    Jerk tofu
    Lexi G.

For the past few years it's been kinda tough to pin down this restaurant. I think they've changed location a couple times and had some inconsistent hours. I recently made it to their newest location. It has plenty of seating and a parking lot. But it does have a strange atmosphere--when I stopped in over lunch we were the only customers dining in. There was birthday decor up and a TV blaring. But the service was warm and welcoming and the food so delicious. I haven't been able to tear myself away from the jerk tofu, but I'll try the pineapple tofu one of these days. And the portions are incredible.

The food was great as always, I got the chicken and rib combo. The homemade bbq on the ribs and the jerk were amazing. Rice was great I like to mix it with the veggies with a little jerk sauce. Beef patty was delicious! Quick service and friendly every time. A great vibe at the new location, a little music would've been perfect. Love all the decorations and pictures with the Jamaican colors everywhere. Try the ribs .

They are operating as a food truck near university in the Library Mall. I took out lunch from here. Jerk chicken was my item. It was good. Not spicy though. I think a little bit more flavor would have been nicer.

    Inedible Jerk Tofu

He double charged us 72 bucks instead of 35 and didn't even realize. Then, when I came up to say something about it he told me to wait until the end of our meal & i'm still just sitting in the booth right now waiting. On top of that the jerk tofu was inedible and the rest of the stuff we got was tasteless as well. I watched him use his hands to touch the money from customers then immediately go to the back and touch cabbage that he then served to us. He forgot to serve us our plantains and we had to get up and ask him to get it for us and then he also forgot to give someone else their plantains as well. He did give us a free jerk sauce to make up for the trouble but we probably won't be using it.

I live eating at David's fir an authentic Jamaican flavor. I am never disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful. Carry out is a big favorite here for many. If you like heat you can request as much as you want. Din't miss this Madison gem on Monona Drive.

Absolutely NOT!! Food was definitely old and not good and the beef patty's sorry but there was absolutely nothing we ordered that was good we ended up having a few bites of our orderes and tossed it wasted $100 should have known better by the empty parking lot on a sat afternoon ‍

    Friday night buffet

We missed Jamaica tonight so we thought we'd hit up the buffet and take our little one out (he's 9 months!). Prior to our little Babe, we frequented their Friday night buffet, and love anything "jerk" on their menu. The jerk and citrus sauces are my absolute favorite! They are amazing, even with just the rice and steamed veggies! However, the two star rating is due to tonight's experience. We got in around 6:30 and sat ourselves. I asked for a high chair and the waitress said they were around the corner. So, I helped myself and found neither of the two available had functioning straps/clasp and sticky. We still used one, wiped it ourselves and kept our Babe close. My Hubs and I both had two rounds of food, and while we were there, never had the plates cleared or our water refilled. The restaurant only had a few other tables but the waitress kept busy chatting with patrons. The food was flavorful since sauces were on point, but some meat items could have been warmer. In addition, the door slammed loudly every time people came in and out. You could say that was also bothersome to us. Our total came up to $29 and some change. A $3 tip was left on the table.

I love Jamaican food and I have been there on more than one occasion. The first time I visited, I had the curry goat which was excellent! :) Their curry goat was fresh, extremely tender, well seasoned full of flavor with a nice side of delicious cabbage and rices & peas. Another time I went there, I had curry goat again and it wasn't as fresh possibly sitting out for a really long time, only got a small portion, super oily, and didn't taste good. Another time I had their oxtails which was very good but not the best Jamaican oxtails I have had. I got very little portion of small oxtails (couple scoops full) and it cost me about $20 but I also ordered it with a side of cabbage and rice & peas. I have gone to some better Jamaican spots in nearby Chicago and Milwaukee and they give a-lot more better larger portion size of larger oxtails that tasted better with the sides also for about the same price. Oxtails are very expensive in general to purchase but I felt like I didn't really get much for the price in comparison to some other a Jamaican restaurants I have been to recently. However, their Jamaican cabbage is amazing absolutely delicious!!! Originally, I gave Taste of Jamaica five stars because when I first visited, their food was fresh, excellent, and the portion sizes were pretty good but I have gone more than once since then, and they are not always consistent in the quality & execution of their food so I had to change my review. There isn't a-lot of competition for Jamaican cuisine in Madison, WI so I feel if there was, they would step up their game a lot more. They are still absolutely a-lot better than David's Jamaican cuisine in Madison. I hope they continue to deliver better consistency with their food!!!

We had the jerk ribs and the brown stew chicken with rice, cabbage, corn, and plantains--every single thing was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The chef even surprised us with some jerk rolls, which were so good. Service was excellent from start to finish, and we got to meet the owner, Jessica, who was fun, friendly, and clearly passionate about what she's built. Highly recommend--can't wait to come back!

My service was friendly and fast. I would have to go with the classic jerked chicken meal as my first time trying the place that comes with jerked chicken, mini hot corn on the cob, rice/peas and cabbage. The cabbage was probably the best from a Jamaican restaurant that I can remember because it was spicy. The corn cob was also very good because it was cooked in a broth of some sort and very different from regular corn on the cob. The rice and peas were also good with some spice but lacking any depth of flavor. The jerked chicken was good with moist meat and that classic dark skin but it needed the jerk sauce on the to get its flavor potential on point. Overall was the food good, yes. Was it the best jerked chicken no because that south side place is still my favorite. Would I go back for more of the menu, definitely.

This is my second time trying their food -- the first was at the Taste of Madison and I had their Jerk wings. This time, I ordered their Happy Jerk Combo. I lunched after 1, so they were out of the stir fry but I didn't care. Paid $9 for jerk pork and chicken over rice and beans, walked it back to my office only to discover the rice was no good. :( I ate some of the jerk meat, and both pork and chicken were severely dry, minimal sauce and flavor. I thought maybe the heat from the meats caused the mushiness in the rice, so I sniffed it and was able to scent a foul odor. My lunch was an absolute fail and all my Hubs had to say was, "That's why we don't go there mon." Ugh. :/ I am giving them one star because the Jerk wings at the Taste were good and the guy working the food cart was friendly. But maybe not friendly enough to know not to serve spoiled food.
