This husband and wife operation is the best. So friendly, so kind, so gentle with my dog. I can't say enough good things about them. They go above and beyond. When they heard that I had just moved to the area, they gave me a list of restaurants they thought were good. They didn't have to, but they wanted me to feel more at home in a new place. Oh, and they made my dog, Rhino, look really cute every time. Parking is easy. Grooming (for my dog) usually only took 1.5 hours. don't bother taking a puppy here because they'll tell you the dog needs to be sedated as it's too hard for them. I paid $50 for the other services on the grooming package and didn't even get the haircut because the puppy was "too naughty". I went to Petsmart and they said she absolutely did not need to be sedated (they won't take them sedated) and that she was a normal puppy. I was surprised that the people at a huge corporate chain came across and more friendly dog lovers than this business. I'm going to trust my puppy's instinct on this place because she clearly had more anxiety here and was not the same happy puppy that she is everywhere else. two stars because Im sure the self- bathing option is convenient for people with large dogs. read more

Frisco loves these folks. They are definitely doing this special work because, they love dogs. The converted barn where the Dawg is located is quirky and charming. I love the high ceilings and down home space. It reminds me of my uncles farm. I want to play Corn Hole and catch inside with all the four legged customers. I have looked around town at prices and reviews. They are competitively priced, for sure. Our dog actually loves visiting. We were lucky to find Dawg groomer! Years ago our aging lab needed a groom so she was more comfortable in the last months of her life, they were very gentle with her! Now our aging min pin goes here for nail clipping and she always comes out happier! They are wonderful with our new little Labradoodle puppy who is a ton of wiggles! This is the only place that our Chihuahua will let her nails get clipped, so it's worth it for just that. Some reviewers mention that the Chinese lady is rude. That's just a cultural thing. She's perfectly friendly to us, even though she can sometimes be short/curt. No biggie. read more

Hello, my name is Kayla and I am owner of a male pit mix he is about eight years old and he hates going to get his nails cut. I was dumped by my groomer in town I won't name names but when I did get dumped I Came across this place And I am so happy that I did. The owners are so nice and loving especially to these poor animals that are scared out of their mind to get their nails cut. I usually have to take my dog for a long walk and go play ball with him for about an hour to get him tired so that he wouldn't be such a pill when I would take him to my old groomer. Not this groomer all I have to do is just take my dog to the park and play fetch with him for maybe 30 minutes and then take him to get his nails cut this place gives treats and encourages good behavior and also rewards it. I am the exhausted owner of the strongest willed Portuguese Water Dog in the 800-year recorded history of the breed. The Vet shakes his head in pity. Her own Grandmother refuses to watch her. And yet, she IS the love of my life, so I am so thankful for the no-nonsense owners of Dawg Groomer. They schedule her last in the day, so she doesn't incite a riot. They give her treats and they don't laugh at my predicament, at least not to my face. She comes out with a perfect Retriever cut, trimmed nails, and clean ears that frame her face like a regal Cleopatra. Plus, she smells sweeeeet, and it is so nice to write the word sweet in any regard to my dog. Dawg Groomer offers DIY dog wash stations in addition to full grooming services. Scheduling is quick and easy, street parking is ample and the prices are fair. I hate to write a bad review for local business, but I had a terrible experience here. My goldendoodle had gotten clipped here twice before, both times they did a pretty good job, although never really did a great job of following my requests, but he always looked fine and the price was reasonable. For our most recent appointment, as we opened the front door, a dog ran out, began aggressively barking and biting my dog at the neck (to the point that I was a little scared), and then ran out into the street. We were very alarmed that this would be allowed to happen - not only was I concerned for my dog, but there are cars driving by! Although in the end it turned out it was a dog someone was trying to wash in the self serve tubs, it was a terrible welcome and made my dog extremely nervous. We got no apology from anyone, and no one came out to help or address the situation. Instead of a hello or a welcome, the women who runs the shop looked at us as if she was appalled. The first words out of her mouth were, "He has grown too much. He will be much more expensive" in a rude and aggressive tone. She continued to repeat this over and over, but would not give us a price estimate until the fourth time I asked. I should note that our dog has only grown 5lbs since our last visit, I kid you not. We were quoted a price $20 more than our last visit, "plus $75 an hour to brush him out on top of the bath and hair cut". The woman was rude, insulting, and would not answer questions during our entire conversation. I was so angry I walked right out the door. Instead of paying for grooming, I took my money to Petco and bought grooming tools, did some reading on the internet about dog grooming, and did the trim and brush out myself for far less money. In the future when I need more major grooming done, I will absolutely go elsewhere. read more

We got in quickly, but my dog looked like it had been unevenly shaven, with a strange uneven poof at the end of his tail. This woman who owns this place is a nightmare. Last time around I told her she was rude, not friendly toward the dogs, and that she needs to be more approachable. Today I called for an appt., her husband or the guy that works for her asked if she would take my cocker spaniel today, and she said yes - at 11:30. Two minutes later, the woman herself calls back and says the last time my dog was in she had a problem with whoever picked her up, and she decided she didn't want my business. Way to go lady. The woman who owns this business had been very rude to me in the past, but I thought we had worked it out and "made up"I have an elderly Sheltie and an Australian Shepherd. I bought the Australian Shepherd from a breeder who said he was a miniature who would weigh no more then 20 lbs when full grown, a size I could deal with and bathe myself.This dog now weighs almost 60 lbs and doesn't even look like as Australian Shepherd. By the time I realized the dog was a genetic error I had come to love him dearly. I took both dogs to Dawg Groomers for several years until the last time when the owner seemed in an especially bad mood and snappish. When I went to pick up the dogs they charged me $100 instead of the usual $90. When I asked why, and why hadn't they told me before I left the dogs, the owner became very hostile,told her husband to tell me she didn't want to groom the dogs again because picking up the big dog hurt her back! I wanted to ask why her husband didn't pick up the dog, but I was so angry that I told them I would never bring my dogs there again. I should have listened to the dog trainers next door who told me they could hear the through the common wall that the dogs were treated roughly. I absolutely love this place! They have 2 areas here! The first one as you walk in to the left is an area where you can bathe your dog your self! The other area to the right is the front counter and also where the groomer is! This place is awesome because you have the option of having a groomer clean up your dog or doing it your self! Their prices are great! The quality is awesome! My beloved dog Nikki was a beautiful German Shepherd with a bit of separation anxiety...She hated her feet being touched and had no problem trying to escape when the opportunity presented itself! The owners at Dawg Groomer were very receptive and understanding of her issues!!!...There were times when I would take her and bathe her myself to ease her stress and there were also times that I would leave her for them to do it! They did a great job at keeping her safe! She was always calm and relaxed when I picked her up and they always did an amazing job on her....She loved both the owners! I moved away to the East Coast for a few years...I brought her back for what I didnt realize would be her last bath! My sweet girl! ...The owner came right over while I was bathing her and remembered who she was! He gave her all kinds of love and she remembered him and was very happy for the attention! Since her passing, I still go there to bathe my other dogs and the place is always clean and the owner always has a happy dog on the table! Yes, the owners are particular about the types of dogs they work on and understandably so! A groomer has to protect themselves as well as the dog in their care!...If they say they cant do a dog for you, then it is simply because they truly care about the well being of the pet! There isnt much they turn away, but when they do, it is for very good reasons! Hence the beauty of having another area to groom your dog yourself! I've never posted before - but Dawg is so great I had too. We've used Dawg Groomer for years, since we lived in Petaluma. We now live in Santa Rosa and still go back to Dawg. We've tried a number of groomers in Santa Rosa, but have found our two dogs always look best, and more importantly are happy after going to Dawg. So with a Terrier and Cocker Spaniel (the spaniel getting up in years), we find the trek to Dawg in Petaluma well worth the effort. read more

I came to this place several times and they made a great job on my dog but a woman there has the WORST attitude. I dealt with it because I liked the work on my dog. I called to ask if there was a spot opened by any chance for the day of and she shouted no at me! I knew they wouldn't but I thought it didn't hurt to try and see if there was a cancellation. I have gone to this place for 15 years, as some one else owned it to begin with. We had 2 dogs and I used only the Dawg Groomer out. Of dedication to a local Petaluma place. Today is the last time I will let the women who is the owner be rude to me ! I go in the mornings because I work in the afternoons and she once again scolded me for wanting my dogs toes trimmed and clipped, even went so far as to completely ignore me until another customer came in and she was forced to talk to me. When I asked if she had time to clip my dogs nails I was informed the mornings are to busy,, and not very nicely I might add, I was surprised as there was one other dog in there when I arrived. I left and went to Pet Co, they did the same job for 1/2 the price and got me to book a full trim. My sadness- I don't get to give my money to a local. Now for the owner, you have watched me walk through you door for 10 years and yet you still treat me badly, it is clear you are not a local and I for one will never bother you again to trim my dog or take my money .
