There is a lot to like about this place, but a few things keep it from a 5 star experience. It was our first time here. We have been talking forever about dinner there, but it's a two hour drive from Milwaukee. So we ended up making it an overnight experience, and we're glad that we did. I don't have to say too much about the location, it's beautiful. The lake and the surrounding woods are very pretty. The leaves were just starting to turn, which made it even better. Came with another couple, got there around 5 p.m., and was told there would be a 2 to 2.5 hour wait. No worries, we were prepared for that (happiness is all about setting the correct expectations). We found a spot at one of the six bars and had a cocktail. Then went down to the lake and listened to the live music performed by a solo guitarist. He was "okay." They give you a little pager that buzzes when your table is ready. Ours went off around 7:00. Got a nice table looking out over the lake. The sun was mostly down, so not as nice as before. Our server got to us right away, set us up with waters and menus, and went through the specials. She was efficient but not overly friendly. We ordered drinks and had some cheese spread and breadsticks to munch on. The dining room was pretty full, and there was a large table of eight people next to us. They were having a great time, and at times were very loud, enough to be a bit distracting. Drinks came pretty quick, and my Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet was traditional and very good. We ordered dinner consisting of the Ribeye, New York Strip, Rack of Lamb, and Prime Rib/Shrimp Combo. While we waited, we got a basket of warm rolls. Those were very tasty. But they don't provide a relish tray (this is a supper club, right?). It did not take very long for the food to come out. It was all the right temps and good sized portions. My lamb was done medium rare, just how I like it. My sweet potato mash was hot, with brown sugar and pecans. Although the lamb was good, it wasn't great. It could have been a bit more tender and flavorful. It was helped by the Port Wine Demi Glace, but excellent lamb can stand on its own. The rest of the table thought their entrees were good, but nobody was raving about them. All of the meats were a bit on the chewy side, and not as flavorful as you might expect from a Supper Club. There was enough left over to take some back with us. We had seen the dessert tray, so we decided to each try something different: Brandy Alexander, Salted Caramel Crunch Cake, Chocolate Mousse, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. My Salted Caramel Crunch Cake was overly salted (but I finished it). The Brandy Alexander was very good, hand mixed with nice chunks. The other two desserts were "okay." I have to mention that the overall service was good but felt a bit rushed. We were out of there in about an hour. Our server was happy to take a few photos of us and did a good job with that. Overall, it was a good experience, glad we did it, but probably not a spot that we would need to return to.

Saw a sign driving to the dells and it said this was Wisconsin #1 supper club so I had to go. This place does not do reservations, just first come first serve, so I was nervous about making dinner plans there. Upon arriving, this place was huge so its kind of just a matter of time to get a table. Theres a long road going here, so at night it was kind of creepy lol. Walked in and they said 30 minutes til we get a table. We went and had a drink from one of the bars that was outside and ordered a appetizer while waiting. All the staff was very helpful and friendly. We got seated and ordered a couple different items on the menu. The wait was never that long for the food and we enjoyed everything we had. It was too much food so we had a lot to go and I feel like the price was pretty good for a supper club. Great experience and would love to go back when I'm in town again!

Love, love Ishnala! This is our 3rd visit to Ishnala in the last 4 years. We started coming here when we were in the area for an RV rally. Now, we come to this area only for Ishnala - it's that good. Dinner seating if 4 pm and the doors open between 3:20 and 3:30. Often times, the owner, Bob Prosser is at the door greeting people. He's an amazing people person and he continuously makes the rounds of all the bars and dining areas throughout the evening. We usually make a beeline for the Arrowhead bar and find seats. Then we step up to the bar and order our favorite drink here, their Brandy Old Fashioned - sweet (Sprite). They are SO good and they server around 200,000 of them a season. When we arrived, our name and party size (2) were taken. We were given a pager and told it would be about 45 minutes to an hour to be seated for dinner. Fine with us and we knew this from past visits. Our wait ended up being an hour. This gave us time to have 1-1/2 Old Fashioneds at the bar. Perfect! We took the rest of our second drink to our dinner table and didn't need to order wine or other cocktails with dinner. I also want to mention Leah, one of the bartenders down in Arrowhead. This woman is so pleasant and wow - super efficient. She's great. I got a picture with here this year too. All over Ishnala, outside, inside and on every level of the facility, it's so warm and inviting. The interior decor is naturally rustic for a pleasing ambiance. Once upstairs, seated at one of the dining tables, our server, Jovana greeted us warmly. She had butter, cheese and crackers, plus waters delivered to the table. Nice. Later, Jovana told us about the nightly special. We already knew what we wanted for dinner so we placed our order. The two of us shared: - Shrimp Ishnala appetizer (amazing) - Prime Rib (medium rare) with 4 Broiled Prawns - Dinner Salad with House Dressing (part of the dinner) - Basket of Dinner Rolls and Tiny Cinnamon Swirl Rolls (part of the dinner) The Shrimp Ishnala appetizer was amazing. We order it each time we visit Ishnala. I can't wait to try to reproduce this at home. Bob Prosser stopped by our table to check on us. This guy is a class act. He genuinely wants to know how your dinner service is going and I'm sure he'd make it right if there was a need. This is such a nice touch and one of the things, among many that make Ishnala so special and worth coming back to and telling others about. We will continue to stop at Ishnala each time we're in the area (from Texas now). Thanks Bob and team for another fantastic experience.

You come here and should expect a wait. The wait isn't bad because at any of the many bars you can order drinks and apps. The ambiance is so lovely around. Music. Great Lake vibes. I am allergic to beef and everything is cooked in beef tallow BUT you can ask them to cook in a different oil. For food we got an app of the spinach and artichoke dip. Then had the dinner salads and bread (the cinnamon roll was divine!) and cheese and crackers. The cheese spread was sooooo good. I can't place what it was but it had such an umami flavor. For dinner my partner had the prime rib and I had the salmon. Both were divine. We also ate dessert and had a fantastic salted caramel cake. We would go again for a special treat

There's really nothing I can say that haven't been said before. You will have to go and check it out yourself. This place has great food, great staff, and great drinks. The view overlooking the water is just beautiful. If you are looking to checkout the supper clubs in Wisconsin, make sure Ishnala is one of the ones on the end of your list, because if you put them on top, you might not want to visit any other supper clubs.

Always a great time. Several bars to experience ... haven't done the outside one yet, as too many tourists. The bartenders are phenomonal and the drinks are just right. Great ambiance for tourists and locals alike. The Apps are every bit as good as the dining experience of full entrees, so we typically choose not to wait for the extensive (hour+++) lines for dining times. Hang at the bar and enjoy!

Upon arrival this place is pretty unbelievable. The drive is very pretty and the scenery surrounding the restaurant is spectacular. It's a busy place so be prepared to wait almost 2 hours for a table. You are able to sit and enjoy any of the 4 bars available in and around the restaurant while you wait for a table. So this review is mostly just for the inside bar because we didn't eat dinner. We sat at the U shaped bar which is located towards the back of the restaurant. Windows surround the bar on 3 sides. You have views of the water below, the hillside, the woodlands and the bars located below the restaurant and closer to the beach area. We were lucky and arrived near sunset so the lighting was very pretty. We ordered our drinks. I asked for something that wasn't on the menu, a Negroni and the lady bartender quickly responded that they don't make those so I ordered one from their cocktail menu. The reason for my lower star review is because this bartender was inattentive, and rude. She was very stern and unfriendly and didn't want to answer questions we had about the restaurant. I was pretty turned off by her, which is why we decided to have one cocktail, an order of bread, and the esgarcot. The cocktail was good but the escargot was REALLY GOOD! I recommend getting this if you try this place out! So we never made it for the long wait for a dinner table. Perhaps we will try again one day. It's a big bummer that bartender was so off-putting.

Having moved to Wisconsin about six years ago, we are familiar with the supper clubs that don't take reservations and seet you in order of your arrival. We arrived quite early with some friends and toured the grounds, then stood in line until the doors opened. When we reached the front of the line, we requested a window seat For our party of four, and then proceeded to the bar straight ahead. We all sampled the Wisconsin old-fashioned with Brandy and were commenting about the number served year to date, especially considering they were only open for a few weeks already this season. When the kitchen opened, our pager went off and the four of were seated at a beautiful window seat. The ambience here cannot be beat. Our view over mirror Lake was nothing short of spectacular. Our group ordered one tenderloin two chicken Oscars and one shrimp entrée. There was also a French soup ordered, and more beverages. Our bills came with a salad, a side, and a bread basket. We thought for the view the ambience, our efficient service and are very good meals that even though it's a bit more than other Wisconsin supper clubs or meals were fabulous. We all agreed we would love to return again. It's a bit of a drive from Madison especially the drive home. But it's worth it. we also had the opportunity to speak with the manager, or was it the owner, and we were talking about the number of old-fashioned served here to date and the most popular menu items. If you haven't been here to add it to your list of things to do. Arrive early.

The vibes here are strong! it honestly felt like an glamorous adult summer camp. My boyfriend's sister introduced me to all things Wisconsin supper club, and I'm so glad she brought us here for my first experience. I wish I'd gotten to experience the full 4+ hour wait during the day, since it sounds like you can enjoy the lake, beach, and explore the beautiful grounds. We arrived around 8 p.m. and were seated about 45 minutes later, so I didn't quite get the full Ishnala "day camp" experience. The food was good, I actually loved the appetizers more than the main course. The cocktails were fantastic, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. I can't wait to go back... and honestly, I wouldn't even mind waiting five hours next time (which says a lot)!

I don't know how it's taken me so long to visit Ishnala given my love for old fashioned cocktails! Some friends and I went for drinks la and it was such a beautiful location. Be prepared for lines and parking can be challenging. I'd recommend the overflow lot...or better yet, hike Mirror lake and head over for a drink after. The Wisconsin brandy old fashioned was pretty good although I love my fruit muddled. It would be impossible to offer this given the how busy they are. Staff we encountered were nice and the bartenders are super good at making quick cocktails. definitely go and enjoy the view. If you want to eat expect 2-5 hour waits or go for some drinks and apps.

Be prepared for a long wait but it is worth it! First, just order shrimp ishnala. Don't even question it, amazing! So much flavor! We also had a seafood platter and steak. It was all fantastic. Sweet potato has a lot of fall spices. Little small cinnamon rolls in the bread basket reminds me of the pecan rolls from Aldis which are great. The vanilla Carmel crunch cake was also full of flavor and loved the crunch. Service was not super friendly. It was good service but just not super friendly. Would go back daily if I could!

NO RESERVATIONS. Came here at 530, was told the wait was going to be 3.5 hours and that we couldn't leave the property with the pager or it would deactivate. Well you know what I did?? I threw that pager in the bush and left!! Came back 2 hours later and yep still had to wait out the 90 minutes. Checked out their 3 bars and the beach, ordered some drinks and apps, we wanted to save our stomach for the food so we only order 1 app. Food was ok.. not really worth waiting almost 4 hours for. Don't get me wrong, the place is nice because it's right on the lake, but cmonnnn you have 3 bars and tons of space, could have at least turned some of those places into dining area. But instead you're banking on people ordering booze and apps cause that's probably your money maker. Experienced it once and probably won't ever be going back, unless they somehow shorten the wait time or set up some kind of reservation system.

While in Wisconsin Dells we decided to see if Ishnala Supper Club liived up to the hype. We thought it did, even with the four hour wait. While we waited we passed the time by enjoying live music on the beach, visiting the gift shop, and enjoying appetizers and cocktails at the bar. We'd definitely be back, but will more than likely only grab appetizers and drinks at the bar (there's four to choose from!). What we tried: - Appetizers: prime spears, sheimp Ishnala, and the spinach artichoke dip -Entrees: prime rib & jump fried shrimp, filet and butterflied prawn, filet mignon, and golden fried shrimp -Drinks: Wiscollins, Hoffman's chocolatini, classic old-fashioned, and Capital Brewery Supper Club beer

I always plan 90 mins but can be 2 hours. It just depends on what time u arrive....if u get there before 445 then the wait time is shorter.

I'll be honest, at first our sever seemed like a jerk, but quickly turned it around. We started with the cheesecurds, we ate every single one of them. The salads that come with dinner were the perfect size and the bread was a nice touch. We went with a couple of different steaks and they were some of the best cuts we have ever had. As avid 801 Chop in Minneapolis this place blew them out of the water. Second best thing were the mashed potatoes- holy crap, so good! The reason for my 4/5 stars is that a margarita in a small bar glass should not be $15. Our total bill for 2 lobster bisques, 1 6 oz filet, 1 16 oz ribeye, a beer, and a margarita was $172. Ate here on NYE 2025 looking for that authentic Wisconsin "supper club" feel. I've been to a dozen…read more"supper clubs", and I'm still not sure what is supposed to differentiate it from a restaurant. That's all it is. A restaurant. You order your food, they bring it to you, you eat it, you leave. Which is fine. But the mystique in the name escapes me. On that note, at this allegedly renown "supper club" which we made reservations for because it was NYE, the disappointment began with walking in the door. There was a line out the door to approach the host stand, with no guidance as to whether everyone in line had a reservation and was checking in or whether they were just trying to get a table. The two 60+ year old women working it were clearly exasperated, flustered, and had zero efficiency or command of the situation. It was like it was their first night working there, although I doubt this to be the case. At one point the loud-mouthed single mom with her entourage of single-mom daughters announced loudly that she was "going to get sh!t done, because that's what I do!" Well despite the fact that she was a classless pig, it worked. All she had to do was bark at the hostess and she was whisked away to a table. Finally I was able to check in, at this point THEY (not me) were over 20 minutes past my reservation time. They said they'd seat me shortly. Another 15 minutes passed before we were seated. In the meantime, they had an old (80+ years old) crooner walking the lounge singing with his wireless mic accompanied by a man playing keyboard. He was a sweet old man, and he needs to retire. For good. If he needs the money, I understand. But his voice was about as good as his eyesight. Embers should not have scheduled him as the "entertainment". There is no ATM in Embers, and although I always carry cash I had used the last $20 in my wallet prior to our arrival. I walked to the other "supper club" across the street (Del Bar), used their ATM to get cash, and returned to tip the god-awful but well-intended singer and his musician - but they were packing up. It was 3 hours before midnight. Pretty early to stop the music. I then reminded the hostess that I was still alive, and she led us to a "booth" in the "lounge". This bar is the stuff of 1950's Vegas, and hasn't been cleaned or painted since then. The "booth" they sat the 3 of us in was like an RV dining booth - barely big enough for my average male build on one side, and not fitting my adult wife and daughter (both petite) on the other. There was a cocktail tray sitting on the top of the backrest, which the hostess apparently wasn't going to remove. Additionally, we were now almost in the playing area of the musician - who was packing up. So we are supposed to sit here while he winds his wires 3 feet from us and lugs out keyboards, stands, etc. The hostess fled before I had made up my mind that this was unacceptable - which was clear, but my family was starving and I was considering walking the fine line of "at least we'll eat now." Turns out, I didn't. I was so enraged that they sat us in an RV booth while the band disassembled that I went to the host stand and told her we'd wait for a table not in steerage class. Despite probably having a young grandparent on the Titanic she didn't understand the reference. I spelled it out more clearly when a drunk middle aged male interrupted and demanded to know why there was a 20% gratuity added to his bill, and she pointed to the fine print on the NYE "special" menu that spelled it out. Then he wanted to argue about why they calculate the tip after tax, and she explained that's Wisconsin law. Finally I told him to wait until I'm done before he does his taxes at the host stand, and he shut up. The hostess then found another table for us, in a room that was dated and crowded. We acquiesced. Once dinner arrived, my wife had average filet mignon and below average lobster tail. I had their "special" ribs that are supposed to be world-famous, and they were about a 3 of 5 stars. Slightly smokey flavor, cooked well, slight bit of char, and a good basic sauce. But not much meat. Clearly the House of Embers was looking to be the House of 1000% Profit Margin on NYE. My daughter's meal was so lacking I can't even remember what it was. I realize that this review focuses more on the "experience" than the food, but Yelp asks "how would you rate your experience?" Well, the experience was bad. With the perspective that I have some nerve narrating first-world problems while most of the world would love to have my "bad" experience, I'm addressing it for what it is: I paid for one thing, I got another. And the "other" was a big disappointment. Next time I'll try the Del Bar and hope for better.

The appetizers came out promptly and deliciously presented. I also had their homemade beef barley soup that was to die for overall I thought everything was really good. I also had a steak. It wasn't the best steak I've ever had so they lost the star as I thought there was too much fat and it wasn't the best quality cut.

I would have preferred to show up earlier, as we had no choice to bring our 5 and 3 year old that we were vacationing with. All of the staff were extremely friendly. We ordered the Nueskes bacon appetizer: very giant pieces of bacon. While tasty, it was still a bit fatty and I think I honestly prefer regular bacon. We both ordered a 12 oz Filet mignon. I got the Bleu cheese crust and my husband got the Parmesan crust. It was quite a thick crust on top and definitely added to the experience. While it was quite good, I'm not sure I'd say it was the best steak I've ever had, and certainly didn't seem worth $80. The sides were ginormously portioned, even when we got the half side of mashed potatoes for "two" we didn't finish. While we planned on going out for free dinner with the kids afterward, the kids meal prices were not outrageous so we just ordered their meals at the same time. Both dinners came with fries and fruit, so seemed like a decent value. The cocktails were reasonably priced (around $15 each). I would have liked to try more items, but my husband probably would have lost his cool if we spent even more money. The ambiance is nice, but we spent the majority of the time trying to shush our children and not disturb other guests. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience, but not quite worth the price tag.

I made a reservation in advance on OpenTable, showed up a little early, and was immediately seated in a small, L-curved booth that could probably accommodate two, but it was perfect for one. And as a bonus, I had a lovely view of the pond and fountain outside the restaurant window. My server, Rufina, was perfect, too. She covered all the specials, delivered every course with perfect timing, and chatted and checked in just enough to make me feel valued but not overly watched. As I finished each course, my plates were also whisked away efficiently by other restaurant staff. I started with the Manhattan from their specialty cocktails list, which was perfectly crafted and delicious. I declined any appetizers or soups because I thought the meal itself would be plenty, and it was. I actually ended up taking almost half of it with me for tomorrow. I had the 7 ounce fillet, Field's style (Parmesan and a plethora of sautéed mushrooms on top), medium rare, chose the risotto as my side, and added a 6 ounce lobster tail. The only thing I will mention is medium rare was a pink that tended more toward medium than rare. It could've been a little less done. But in general, everything was delicious. I passed on dessert and chose an espresso martini instead, and it was also excellently crafted. This dinner was exactly what I wanted - a respite from my driving before I settled in for the night, delicious food, attentive service, and a lovely view. I couldn't ask for more. I walked away very happy.
