I came here when they first opened with my husband and everything we had was fine but every menu item was a bit complicated for his taste. He's a basic steak and potatoes kind of guy. I came a second time by myself and I think that'll be the last trip for me. I went pretty early on a weeknight. They sat me in a corner at the with a family right next to me even though the room had other empty tables (they were so close they bumped into my table when they got up to leave). I eat out alone pretty frequently and don't usually mind a small space but when the restaurant is half empty, they shouldn't be seating anyone in a corner at a table so small it could barely fit the relish tray, a salad and an order of fries. I was there for girl dinner with a book and wound up listening to this family's entire meal. We had our wedding anniversary dinner at Dawn Manor this Monday, and seeing as that is not a regular dining night for most, we didn't expect it to be as wonderful as it was. We both loved all of the history of the house and the staff let us look into all of the lovingly designed rooms before we went downstairs and had cocktails. The bartender was absolutely fantastic with both her skills and conversation and we felt so welcomed. We had two cocktails each, my favorite was the Lake Michigan Fog and my husband's was the smoked old fashioned. When we went upstairs we had a cozy table in the " haunted room " complete with a classy " happy anniversary " sign that made us feel even more special. Since we had an excellent shrimp cocktail in the bar that was so fresh and delicious, we started with salads - both the wedge and the manor salad were larger than expected and the house dressing is superb. I had the filet which they admitted to having to remake since the first didn't turn out perfect and the one they served me certainly was. We had sides of broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes that were not overly seasoned but perfectly complimented the meal. The wine list, while not too extensive, was very thoughtful as well and we had a great Cakebread Cab that was perfect with steak. While we enjoy finishing a dinner with espresso, we settled for coffee and strawberry shortcake, and they even sent us home with a chocolate mousse as a gift. What a fun new spot in the Dells. It was easy to find and nicely updated. This place is huge. We went up a grand staircase to our table. Service was friendly and food was really good! Lots of options. The Wisconsin brandy old fashioned was delicious! The cheese curds were perfection. The burger was enormous but nice quality meat. I love historic homes and restaurants that are unique. This place caught my eye on our way back to our hotel. We didn't have a reservation and was able to get in and seated in a room of our choosing...the Haunted Room! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was on her first day and we couldn't even tell. We ordered coffee which was deliciously rich and smooth. I am picky with coffee and this one was perfect. I would say the salmon was better than at another well known supper club in the same area. The Manor Salad was a huge portion with fresh spring mix, a lot of candied walnuts, and the salmon add on was full filet. I had the Harper Pasta which had quite a bit of shrimp and a large portion of pasta. Overall, a great experience and beautiful place to enjoy a nice meal. read more

Walked in Monday at 4pm, restaurant had no other patrons we could see, parking lot empty. Hostess asked if we had reservation, we did not, sat us at a back corner table where one of us had to look at the wall. We requested another table which was begrudgingly complied with. Server was ok but not friendly; neither was the hostess. Had to request server for the relish tray. Ceasar salad dressing was very bland. We shared the large salad however for a restaurant of this caliber I feel the server should have asked if we'd like it split, or at the very least brought us two salad plates. Steak and chop were very good. Cocktails didn't even fill the small glasses although mixed well. I'd like to give a better review because we had high expectations for this restaurant given it's interesting history but unfortunately I cannot. read more

We drove by this place last year when it was still in the construction phase so for sure wanted to try this place out on our weekend trip. We were here on Friday night, was a bit surprised they didn't have a fish fry special but was not a big deal. I'd heard portions were large so knowing me and my sister both wanted the meatloaf, I suggested splitting it. We also tacked on the loaded potato soup, wedge salad and the brussel sprouts. Everything was so good! The wedge salad came with a ton of crumbled bleu cheese, iceberg lettuce was crisp and cold, perfect. Loaded potato soup was delicious. The brussel sprouts were plentiful, flavorful, and crispy. The cheese stuffed meatloaf was really good, placed on top of mashed potatoes and topped with mac and cheese, plus veggies. Loved seeing the mocktail section. I got the demure mule and my sister got the peach Collins. We enjoyed both. Service was great. We liked starting out with a sample of their dream soda, butterscotch flavor. The restaurant is beautiful. There are a variety of rooms to be seated in. We were seated upstairs. I was surprised that the bathrooms were near the speakeasy in basement. With it being new construction, I would have thought each floor would have had bathrooms. There is also a cute gift shop. There were a lot of hits at this new hot spot in the Dells. Parking lot is open and grounds are beautiful as you enter. Downstairs speakeasy is very cool and fun. We sat upstairs by the window and were thankful that we had a great spot. Prime rib and walleye were delicious. Waitstaff were good at their jobs. A few misses: downstairs bathroom smelled very musty. No rolls, crackers, or homemade bread of any kind offered. We were celebrating a special occasion and no perks or fun treats were given or acknowledged. There is a lot of potential for this space and it was a fun experience, but other spots in the Dells might compete on a higher level when it comes to a special night out. read more

This has to be a Wisconsin Dells gem! They just opened up earlier this year, and someone in our group found this place and made a reservation for a party of 8, including two children. As you walk in, you'll see a gift shop, and the maître d's post directly facing the door. You're then shown to your table - they have dining rooms in the main floor as well as the upper floor. Their bathrooms are down in the basement next to the speakeasy bar. Their menu offers a lot of classic American and hearty variety, ranging from prime ribs, to meatloaf with Mac n cheese, to salmon dishes. The top favorite was the prime rib (this is a MUST TRY!) and the salmon dish was great! The Mac n cheese and meatloaf was also a classic. They offer some good appetizers and desserts. Have been here many times since they opened, and have tried nearly everything on the menu and really enjoyed the place. Unfortunately this visit was underwhelming. The $32 Honest Abe meatloaf was not good, potato soup had a single chunk of potsto in it and the steak crostini had an odd flavor. Unlike many diners who have a subpar experience, I made a point to give a heads up to the manager. Bad move. After being curtly offered a free desert, removal of entree charge, replacement, etc. (all declined, I wasn't looking for a freebie) I was then informed that he has opened 93 restaurants, apparently I must be in the wrong. While the issues with the food wouldn't prevent me from returning, the s arky attitude we received will have us spending our money in the Dells' other restaurants. Manor salad was delish, asked for extra goat cheese but was disappointed with quantity still. I don't want to be a hater so really what I'm getting at is that this place has the potential to be an incredible spot. Ambiance needs an edge of mystery or intrigue. We shared the steak crostini, which was really good. My husband ordered the uppy burger and I had the cheesesteak. I can't tell you how disappointed we are in our first visit to Dawn Manor. I should say we were embarrassed for them for this dining experience. We went in with high expectations and looked forward to a wonderful experience. Unfortunately we have dubbed it the Haunted Mansion rather than Dawn Manor. I assume this was a very bad late Saturday afternoon for them but hard to believe it was an isolated event. With reservations in hand, we arrived early and had a great drink with the bartender Germany at the smaller bar. Very nice drink, atmosphere and Germany was great to chat with. After that it was a steep drop of a cliff. Our waitress greeted us and she was obviously drunk and incoherent. I can't imagine how the management team let her serve anyone. Unfortunate. Started with the Shrimp Tower which is a nice presentation but for $25 for 6 medium shrimps and not enough sauce... very disappointing. The ribeye was full of gristle. The au gratin potatoes were a very small serving. The chicken was very small. Lastly, the salad was served without dressing. Unfortunate outing, 3 meals, a confused and drowsy, slurring waitress and a $200 bill. The place was filling up and did not want to make a compliant with a busy front house crew. What good would of done and we just wanted to leave at this point. Paid bill and left, found it difficult to believe this happened with high expectations and other people who left strong Yelp reviews. What an amazing place! Decor was just as expected, they had old newspapers and pictures framed with descriptions all over the restaurant which were very fun to read. The speakeasy is in the basement and although it's not very secretive, it definitely looks as a speakeasy should! Food was amazing, I had the ribeye with lobster and garlic mash, the mashed potatoes were good, but not very warm, steak and lobster was cooked perfectly, the presentation was neat. Service was very good, our server who's name was Onur and the manager did a great job of making sure our food and experience was good. I am a local and will be coming back in the near future! Pretty much everything was at best a 3. Service was kinda slow, never asked if we wanted a second drink (wouldn't have had one, but still). We had pot pie and the hamburger. Pot pie was good, hamburger is nearly impossible to eat as a hamburger need to use fork and knife and way to expensive for what it is. Ambiance is very nice except it is very loud upstairs. We had the Walleye and Amish Chicken. Both were excellent! We sat in the Raab Room on the top floor which was full and very noisy, and we were seated at a small table close to the back stairs. They were also out of filet, which was what I originally intended to have for dinner. All of this is why I rated a 4 and not 5, but the restaurant is beautiful, the food service quick, and the staff super friendly. Likely just some new opening bumps to overcome but the food is top notch, and we will absolutely be back. Our lunch was wonderful. I had the Prime Rib Sandwich and my wife had the Lobster Roll Sandwich. Both were great. Server was very helpful and friendly and shared some background on the relocation of the restaurant. The interior is impeccably decorated with artwork and furnishings from the original Dawn Manor on Lake Delton. Every room is unique and has its own character and history. At Dawn Manor you're not a customer, you're a treasured guest from the greeter who held the door open for us to the Manager coming by our table to inform us of the history of the Manor. His were very interesting story's about famous historical figures. The main event, the food, is outstanding. My wife had the prime rib and I had the filet mignon. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful! My filet was crusty on the outside and pink in the middle, perhaps the best ever! We surely plan on making the three hour drive from Chicago to patronize Dawn Manor again. Finally, Dawn Manor accepts reservations. We just got back and it was a great experience. A new waiter was being trained and he was very friendly and attentive. We split the steak crostini' which was very good. My wife got the lobster mac & cheese, which was excellent and I chose the prime rib for my dinner. Which was the best prime I've ever had. The scallop potatoes with leeks are great. We went here on a Thursday night with a group of 8. We were seated immediately and also drinks were delivered immediately. Plenty of staff to take care of our needs and all staff very friendly and personable. For apps we ordered the deviled eggs and dates...beyond delicious! Out server Annamarie was a delight and very good! My husband and I ordered the Abe Lincoln Meatloaf dish and it was out of this world! The rest of our party enjoyed their dishes and we all agreed the best food we've had in the dells. We tried Dawn Manor for the first time. It was just ok. We were sat in the upstairs area. It was loud and hard to hear. We were given a free shot/drink that was famous to the story of the house. Very sweet. I'd rather bread service or relish tray vs. the drink. Our meals were good. We both had prime rib. It was ok. Not stellar. The potato casserole was bad.
