I was visiting from out of town and my friend brought me here to check out the fragrance oils. Naj was so welcoming and a pleasure to work with. She made a lot of great suggestions and was very patient with us. I ended up purchasing 4 different fragrances in multiple sizes. Naj also included a complimentary African black soap bar! A couple of things to note: if you like any of the fragrances she can make them into sprays and body washes. If I didn't have to get on a plane I would have probably purchased a body wash! My dad introduced me to this place over twenty years ago. I mentioned it to my wife two years ago. We recently visited and fell in love. My only gripe is that the website does not reflect their full inventory. Being that we live about two-hours away, it's not so east making it before they close. I just want to say that I'm very pleased with the quality and variety of black essence and essential care products provided by this establishment. My experience with Naj was amazing. She was very patient and honest with me being a newbie to her shop. Like a kid in a candy store . If you want to look good, smell good , feel good then you should stop by. I really hate to give this place a one star review, but I can't justly give it anything higher. I'll put up with slight attitudes because I'm all about supporting Black and Brown businesses, but today was the last straw. My boyfriend and I walked into Dawah earlier today looking to buy soap at a decent price. No one greeted us when we walked in and I didn't see anyone standing behind the counter. I did see a gentleman with an earpiece and gloves off to the side, moving some oils so I asked him if he worked there. I guess that was the wrong thing to ask because he sarcastically replied, "nah I'm just back hear stealing stuff." And then turned away from me. It was just such an unnecessary response. I believe in supporting black business but I can no longer support this one. Though I have been coming here for years I've finally decided to take my business down the street to Zam Zam. I've had several instances where when I go they have been closed for prayer or lunch so this time I called and was told they would be taking prayer from 1-2. I arrived at 2:10 and it's was still closed. I waited until 2:20 and left to go down street to post office. I drove back and still closed at 2:30. I called at 2:40 and someone finally answered. I expressed my unhappiness with being told they would be back open at 2 and the guy who answered nonchalantly said yeah we just came back. No apologies or concern for my inconvenience. I hung up. New business hours 10am - 6pm and I discovered this by showing up at 6 pm and calling to let them know I was outside wanting to purchase products. Googles reflects that they close at 7. I was informed and hung up on before I could ask the weekend hours which are 10 am - 3pm. This information I got from the worker yelling from inside the gate. I enjoy the products I get from this business but the lack of empathy, professionalism, and customer service is disgusting and repulsive. Additionally, I have shown up at 10 am and had to wait 20 mins for them to open. Completely unprofessional. I'm hoping the owner improves operations effective immediately. Good prices for certain things. Not so good customer service. I've never been to a store where they act like you patronizing them is an inconvenience. Today I called to get the bottle prices and the guy was like six or seven dollars I don't have the paper, I'm like aren't you at work can you go get the paper but that's not unusual that's the type of customer service you always get. This is the only place that I've been to where the consistent people always seems to be irritated. Idk why tho usually ppl that come in there have good vibes. I believe body oil is better than perfume or cologne because it lasts all day and has no alcohol or water in it. Soaps, shea butter, tealight candles, skin and hair products are also sold in this family owned and operated business. The book selection is full of Islamic material for your knowledge. This shop also ships orders to inmates and across the U.S. through UPS. Good business to make a supplemental income with or to get started your own business. What a Hidden Gem! This place has a lot of history when you walk in the doors but the smell slaps you of all the amazing incense & oils as soon as you pull into the parking lot! I have been slipping on this place. I always go to a little hole-in-the-wall gas station place by my house in Inglewood, but I will happily support this black owned, family-owned business. I got some great scents and two new oil burners and I can tell this is going to last longer than any watered down ones that I purchased from other places. If you are looking for some good smelling oils, I highly recommend this place! They literally have over a hundred different smells to choose from! So I have several coworkers who swear by this place being that they are black owned, and sell the best all natural oils and body butters. I came in and there was a guy at the counter chatting it up with two women who were sitting. I figured they were customers and he was helping them so I figured I would look around while I waited for them to finish. I made eye contact several times, and waited for him to help me once he was done. He keeps up a long casual conversation with these women and behaves as if there is no one else waiting. Another guy comes in and walks right past me without asking if I need any help. After being ignored for about 15 minutes I ask him if they take debit cards. His response is "What you buying?" I put my items on the counter and asked about the incense. He was very short and basically looked annoyed that I wanted to buy two packs of incense. I am all about supporting black businesses but they have to do better with their customer service. The soap I bought was supposed to be lavender and it smells like dirt. The incense smells nice though. I have body butter that a friend bought from them that smells great too. All in all this was not a great shopping experience regardless of their quality of products. read more

The guy helping me had a nasty attitude. The Jean Paul body oil I got only lasted 30 minutes then the smell was completely gone. They obviously cut this fragrance with a lot of oil, because I could barely smell anything. The other body oil I got lasted several hours, but it does not last long like other body oils I have gotten in the past. My body oils that I got online from another retailer are much stronger and stay in your clothes, until you wash your clothes. With some of Dawah's body oils you will have to reply the oil every hour or two. Ain't nobody got tine for that. Needless to say, I will not be buying anything there again. read more
