This is a fun old timey diner. The decor was from the 60s and the tvs were playing old shows like Betty boop and rocky and bullwinkle which my kids got a kick out of. The food was really good! I had the bacon patty melt which was the special and it was great. The bread was really well toasted so it didn't get soggy and added great texture. You don't know what you're missing. I've taken 5 people to eat there the one was SHOCKED when his club sandwhich came out. He could only eat half and the other half home. Excellent service! We were greeted immediately upon arrival. Told we could seat ourselves we opted for a booth upfront. The interior is 60's themed. They had black and white cartoons playing on multiple screens (Betty Bop, Popeye, Donald Duck, ect.) that kept the grandkid engaged. Our lunch consisted of burgers and chicken strips and everything was cooked exceptionally. The fries and potato salad were my favorite. Perfectly reasonable and tasty place to get a nice breakfast! Nice throw back vibes with the 60s style booths, decor and music. The breakfast menu had some bright spots. The sausage gravy and biscuits was quite tasty and peppery with the biscuit being very fresh and soft with a great salty/buttery taste. Bacon was grilled really great and cant ask for better over medium eggs. All of my dining companions enjoyed their breakfasts as well and the coffee was quite good! The service was fine - I could tell it was a newer server, but they did great and was very friendly. I couldn't tell if it was the owner or manager there, but he was also quite nice and made sure we were really well taken care of. Ok so we were headed to Dave's Hot Chicken after my son's football games on Saturday (August 24th). We were heading down the road when my son saw the neon sign on the facade. We took a hard right into the parking lot. As we entered the restaurant it flashed me back to being a kid, although not 100% of the way. There were tons of nostalgic pics of Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Betty Boop (cartoon I know lol), and tons of other stuff. The music was amazing, tons of Bob Dylan was what I really noticed. I was totally ok with that. I wasn't even expecting to order a milkshake, but after my son told me how good it was in Lincoln City, how could I say no? I am glad I didn't ask for "extra thick" like I usually have to or else the straw would have probably been totally useless. My shake (I got peanut butter) was thick and delicious. Basically it was desert before dinner. Not this is when the nostalgia wore off. All three of us got Bacon Cheeseburgers. We all had special requests. Long story short(er), we had to send them back two, (possibly three) times . I ended up just eating mine and finishing long before my son and wife. My burger was dry and meh. I didn't get the sauce on my burger and got curly, instead of regular fries that I ordered. For a diner i would have expected slightly greasy and juicy burger. I think they totally flipped my wife and son's order, but took a long time to get it right. The manager did come over to verify the errors (might not be exactly as i documented). She also encouraged us to come back. When we dined it was really slow (about 2:45), but advised it was a "long day". The restaurant was fun, and my wife and son (and I) had fun watching all the retro cartoons, but the food left a lot to be desired. read more

I recently stumbled upon the 60's Cafe & Diner while my friend had a meeting in Tualatin. As a huge fan of 50s and 60s-themed establishments, I was immediately drawn to the retro decor and classic vibe. The menu may have been simple, but the one item that caught my eye was the chicken fried steak. I've tried this dish at countless diners across the country, and I can be quite picky. To my delight, the chicken fried steak exceeded my expectations. The steak was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and incredibly tender on the inside. The gravy was rich and flavorful, complementing the savory steak beautifully. Beyond the delicious food, the atmosphere at the 60's Cafe & Diner was truly charming. The vintage decor, complete with old-school jukeboxes and classic memorabilia, transported me back in time. I think I'm going to need to get back here for lunch and/or dinner too! read more

I don't know why people are giving this place 1 star reviews. Our experience was different. Upon entering we were greeted warmly by the hostess. We were told to sit where we wanted. The tables we a little small for our group of 5. They suggested that we could move 2 tables together. The decor is tastefully done with 60s flair. Lots of movie posters, car bench seats, and lighting. There were 2 tvs playing Betty Boop cartoons. The dining area also has giant roll up bay windows when the weather cooperates. Plus 50s/60s era music was playing at just the right volume. We ordered our drinks first. The big drinks we ordered were the Root Beer Floor and the Creamsicle. Both looked amazing! I ordered the Bourbon Brown Chocolate Sundae (?). It was definitely boozy! The food was amazing and plentiful. Done just right. My wife ordered an impossible patty and everywhere she goes, they don't do it very well. This place put a smile on her face! Plus the staff didn't come by every 5 minutes to see how we were doing. Let me just tell you about how amazing this place and this team is: Less than two full days before my event, myself and the manager realized that a miscommunication occurred and they hadn't been fully informed about the $500 order for 18 people that I was expecting to pick up. Went as a party of three, (might help to add we're obviously Hispanic) and everything seemed fine up until the head hostess' party of 10 came and was seated right next to us. Then after it was lots of micro aggression. Pictures were being taken of us and at one point the mom of the group had her bum in our space to which I made a face because she stayed there a good 5-7 minutes the hostess caught my face and once she moved came and stood in that SAME SPOT with her bum in my direction. I went to pay after that and she wanted to bill me their tab of $150 instead of my $60 3 person tab which I immediately corrected and she goes to our waitress "well they said the table in the corner" mind you she sat us and them. We had watched with great anticipation, a few years ago, as a dark old corner bar space was slowly revamped into a light, bright new diner with lots of windows and great 60s decor. Tualatin doesn't have much in the way of non-chain cafes and we are always looking for our next favorite local hangout. We waited a month or so after its grand opening for them to work the kinks out before trying it out. We soon realized we had not waited long enough as the service was slow and waitstaff stressed and the food mediocre. We were not in a rush to go back. Thankfully, a friend of mine told me they had enjoyed an amazing breakfast, and urged me to go back. Apparently, the owner changed the management and this cafe's quality is now so much better. Boy, are we glad we listened and went back! I had some of the best French toast ever and my husband was very happy with his bacon and eggs. We went here for the first time. Decorated in red and white. Reminds me of "Happy Days" show theme. 60s celebrities and photos on the walls. Very nostalgic. I ordered a cheeseburger with curly fries and my counterpart ordered a bacon cheeseburger. It came out quickly. The burger was humongous and so much curly fries right out of the fryer. Pickles were on the side. They had a jukebox. 60s cartoons were playing on the four television set. If you like a good Reuben sandwich don't come here. This was possibly the worst sandwich I've ever had. Everything that makes a ruebon pop was missing in this sandwich. every element failed. Servers were friendly and did their best to meet our needs. It was a busy night and had to wait a bit for our food. They also offer breakfast all day, which is a nice option. EXTREMLEY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I went to park in the parking lot of the strip mall, at 8:30 pm I get out of my car and as I go to shop at Plato's closet a store across from the diner, two workers a woman named Valarie (who did most of the yelling) and another woman with short black hair in a flannel, both proceed to yell "YOU CANT PARK HERE OR YOU'LL GET TOWED" I walk back to check for a sign and there was not any visible signs so I ask them "where's the sign at" and they yell back "there doesn't need to be for me to call a tow truck don't be giving me an attitude!!" even though I asked politely " All I say back is "I'm not giving giving you an attitude" and I begin to walk away when they continue to antagonize me saying I was and that she's going to call a tow truck she is still screaming at me when I'm at the door of Plato's closet walking in. Keep in mind there is maybe 3 other cars in the parking lot and chapter 98 of Oregon law states there must be a visible sign. THE ONLY SIGN POSTED SAYS NO SMOKING, guess what they were doing when I got out of my car SMOKING CIGARETTES only 10-15 feet away from that sign. Absolutely ridiculous and hypocritical. These workers are extremely unprofessional and are sitting outside of their job which is closed screaming at customers of other stores. Absolutely ridiculous and disgraceful if I were the owner of this establishment I would consider keeping these workers in check, also to the owner when I walk back to my car they are chatting with each other not even working inside so I would consider that as well. This could've been easily avoided, as it wouldn't even be legal to tow my car lmao these workers are obviously bored and are likely just staying on the clock doing nothing. (The one with the flannel at first was hostile doing the yelling but when I walked back was somewhat more reasonable while Valarie was continuing to antagonize and yell) I almost never leave bad reviews or even reviews for that matter but when someone is going to intentionally antagonize me and be extremely rude and unprofessional I'm not going to do nothing about it. It blows my mind two adults think this is okay and think it's something they should be doing while representing a business I will never be giving you my business and I'll spread the word about your horrible professionalism. I hope you do something about your Valarie problem because with this type of behavior I doubt this is the first complaint. read more
