This review is only for a perfume oil I picked up. They had lots of other products (incense, soaps, body care products, etc). I noticed some of the body oils I smelled on the floor smelled rancid, but I didn't purchase any of those. I came looking for a specific perfume oil, a marshmallow forward oil that's inspired by Kayali boujee marshmallow EDP. The smell was spot on, I was impressed. I got 2oz for $18, which is a good price compare to $25 for 1.7oz of another brand. But it didn't perform. I had another oil inspired by the same perfume that lasted all day and had projection. I got so many compliments when I layered the oil and could smell it on myself throughout the day. The oil I got from Zam Zam lasted maybe 3 hours with the same layering routine. Service was cool. The owner unfortunately had an injury and I was able to go behind the counter and smell oils at my leisure. He was knowledgeable about the inventory. And again, prices are fair. The performance of the oil was just very weak in my opinion, so not sure if I'd try another. read more

They have all types of butters- Shea, cocoa, mango etc. They also have a bunch of body oils and natural soaps. Been coming here for years.. until today Google still shows the closing time to be 6pm. Came at 4:53 to get incense & my regular items. Upon getting trying to enter the store that I Last knew to close at 6, the door was locked. Bc I saw the owner there, I knocked to clarify when his hours truly were for a Saturday. Not even upset, just so I am AWARE.. as the door has no signs to mention hours of operation. He came to the door annoyed and frustrated and said "CLOSED", from behind the door. I said, " Yes, but what time do you close so I know?" He could not hear me so he opened the door and very rudely said "What do you want?!" Me: I'm wanting to know what your hours are? Shopkeeper : 5 pm. What do you want?! Me: just some incense. Shopkeeper : *still pissed* I am closed. Me: but it's not 5pm.. so are you now closing early? Him: yes. And closed and slammed the door. Was gonna use this vendor for my business, as a fellow business owner. Likely won't be back as the service today alone was mind blowing for a business that literally requires people purchase your items to stay open. You're taking away from your own sales. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Let's start off with the store itself. This store is small maybe 300 square feet or less, so the selection of products is limited. For some strange reason it is very dark inside this store, which gives it a very depressing atmosphere. How are you going to entice customers to come inside your store and buy your products if there is very poor lighting inside. I guess he wants to save on his electric bill. Lol! The owner does not clean his store! The floor looks like it hasn't been vacumed for a long time. The products on the shelves are dirty and dusty. Who wants to buy soap, lotion, and shampoo with a layer of filth on top and around the nozzle? The owner has a very rude and abrasive personality. Ask him a simple question and he answers back in a loud and angry tone, like and angry parent yelling at a child. This is the only store in the area that sells these type of products. Bad experience today!!! They have 2 stores now, and we went to the OG store first to re-up on oils. The store is closing because the rent is going up to $10k and since he has to move, he didn't have a lot of inventory & the oils we needed so he told us to go to the other store. We spent $29.75 and he told us that if we bought more at the second store we would get $5 off. So we go to the 2nd store and spend $20 but the guy (Shaib?) wouldn't give us the $5 off!!! I called Mohammed at the other store and he totally switched up saying that we'd have to spend ANOTHER $30 to get the $5 off!!! So I need to spend $60 to get $5!! Mohammed played us, y'all! Very Good Oil and Incense shop. Two Indian guys run this place. One of them speaks 7 languages! I think they sell wholesale. They definitely sell to anyone. The prices are very reasonable, they have a good quality oils (African, Indian, Middle Eastern, & Ghetto Designer fragrance knock-offs). They even have some Indian essences that are not on the typcial street market. They have Oil for the Body and Oils for Burning. Beware of what they call "Essential Oils". I've tried a few and they are not all 100% Essential. They are still blended down with some carrier oil. Besides GREAT customer service, the best thing about this place is the selection. They carry hundreds of oils, dozens upon dozens of incense, oil burners, charcoal, fragrant resin stones for burning on charcoal, sage, dozens of exotic soaps and toiletries, raw shea butter, and even different kinds of henna. Taking My Business Elsewhere On Friday October 8th, 2021, I entered the store and turned toward the counter just left of the entrance. I said hello and asked the proprietor if he had any Egyptian Musk in stock. After an unproductive back and forth which entailed him rudely saying things like, "I don't have good oils or bad oils" and "I'm mad every day" I ended up leaving the store without so much as smelling an oil or making a purchase. I have lived in the community for 19 years and shopped with Zam Zam when they were on Crenshaw & 39th. I've never found the customer service to be all that good, but at least tolerable. Yesterday, however, my experience was awful. The proprietor came across rude, likely sexist, possibly racist and not ready to do any kind of business in our community. From here on out, I'll be taking my business elsewhere, like to Taj Mahal further south on Crenshaw, or to Universal Fragrances in front of the Post Office on Crenshaw & 39th. Zam Zam: if you can't get your act together, pack up and leave our neighborhood so businesses who want to serve the community can earn our hard-earned dollars. read more

Probably one of my favorite stores in Crenshaw. It has AUTHENTIC black soap, beeswax, all the essential oils (not just the ones that smell good. The ones that actually do something) and SO MANY authentic products of Africa. I'm elated that Zam Zam is there. I go in everytime I'm in Crenshaw, whether I need something or not lol. It's coo'. It's dusty and cramped in there as to be expected from most natural oil spots. The cashier was very helpful and friendly. There are lots of essential oils natural soaps. I went there for liquid Black Soap and it was $8, too rich for my blood so I'll probably be purchasing it online from now on out. I can't even spend less than $25 every time I come here and even if I haven't been in months on top of months the owners still remember me like it was yesterday. Run! Do Not Pass Go! Do Not Collect $200! Get out of this store. I use to go to this store because I wanted to start my own business of shea butter based hair and body products. I learned that they offered wholesale prices on things. I figured because they were just a 20 minute drive away and the owner SEEMED knowledgeable and nice then hey, why not. They offered the yellow and white shea butter. They had coco butter and what appeared like avocado butter but after carefully looking at it and touching it I could feel that it was just a ball of glycerin based butter/cream. They also had other things from companies like Nubian Heritage, Shea Moisture (Old Discontinued products that the company doesn't make anymore) Pink Salt, Fragrance Oils, Essential oils, sage, incense, and some ingredients like mustard seed oil, black seed oil, soaps, coconut oil, sesame oil and so on. You would figure that hey they have a nice little business here. WRONG. I went through the process of paperwork and money to start my own business, getting LLC Linceses, DBA, Reseller License, Wholesale License, web design, packaging, labels, business cards, shipping insurance and so on and so on, the last thing I needed was for this butt hole to sell me BAD shea butter. I purchased about $200 worth of OLD, BAD, Unusable shea butter. Now this wasn't my 1st purchase so when it happened I was pretty upset. This was maybe my 5th large order of Shea Butter from this company. I has tried different Shea Butters from other companies but I liked that this butter DIDN'T have that smoky nutty smell that other did and it would be easy to cover the burnt nut smell when making my products, big mistake. The butter felt good and had wasn't like any other shea butter I tried. I thought everything was legit until I was sold that bag of bad butter. By the time I got home and was going to start making my batches of butter blends I go through the process of mixing my oils and whatnots but when I melted this butter down it had a film on top of it. I saw a red twist tie surface and I picked it out. I strained it again. More foam bubbles can up. Something wasn't right. So I mix a few batches and I let one sit without adding my mixture to it... The next day all 5 batches were ruined, including the melted batch of butter with nothing in it. It was gritty and the butter no felt like SAND. I couldn't use it. I brought the 80 pound box of crap back to Zam Zam and they accused me of messing with it. They refused to take the remaining butter back. 1st they said I didn't have the box it came in, wrong, I went back to my car and gave them the damn box. Then they said I melted it, ummmm No, I melted this here batch to the side that I showed you, NOT the entire 80 pounds of BAD Butter. He then attempted to kick me out of his store. People came in the store to see this guy yelling at a black woman. Did they help, NO, they just stood and watched. Then the said he was going to call the police on me for trying to rob him, yet I had a receipt for my purchase! One black guy said Hey man you tried to pull one of these stunts on my wife, you know you are wrong, give this sistah her money back. FINALLY!!! If it wasn't for this older Black guy, maybe in his 60's, I was going to have to wait for the police to arrive. The he takes the remaining butter and says well you used it so I'm only going to give you $80 back because it's not bad, its good. It's like this guy wants to argue with you and because you are a WOMAN and BLACK you are an idiot and you are a thief. The 4 other black people that was there watching mad sure that this guy gave me my money back. So he tosses the money at me and yells get out of my store and you better not come back. I didn't say anything, still in shock and I have far too much class, I leave and I will never return. However I will tell EVERYONE I know not to shop at this store. Yeah he is nice when you are spending your money but you can never have an issue or try and make a return, then you are a liar a thief and he will call you a Black Bitch and threaten you like he did me. read more
