My experience with 20/20 was AMAZING. After telling my previous optometrist that I didn't feel like my eye glass prescription didn't work for me, and being dismissed, I found a new optometrist. I had an appointment with Mesha Patel. Dr Patel listened to all my concerns, and my past medical history with my past eye surgeries, etc. I told her that I don't think that my eyeglasses were helping my vision much. Dr Patel checked my vision, and my lenses. She agreed with me, and felt that they weren't helping me. She gave me an antibiotic eye drops, a new lens prescirption, and a follow up appointment. My parents wear glasses for reading so I'm bound to step foot in a place like this somewhere down the line. Luckily for my eyesight I was only visiting Wize Eyes to get an eye test for my soon to be expiring license. I came this past Saturday afternoon after spending most of the day covering one eye and freaking myself out as to whether I actually needed glasses. For the first time ever, I entered this visual spot as opposed to going into the adjacent 7/11 that I've frequented all my life. Right as I entered, I was greeted by a friendly staff member. She filled out my info and I waited about ten minutes before the optometrist called my name. He was kind and professional and the eye test was thorough as he went through a handful of tests. This was not needed, but good to know the $39 test included more than reading a few letters. Payment was quick and easy. They were decorated for the holidays too which was a nice touch. Overall, I'm not blind! But beyond that, Wize Eyes was personable and helpful in accomplishing what I needed to get done. I can't vouch for buying glasses, but I would consider coming here if/when I do need a pair. read more

Located right next to 7-11 with which they share a parking lot. Sought an appointment on Presidents Day and we were able to walk in and be seen for a checkup within just a couple of minutes. The front desk staff, optometrist, and optician were all very friendly and polite. An eye exam here runs $40 which is pretty fair, especially for the thoroughness they exhibited. Pricing for glasses may be seen as a little high depending on what your experience and expectations are. They're certainly not a discount eyeglass store though. The store itself is spacious enough and their selection seemed pretty good (but we weren't shopping for brand names or anything trendy). Glasses were ready the next day and they quickly and precisely made adjustments to the fit before we were on our way. Overall, a pleasant, quick, and easy experience from start to finish. read more

You No Longer Get What You Pay For: A Quality Product at a Reasonable Price After being a customer for many years, I'm disappointed in two recent experiences at the New Hyde Park store of Wize Eyes. You used to be able to get a quality pair of eyeglasses for $40 that included all the extra. Then they raised the basic price to $69 to which they charged separately for add-ons that used to be minimal price so I wound up spending $222. The eyeglasses broke within two days. When I came back, the store employees told me they could not fix the frame so I paid for another frame for $49. I declined the insurance for $20 good for a year. This time, the frame broke within two days also. The same weakness was evident: the frame coming loose at the upper left corner. I could have superglued it back together. I'm switching to Warby Parker where they make a quality product at a reasonable price. \ read more

An eye exam and glasses, simple and fast, very much appreciated. My wife and I ended up here on a Sunday afternoon. She needed an eye exam to renew her driver's license and was also in the market for a new pair of glasses. The staff who greeted us from behind the counter when we walked in were friendly and helpful. They explained it would only be a short wait for the exam and they were right. After waiting for about 15-minutes my wife was escorted back to the eye exam area. The optometrist was a soft spoken young man but seemed very competent. The exam was comprehensive and through. After the exam we sat down at one of the display counters and were helped by one of the salespeople. My wife had a pretty good idea about the style of frames she was looking for so this part of the process also went by uneventful. The salesperson also suggested a few similar style frames for my wife to try on. In the end my wife fell in love with the Michael Korrs frames for $179, really not too bad of a price for designer frames. Single prescription lenses are $59 but my wife order the progressive lenses which were more like $159. After the order was written up they promised the frames would be ready by Wednesday (3-days later). Sure enough the frames were ready as promised, only three days later. I was impressed. We've had horrible experiences in the past when we've ordered new glasses from the wholesale clubs. We would wait for two weeks only the find they screwed up the order. Wise Eyes was a pleasant surprise. She's been wearing the new glasses for a few days now and is very pleased with the fit and prescription. The exam was on $18, not a bad deal and they willingly provided a copy of the prescription when asked. We were happy to find a reasonably priced alternative to the wholesale club optical departments with a large selection of frames to pick from. Two thumbs up from me for Wise Eyes. Melville, NY location: I explain to the Optometrist that I've never worn progressives. She says I'll love them and she has 12 pairs! I get them 3 weeks later after they have issues making them. I try them on and immediately tell her they are blurry on the sides. She said it's me and I need time to get use to them. After wearing them half the day I come back and one other the staff says the frame is too narrow. The optometrist comes out and says they're fine. I said I want a full refund and they can use the same frames for my single vision. She tells me they won't refund my credit card but I can use a store credit she'll give me for several pairs! I said I came in for one pair! I told her it was unacceptable! Disputing on my credit card. How unethical! Poorly made lenses, frame shouldn't have been used for these kind of lenses and I'm at fault! Beware of their stores lack of ethics and knowledge. read more

Came to get glasses! They charged me $80 for an exam my opthamologist does for $40. I'm a medical profession and can assure that the optometrist did not even do a full comprehensive exam. He just made me try a pair of contacts that I had a prior prescription for and charged $$80 scamming me into saying that's an exam. They do not clean any of their eye equipment or anything. When you ask the optometrist any questions, he doesn't even answer them and looks at you as if you don't have any knowledge. Have been very happy and have been wearing glasses all my life and can assure you this was the worst experience I have had. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. read more

Yes I traveled allllllllll the way from Brooklyn to get my eye exam here. Here's why: 1) Everyone up and down Flatbush Avenue wanted me to spend $190 and up for a contact lens eye exam and a 3 month supply of contacts. I tried explaining to them that I don't wear my contacts everyday, mostly on the weekends so I only need a month supply. They said they couldn't do it so I walked out. THE CONTACT EXAM HERE IS ONLY $79!!! Plus they have a $20 off coupon on their sight. So altogether I paid $59 for an exam and a month supply of contacts!! 2) No BS! If they quote you one price then that's the price it is. They don't try to upsell or tack on useless insurance on your frames. 3) The doctor is always in. Other places you have to schedule your appointment around the doctors schedule. Here the doctor has always been in. Needless to say I am more than happy. Overall: I'll see you guys in 6 months to a year! read more

One star for horrible customer service and disrespect from the employee named Barry (I think that's his name. He is the short, dark-haired guy with a belly). A few months ago I wanted to buy both of my parents a pair of eyeglasses. As a recent college grad who finally started making decent money, I wanted to get my parents a nice gift to say thank you for everything. Eye exam went fine for both of my parents, the sales associate lady was very helpful in picking out a pair of frames that my dad liked. My mom couldn't find any she liked, so I asked to have her pupillary distance (distance between the 2 eyes) measured so that we could go to another store and find a pair that matched her. Enter Barry, one of the rudest and most self-righteous people that I have ever met. Knowing that we wanted to take our business elsewhere, he immediately raised his voice and flat refused to do the measurement. He spouted off some bs tough-talk about "I spent X amount of years in optometry school. If I don't want to measure her, I don't have to. It's the law. Google it if you don't know." Ok a-hole, I get it that you don't want us taking our business elsewhere. It's a bit cheap of you, but understandable. BUT, that still doesn't give you any right to speak to me and my parents like you're lecturing some kids. They obviously didn't teach you anything about respect and customer service in Optometry school. My family has lived in Herricks for 13 years, and I've been coming here since I was in middle school. The service is excellent. I got exactly what I needed in a really short period of time. The eye exam was done professionally and the scary puff of air that usually is so annoying to suffer through was not so bad this time. NICE! I really like the salespeople because they are all friendly, personable and I got two pairs of glasses for a great price with the advertised special. I went back to get another pair of glasses (I like variety because I wear glasses daily) and as usual, the service was really extraordinary. I have not had a better experience getting glasses than this one. There was such a short wait to see the optometrist and to get my glasses, the saleswoman brought exactly what I was looking for on the first try! You cannot beat the service, the prices are reasonable, parking is very accessible and I got my last pair of glasses within 1 day of ordering! Amazing! My eyesight went terribly south after law school, along with the amount of money in my bank account. So, I needed a new pair of glasses at a reasonable price. I read and looked into various online websites (like Warby Parker), but I wasn't loving anything I tried on, so I figured I'd give Wise Eyes a try. I walked in and specifically asked if they had any deals for frames and lenses together or if they charge separately. The girl responded that it would be separate. Ultimately, I ended up keeping my old frames and had them just replace the lenses (new prescrition) for around $60. To their credit, they did this for me in one hour, which was much appreciated and helpful. AFTER I paid and after my lenses were replaced, I noticed an ENTIRE WALL of glasses (only because my Dad was now looking) that another sales associate said were part of a promotion for FRAMES AND LENSES for around the same price it cost me (I think it was actually less) than it had cost me to replace just my lenses in frames that I provided. There were other major hiccups here with my Dad's glasses. The frames he received "new" were CLEARLY tarnished and old, but they told him it was just the look. I told him it that was ridiculous and not at all what we picked out, so he went back the next day and another sales associate (a manager, I believe) clearly admitted these were old, used frames and replaced them. I went into this location of Wize Eyes to get an eyeglass examination. I was interested in their $18 exam that they advertise on their website and on a big sign outside the store. I needed my prescription to order glasses online from Zennioptical.com. The eye doctor was very friendly and helpful. When the examination was over, I explained to the sales girl that I wouldn't be needing glasses today, I just needed the prescription. She tells me that it would be an additional $21 for her to write down my prescription and give it to me. Classic price gouging. I'm pretty sure this practice bleeds into everything else they do here and I wouldn't go back. read more

I've had mixed experiences with this place. Their selection of eyewear is hands down the best in the area, lots of choices and they never try to upsell you or push the warrantees. I also go here for contacts frequently. I had come back with a complaint about my frames, the paint on them had started coming off on the edges just after my warrantee was up and I just wanted to ask if there was anything that could be done (I was prepared to pay money for it). This awful red-headed woman was beyond rude, telling me that I was merely careless and pointed to undetectable "scratches" on the lenses that proved her point. I was shocked and left. Accompanied my mom to pick out glasses here nearly a year later and she urged me to ask about my frames one more time. This sweet woman Kim (the blonde) totally helped me out without even the slightest resistance. Overall great selection but the service is hit or miss. read more

Then when I took pictures of the frames because she wasn't helping- she told me not to take pictures and put away all the frames that I had selected as the ones I was interested in. The place have a nice selection of glasses, location is easy with plenty of parking. The prices are reasonable. Came here with my husband to get an eye exam. They have a huge sign out front advertising "only $39." My husband went in with the doctor and came out just a few minutes later. The lady at the counter asked if he was interested in getting glasses and when he said "not today" she seemed rather annoyed and treated him like he wasn't a paying customer anymore. My husband noticed that the prescription that was written was pretty far off from his contact lens exam that he had not too long ago. When he asked the doctor if that was normal the doctor just said "do you want it to be the same?" and then wrote another script for the same prescription as his contact lens exam. At that point it was pretty obvious they are not running a legitimate business nor doing right by their customers. How about I want it to be what it's supposed to be buddy?! Something as important as a person's vision should not be treated so carelessly. We would've paid more to go to a decent place had we known they weren't going to do it right. I went to Wize Eyes New Hyde Park 6 days ago to get eyeglasses. I wore it for less than a week and I decided to return it back because its very uncomfortable. It was a bad frame. My ears are hurting. The lady who helped me who happens to be the manager told me I can try it and if i dont like it i can return it back, she guarantee me a refund because she knew I wasnt sure and not so happy with my glasses.I called today and she gave me a different story. went to Wise Eyes in New Hyde Park a week ago to have my vision exam, the Optometrist doesn't know how to give out the right script and wrote it out too strong. Went to another place to have it filled, realized there's something wrong immediately but thought that I need to give it time to adjust and get used to. I wore my glasses for 2 days in total agony from headaches and severe pressure on my eyes to the point that I thought my eyeballs were going to pop out of my head. I went back to this low rate establishment for some relief and the dr. simply told me he doesn't know what to do for me.... REALLY???? I am going to more reputable dr. this week and will need to replace the RX from this bozo which resulted in me have to pay twice for lenses. YES, THEY ARE CHEAP BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY.... Terrible place to purchase glasses. Do yourself a big favor and don't set foot in there stores as they will ruin your site. Had an eye exam, purchased 2 pair of glasses one for distance and a pair for Computer / reading bi focal. After 5 days of wearing my Computer / reading glasses I realized the head aches I was having the past 5 days was from my new glasses. When I put on my old set of glasses my eye's were more relaxed and I could see my computer much better. I went back to the store and was reexamined by the same person who wrote a different prescription. I picked up the new prescription glasses and noticed the bi focal part was half way up from the bottom (18mm high). After speaking to their manager he said they made a mistake and would make a new pair. After picking up the new pair I found out I still could not see my computer text clearly. I covered my left eye and could read the text fine. Covered my right eye and could not make out any text on the screen. I put on my old set of glasses and could clearly see text with each eye. After going back to the store now for the 4 time now they said there is nothing they could do but make a new lens same as my old prescription but would have to charge me $50. I spoke with their corporate office and they said they would have to charge me $50. Well I am wearing my old glasses and see fine. I also found out my new distance glasses I purchased from them are the same as my old pair which I bought from them a year or two from them. You think they would have told me I had no change in that prescription but no they sold me a new pair at an outrageous price. What a rip off business. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS WORST!!!! I went to Wize Eyes in New Hyde Park for my annual eye exam (my first and only time there), the doctor was very nice. When I left I asked the person at the front to give me a copy of my prescription, so I can keep it with my medical records, and being that Wize Eyes didn't have any frames that I liked, I ended up ordering frames through another store with my prescription. I then got my new glasses mailed to me for $600, and I put the glasses on and there was no reading portion in them so I couldn't understand what happened! My husband and I went back to Wize Eyes on Sunday, the day after I got my prescription glasses and spoke with the person at the desk, as well as the Manager, and apparently, they didn't write down my "entire" prescription! They did not seem to care one bit at Wize Eyes, and they didn't offer me anything, they had no remorse, and just let us walk out of the store. I am beyond upset and I will never go back to Wize Eyes again, nor will my husband. Wize Eyes' error is causing me to incur a large additional cost to my prescription glasses. Stay away!! read more

I was there about 4 years ago and was not very happy. I went for multi-focal contacts which they assured me that they would be able to provide. The cost was $400 for the exam alone plus the cost of the contacts. I thought that was steep but I didn't want to wear reading glasses with my contacts so I went for it. The first trial pair (no charge) didn't work out so we tried another. Those as well did not work out & they told me that was all they could offer. I then asked if I still had to pay the total of $400 since they couldn't help me and they said yes, to my surprise! I kept asking if there was anything else they could do since I had to pay the $400 but they insisted that they couldn't do anything else for me. I even said to them so I paid $400 for nothing and they said sometimes that happens. Of course they never told me that before I paid the $400 that I may walk out of there with nothing, maybe if they did I might not have paid that kind of money. I ended up getting them with my doctor with no problem & much less money...should have just gone there in the first place! read more

You get what you pay for!!! Had an eye exam and they forgot to give me a copy of the prescription. Had to go back. They begrudgingly gave me a copy. That evening, ordered contacts at Vision Direct.com and the next day they e-mailed me that Wize Eyes informed them that I "was not a patient at this office." How did I have all the papers and receipt from them??? I also felt that the prescription given was too strong and the "sample contact" was uncomfortable to wear. Finally had to go to another more reputable vision center and received a different prescription that was perfectly fine and they graciously gave a copy of the prescription without being asked. They have a great price for your eye examination, but the fact that they won't give you your prescription unless you pay for it speaks volumes of their practices.
