Today I went to Davids with my mom, aunt, cousin and sister to get a wedding gown for my mom and bridesmaids dresses for the rest of us. Finding bridesmaids dresses was a little frustrating, but that's because we wanted dresses from the clearance racks instead of ordering. Our consultant Lexi was wonderful from start to finish. She was very patient with us while she got talked over top of in all of the excitement. She was very patient with my mother who ended up with a COMPLETELY different look than she had thought she wanted. She brought over a million different dresses, helped my mom try them on while at the same time helping us with our dresses. I'm certain that Lexi is the only reason we walked out with all the dresses we needed, hair pieces, and shoes. My mom has a gorgeous gown, we have adorable dresses, and we didn't spend thousands. My mom was a huge ball of nerves and not at all excited to be trying on dresses, but thanks to lexi she had a fun, successful dress shopping experience. Thank you for making our experience a great one!! This is the fourth time I've been to this location, three times for dresses and once for an alteration, and every time my experience has been great. Please understand that you are not the only person in the store, you're not the only customer. Your consultant will have no motivation to be around you if all you do is complain about how busy they seem. If you're nice and understanding, I guarantee you'll get better service. This is not a small designer boutique, they have to deal with appointments as well as walk ins. Be patient with your consultant and they will be patient with you! read more

I greatly enjoyed my experience so much at David's that I decided to work there to make some extra money before my wedding. I was a bit nervous after looking at other reviews online and than quickly realized that the only people who take the time to voice their opinions online are those you are not happy. That is also about the same time I started posting on here so that there are positive reviews for others as well. Only negative reviews do not tell a full story. None the less I have now worked at Davids for nearly two years and LOVE IT! I cannot agree in anyway to the comment of poor customer service as those I work with do nothing but care about the brides. Our goal is for each and every bride to love her wedding gown and accessories and to make everything perfect for her big day. The best advice I can give anyone is that an appointment is needed, there is the possibility your consultant maybe working with another bride at the same time, give yourself enough time to order your items and get alterations if needed, listen to all the details that are provided by the consultant (yes there are many but they are important), items must be paid for in full to be ordered as they are being made for you and keep in mind that in the bridal world all sales are final (this is also on every receipt that is reviewed before you leave the store). I was very unhappy with my visit to this store, as was the rest of my family. We went to shop for my wedding dress and the experience was nothing like I had expected. No one asked me what I was looking for in a dress; style, color, or price range. I was trying on dresses that were pretty far out of my range but that's all she brought me. My family was trying to pick out dresses for me to try on that were more my style and in my range and she actually took them from them and put them back on the rack. It was unbelievable! It was all about what she thought I should be wearing. We went on a weeknight hoping to have a little more of a personal experience but she was still working with another party and was continuously called up to the service counter. She wasn't around to help pin any of the dresses because she was with other people. I just felt unimportant and when I am there to buy the dress for the biggest day of my life I want to feel like I matter. It was like they just wanted the transaction and did not care how I felt about the dress. They were trying to pressure me to buy a dress that I wasn't happy with. It was a very frustrating experience. I ended up going to Alfred Angelo and had an amazing experience and found an amazing dress. I would not send anyone to David's Bridal. I even cancelled my bridesmaids appt because I was so unhappy with the customer service here. read more

My friend convinced me to go to Davids AGAIN, because I have still not found the dress I am going to wear for my daughters wedding. She went last year there and had a wonderful time and found everyone very helpful. I purchased my daughters wedding gown there as well and had a great time, but when we went shopping for her attendant dresses it was horrible! I went this weekend and it was the worst shopping experience of my life! Not to mention there was a horrible man who smiled at peoples faces but when he turned away he made awful faces. The store was so full of people and not one customer or employee looked happy to be there. I think if you are going to work at a Bridal shop you should at least have to look like you like your job. I found one dress I would have considered purchasing but it was considered laughable by a young women who works there for me to consider trying it on if I didn't have an appointment, even though this same young woman just walked around not helping anyone and there was a room with no one in it. I don't care how good your prices are, if you are not nice, if you are not helpful you won't get my busieness, Not to mention but I wouldn't want the opinion of any of the employees there based on what they were wearing and how tight their clothes were. DO NOT GO HERE. I had an appointment that was originally set for 1:00pm, but I had gone on the website to change it shortly after to 1:30pm. I got a confirmation email that stated the new time, and showed up right on time to this location. The first front receptionist was incredibly rude to my bridesmaids and I, telling us that we were 30 mins late. I took a minute to pull up the email as proof on my phone, and by that time, a much more polite receptionist had come up to look. However, as I was showing her and she was explaining that it must have been an error with their system, the original receptionist was rolling her eyes and sneering at me, complaining that her shift had ended and she was supposed to be leaving. On top of that, the place was an absolute zoo. Even with an appointment, it took 30 mins before we were actually helped. When she did come to help, she didn't even help us find any dresses. We grabbed dresses that we thought we may have liked, and tried them on almost completely alone. As we were leaving, I saw advertisements for a sale that was going on that knocked $20 off the cost of bridesmaid dresses, this was never told to us. We left and purchased the dresses at the very next place we went to, Bridal Elegance, which is AMAZING. read more

I had an appointment to look for my wedding dress on a Saturday morning at 9:30. I was helped by Katrina, who made my experience one that I won't forget! I am getting married in November in a small courthouse wedding, followed by a family dinner at a nice restaurant. We are keeping our occasion very small and intimate so I was worried the consultant might not take me as seriously as other brides. I was looking for a short wedding dress that would be appropriate for November weather. Katrina not only took me seriously but she made me feel incredibly special. I have to admit, at first when I saw the dresses she pulled for me, I was worried. I didn't think any of them would be what I was looking for. Katrina definitely knows what she is doing. As it turned out, each one was better than the one before. I ended up getting the perfect dress for my little wedding. Not once while I was there did I encounter anyone who seemed rude or unhappy. Even the other brides that were trying on dresses were getting helped by someone who seemed to really care and be listening to their customer. Some of the negative reviews had me worried, but I would say that my experience was the best it could have been. David's Bridal is worth a shot! read more

I made an appointment to try on wedding gowns because up in Traverse City, where I am from, I was just not getting the kind of attention and help I was looking for. I made my appointment for the following day and Abbie was the associate who helped me. She was AMAZING. She helped me to get on all of the dresses and picked out dresses for me to try. The dress I ended up buying, wasn't even on my list of the ones I had chosen online, but it looked great! The way they treated me was so different than the place I had gone in TC. It was like night and day. Abbie showed how a bride should be treated. She didn't try to shove me into too small gowns and she was very honest (because I asked) about how the dresses looked on me. As a bigger girl, it made me feel good that she would be willing to tell me honestly how I looked rather than telling me I looked good in all of them to get a sale. I wasn't planning on buying a dress when I went to try them on, but I ended up purchasing one anyway because of the great service I received from Abbie and the selection they had there. She kept it under my budget and I couldn't be happier with what I bought. read more

First of all, I would suggest that this is the best time of year to visit Davids. It was not nearly as busy as I have seen in the past and there are no lines at the cash register. I was in as a bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding and we were looking at dresses for us girls. The consultant was extremely helpful and gave us many great ideas for coordinating colors and styles on our many different body types. This was one of my best experiences at any davids Bridal. I am actually from the Detroit area and our stores aren't nearly as well kept and friendly. I would definitely visit this location again to work with Katrina. The store is obviously new and does have a younger group of staff but things do seem to move along. The selection of dresses and colors are great. It was also helpful to have an alterations staff member come out and talk to us about all our options. We did not have an appointment though, so I would suggest to make one especially if you're there during the busiest times. All in all amazing, helpful consultant and great ideas were planned to complete the wedding. read more

I wish I could rate this store at a 0. I am a former employee of three years at this location who left on great terms and I am ashamed of having had worked here. The company over all was a pleasure to work for, but this location turned out to be awful. As some may know, the company had been purchased a few times within the past 4 years. These changes have been a struggle. The most unfortunate part has been the multiple times this location has changed its management. With all the changes, concentrating on the customer has taken less and less priority. The priority (at this location) isn't finding the perfect wedding dress. The priority is getting as many people in the store, getting them to buy, and getting them out as quick as possible. This is unacceptable! On a positive side: The consultants and csr's are miracle workers making the best of a bad situation and genuinely care about your experience.. Until management changes and cares more about the customer than making money, I strongly advise you to take your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

I really wish we would have read the reviews for this David's Bridal location before we went. My sister made an appointment to try on wedding dresses for her upcoming nuptials and after arriving we found out that our consultant was actually the cousin of one of my sister's bridesmaids. Instead of that making things more casual and fun it opened the door for our consultant to repeatedly give her opinion to my family about her distaste for certain colors and styles of wedding gowns, which just happened to be what my sister was requesting (and mysteriously not being brought). Our consultant was rude, combative, and constantly questioned my sister's wants. She actually went on a six-minute spiel about the traditions of "white wedding dresses" and reasons why brides don't need them. After being pressured to buy a dress hundreds of dollars out of her price range we finally managed to escape with promises to look online at their other styles. Thankfully we ended up at another bridal salon that gave her the attention she deserved. read more

I used David's Bridal for my bridesmaids' dresses, and had a great experience! I made an appointment and went in with my mom and sisters who were also bridesmaids. We had a dedicated salesperson who helped us pick dresses and navigate the store for styles/colors/sizes. My sisters had so much fun trying on different dresses, and there was plenty of room for my mom and I to sit and watch them come out to model the various dresses. The store was open, bright, and clean, which made it enjoyable to shop in. We decided on a dress that day, and it was easy for the rest of my bridesmaids living far apart to go to their local David's Bridal to try on the dress (which could be looked up by my name), order the correct size, and either pick it up in store or get it shipped to their house. The dress was affordable and of good quality, and they all looked great at my wedding! read more

I had the MOST AMAZING experience with Janelle. I have tried on AT LEAST 45 wedding dresses and dealt with around 15 bridal consultants since October and Janelle was the most AMAZING of them all and the only one who got me to purchase TWO wedding dresses. She spent 3 hours a day for two separate days totalling 6 hours with me, helping me in and out of dress after dress and I was soo close to giving up but she just would not let me settle!! Refused to let me settle for "it's ok." She wanted to hear I love it. And just by the look on my face she would say "Nope. You don't love it." whip it off and on to the next one. She was super fun and super patient with this me, the most indecisive bride and I could not have done it without her. She is definitely invited to the wedding! Thanks Janelle! I had so much fun looking for my dress at David's bridal the other day! A friend and I made a spur of the moment decision to stop in there as we happened to be passing through Grand Rapids on a road trip. I looked up the phone number online and with only ten minutes notice they were able to fit me in. Abbie was very helpful and understood exactly what I was looking for and what was in my price range. I tried about 5 dresses that we're similar to what I was looking for and then told her to bring me a surprise. Surprise it was, as it ended up being my wedding dress! The other ladies that work there came around often to offer suggestions and answer questions. Now I am SO excited to wow my husband to be in the dress that matches my soul. I purchased my wedding dress just under 2 years ago. The whole time I have been amazed every time I came back for my appointments how much fun I had & how much help I got. Every time was just as great as the last. Over the 2 years I only had Abby & she is awesome. She knows exactly what I want & knows what my vision is. Abby is great with my wedding party & really makes sure they get what they want. I have referred other friends of mine that are getting married too, to Abby. I get attention from other staff when they walk by. I would go back to this location if I needed any other dresses/shoes/accessories for any special occasions after my wedding. I will make the dive & refer people. I don't get pressured to buy more then what I need or more then what I can afford. They work with your budget & they make it fun to be there. read more

I purchased my wedding dress from this location. The staff was absolutely wonderful. I was greeted right away and my appointment started right at 12:30 that I signed up for. The stylist that helped me (Abbie Butters) was fantastic! I showed her the styles of dresses I was looking for and even exact dresses that I wanted to try on. She knew right away what they did and didn't have, so I didn't need to wait for her to look for the dresses. She did not pressure me into any sales that I did not feel necessary which was awesome because so many sales people are too pushy. I found the dress I loved after only trying on the second one and got an amazing deal on it. I was scared to go here after reading the reviews, but I had a very enjoyable experience and would recommend Abbie to any future bride! =) read more

I had a really great experience with David's Bridal. I worked with Abbie, who really knew her stuff. She was very straight forward, helpful, and encouraging. She stayed within my price range, she helped me organize so I wasn't overwhelmed, and she was very respectful of how I wanted my gown shopping experience to be. It is SO important to take their advice and not come on Saturdays! The stores are packed and consultants do the best they can to help, but of course it can end up feeling a little crazy. BE FORWARD, if you enjoyed working with someone, tell them - they will make an effort to work with you again. If not, tell them why it was frustrating! Ashley and her team were really amazing. I am in Grand Rapids visiting my Mom and two sister in laws who are bridesmaids. We originally had our appointment at 4:30 and they allowed us to move our appointment up to three. Once we got there Ashley made sure we got settled quickly and began to pull options and discuss them as we went. I am not the kind of girl who has known what kind of dress I wanted since I was five, and Ashley was able to understand that and helped me get excited. She was able to make me feel comfortable and we ended up finding The Dress! I would recommend people give this David's bridal a fresh opportunity and allow themselves to form their own opinion. I am a second time bride over the age of 50. It was hard for me to go into a salon with all the young brides. After having a bad experience last week I decided to go to David's Bridal My fiance went with me as I no longer have family. I had my appointment with Katrina. She made my experience special. She was patient, kind and respectful. When She helped me into my 4th dress I looked at it and knew it was the one. She told me I was glowing but never pushed. I had found my dress but it was the treatment of the staff from the minute I walked in till I left. Mario from mens tux shop was there. He is fabulous. I work at David's Bridal, it is a great place to work and my co-workers are a great group of ladies who are very professional. In my experience, making appointments is essential. We only have so many people working at a time, and only so many rooms. Each employee gets 2-3 rooms a day to work with. Usually one for a bride, one for a bridal party, and one over flow. Do not bring in 12 people with you for your appointment if you expect everyone to sit down. We have 22 chairs for everyone to share. It's recommended to start dress shopping a year before the event. Order times can be anywhere from 6-20 weeks. If you need any alterations, those need done 2 months before the wedding. Majority of our problems comes from people ordering too close to the event. read more
