Woohoo for local donut shop!!! Their Vietnamese iced coffee packs quite a refreshing punch esp on these hot Houston summer days. My faves so far are the cream cheese donut (imagine a cinnamon roll, but the cinnamon is replaced with cream cheese danish filling...yummmmm), the boudin kolache, and the jumbo sausage with jalapeno. Their service is excellent and friendly and I'm always walking away with some extra donut holes or even an extra donut in my bag! Def a new favorite to hit up when I'm passing by or craving that cream cheese donut. read more

You'd have to have beach ball sized lady nuts to open a donut shop across the street from a Shipley's with a drive thru and Dawn Donuts delivers with the Vietnamese Iced Coffee alone! It's handcrafted and well worth the wait it takes to make. The variety of Kolaches and breakfast items besides the delectable donuts blows the competition away! Hubby loves the boudin kolaches and I crave their bacon and egg croissant sandwich and egg tacos. The kids love the donut holes and sprinkle donuts. Ok so instead of arguing over krispy kreme or Shipley's, do yourself a favor and get the best donuts in Houston. I've tried donuts all over the country and by far they have the best glazed donuts I've ever had the fortune of taking a bite out of. Their breakfast sandwiches and kolaches look even better. Best donut holes I've had in years. Staff are extremely friendly and generous - they threw in an extra blueberry donut (also DELICIOUS) for free with my half-dozen order. We walked in on a quiet Thursday! Instantly greeted with the most genuine smile from an older man. We got a dozen donuts- mainly glazed, a few different cake donuts. Priced almost too cheap- they could charge more for sure! Have us napkins! Smiled some more. My husband and I tried the glaze in the car (have I mentioned we are donut freaks)? Haha! The donuts don't taste/ look like they've been out all day. There is Shipleys in Dunkin' Donuts right next-door, but I wanted to try this mom-and-pop place. Glad I did! Food: sugar and glazed doughnuts are like cake doughnuts, and had good texture and taste. Boudin kolache - spicy and delicious. Sausage and cheese kolache - good. Service: fast and friendly. Will definitely repeat, and try their Vietnamese coffee and other doughnut varieties. read more

seriously good donuts! i've tried several other places but have remained loyal to Shipley's since Shipleys has been favorite since childhood. I hate to say it but Dawn's is way better!! their donuts are fluffier and their cake donuts are just perfection! i was even greeted with a smile and enthusiasm which is something you don't get at the Shipleys across the street. I normally only eat donuts on Sundays but this place is good enough to come back for more during the week. they don't serve the fancy/ecclectic donuts but i am 100% ok with that because i like my donuts simple and classic. this place is definitely a jewel in my neighborhood! read more

I would like to say first that this place waz squeky clean. I was impressed. Dawn's Donuts is really good. Better than the other donuts place which is housed caty corner to Dawn's. I bought donut holes, glazed donuts, chocolate glazed donuts, cinnamon twists, apple fritters, and a cream chz thing that looked like a cinnamon roll without cinnamon. It was all really good, except the apple fritter was soo greasy. Too bad theirs not one where I'm from. I will be back next time I'm in town tho. read more
