If you're ready to spend your entire day waiting, this is the place for you. I waited nearly 20 minutes just to see the doctor -- and then another 20 minutes before anyone even started processing my glasses order. Every step was delayed because staff had to "look up" basic insurance information that should've been verified before the appointment. What's worse, you can't even schedule an appointment without providing your insurance details in advance -- so why isn't it ready when you arrive? It's beyond frustrating. Sadly, many of us are stuck coming here because it's the only provider our companies contract with -- chosen for cost, not quality. The result? Slow, disorganized, and subpar service. Absolutely the worse front desk manager Briane who would not let my wife see eye dr as a walkin because pollen got under my eye and scratched it. First she said half hour, then 45.00 then no time. A terrible rude women who I guess just wants patients to upsell her stores bottom line. We have been patients for over 10 yrs as davis vision and visionworks. So are you real eye drs and service all eye issues or just a faux place that upsells glasses and everything else. A real eye dr would look at my wifes eye no? BBB is next. read more

I had a very pleasant experience here. Very short wait when I arrived. Only one person ahead of me. They checked and applied my insurance right away. Was given a general area and brands to browse frames right away. Then the saleswoman Amanda came to help me when she had finished with the costumer ahead of me. She was kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. She was so very pleasant and made me feel welcome and appreciated. She helped me find a great frame for my glasses and gave me fantastic advice as to how each pair looked on me. I am very happy with my visit to this Vision Works and the wonderful experience I had with the saleswoman made it all happen. read more

VisonWorks is expensive and inconvenient. They will nickle and dime you to death, if you use insurance. They took an extremely long time to get approval from my insurance provider. So long, in fact, that I called my provider directly. I was told to wait up to 4 hours for them to get an approval. This was after I had made an appointment. They take too long to make glasses. 10 days is too long considering that they make the glasses there. They called to tell me that my 2 pairs of glasses were done. However, when I arrived there I was told that only one pair was done. It was awfully inconvenient, considering that I wasted a lunch hour to get there, only to walk away without anything to show for it. I try to put myself in other people's shoes. I try really hard to be fair. Having said all of that, I will never buy glasses from VisionWorks in Patchogue ever again. When I tried to discuss my disappointment with them, they seemed disinterested. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some whiny entitled jackass, but... When you waste my time and money, I get a little aggravated. I didn't even get a sorry... Oh well. I'll just take my business elsewhere. read more

So I paid for a vision exam and what would have been an $1100 pair of glasses. I then wanted to use my prescription (the one that I paid for) to purchase a pair of sunglasses online. I noticed the prescription was missing some info that needed to be filled out online. I hadn't picked up my glasses from vision works so when I went to go pick them up, I questioned them about it. It turns out they intentionally do not provide certain numbers to make it more difficult for you to buy extra glasses elsewhere. When I asked for a copy of the actual prescription, they refused and only allowed me to look at it and write the info down on a piece of paper. This has been the only place I have ever purchased glasses from and this is how they treat the costumer? Like the eye exam I paid for is THEIR proprietary information??? This is the last time I will be giving them my money for ANY of it!!! Shady corporate BS. read more

I just moved to the area and was looking for vision specialists. After a lot of looking (other places were so rude and i felt rushed), I came across Visionworks. Very pleasant experience. The wait times can be lengthy, but the care is good and the choice eyeglasses is numerous. I would like to give 5 stars to Kristin. I felt so comfortable with her as my consultant and eyeglass specialist. She was EXTREMELY patient with me when I was trying to choose between frames. Great personality and great knowledge of the industry. The only reason I walked out with 2 frames is because she was so pleasant (but did not coerce me). And they have a special you can use with your insurance: buy 1 pair of glasses get one 50% off. : ) I cant say enough good things about Kristin. Patchogue NY location is BAD and gives Visionworks a black eye. 20 year Hauppauge NY customer - always a great experience, but that location closed. October 2022 - Staff here - Staff chit chat for 5 minutes to each other, THEN acknowledge new customers waiting at the desk to be checked in. Opthamologist does not give you time/choices to see what potential prescription is best -2 possible choices and exam over - least thorough exam in my life. P/Up for $800 glasses - handed the case across the front desk and expected to walk out w/out any fitting/checking!!!! Staffer at front desk simply finds them, and hands them to me across the front desk to try on. I had to request the eye chart cards so I could check how the progressives seem to work - while standing there. In Hauppauge they would have you sit with a staffer while you checked them, and see if any adjustments were necessary! Manager abrupt and annoyed that customer wants adjustment. AVOID this location. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had. I've been a glasses wearer for 17 years and I've yet to experience anything like this until now. First of all, I couldn't even tell you what doctor I saw. I honestly didn't even realize she was the optometrist upon meeting her until the exam started. Didn't introduce herself at all and wasn't very friendly. The whole reason I scheduled the appointment to begin with was because I've been having trouble seeing. If that weren't the case, I wouldn't have come for an exam. Mid exam while I'm reading the chart and clearly having difficulties reading what's up there, she asks me if the machine isn't focusing....obviously im having trouble seeing. It's not the machine, it's my eyes. She then proceeds to show me what one level stronger than my prescription looks like and it looked the exact same which I told her. Mind you, what looks the same is still fuzzy. She tells me "well that's 20/20, so your prescription hasn't changed". Call me crazy but there's other prescriptions that exist beyond one level above what I have now....maybe I need something stronger?! I also opted for a contact lens exam at the beginning of the appointment which I haven't had in at least 3 years. I showed her what my last contact lens prescription was and she wrote me for the same exact thing. That contact lens prescription is more outdated than my glasses prescription... Clearly pure laziness and a disregard for my needs. Oh not to mention, when I was checking out it took much longer than it should have to get out of there. The optometrist and two store associates were too busy bs'ing behind the counter to do their jobs efficiently. There was only one other customer in the store who was waiting to be brought back for an exam. Unprofessional. Needless to say after having WASTED $60 after all was said and done with that appointment, I will now be looking for an ACTUAL eye doctor. Absolutely unreal. read more

If I could rate this negative stars, I would. To say I was treated with the utmost disrespect would be an understatement. They wanted me to buy everytrhing through them and refused to give me my prescription after my evaluation. They went so far as to say my evaluation didn't "count," after sitting there for an hour and a half getting EVALUATED! Stay away from these crooks. If you have to go to Davis, go to a different location. The Optometrist was just down right NASTY. I've worn glasses/contacts my whole life and have never encountered someone so vile. read more

First time getting an eye exam and glasses. Scheduled an appointment online at around 10am for 11:15am. Fill out my paperwork online and send it back so I don't have to do anything in the store, which was very nice. Get there a couple minutes early, sign a single piece of paper. Have to wait about 15 minutes to get called in the back for the eye exam, no biggie. Doc was great. Took about 10-15 minutes or so back there for everything. Went up front to pick out frames, I believe it may have been Angela that helped me (I'm not good with names)? She picked out the perfect pair for me and sat down with me to finish everything up, she was a pleasure to work with. They had the prescription lenses that I needed in the back so she told me it'd be about an hour wait before I could get my glasses, which I was a little amazed how fast it would be because my wife said it's usually a week wait. Walked around the corner to eat lunch, and a little over an half hour later I received a text saying they were done. Insurance also covered everything which was great. read more

Employees there are nice enough. Prices aren't that great, I've found them more expensive for lenses than most other stores. Their selection seems to be more aimed at amateur DJs than a normal, professional adult. It took me nearly an hour to find simple black frames that didn't have crazy patterns or embellishments on them. read more

I was recently at Vision works in Patchogue for my yearly eye exam. The eye doctor was wonderful and the person helping me pick out new frames was Deb. She was wonderful. I got contacts and a pair of glasses they said they would take 7-10 days I received a text and they were ready in 4-5 days. I would recommend Vision works and I love this new location the people who work there are friendly and very helpful. read more

Do NOT go here. They will waste your time if they don't accept your insurance! I made an appointment on the phone yesterday, the guy scheduled me for today and when I asked if he needed my insurance information, he said no, just bring it in at the time of appointment. I take off work, waste a trip, (only to be ignored in the doorway for an entire 5 minutes upon arrival) filled out paperwork, sat and waited, he then proceeds to tell me they are out of network and don't accept my insurance. So this could've easily been avoided by simply asking me about insurance on the phone! They did it to another woman at the same time in the waiting room. These are the people who have jobs? Extremely unprofessional and I will not be recommending them to ANYONE. I will also be contacting corporate. You shouldn't have to do someone's job for them because they don't know any better and do the same thing to more than 1 customer. You're only hurting your own company.
