A really nice catering facility, half rustic and half modern. The bar side is a little more rustic, with a 300-year-old bar (with a sign asking folks not to sit on it...maybe some people get a little crazy with the partying!) and ample seating for cocktail hour. A really nice espresso machine sits at the end of the room. Drinks were good, bartenders were efficient, and the cocktail hour nibbles were all tasty, especially the fried calamari and the coconut shrimp. The reception side has an ample dance floor, plenty of room for tables, and a balcony across one side of the room that allows a bride and groom to walk across and down a set of stairs. All of the servers seemed to be wonderful and the food was quite good, especially the salmon. read more

David's Country Inn was the first venue my now-wife and I toured, and it should have been the only one we toured. We did look at others for the sake of due diligence, but none of them had all of the services we were looking for at the reasonable price point we needed. Forget anything good I have to say about David's Country Inn; my guests and vendors are the ones you should hear from. Even my mother - who can be a bit of a snob at times (sorry, mom) - commented during the wedding, "This venue is GORGEOUS!" A friend of mine who fancies himself a foodie declared, "The food is so. Good." As for our vendors, seriously, every single one of them lit up as soon as we told them that our wedding would be taking place at David's. Our photographer remarked, "I love working at David's. They treat vendors so well and they are so accommodating." That, I can confirm. They make the entire planning process easy to understand and easy to execute. On the day of, you will feel like the guest of honor and not the host, and that's just the way they want it. Here's something one doesn't plan for when putting a wedding together: the groom getting wax all of the back of his pants. Through no fault of the venue and entirely because of my own clumsiness, I backed my butt into a lit candle during the reception and got wax all down the back of my suit. I had no idea this happened until our event coordinator from the venue politely pulled me aside and told me what had happened. I figured he was just giving me a heads up and that my suit would be ruined but the evening would progress. Instead, our coordinator took me up to the private area for the wedding parties and proceeded to expertly clean my suit of all wax and save it from certain destruction. I've read and re-read our contract dozens of times; that was not a clause that was in there, but the entire team at David's is so committed to their clients that they will go above and beyond whenever the moment calls for it. They also pack all of your decor up for you at the end of the night and leave it for you to be picked up the next day, which takes so much pressure off that last hour of the evening and makes getting back to the hotel an absolute breeze. We had the most incredible experience working with Brandon and the staff at DCI. The venue is so gorgeous and unique, and has such character and charm (which makes for great photos even on a rainy day!). The whole staff is so accommodating and take such good care of you on your big day. They are flexible, fun, positive, detail oriented, and caring. My best friend got married at this venue on 3/26/22 DCI BLEW me away! I had low expectations after hearing about the remodel but it's so beautiful. Truly the most amazing venue. I barely got to eat the dinner but what I did eat was incredible. The pecan crusted chicken was fantastic. The avocado bacon egg rolls during cocktail hour were my saving grace. While getting ready in the Warren suite, we had fresh pastries (amazing. Chocolate croissants are my fave) and yogurt parfaits. The ENTIRE bridal party was raving about these yogurt parfaits. It sounds so trivial but they were just out of this world. One bridesmaid said some expletives about how delicious these parfaits were and about the person that made them that are such high compliments. Seamus was in charge of a lot of things and he handled it all flawlessly. More than one person had a crush on him ;) The bridal attendant, Maggie, is an angel. She was at the venue from 6am helping everything be flawless. She handled crisises with ease and knew not to disturb the bride (I partnered with her and took care of them like champs). She kept checking on us, had everything we could think of and more. During the reception she became a server too. She kept making sure I ate. When my air brush makeup started flaking off in chunks, she found makeup wipes for me. The rest of the staff were all fantastic as well, I just had to shout out the two extraordinary people. My Dad moved in with my step-mom when I was about 12 years old- not far from Main Street in Hackettstown. Since then, I knew I always wanted my wedding there. So when the day finally came, I knew I had to call immediately. David's Inn is one of the most intimate, beautiful wedding venues I had ever seen (I'm in the wedding industry myself). I didn't want the basic large venue, with white walls that look like every wedding venue. I love the creeky floors, dark wood, and fireplaces- and I specifically wanted Halloween weekend. David's was so accommodating and was able to fit us in within the week for a quick tour (although not needed) and we wrote the check right then and there for our wedding. No other venues were looked at! The pandemic hit immediately after our deposit. We had over a year and a half to plan, but it was nerve-racking. Luckily, Sarah and Hannah were with me every step along the way. Every question, concern was answered within 24 hours or less. Timelines were provided which made the process SO easy as there was no question when or what was due at what time. And when I say they will let you do anything to make sure your day is what you imagined- I mean anything! My day was spent in the amazing Warren Suite (the groom got ready at my Dad's house to give us the entire suite) with all 11 of my bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, 3 additional family members getting ready there, and 3 mom's. We also had 5 hair and makeup people and our photography team. We had so much space, the girls loved being able to relax on the couches, or have a sandwich in the kitchen and that we weren't on top of each other. The food was great! Our get-ready photos are so cute because of the style of the Warren Suite! I also loved that I had my own private bridal room for my dress and photos before my grand entrance to my bridesmaids. Once the groomsmen were ready they were able to come over to the second floor and have a drink while they waited for us. There was no issue with spacing or set up or issues with the timeline thanks to the great layout of David's Inn. Of course, we wanted the GORGEOUS outdoor area, but our wedding day was a monsoon. The entire staff worked to get the ceremony inside within a few short hours. I was nervous but it looked absolutely beautiful. Outdoors the chairs were removed, where we did our first look and the background photos are so unique and beautiful! After the ceremony, during the cocktail hour, the staff flipped the room in ONE HOUR, ONE HOUR! to a reception area. Cocktail hour was a huge hit- everyone is STILL talking about it. ("Those tomato soup/grilled cheese shooters were insane!"). Our guests loved sitting in the other room with the fireplaces, walking around the front porch and their jaws dropped when re-entering the reception room to see how it had changed. Also fun fact- we get compliments on our dinner selections all the time BUT, our vegetarian friend reached out separately to say how he always hates wedding dinners because the vegetarian options are so bland and boring or not cooked well. He said the pasta primavera was the BEST wedding dinner he had in a long time! Hannah and the staff made sure Ryan and I never *not* had a drink in our hands, or food in our stomachs. We were truly treated like royalty. At the end of the night, we had shake shack burgers laid out for guests on the way to the shuttles- a lifesaver before the after-party at the hotel! Overall, I could never have imagined my wedding taking place at any other venue. To quote one of my friends, "that ceremony was one of the most romantic I had ever seen between the lighting and candles". Not a moment went by that we did not feel like the most important people in the world, and if you're like me and want to limit your decorations, David's Inn's beauty speaks for itself. Appetizers of coconut shrimp (delicious), spicy chicken sliders were so good, and the fresh sliced pastrami was amazing -- an item you rarely see offered in restaurants or at cocktail parties. Lots of other "cocktail hour" food. All of it very good. The entrees of either poached salmon or filet Migon were both cooked perfectly, especially for such a large crowd of over 150 people. My husband and I had our wedding at David's Country Inn this past weekend, 6/3/23, and it was truly the best day of our lives! From the time I arrived, the David's staff were present and ready to help me bring all my belongings inside. The entire wedding party used the Warren Suite to get ready (they can split it for the guys and girls), and not only did it make for a roomy and comfortable getting ready space, but it was even great for photos! My photographer ended up doing out detail photos and my bridal portraits in the suite! We also got the continental lunch for everyone and it was delicious! We were unable to do a rehearsal before the day, but Sarah, our event coordinator took the entire wedding party to do a rehearsal while my husband and I did our first look and couple portraits. I never had to worry about timing or where things were, because Sarah was on top of it all night! Our guests raved about the beauty of the venue, the food, and the service. The food was all incredible and service was truly unmatched. We had an unfortunate event happen where one of our guests had to be taken to the hospital. The David's staff took care of everything, packaged up their dinners, and even picked up our guest from the hospital to transport them back to their hotel. Where to begin... Getting married at David's Country Inn was an absolute DREAM! I truly cannot say enough good things about this majestic, elegant venue. It is a hidden gem (if you're familiar with the area) My husband and I got married here in August of 2022 and from the moment we booked, we immediately knew we were in good hands. Hannah was our wedding coordinator and literally took care of everything for us. From seating charts, to décor forms, she was so calm and organized the entire time. The staff put so much care and effort into details whether big or small. My now brother-in-law has a fish allergy and they went above and beyond putting us at ease to make sure his salad/entrée was safe for him to eat. Something that was really important to me was a bridal room to get ready in. David's of course had THE MOST charming suite on the third floor of their venue. Rustic yet classy, the suite had plenty of room (vanities, closets, kitchen, baths) to utilize while getting ready. Lovely décor all around, the Warren suite was definitely one of my favorites and I'd totally move into it tomorrow LOL. My bridal attendant was Brenda, and she was absolutely amazing! You could tell she really cared about us having the perfect day. Little things like giving me her number to text her if we need anything brought up, to having a good eye in knowing where to place décor to setting up the entire ballroom beautifully, to bringing up lemons for our tea, she was fantastic! Our Maîtred was Lisa and she was so kind, sweet and professional. She took such good care of us the entire night. She too cared so much about things running smooth. From grabbing my bouquet before our first dance, to helping us with our cake cutting, to making sure we were running on time for photos, toasts, dinner, etc. she was wonderful! Where do I even start with David's food!! Not only incredible food for a wedding venue but better than most restaurants. They have soo many delicious options to choose from. We ended up having a private cocktail hour on the second floor and immediately after ceremony, we were brought up there where they had mini chaffing dishes all set up with all of our hors d'oeuvres. It was so special! I also LOVED how our sweetheart table was this beautiful champagne velvet couch that we sat in together instead of two separate chairs. How romantic is that?! And our table was rectangular shaped with a glass top and a simple lace runner. Perfect area for the two of us (instead of a round table). You seriously don't even need ANY additional décor in my opinion at this venue. That is how breathtaking David's really is! We got to walk down from their beautiful balcony when we got introduced into our reception which made us feel like celebrities! I came here for my cousins wedding. First the top floor suite is baller. The girls got ready in their own special room and we got ready in the main room which sports two chesterfield couches and a shuffleboard table. Having gotten there around noon for a 5pm wedding we definitely broke that table one. The main room is nothing special but it's nice. I think the nicest room is the bar, it's got stained glass and a piano, and has a very old timey feel. I really loved that bar. The food at the place was pretty good. I liked there cocktail hour, there was a table for cheese that was missed until the end of the cocktail hour because it wasn't in a good location. They did have bacon wrapped scallops and steak with blue cheese which were awesome. The dinners they had were pretty good they had chateaubriand, lamb chops and a chicken dish. I had the lamb chops they were good covered in a strange sauce that I was indifferent about, but the lamb chops were still good. They brought out some mint jelly to, not my thing but my sister love lamb chops with that. All in all this was a pretty nice place and they food was pretty good. The drinks were poured pretty heavy, and they had some great scotch on hand, but stay away from the gin & tonics. I had one made with flat tonic, and another made with seltzer water, they were disgusting and I went back to scotch which wasn't a bad thing. read more

Additionally, I chose ALL of my vendors based on David's preferred vendors (with the exception of hair and makeup) and I HIGHLY recommend others to do so as well. David's endorses some of the top vendors in NJ and their knowledge of the venue itself and how David's operates made everything cohesive throughout our wedding day. Monika with Fleurs Divine does the flowers for David's and I was in awe at the bouquet that she put together for me and my bridesmaids and our centerpieces. Now, something to note is that your centerpieces are included with David's Country Inn, a detail which was a major selling point for my husband and I. With this, you can upgrade the size of your centerpieces for very reasonable prices. Another side note was that I did not know exactly what my flowers would look like but trusted Monika's artistic talents and she absolutely knocked it out of the park, so many friends and family completely impressed with how the arrangements came out, as was I! I spent about half of what brides will spend on flowers and had the most amazing flowers ever. ALSO, Monika breaks down the centerpieces at the end of the evening and they are given out as a part of the wedding favors! Now for the reception, the service was absolutely impeccable. David's servers are some of the most attentive and professional servers I've ever experienced at a wedding. Their attention to detail and identification of the needs of you & your guests are just amazing. For example, I'm gluten-free, and one of the servers noticed I was not taking many of passed hors-d'oeuvres, she made a point of putting together a plate for me of gluten-free items and finding me with this plate, I was SO appreciative that she took such good care of me! This extends to Debbie as well because she made sure that there were plenty of gluten-free options for me and that everything I was served was gluten-free as well. Additionally, other comments guests made were that if a guest enjoyed a certain hors-d'oeuvre and the server ran out, they would find that guest first when they refilled their tray, making the guest feel personally attended to. As the bride and groom, we never had an empty glass and it was as though David's could read our minds and made predictions about what we would potentially need and it would appear. Once dinner was served, the servers would even go around the room and put covers on our guest's dishes who were out on the dance floor or in the restroom so that their food was kept warm. These gestures thoroughly impressed all of our guests, many stating it was the best wedding they've been to. The food was to die for. Our guests raved about some of the hors-d'oeuvres such as the peach and goat cheese tarts, the bacon wrapped filet with gorgonzola, the coconut shrimp, among many other items. Some guests even tried to go home and recreate these culinary masterpieces right after the wedding! For our main entrees, we had filet mignon and salmon, and guests raved about both. My husband and I were actually able to eat dinner, he had the steak and I had the salmon and both were just delicious. We also did the Venetian Hour (which adds a 1/2 of time onto your event) and everyone was freaking out over all of the dessert options, international coffees, and wedding cake. Palermo's does David's wedding cakes (it's included!) and the cake was seriously the best wedding cake I've had at any wedding. I even had my own gluten-free side cake and it was absolutely delicious. I will be raving about my wedding at David's Country Inn for the rest of my life. They truly made all my dreams come true and I cannot express my gratitude enough for making my day absolutely perfect. A gem in the heart of New Jersey. We had the pleasure of attending a wedding this past weekend at the newly redesigned David's Country Inn. When searching for adjectives, flawless comes to mind readily. Every detail was considered in putting together the outdoor venue, making the setting both comfortable and elegant. In a continuation of dichotomy, the fountains have beautiful fire displays erupting from the water. It is magnificent. The indoor venue is no different. It is beautifully laid out, and allows for people to enjoy the party while also sneaking away to more quiet rooms; however in doing so, they never really leave the party. It's a great way for people to enjoy the festivities while getting to know each other. And the food. Ah the food. Spectacular! The happy hour boasted candied bacon, seafood, a pasta chef, and hor d'oeuvres galore that eclipsed most wedding's entrees (but not this one!). It was hard not to ruin my appetite for the main course! When dinner was served, a real salad came out, not the traditional couple of leaves, a tomato, and a splash of dressing. The salad was primo--elegantly laid out with a myriad of flavors mixed in, giving it a very full and round flavor. The lettuce may very well have just been plucked from the garden and rinsed moments before being set in front of me. As a main course, surf and turf was the feature. A gorgeous sous vide angus filet, cooked to a perfect medium rare temperature from end to end, alongside a lobster tail really topped off what had already been an exquisite adventure for the pallet. All of the perfection was rounded off by the beauty of the venue that surrounded us. Everything. Literally everything, was Grade-A, top-of-the-line, unparalleled excellence. My husband and I got married at David's just a few days ago on April 6. I don't know where to begin! Everything was perfect and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was better than we could have ever dreamed of. The food was delicious too! We added a Mac and cheese bar, the shake shack (mini milk shakes and sliders), a raw bar, and a candy bar to our event as well and everyone loved it! We are hard to please when it comes to food and David's nailed it! The servers are so sweet and made sure my husband and I got to try everything. We were never without food or a drink! (Special thanks to Rob for taking care of us during the reception!) We also rented the Warren Suite which is beautiful and so convenient for the bridal party to get ready. Dan was our event coordinator and he was always two steps ahead of us. He made everything simple and left nothing out. He has a vast knowledge of the business while remaining personable and pleasant to work with. I can only imagine how stressful it might be to coordinate a wedding but he never showed that. We felt relaxed throughout the entire planning process and the day of. Jordan and Chris are amongst the kindest people we have ever met. They truly care about each event they have and it shows. It was really important to us to have our wedding somewhere that has history and is well cared for and David's checks those boxes thanks to Jordan and Chris. We would also like to thank Deborah for making sure our event went smoothly (there were literally zero issues and everyone was shocked at how well everything we went!) We had about 180 people so that leaves a lot of room for error but there was nothing that went wrong! She guided our bridal party through the ceremony with ease and made the ceremony flawless. I could go on forever about how amazing my experience was at David's Country Inn. I got married on February 25th, 2023 and from the minute we toured with Sarah, we knew it was the venue for us. She was incredible throughout the whole planning process and on the day of. We received countless compliments on the food and how stunning the venue was inside and out. So many people from the area kept saying "this is such a hidden gem". Every vendor that they recommended was incredible and we seriously had our dream day. My brother and sister-in-law were recently married here. I didn't know much about it prior, except from passing the big white building as I went through downtown Hackettstown. I thought the place was incredible. The service was on point; we were all taken care of by Carolyn, who was there to bring the guys cases of beer as they got ready, help when I lost my phone and instruct us on where to stand and walk as the reception and ceremony begun. The bridal suites were also large and accomomdating for photographers, the bridal party, family and getting ready. The food was delicious. From the appetizers to the buffet dinner, the options were endless. A carnivore or vegetarian would have no problem finding something from the endless menu to choose from. The atmosphere is elegant and charming. It's not a place that ridiculously over-the-top weddings might take place. It's personal, warm and inviting. The decor is that almost of a large older house with a beautiful bar and roaring fire to enjoy your cocktails and hors d'oeuvre. It has a lovely rustic feel. The dance floor was big enough for 150 guests and the stairs where the bride and groom make their entrance is unforgettable. read more

We had our wedding party on Sunday at David's Country Inn and it was amazing!! The staff, food, ambiance and overall wonderful vibe was uplifting. Sarah Jones our event coordinator, did an incredible job from start to finish, we had to reschedule the date and it was a seamless process. Dan & Seamus were also there on Sunday ensuring that everything ran according to plan and it was perfect, a word I do not use lightly! Chris, the owner, and the entire team made us feel well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, highly recommend the salmon for an entree selection! We were married at David's Country Inn on June 30th, and the entire experience was outstanding. From the moment we opened the doors at our initial venue tour to the end of our event as the burlap wrapped flower favors were passed to our guests, David's made sure our wedding day was everything we hoped for and more. Having previously attended weddings where the food was mediocre in venues that ranged from gaudy, to stale, to unremarkable, high quality food and an atmosphere with character and charm were our highest priorities. We very much viewed the venue as a reflection of us to our guests, so it was important that we felt confident the staff would deliver top-notch service with impeccable attention-to-detail. We quickly knew that David's offered the ambiance we wanted, and the reviews for the food were stellar without exception. Still, selecting a venue can be a daunting task. We did our due diligence online, decided to take the plunge with David's, and we are very happy we did! In addition to the fresh, high quality, generously apportioned food options and beautiful historic building, the collaborative "roll up your sleeves" mentality really set apart the team at David's. We met the owners, Jordan and Chris, at our tasting, and they were completely present, approachable, and eager to address any questions. They were also in the trenches with the rest of the staff (including our wedding coordinator) making sure that tasting attendees had all needs met. Our main point of contact/wedding coordinator was Dan. From our first email to the last (and there were many!), Dan was very extremely responsive and helpful. No matter how long our list of questions, we always had complete answers within 12 hours, and you could feel the smile and enthusiasm in each of his replies. On the day of our wedding, we noticed that Dan not only supervised everything but also actively helped out the serving staff to ensure everything went smoothly. Our event itself was fantastic. Some of the people who attended can be extremely nit-picky. However, EVERYONE was very satisfied. People universally commented that David's was not only a beautiful space, but that the food was also incredible, adding that they were impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the obvious pride they take in their work. read more

generally well done. the Warren suite was a very nice and the attendant was fantastic. The happy hour was great the food was exactly as we had selected at the tasting dinner. Dinner however included a dish dinner that was terrible. I've never had fish (snapper) that was rubbery, everyone that had it had the same is. The other selection was chicken and that was very good. I would have expected more personal service for my wife and I since we were hosting the dinner. Although the marriage couple was attended too. Given that it was acceptable. The venue is a nice choice but avoid the fish and you'll be very happy with your choice read more

We found all the good things we read about this venue were true when it came to holding our daughter's wedding reception for 150 people. David's is family owned, does one event per night, and gives you their total and complete attention. The old-fashioned bar was a hit, the appetizers great, and the dinner very good. If you want something that does not look like the inside of a big box, this is a great place to go. In terms of planning, we found they were very easy to work with, especially Dan Weiss. Having done many hundreds of receptions, he knew how to listen to what our daughter wanted and make suggestions that made the process smoother and easier for everyone involved. He was flexible and smart, and made it easy for us to enjoy the evening instead of having to make decisions or take charge of issues. We really valued that. read more

We just had our wedding at David's Country Inn on 11/15/19 and I can confidently say, the entire staff played a big part in making it the happiest day of our lives. From the very first meeting with Debbie, we felt welcomed and at ease, like we had known her for years. She has such a calming temperament and was so patient with me through each and every step of planning our big day. During the planning process, no matter the obstacle (and there were only small ones), Deb was always there with a solution and a reassuring word. I didn't have to worry, because I knew Deb and her team had me covered. Seamless would be a great word to describe how the day panned out. David's staff thinks of every little detail and executes it to near perfection! There is also something welcoming about it being a family-owned business- you really get a sense of how much the people working there care about you, your guests, and each other. They worked so well as a team to make sure things went off just as we hoped. The co-owner, Chris Falzarano, and Dan Weiss, our officiant, were also a big part of the success of the day. I remember Chris coming over to our table at the tasting to introduce himself and ask about our wedding day. It was that small personal touch that really made him stand out to me as an involved business owner who really cared about all the details of each of his clients' special occasions. Dan, also delightful, came to the rescue when our officiant had to regretfully back out a few weeks before the wedding day. Dan tailored our ceremony to us and made us feel calm during one of the most nerve-wracking parts of the day (for us personally). He introduced us as husband and wife to our closest family and friends with grace, class and the utmost charm. We also cannot speak enough to the quality of the food at our cocktail hour and reception- our guests still rave about it! We offered the salmon and the filet mignon as our main courses, both of which were delicious! We felt the filet was a little rare for our taste, but that is one small and easy improvement that felt so minor compared to all of the ways David's excelled on our wedding day. We also ordered breakfast sandwiches for our guests to take on the way out of the reception. People seemed to really love them and It was a nice touch at the end of the night that a lot of people appreciated. We are so grateful to David's team for an utterly fantastic celebration! read more

My husband and I had our wedding here last night and it was everything I ever hoped for. First of all, our coordinator, Debbie, is the most amazing woman. She kept everything running so smooth, she is so caring, organized, and on top of everything. Everyone at the venue was amazing. I cannot say enough about David's! Their food is delicious and the presentation is breath taking. The venue itself is stunning. So much charm and beauty. I would recommend David's country inn to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with top service and care. Oh and also! The outside of the venue is absolutely amazing. The ivy walls and the fountains are the perfect place for pictures! I honestly couldn't have imagined my wedding anywhere else. This is literally the most amazing, most romantic venue out there! The prices are reasonable, the staff is more than excellent and go above and beyond to make your day the best day ever! They make sure your wedding day is exactly what you want, the food is to die for- it's large portions and INCREDIBLE and the setting is just so romantic really takes you back in time. Please forgive me while I gush my head off. Ten stars - at least. The hubby and I were married here a few weeks ago. As just so many of our guests advised, David's was PERFECT. Just about flawless. I'm going to keep this short since I could literally write pages... and nobody will read it all! After having been to so many wedding mills, we were looking for something a bit different. Walking into David's was a breath of fresh air. GORGEOUS. Really romantic and breathtaking. There's history in every wall with high ceilings, long railings with candles, chandeliers, a huge bar straight out of an old movie, staircases, fireplaces, huge porches, giant windows... wow. They have everything nailed. Tiny cocktail tables all over the place so people aren't balancing drinks and noshes, restrooms on both levels, old furniture just begging for personalized decor...We had only 85 guests and wanted an intimate venue, although David's would probably be just as ideal for groups twice as large. Service was exceptional from the second we walked in (without an appointment) to after the wedding was over. Heather took care of every detail with a sweet smile and sage advice. She was even there in the morning to help set up, going above and beyond. David's had things available that we hadn't even thought about, like holders for the table numbers - and options for which ones we wanted! During the wedding, drinks were filled, plates were replaced, people were guided to where they needed to be - and all without even really seeing the servers. Heather and the maitre d' checked in with us, our parents, and the wedding party to see if we needed anything. The food was absolutely delicious. I'd read good things (or we wouldn't have booked the place) and enjoyed the tasting, but the food that day was even better. Bacon-wrapped scallops, coconut shrimp, pastrami from the carving station, and spanakopita were all highlights of the appetizers (and now my mouth is watering thinking about them). The chateaubriand was fork-tender and succulent. The salmon with balsamic glaze was just wonderful. Everything was completely awesome. Cake (from Palermo's Bakery) and table flowers are included in the package... which is an extraordinary value. David's was considerably more reasonably priced than several other venues we visited, but everything felt luxurious and top-quality. We didn't even need most of the add-ons since the packages were all generous, including a really cool market bar in the bar room during the cocktail hour (you can use most of the building for the cocktail hour), soup and salad courses, and favors of small flower bouquets for the ladies when leaving. One thing for couples to consider - you will be the only event at David's on the day of your event. We've been to other weddings where you're bumping into several brides, or have to be rushed out when another wedding is coming in. There was none of that at David's. I recently went to David's for a wedding reception. The venue is lovely---nothing too different from other reception venues though. This place is in Hackettstown, off of Route 80. I feel bad for anyone traveling for a Friday night wedding and taking route 80 W, as 80 W on a Friday night is comparable to traffic hell. I like how the DJ area can be set up on the second floor, thus maximizing space for seating and dance floor. The acoustics were fine and the sound worked well, coming from the second floor space. In terms of food....hmmm....You know that saying, "Save the best for last"? Well, David's runs on a theory opposite of that saying. The food started out stellar and then went downhill with each additional course. I'll start off with the good news: cocktail hour was awesome! Trays and platters were kept full and food temperature was perfect throughout the whole cocktail hour. The fresh fruit and cheese spread was delicious. Clams casino was good. The star, however, was the bacon wrapped scallops! They were amazing. As a sidenote, the staff also did an effective job of circulating around the room with smaller apps, such as mini-crabcakes and mini-tacos. First course was a lemon sorbet and fresh fruit "shish-kabob." No complaints there. The salad was just romaine, some grated parmesan, and some dressing. The presentation was poor and the taste was not anything spectacular. I only had two bites. The true disappointment was dinner. I got chicken with eggplant, proscuitto, and mozarella. The proscuitto was in the form of little, greasy strips. I was expecting fresh mozarella, but instead got a melted slab of cheese. My friend got a fish platter, but the fish was ruined with a cream sauce and pureed pumpkin/yams/butternut squash...we weren't sure which one it was. After having such a great cocktail hour, I was disappointed with the main course. Dessert was ok. The cannolis were delicious, but everything else was just average. Unfortunately, the red velvet cake was one of the worst I have ever had. David's is a fine venue for a wedding, but if you're looking for something "different"," then you should look somewhere else. read more
