna never asked about the groom or location or theme of the wedding. She talked nonstop about herself and her weight loss and exercise goals and knew exactly what my daughter was going through shopping for a dress as she went through all this a year ago. She went on to tell details of her own wedding and wouldn't allow us one moment to think or consider our own thoughts on the dress or accessories. Every accessory we looked at she cut down and said "wouldn't work" etc. It was constant self absorption on her part and repeated up-selling the entire appointment. She even told us if we didn't purchase the dress at this appointment that she wouldn't get commission on the sale. We did not purchase the dress from them. I called and spoke with the store manager the next day and she said she would address it but honestly, it was too late to take the horrible experience back and there is no way to rectify it. There are too many beautiful bridal boutiques in our area with similar priced gowns to tolerate terrible service on a day most women have anticipated their whole life to experience. No women needs to be treated this way when spending hard earned money on a wedding dress. It's not only the dress but the experience and needless to say, you never want to experience David's Bridal. They were helpful while I was in the store, but the dress that I really wanted wasn't available. I bought my second choice, but when I got home I looked my first choice up on the David's Bridal website and it was available there. I purchased it, and called the next day to see if I could return the one that I had purchased since they had told me that it wasn't available. I felt like the service that I received at that point was not good. I felt like they questioned if I had really had them look it up at first, but then they realized that it wasn't available through the store and knew that I had. They were able to get an override to get it for the store. Then, they told me that I had to return my online purchase and pay for the dress through their store, and do an exchange. I ended up just keeping the second dress, because I'm the mother of the bride and I have a lot on my plate right now to begin with. I have four more daughters left that may be having weddings, but I'm not sure that I'll return to David's Bridal for them. I enjoyed my experience in the store. The staff is great while you are there, but you just have to be absolutely positive of your purchase before you leave the store. I don't think it's their fault. It's just the policy. It makes things hard if you have any issues after your purchase. read more

This location has POOR customer service! A sales associate gave away my dress to another person and had the nerve to tell the bride that I was very irritated... Some associates there are very nice, but they should do a better job at delivering excellent service overall. read more
