    Pecan pie

Called all around to find a pecan pie. None of the other places that sold pie had any. I was told that it tends to be a fall pie. Davidson's was the last on my list and they had freshly baked pecan pies. I asked the lady if she could save one for me? She let me know how much it would cost, took my name down, and said it would be packed and ready for me. The pie looked wonderful. The only discrepancy was an up charge from the price I was quoted. Just a tad bit curious as to what the additional charge was for?

Another Fabulous Breakfast at The Diner in McMinnville…read moreRating: We had another wonderful breakfast at The Diner in McMinnville. Our party of 4.5 was lucky to snag a spot on a typically busy Saturday morning; we must have hit the "sweet spot" because we arrived just before the line formed. A typical wait is 20-30 minutes for a table on weekends, but the food and service make it well worth it. We were greeted and seated quickly, and I really appreciated being offered a choice of seating. We opted for a booth, which worked perfectly for our little one in a booster seat. What made the visit truly special was the owner playing peek-a-boo with my grandson--such a sweet, personal touch that shows how much they care about their guests! The Diner is well-known for its boozy breakfast options. Our table enjoyed a Bloody Mary, Boozy Mimosas, and a Tequila Sunrise. All the drinks arrived quickly and were enjoyed tremendously. For the main course, we ordered: Breakfast Sandwich: Served on a soft, fluffy muffin with bacon and a perfectly cooked egg. Pork Chili Verde (Special): Served over cheddar grits with fresh salsa, crème fraîche, and crispy tortilla chips. Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Chicken Fried Steak: A family favorite that resulted in a "clean plate" as usual. Crispy Chicken Club Sandwich: Another lovely, solid meal. Another fantastic visit with great food and even better service. We will definitely be back!

Elmer's is always solid I might add - so we weren't relinquishing anything. We ordered seasonal breakfast items and a coffee and a couple mimosas. Everything was great! Everything was also super expensive! Now to be fair, my husband always has to order a savory and a sweet item, so we got more food than we needed but it was nearly $100 bucks after tip. Entrees were basically $20 a pop. I really, really do like Elmer's, but it shouldn't be a toss up between Elmer's and Fogo De Chao - the two for two would literally have been within a ten dollar difference. In my head without paying attention I imagined in the $12-14 per plate price point. I regret nothing, but was just taken aback by the pricing, and the difference of how high it is in comparison to a Cafe Murrayhill, Store Street Cafe, or even Babica Hen. All less expensive per plate by quite a bit. Will we go back to Elmer's, I'm sure. But thought it was worth noting!

We stopped in on a Friday morning and it was quiet, with only a few regulars eating food and reading a newspaper. The interior was equally as cute as the exterior. The shop was full of 1950s era decorations, from the retro lighting to old newspaper clippings. The bar area kinda reminded me the diner the Men in Black 3, where K ordered a piece of apple pie with a slice of cheese. The dining area was clean and bright, and the menu had tons of classic American selections. I ordered the chicken fried steak which was the recommendation, and I liked it. My friends ordered pancakes and enjoyed them as well. Our server was attentive but quiet. I wouldn't say she was the friendliest but she certainly was attentive. Overall, I liked the Bluemoon Diner and I am glad I finally checked it out. Now I know a good spot to go when I want some classic American diner food.

Food wasn't bad so I'll definitely be back! There were a few micro charges that we didn't even think about when ordering (whipped cream on milkshake, 0.50 or some odd cents for tartar sauce) but otherwise it was a very pleasant experience. As someone who usually hates sauerkraut the Reuben was actually enjoyable which was a surprise to me. The place really captures the diner feel inside and out, I'm excited to try different menu options in the future.

The biscuits were not biscuits. They were so hard and flat I thought it was sourdough slices but it was a handmade biscuit but very hard, flat, and tough. Worst I've ever had. The home fries weren't to my liking but my husband loved them. The pancakes were some the best gf v ones I've had but still felt very... gf. They were rubbery and chewy but not grainy like gf tends to be. They were fluffy. Overall I'd have preferred regular pancakes. The waitress suggested them to me instead of the French toast which she told me wasn't very good and vegan French toast is hard to do (not true I do it at home... but appreciate the honesty). The tempeh bacon, tofu scramble, and sausage was also applauded at the table but I didn't personally try it. I found the chicken too chewy but others like it. The carrot cake was good but the icing is a lot. Very rich and sweet. I'm probably the only person who likes a more savory icing everyone else liked the cake but agreed you couldn't eat a whole slice yourself. the coffee was great and they kept refilling in true diner style. They offer soy and oat milk. There were other things on the menu we were curious about so we will go back.

After a morning in the mounts visitng wineries, we were hungry. Borderline hangry, but for sure starving. A friend that was with said "I think there's a little cafe down in Gaston, let's check it out!" and we did! First, when you walk in, you're greeted warmly and they got us seated quickly. Menus were provided and then we heard the magic words... "What can I get you guys? Coffee? Water? Tea? A beer? A glass of wine?" A WHAT? Ma'am! It is 11:00 AM. Did you just offer me BEER and WINE? Yes, yes she did. And yes, yes we accepted. So let's pause. If you've not thrown back a glass of white wine with eggs, you're missing out. Seriously, rethink your life and try it. You're welcome. This is adulthood and how we survive it. We order. Annie's Delight, Scrambled-Egg Breakfast, Chicken Fried Chicken, and a 2-Egg Breakfast. When I say holy-crap-ton-of-food, know I'm not joking. We literaly ran out of table there was so much food. Now we all know that myself and my crew have a healthy appetite but good lawd havemercy... never have I ever... the food was stupid. Just supid good. Ridiculous. Each bite it got better. Burned the crap out of my mouth but the wine healed it quickly. $25 for the biggest breakfast I've ever had and a huge glass of wine. Seriously, you can't beat that with a pole. The service was awesome... the coffee that accompanied the wine and water never ran dry and was refilled to maintain being piping hot the entire visit. The ambiance is kitschy and perfect. The staff are locals who obviously take great pride in their little Cafe and they SHOULD! They have worked hard to own the pride in there little gem in the heart of Gaston. Can't wait to go back. I've swept all the brunch places in all of Portland trying to find anyone who can do a solid Chicken Fried Chicken that well... needless to say, I've failed.
