Went to Cohens Fashion in Valley stream. This store is the worse. I went to have an eye exam. I was…read moretold I needed a new prescription. Understandable it has been a few years. Once I had the eye exam it went down hill. It was an $1100 mistake. Don't ever go here they lie and smile in your face. Thieves as well. I was told I can't use my military discount due to using insurance. That was a lie. I found out I was able to use my discount. The frames I paid $250 I found online for $74. They told me they don't price match. Then the guy broke my frames and gave me an attitude. I had to pay $150 to have my lenses put into my frames When I said he had to replace them. Then I ordered my lenses. Progressive, transitional with antiglare $725 I paid. There was no antiglare and the staff member tried to tell me I don't know glasses that's why. I'm positive I can tell if there is antiglare in something. I had to take my glasses back due the person measuring me incorrectly. I wasn't able to see since he measured me incorrectly. They said it would be a rush job. I called a week later and was told the glasses went out the day before. Meanwhile the lady who answered said they went out the day after I left them. Either way I can't see due to them not getting me back my glasses. I been wearing spare frames to help me get by. I asked for my glasses or my money back. I was told they don't give refunds and I will have to wait. Never again will I go to Cohens not even for a dead bird. They are terrible. The staff sucks and just lie. A bunch of money hungry thieves. Sad part is the store mgr was there the whole time. I never who she was until she got on the phone. Not once did she identify herself when I went to the store. I have made 3 trips so far and still have to make another one. While I was in the store the last time she stood on the side watching and playing dumb as if she didn't know her staff is railroading ppl for money. NEVER GO TO COHENS VALLEY STREAM. I've had my glasses for a year now (since Jan 2025) and if I could give it negative stars, I would. I left there with glasses that were too big for my face and no adjustments made to them. I paid a pretty penny for these fancy Gucci glasses with progressives, but no one at Cohen's adjusted the glasses nor steered me away from these glasses which now I realize were the wrong fit for me. I spent the whole year trying to figure out why I couldn't see - thinking something was wrong with my eyes. My new optometrist advised that because the glasses were too big, they were sliding off my face, and the progressives were not placed properly in my eyesight rendering the progressives useless. I'd have to make ridiculous head movements for the progressives to work and it's not practical. Save your time & money and go to a real optician. One that will work with the optometrist or ophthalmologist that takes your eye exam. Because I'm pretty certain I made my eyesight worse with these glasses.

I called the same day for an appointment and they were able to fit me in. No wait! Joe is truly amazing and the reason I still keep coming here and I always refer friends and relatives. First, their prices are exceptional, for example, you buy one frame and lens and you'll get a second frame and lens for free, which you can use for home or as a sunglass (just need to pay for the darkening of the lens, which is about $30). The doctor here truly knows his stuff as he has tons of experience. His exams are very quick and you would think, did he check everything right? But trust me, when you wear your updated glasses, you will see that they are absolutely perfect. He even told me the first time I had my exam there, the bifocal/progressive lens is really not needed for my eyes and is just a waste of money. The previous place I went to, they said I needed them, in addition, my prescription barely changed and really didn't need to spend so much money on new lens along with bifocal/progressive lens (and he was right!). Imagine that, a business that says, you don't need to spend more money! Joe is a true model of what outstanding customer service is, and Chris who is a younger guy, I'm assuming was trained by Joe, so he is also outstanding. From the initial steps in searching for a frame to picking up your new eye wear is nothing short of exceptional, they don't pressure you into buying anything at all. They are truly in the best interest of their customers, especially in finding a frame that fits and looks great on you.
